    There’s first time for everything as we learn from this channel, for the last 3-4 years I’ve followed you Alex today is the first day I’ve seen you puzzled with an asus laptop, they are usually a walk over for you but this one was really something, in my area code it’s midnight already but I saw a 25 mins video uploaded and I was like there’s something fishy and I was like I’m not sleeping without knowing what’s really in this video. Amazing work though

    mlcc capacitors can have piezoelectric effects
    they create voltage when being tapped and make sound / vibrate when charging/discharging them with sharp transient voltage spikes

      I think the ticking sound is the laptop trying to play the "ROG" sound (who these models make on every boot), but being constantly interrupted by a thermal protection reboot 😉

    I bought a stethoscope for mini relays to hear them click, it was worth it.I can find engine and electronic issues. Had to find a relay buried under a dash and it got me there. Also Turn Signal modules click so it helps find them too, or a noisy bearing. Works for anything that makes a sound and you need to locate it.Has an attachable magnet at the end as well for engine noises.

    That click sound could be because of an inrush current in the inductor. the winding might make such a sound, Usually bigger ones

    • @JonnyFix
      @JonnyFix 8 месяцев назад +11

      @@don4techy He's not wrong. A switching regulator attempting to turn on especially if it's dumping into a high current load like a short can emit a noise from its inductor as the windings aren't solidly bound together they can flex just enough. Under normal conditions you might even hear a high pitch buzzing or tone.

    Use a piece of tube to locate sounds like a stethoscope. Put one end to your ear and point the other around until the sound is clear, and whatever it is pointing at is where the sound is coming from. Any tube or straw will work.

    I've heard a lot of horror stories about ASUS laptops...the verdict is still out for me as most of the failures appear to be users that are gross slobs, but I have that 3500 dollar one with the dual screens and I am very careful with it just in case. You're a sharp dude and I love your channel. Keep up the great work. Much respect.

    I started buying mid-range "gamer" laptops four years ago because I needed portability for work, and I also enjoy playing video games. However, now I’m astonished by the number of stupid and annoying issues these kinds of laptops can have. Two years ago, I regretted buying an Alienware laptop, specifically the X17 R1 from 2019.
