    Nice video.
    People please be aware you will need to drill these techniques thousands of times for them to be effective in a real situation.
    Those that already train hard already know this but I see a lot of people who expect techniques to work after a few months training. That sort of fast training does not exist. Drill for years and test in full contact sparring is the only viable way humans have found.

      So true. Knowledge of technique is only the first step. Practice, study, drill, and practice some more. Also being in great shape is essential for martial arts effectiveness.

    what if their grip is far stronger than our applied force?
    is there anything to do in that situation?
    I am asking because I tried with 2 of my friends. I successfully broke out form the first person but second person hold was so tight so that I was not able to break it...
    what can we do in that situation?

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  4 года назад

      Good question, Gaurav. Indeed, strength is a big advantage, and there is a point where techniques don’t work anymore when the strength difference is too significant. That being said, you can make up for it with tactics, switching from one escape to another and creating misdirection, as well as the principle of vibration (shake rapidly), which will loosen the grip in many cases. Will expand on this in upcoming videos! Thanks for the comment 🙏

      The reason you are experiencing this if you are doing it as suggested by the video is because the demonstrated escapes are done wrong, watch a different video on the subject. Nearly every technique was done improperly. Effectively escaping the clinch is a matter of leverage and not brute force. The way it is demonstrated here would never work against a stronger or equally strong opponent.

    Hello Patrick. Can you please tell about your belt ranking.

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  3 года назад

      Sure, will probably do a video on this a bit later, but essentially it's a belt system for MMA, so we cover Striking, Wrestling, and Grappling. Here's the gist of it:
      White - Solo movements & fitness.
      Yellow - Ability to practice safely with a partner.
      Orange - Ability to navigate the main situations, basic strategy.
      Green - Good defensive skills in all ranges.
      Blue - Good defensive and offensive skills in all ranges.
      Purple - Cultivation of personal strategy, developping "A-game" in all ranges.
      Brown - Additional level of proficiency.
      Black - Mastery and commitment to continual learning.
      For a helpful overview of the White Belt Curriculum, please check out this video:

      Please don't hesitate if you have any questions!
      Best,

    The escape used for the full plum clinch would only get you snapped down, hard, into a front head. Your second escape literally gives someone the two on one. The "back clinch" as you call it locks around the hips not the ribs, keep your hips in, knot your grip in front of their hip not their belly. The escape you used is missing details; drop for balnce but you press into their body then break their grip, from their control the wrist, dip the shoulder, and turn. Grape vining just exposes you for a mat return. Someone keeps their head behind your shoulder you aren't gonna hit their face, trying to strike from there just will get you thrown. Same mistakes on your grip for the front body lock. Some drops their and sits back then they open themselves for a snsp down, throw by, and an arm throw. Place your hand in front of someone's face you are just giving them a two on one. Posting the hips then bringing the but back can establish double wizzer for you to throw but not escape. Should bump in the o/u can set up knees and off balance for throws but doesn't expose for a straight. This is really poor instruction

      Thanks for the honest and detailed feedback, KaîÇee Crane. You are right, in this tutorial we did not explore much possible counters and follow-ups, this will make good subject matter for future tutorials. Meantime, please check out this video we published more recently on our Facebook page, it was a session recap in which we covered many techniques from the Clinch, in more detail and with more follow-up and counters. Hope you enjoy that one: facebook.com/EMAWestIsland/videos/313785852581841/
      Thanks again for taking the time to provide this valuable feedback, we will strive to create better content in the future. All the best. - Patrick

      I completely agree, this instructor should not be teaching these techniques since they don't understand the fundamentals of these techniques. If you use these techniques in a real fight against anyone you will hurt yourself. It is utterly irresponsible.

    How should you deal with head control when there's also hair grabbing?

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  5 лет назад +1

      Good question, Shinwoo. Fortunately that's not something I have to worry about... I would say do not let them grab it, and if they do, use circular movement to break the grip the same way you would break any other grip, and use the parts of your body that are not controlled to attack if you can't break the grip. Hope this helps. - Patrick

    +Effective Martial Arts I watched a vid by Barry Robinson saying Mayweather was great in the clinch v McGregor and could do well in the MMA! Do you agree and could he learn what you just showed? Floyd rates himself 7/10, after training with an MMA coach!

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  6 лет назад

      Good question, Mark Ant. Indeed, anyone can learn these techniques, and they are really meant to disengage the clinch in order to get back to the striking range. That being said, I think it is essential for any MMA fighter to also know how to use the clinch to his advantage, be it to strike or take their opponent down. More content on this coming up!

    This guy is doing it wrong demonstrating he does not understand what he is teaching. Watch a different video. If you do the techniques as demonstrated you will get hurt. Do it against anyone with even the most basic level of experience and you will end up getting destroyed. This guy is very irresponsible teaching people how to hurt themselves.

      Thanks for the feedback. Learned a lot since this video and really evolved my training and teaching style. Indeed, although I still use many of these techniques, the lesson lacked the concept of progressive resistance, which I find is central to effective practice.
      Will do better next time! Thx
