    You may not fully realize it but your video saves lives.
    In a street fight a few assholes would be attacking you when you are down on the ground. Three of them will be kicking you with all their brute might ... These assholes have to be kicked right in the groin. With your myriad suggestions, a couple of the moves will definitely score. Thanks man !

    I'm very impressed with your video the Achilles heal of Karate and Gung Fu is that it negates the ground position and in real combat you will end up in the ground 99% if the time ! The use of grappling and wrestling as in mix Natalie arts are the worst situation to find yourself as the guy on the bottom has Gravity AGAINST him I've always maintained
    That getting back to your feet is job #1 your video is the best I've seen on the subject 👍👍👍

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks, Bruce Levine! Getting to your feet is definitely the first objective when you find yourself on bottom, and the first thing you should master. With that in mind, it is also very important to look at guard retention techniques to prevent the pass, sweeps or reversals from bottom to get back on top, as well as submissions which require more practice, but are very powerful ways to control an opponent. We will explore these alternative strategies in future videos, please stay tuned, and thanks for watching and commenting!

    Hello from Portugal! Great vid!
    In my training, I'm just accustomed to using the side kick or stomp kick and the technical get up. I liked your range of techniques.
    Continue creating great videos!

    I think you can learn a few tips from Silat Open Circle channel about ground vs stand fight. What SIlat Open Circle taught me is to switch the position by dropping your opponent to the ground and get back up so that you can crush him while standing or drop your opponent to the ground so that you level the playing field that is pure ground fighting. Of all martial arts I'm familiar with, Silat is the most wholesome style I have ever seen thus far; Silat is more pragmatic and very much quite effective.

    Good video. One suggestion though. I always teach that you should replace your hand or elbow with your foot on the technical stand up to aid in having a wider base and thus a stance made for grappling as well as striking.

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  4 года назад

      Yes indeed, Combatinho. That's the way we teach it too for beginners. Check out here: ruclips.net/video/aJSf4YJWTI4/видео.html. That being said, it's sometimes useful to use more dynamic movements that rely on speed to execute surprising offensive or defensive techniques, as shown in this video. Hope this helps. - Patrick

    Can I skip bjj if I know ground kicks?

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  3 года назад +1

      No. This is a great addition to your grappling game, but if you don't understand positions, grip fighting, and submissions, you'll be exposed to all kinds of attacks and will most likely not be able to execute your own. Check out this video for a complete overview of the ground game:

    Also, you both may be interested in incorporating a parkour reverse roll into these various techniques, especially as it gets one back to one's feet in one fluid motion:

    why in the world would you lower your legs to move and hip out like that when on bottom? you should be using your shoulders and pummeling and always keep your guard up! droppin that leg creates a huge opening

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  3 года назад +1

      100% right. Hadn't done as much pure grappling back when we shot this, but it's true, never expose the chest... Will explore this in more detail in future videos. Thanks!
