I bought it for $75, I'm not a fan of it. But I ordered the parts I need and when they get here I'm upgrading it to a Pi-Cade. All together $75 for the cabinet and another $100 for all the parts I need. So $175 for a mini arcade cabinet with 1000's of games on it. Can't really beat that.
I did the same....2 player joystick with 6 button layout. Waayyy better! Tip:. Of course use a raspberry pi 3b plus or a RP4. Also: Use a favorites folder and have it boot with that folder. I have 150 games in it....and it is a lot less clunky than going through hundreds of thousands of games. I keep it for Arcade games only...no console because it doesn't seem right.
Asteroids is the best video game EVER MADE. My 12 in one is all stock and it's almost 1 year anniversary with 0 problems.Played frequently because the games are endless replay value.I don't care about the spinner,it's still fun as it is.Theres nothing more satisfying then playing classic Asteroids in a cabinet with buttons. Its arcade feel and it's awesome.
$75 isn't that bad you're getting for games so no complaining there. if you're a die-hard gamer that likes old school games from the 70s and early 80s I say pick it up.
Honestly I'd rather spend my entire life savings on an authentic asteroids machine. It looks pretty cheap and the look of the game itself isn't very authentic to the original. People who have played the original before will know exactly what I mean when I say it was amazingly bright.
Hey Eric, you can modify the spinner with the pennies and washers and it does make it better but it's nothing compared to Glenn's spinner. Make sure you get that spinner I got 2 of them for my asteroids and my 12 in 1 they work perfectly.
Unfortunately, it’s not the real Asteroids arcade experience. Missing the bezel art and cool vector graphics and how they glow and pulsate on the real machine. The shots from your spaceship are huge glowing orbs and here they are just little spitballs. So I just bought an authentic machine for $1500
But Eric, you can make love to it. There's a special flap in the back. Just make sure not to be electrocuted.😁 Great review, Bro. I'm glad you are growing an arcade.
Change the control panel for a 2 player joystick 6 button game layout and stick a raspberry pi in there. That's what I did and now I spend hours (instead of minutes with it as original) playing on it with the 150 games in my favorites folder. Wayyyyy better.
The reason why the LCD screens are missing is people returning a defective product and telling customer service there’s nothing wrong with the product.
100 bucks or below it’s worth owning this. I wish Atari library had more games like major havoc bcuz it’s speed diversity and graphics is actually used properly.
Yo tengo un asteroids y le cambié el spinner y pienso cambiarle el trackball y los botones por unos leaf para mejorar un poco más lo austero de la máquina…Saludos!!!
TBH, the Atari arcades are the very last I’m gonna get for a super low price or possibly, ignore. I may enjoy most classics like Asteroids, Pong, and both of my favorites, Missile Command and Centipede. But for most of its library, in my opinion, not only they were good at after 1975, but back then, that was when the whole generation was still trying revolutionize radar games with something different and back when arcades are being developed and evolving. Nowadays, I prefer playing arcade classics from the 80s to now more than the 70s since most of us cling more towards that arcade library than the 70s. Also, thx for the heads up on the rotator. I keep hearing it sucks by most users playing tempest with it.
Nice one Eric man. Id consider getting one to mod for sure if they did them in lil olde Ireland. Putting coin ops in one would be really cool. I think you might need an extension soon man
Don't think you did too badly for $75. Definitely thought $300 was a bit rich when these first came out, considering you can get all the games on Mame for nothing or in compilations for a few bucks. Worst part for me was I work at Walmart, and our store never put them on clearance, ever. (Did have fun playing it after work, though!) We still carry some Arcade1Up stuff, but even now what cabinets we have have only been marked down slightly to $200. Anywho, I decided to get the smaller partycade version of this, comes with 8 games, and QVC's got them on sale for $180. Still a little rich in my book, but at least it comes with both Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe.
I picked up an asteroid cab from Walmart for $75 too last one in a 40 mile radius.... I bought it to purposely convert it into a mame machine... You should do the same Brotha, unless you like those games... I'm 36 and all those games have no attachment to me...
I just saw the mortal kombat one at walmart, mcallen area, for 65 bucks, so there you go. I would get it, but I don't have the space. If anything I would get the ones that have like 2000 mame games.
How much can u buy mortal kombat arcade 1up cabinet for? It's 2021 now have they gone up in price or down do u know? If u do plz let me know thanks.also how much is asteroids now?
I don't think it's the game you're really paying for to me it's the arcade like experience. So to me it is worth it but i bought the mortal kombat one and is without a doubt worth it.........just don't put in initials XD
Critic : "Man these controls just feel so cheap....Especially the spinner!" Me Grow Up In The 80's: "Yeah, just like real feel of a real game arcade in the 80s."
Major Havoc is one of my favorite classic arcade games. Tempest machines had an upgrade to Major Havoc but the spinner was a horrible way to play the game. The original game had a roller....not a trakball but a two directional roller. Without that control, the game is almost unplayable.

I got one at Walmart and i finally got the parts and raspberry pi to modify it. Its gonna rock soon
Me too dude
Did you ever get it set up dandude?
Just bought one with the same goal in mind.

I just got mine today for $50 on OfferUp. It’s used but it was well taken care of so it was like new and new to me!
Not bad dude
Hell yeah great deal!!!

I’m just fine w the arcade works good for me
LCD just cant match the vividness of vector graphics on a monochrome CRT. It is definitely lacking without it.
Lol, I just bought an authentic one 30 minutes ago. $1500
I just got an Asteroid 8 in 1 for Christmas. That's what brought me here.
That’s a good deal man
I bought the same one, it came with the defective game changer control does not work, what can I do?
Thank you

I tried to find one today, but they didn't have any in my area....good video!!
Shouldn’t hemeroids be called asteroids?
Binge watching Space 1999 and playing classic arcade games is my favorite way to spend my Saturday mornings. Thanks for the review.
space 1999 is awesome
I don't know what that is," Space 1999" yet, I'm going to look, but I like watching old arcade games being played. It's still fun just to watch

can games be added to this one ?
Really enjoy your Arcade1up videos
Awesome cabinet. TY for sharing.

Spinner is like a laundry detergent cap lmfao!

I don 't know why they did not put a 'roller controller' on there instead.. roller contol is what I grew up on.
Omg people opening their Arcade1up boxes and to find there is no LCD screen inside? Damn that’s the most important thing!
The Mortal Kombat machine was the only one I really wanted. The other machines are cool but I knew I wouldn’t play those near as much.
Gotta mod it with a pi and all your problems are solved
100 bucks or below it’s worth owning this. I wish Atari library had more games like major havoc bcuz it’s speed diversity and graphics is actually used properly.
Glenn's spinner is great! 👍 I put mine into the Atari 12 in 1 cabinet.

Shame about the spinner for Tempest. Kills it for me.

Ps luner lander is not Mars! But the moon and the LUNER LANDER!!!
I bought one for $75. I modded it.
8BENATION!
Huge waste of money. Should’ve used the money to buy school books and learn to get a new job
My name is ben

Not even worth $75
