I always felt like I was the only one that really liked how that year of X6 looked. I don't usually like how crossovers look, but this was the only one I thought looked good.
It does look good... the camera and the condition of this one Tyler found doesn't do it any justice. You have to see it in person to appreciate it more
looks wise, it is still at least top 3 best looking out of all SUVs/truck/crossovers ever created. And over all a beautiful design. A little impractical perhaps, but so is a 2-door coupe.

It’s not repulsive. I’m not a fan of the styling but I’ve seen far worse. The new XM and 7 series are uglier than this. Also in regards to this specific example the red helps massively. Would like to see chrome wheels vs black though.
The trunk opening can be adjusted through the screen, and my father has the same vehicle, the M, with 555 hp and it runs super well and is quite reliable if you take care of it and maintain it well.
This is the reason I came to Hoovies channel in the first place. I love to see him buying fast, interesting cars that need lots of TLC to bring them back to life.

But another reason I like Hoovie is because he has access to reputable mechanics who can actually FIX these disasters and almost always he does finish them and either keeps them for a while or sells them. Some RUclipsrs frustrate me in the way they do their rebuilds on their nightmare projects. Some of them never get done and some of them take on projects that are just too stupid or too ridiculous to finish. I won't mention the name of a RUclipsr (starts with T), who paid almost $600,000 for a disaster project car which will just be a money pit.

Yea, any bmw with idrive and a powered tailgate can adjust the height of the door so short people can still press the buttons. Plus this car has a collapsed suspension so it’s sitting several inches lower on top of that. Knowing Tyler he probably maliciously lowered the door hight just for the video.

Let me be the weird one out there, but I find that design to be beautiful. It's like having a big ass car which for someone like me who has to sort cars by "can I fit in one" is perfect. That and the Mercedes one are gorgeous and I wish they were actually cheap over here so I could buy one

Probably mentioned by someone else in the comments but the hatch should open much higher. Check the tailgate setting in the iDrive Settings. I actually had one of these a few years ago in the 3.0D and it wasn’t a bad car. Drive nicely and still looked quite new on the road. The whole car is plastic though which isn’t ideal! Can’t believe people paid over $100k for these when new in Australia 😅

Yes, he needs to adjust settings in iDrive. The current setting is set to low that way you can open the trunk in your garage without hitting anything hanging from the ceiling
Hoovie you're missing the magic of this car... well sorted suspension and motor as it were new and it actually is an engineering feat that defies physics. They were actually quite fun to drive and toss around on back roads while in full attack M mode. Add a tune and it was actually pretty quick for that era

You can adjust how high up the hatch goes when it's open in the onboard Infotainment. It's set pretty low in your video. Used to own an X6 50i. Got a bunch of videos on it on my channel. This example was INTENSELY neglected. That or, the odometer was digitally rolled back at some point. I had 65K miles on my X6 when I sold it and it was cherry.

I liked (and still do) like the X6M outer styling... It's the underpinnings that BMW got totally wrong. Like most of the car manufactures in this league (when new), they throw everything at / in the car, the owners get gooey over them initially, then after a few thousand miles understand where they went wrong as a purchaser and lost money in their investment! Interesting to see if Hoovie can make this a workable car again?

My dad bought bmw x6 30d in 2013. And its the most reliable car he ever had in his life 185k km without any problem and car lives on and on to this day. And yes this is one of the best looking bmw's ive ever seen.
If someone really understands bmw's, they know to buy a good example and do preventative maintenance, then it is really not a bad experience. I drove several to very high miles (one to more then 400k) really with not that many issues. It is important to buy a good example and to know what the attention points are so you can prevent it before it gets expensive. I still love them.
Precisely. I've owned a long series of M cars and have had minimal trouble with them beyond the typical repairs one would expect for vehicles of their age. With the exception of a few high-profile design failures (VANOS!) a *well-kept* BMW can be pretty reliable. They get a really bad rap because a lot of people "stretch" to buy their bimmer, but simply can't afford the (admittedly not cheap) care and maintenance that's needed to keep it in top form. Get one that's been cared for, you're as likely to be OK as any other cared-for car. Get one that's been abused, and, well, there's that saying: "There is nothing more expensive than a cheap German car."
Also it helps if you’re in Europe not the US, the German built cars are way more reliable than the US built ones which is why Europe if full of very high mileage BMWs because they don’t disintegrate after normal use

Tbh as a German I can confirm that BMWs are actually reliable and great vehicles. Sure there are some engines that are not performing well but however…I would consider the X6 with a Diesel as solid. Please keep in mind how easy it is to maintain those E-Series cars. Most parts are used on 6er, 5er or even 7er cars and most parts and repairs are the same. You can even look them up on the net.
I actually like the way it looks! It needs some TLC for sure. I'm 5'6", so it is the perfect height for someone like me. The sloped roof line looks appealing to me! Good job, Hoovie! Love this video and the car!!! 😊
I own this model, I upgraded the turbos and added downpipes & a tune & hit 700BHP for minimal $$. I have done 189k km's and only ever changed the oil.. 🤷♂️

Apart from the condition of this example I actually like it. Appropriate status car to show off a particular message (kind of "bad PR is still a PR"), like a Continental, G-Class etc.
I had the 50i of this car and it was my last BMW after having like 10 straight. Been 10 years since I owned a BMW. Btw the hatch does open higher,you have to set it to the point you want it to open to in your idrive settings. It was a beast of a SAV and I thought it looked cool,like nothing on the road at the time and the twin turbo 4.4 V8 in that thing was amazing when it worked but it barely did.
50i had starter problems and everything but thank god it was covered by warranty and I got rid of it, last BMW I bought also but I still have my E38 740i with only 17k miles.
If plasti dip is done correctly, it should last way longer than a few months. I did the wheels on an old FX35 I had. A year later when I sold it it was still holing up well, but I did do a can per wheel so that may be why.
I personally like the x6 in particular that year and body style, it reminds me of the Acura ZDX. I own an 2018 x5 but something in me prefer the looks/size of x6
It would've been interesting to know the owner history, just how long the first owner kept the car. For me, it would've made the video that much better. Maybe you could hunt that info down and include it in the next video.
The hatch opens up further. I love my X4M40i. I dno longer have little tax credits so that room isn't needed. It's also really easy to grab a 'worst case' used car and disparage an entire model for it....
Even though it's got some issues.... I love that sav. Especially the red color. The 2015 changed but that color on the old model is awesome. I love that model about the same as Hoovie loves land yachts......LOL. I hope he mechanically restores it. Will watch every episode.

I l’m in the minority on this I’m sure but I actually enjoyed the look of this car (mainly from the front) While it’s by no means my favorite design (that would be the M3 E46) I did enjoy the different type of design and power all be it at the loss in practicality. Maybe it’s because I’ve been a BMW fanboy since birth and the most recent release of BMW’s has pushed me away more than ever but I have a greater appreciation for not so loved 08-15 BMW models
My dad has had a new BMW every year since 2000 and he never had a car for more than a year. He got a 2019 BMW X6 in late 2018 and he still has it in 2023. It’s really practical and reliable for us but to be fair it isn’t the M.
The "ick" moment that jumps out at me as the worst... its MASSIVE disparity in wheel arches front to rear! It looks like they glued another car onto the front, forward of the front door... 🤮

I wanted one of these when I had my 2011 335d, then Henderson BMW gave me one as a loaner one of the times I had to have the 335d decarbed (extended warranty, all covered by the dealership).. After driving it for 48hr, I no longer wanted one.
Why you give hard time to x6 how it looks? Now there is no manufacture who doesn't have one who copies x6. Lambo, Mercedes, Audi, Aston Martin, Renault and so on
i see you came across all this depreciated ex-luxury suvs, before the deal was that off road guys would want them after the glamour was gone, but this ones seems to be the exception, you should try to build one of these and take it to utah to see if it can finish a trailor if they are just junk

I kind of like the X6M. I’ve had one X6 but not for long. I’ve had a few X5M cars and that is better to be sure. Great car but yes they don’t seem to last that long. Got to 145k on the last one before there were too many things to fix, that it exceeded the value of the car. Bye bye. But love that power when that car is on, it’s great.
This particular example, no, but i remember being in highschool and my school bus would drive through the rich neighborhood ($1M+ houses) to pick up the few rich kids that took the bus. There was a black one of these, pre M series and I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

This is actually one of the only SUV like cars that I likes the look of. Still is. Actually, it seems ahead of it's time, as manufacturers are now putting out premium models with the exact same design. At least in Europe.
I’ll let the fans know what really happened. Tyler will probably delete this comment but I think the audience deserves to know the truth about his evil ex wife Ping. I regularly talk to one of Tyler’s friends and business partners. 5 years ago Tyler asked Ping to be his wife. They got engaged and then within the next 3 years his RUclips career took off. He was making millions in ad revenue as his videos never get demonetized and made many great investments during this time such as buying a large percentage of Freddie’s Steak Burgers and a few real estate properties. She was a stay at home wife and shortly after they moved into the new house he went to California for 2 days to film with Doug and buy another car while out there. He decided not to buy the car because it was too far away and flew back home early. Tyler got home around 3am and well… sadly he caught Ping cheating with a much younger guy between the age of 25-30. They didn’t have security cameras since they just moved in, that’s how she able to get away with it. She supposedly met him on instagram. 2 months later it turns out… oops she’s pregnant. Yes, that’s right! That’s not even Tyler’s kid… Tyler knows this isn’t his kid because during the move they didn’t have sex for over a month and after he caught her cheating they stopped having sex. So there was no sex for 2 months. She wanted to get pregnant so she could collect child support and take the house. Child support is based on your yearly income. I’ll keep Tyler’s income private but she’s getting $8700 a month from Tyler… Because there’s bad memories associated with the house Tyler let her have it since he legally can’t sell it anyways because they were married when they bought it and she has the kid. There’s nothing he can do with the house. She took absolutely everything and Tyler is now left with nothing. Now he’s panicking and selling everything including his investments. Thank you Doug for helping him out with that btw. My buddy and Tyler’s friends / business partners tried telling him to get away from her for the past 3 years. Tyler I’m sorry I know you won’t say it but I will because I want your fans to know how amazing of a man you are. You never take a vacation or a day off. Your RUclips channel is literally your life and it shows. Me and your fans appreciate you beyond belief. Please take your time getting situated. I own a Honda Crosstour, Which is a Car Similar to this Built to be a crossover that drives like a sedan, while being practical, it also has a Coupe sloped roof, but unlike that BMW its reliable, Known to go well past 300k miles on the v6, The back seats have a ton of space, its unfortunate that it didnt sell more.
Crazy how you make it look like the condition of this particular model is thanks to BMW´s bad engeneering and not the obvious mishandeling by the previous owener, who probably never serviced nor maintained the car correctly.

I like the styling of the X6 - Lift it and put offroad tires on it and it becomes a Rallye-FIghter-ish daily driver.

My dad bought bmw x6 30d in 2013. And its the most reliable car he ever had in his life 185k km without any problem and car lives on and on to this day. And yes this is one of the best looking bmw's ive ever seen.
If someone really understands bmw's, they know to buy a good example and do preventative maintenance, then it is really not a bad experience. I drove several to very high miles (one to more then 400k) really with not that many issues. It is important to buy a good example and to know what the attention points are so you can prevent it before it gets expensive. I still love them.
Precisely. I've owned a long series of M cars and have had minimal trouble with them beyond the typical repairs one would expect for vehicles of their age. With the exception of a few high-profile design failures (VANOS!) a *well-kept* BMW can be pretty reliable. They get a really bad rap because a lot of people "stretch" to buy their bimmer, but simply can't afford the (admittedly not cheap) care and maintenance that's needed to keep it in top form. Get one that's been cared for, you're as likely to be OK as any other cared-for car. Get one that's been abused, and, well, there's that saying: "There is nothing more expensive than a cheap German car."

Also it helps if you’re in Europe not the US, the German built cars are way more reliable than the US built ones which is why Europe if full of very high mileage BMWs because they don’t disintegrate after normal use

Tbh as a German I can confirm that BMWs are actually reliable and great vehicles. Sure there are some engines that are not performing well but however…I would consider the X6 with a Diesel as solid. Please keep in mind how easy it is to maintain those E-Series cars. Most parts are used on 6er, 5er or even 7er cars and most parts and repairs are the same. You can even look them up on the net.
I actually like the way it looks! It needs some TLC for sure. I'm 5'6", so it is the perfect height for someone like me. The sloped roof line looks appealing to me! Good job, Hoovie! Love this video and the car!!! 😊

I own this model, I upgraded the turbos and added downpipes & a tune & hit 700BHP for minimal $$.
I have done 189k km's and only ever changed the oil.. 🤷♂️

Apart from the condition of this example I actually like it. Appropriate status car to show off a particular message (kind of "bad PR is still a PR"), like a Continental, G-Class etc.
I had the 50i of this car and it was my last BMW after having like 10 straight. Been 10 years since I owned a BMW. Btw the hatch does open higher,you have to set it to the point you want it to open to in your idrive settings. It was a beast of a SAV and I thought it looked cool,like nothing on the road at the time and the twin turbo 4.4 V8 in that thing was amazing when it worked but it barely did.
50i had starter problems and everything but thank god it was covered by warranty and I got rid of it, last BMW I bought also but I still have my E38 740i with only 17k miles.
If plasti dip is done correctly, it should last way longer than a few months. I did the wheels on an old FX35 I had. A year later when I sold it it was still holing up well, but I did do a can per wheel so that may be why.

I personally like the x6 in particular that year and body style, it reminds me of the Acura ZDX. I own an 2018 x5 but something in me prefer the looks/size of x6

there's a few things that you've griped over that are just settings within the infotainment, the tailgate height being one of them lol
To know it’s running you don’t have to look at the gauges , just look at the smoke emitting from around the hood gap 😅
It would've been interesting to know the owner history, just how long the first owner kept the car. For me, it would've made the video that much better. Maybe you could hunt that info down and include it in the next video.

The hatch opens up further. I love my X4M40i. I dno longer have little tax credits so that room isn't needed. It's also really easy to grab a 'worst case' used car and disparage an entire model for it....
Even though it's got some issues.... I love that sav. Especially the red color. The 2015 changed but that color on the old model is awesome. I love that model about the same as Hoovie loves land yachts......LOL. I hope he mechanically restores it. Will watch every episode.

Hey Hoovie, I appreciate the upload and hope you’re doing well! I l’m in the minority on this I’m sure but I actually enjoyed the look of this car (mainly from the front) While it’s by no means my favorite design (that would be the M3 E46) I did enjoy the different type of design and power all be it at the loss in practicality. Maybe it’s because I’ve been a BMW fanboy since birth and the most recent release of BMW’s has pushed me away more than ever but I have a greater appreciation for not so loved 08-15 BMW models

My dad has had a new BMW every year since 2000 and he never had a car for more than a year. He got a 2019 BMW X6 in late 2018 and he still has it in 2023. It’s really practical and reliable for us but to be fair it isn’t the M.

I wanted one of these when I had my 2011 335d, then Henderson BMW gave me one as a loaner one of the times I had to have the 335d decarbed (extended warranty, all covered by the dealership).. After driving it for 48hr, I no longer wanted one.

I kind of like the X6M. I’ve had one X6 but not for long. I’ve had a few X5M cars and that is better to be sure. Great car but yes they don’t seem to last that long. Got to 145k on the last one before there were too many things to fix, that it exceeded the value of the car. Bye bye. But love that power when that car is on, it’s great.
These have grown on me over the years. Probably because a neighbor a couple houses down owns one and I walk my dog by it every day.

This particular example, no, but i remember being in highschool and my school bus would drive through the rich neighborhood ($1M+ houses) to pick up the few rich kids that took the bus. There was a black one of these, pre M series and I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

This is actually one of the only SUV like cars that I likes the look of. Still is. Actually, it seems ahead of it's time, as manufacturers are now putting out premium models with the exact same design. At least in Europe.

5 years ago Tyler asked Ping to be his wife. They got engaged and then within the next 3 years his RUclips career took off. He was making millions in ad revenue as his videos never get demonetized and made many great investments during this time such as buying a large percentage of Freddie’s Steak Burgers and a few real estate properties. She was a stay at home wife and shortly after they moved into the new house he went to California for 2 days to film with Doug and buy another car while out there. He decided not to buy the car because it was too far away and flew back home early. Tyler got home around 3am and well… sadly he caught Ping cheating with a much younger guy between the age of 25-30. They didn’t have security cameras since they just moved in, that’s how she able to get away with it. She supposedly met him on instagram. 2 months later it turns out… oops she’s pregnant. Yes, that’s right! That’s not even Tyler’s kid… Tyler knows this isn’t his kid because during the move they didn’t have sex for over a month and after he caught her cheating they stopped having sex. So there was no sex for 2 months. She wanted to get pregnant so she could collect child support and take the house. Child support is based on your yearly income. I’ll keep Tyler’s income private but she’s getting $8700 a month from Tyler… Because there’s bad memories associated with the house Tyler let her have it since he legally can’t sell it anyways because they were married when they bought it and she has the kid. There’s nothing he can do with the house. She took absolutely everything and Tyler is now left with nothing. Now he’s panicking and selling everything including his investments. Thank you Doug for helping him out with that btw.

I own a Honda Crosstour, Which is a Car Similar to this Built to be a crossover that drives like a sedan, while being practical, it also has a Coupe sloped roof, but unlike that BMW its reliable, Known to go well past 300k miles on the v6, The back seats have a ton of space, its unfortunate that it didnt sell more.

Crazy how you make it look like the condition of this particular model is thanks to BMW´s bad engeneering and not the obvious mishandeling by the previous owener, who probably never serviced nor maintained the car correctly.
