    We would be Type 5 Civilization if all RUclips educational videos were like this information dense yet consumable all at once. Thanks man, this was honestly the only Anytype video I sticked to after juggling through 10+ of them

    This was explained really well! I've been installing AnyType only to uninstall it shortly after trying it again, for a few weeks now because I feel like I don't fully understand the features and can't quite figure out how to organize my docs here, but I still keep wanting to give it a shot just because I keep seeing people say it's like Obsidian meets Notion. This helped give me a better idea on how to use it, thanks!

    thanks for the video, the app has indeed change, I am new user and it's nothing like your old video. But I didn't quite get the differences between sets and collections, and the inline collections or sets stuff. If you could explain again it would be great thanks again.

    I just started using Obsidian and this seems very similar, perhaps with more features. Is there any reason to use this instead of Obsidian?

    • @bpyku
      @bpyku 4 месяца назад +3

      Obsidian is locally saved (unless you pay money) whereas your AnyType account can be accessed from anywhere as long as you have the password (the set of random words they give you). that was my reason for switching over

    • @AnarchySane
      @AnarchySane 4 месяца назад +2

      @@bpyku What kind of nonsense is this?😂 AnyType is local-first.

      Anytype is Object-based. Obsidian is markdown. Obsidian is better for writing/long text documents. Anytype is superior when it comes to task management, or managing lots of little bits of info. It's more of a workspace, and less of a place for long notes (for now).

    I still don't get how all the components relate, Spaces, Category, Objects, Pages....If for e.g. I was studying 3 topics, would I create 3 x Spaces? and then within each Space sub-categories pertaining to that topic?

    • @pianomacpower
      @pianomacpower  4 месяца назад +1

      You could create 3 spaces, one for each topic. You could also make a page for each, and use collections to organize the notes on each subject. You can't link objects between spaces (yet), so it probably wouldn't be super helpful to use separate spaces if you wanted to connect that info.

    Even the creators of the app couldn't be bothered to make a quick intro vid like this. Thanks for posting this. Convinced me it's "too much GUI + mouse clicking" to be an actual useful note taking app. It's a frigging database of uselessness really.

    • @CardboardBoxed
      @CardboardBoxed Месяц назад +4

      The app is actually really good, since it’s local it’s lightning fast and for me I open up the app, press ‘+’ and it’s creating a new note.
      I think, just like notion, the more you fiddle with these things the worse the productivity becomes (unless you’re using some complex specific feature). But generally this app is really good, the only one I’ve stuck with.

    • @ysy_y
      @ysy_y 22 дня назад

      @@CardboardBoxedI strongly agree, this is my takeaway too. It had to grow on me and I had to unlearn the endless optimization various other programs baited you into (as a user of Obsidian since the absolute beginning, too much freedom is a bad thing)

    Wow... Great summary ! It took me hours to figure that out... Just for info, I'm French native speaker... Ouch... Where did you learn to speak so quickly... Hard to follow... I've to stop the video each 3 seconds in order to read automatic RUclips translations... 🥴

    • @pianomacpower
      @pianomacpower  4 месяца назад +1

      Shoot, sorry about that 😅 I'm native English, and I do a debate club, so it's a bad habit to talk quickly. I shall try to slow down in future videos.
