A lot of the criticism for this team has been their strength of schedule and I think on paper it’s a valid argument, but when watching this team play it’s easy for me to see that they’re still a very good team. When facing playoff caliber teams this year, they’ve also played really well. Winning series against the Yankees, Astros, Angels, Mariners and Phillies. The bullpen has 100% been the one thing holding this team down and had we had any other good arms besides Will Smith, we likely would’ve won the Braves and Diamondbacks series. Until the bullpen gets fixed it’ll be the one thing preventing them from having a real shot at competing, but just from watching this team play, I think as of now everything else points in the direction that they can compete.
Will Smith closing? Yikes! I remember, as a Braves fan, in the 21 WS, he walked the bases loaded with no out then struck out the next 3. He’s prone to the long ball so buckle up Rangers fans.
The crazy thing is one of their best hitters: Nate Lowe, is off to a slow start, and judging by the past few years he might put it all together as soon as early June. I would not want to be an Astros fan when they happens

The Astros have done extraordinary this year with winning while under immense pressure with few starting pitchers nor starting players/ batters!
I don’t think anyone is saying the Astros aren’t good. Most of us here in dfw fully expect Houston to be on top by year’s end. We’re just enjoying the ride right now, and looking forward to September baseball that means something.
I mean by you say a player or two like losing one of the best offensive shortstops and arguably the best pitcher in baseball for large periods isn’t much. The one thing the Rangers are missing is a good bullpen which has directly been responsible for about half their losses
Some of their offensive numbers are due for serious regression, their numbers with risp compared to bases empty are absurd and not sustainable…well no team previously has sustained a discrepancy that large I guess it is technically possible they could be the one in a million team 😅
They don’t need to keep up the offense to dominate though. They just need a half decent bullpen to not give up leads. Bullpen has been directly responsible for giving up about half their losses from winning positions
Rangers fan so my opinion is biased but damn they are doing good with the bat this season...but yea as @Jack Praeuner said in his comment. Keep us on the low lol. We need some relief pitchers and closers but man we definitely stepped it up this season
@@LinkRocks he’s had a limited amount of starts over the last few seasons. He’s been great. But I don’t understand how people can be so stoked for a guy who hardly plays. He’s more of an enigma at this point in his career. Just my opinion.
Don’t forget that the best catcher in the MLB plays for the Texas Rangers. Look at the numbers, offensively and defensively Jonah Heim is the best catcher in baseball.
I think the Rangers problem is they signed a bunch of people who are always injured. Seger, deGrom, Evoldi and Heany are all made of porcelain. So how does the team fare when two or three of those go down together and how much time do they all miss. How deep is the squad and how many of those injuries can they cover? Those are the questions I have. Because it seems less likely that those players stay healthy. So how they cope with those injuries is what I’m waiting for.
Depth is where they actually shine, in my opinion. Ezekiel Duran has been killing in Seagers place. Garver hasn't been missed terribly but he's coming back soon. Our OF can't sustain much loss but still a few in the minors who could come up and might shine. Rangers have been going heavy SP in the draft, with White, Rocker, and Leiter coming up in a year or two, which is going to make this team really scary. They are deep with a lot of great trade assets when they find they are one or two players away. Bullpen will get corrected via trade by the deadline and then watch out.
They scored MLB leading 297 and only have a 2 game lead? That only means the Rangers are out scoring their mediocre pitching. I say within the next week the Astros will be in first. The Astros lost Urquidy, Garcia and McCullers Jr. to injury and Jose Abreu has been awful and they just got Altuve back, yet the Astros are only 2 games of first.
Im an astros fan and i honestly thought that Seattle would be the only team to beat us because of their pitching. But now im like damn we gotta worry about the rangers now too
The Rangers have the kind of offense that has a bunch of guys you've never heard of that are huge contributors to a World Series win...it's NEVER the household names.
Nobody is talking about the Rangers because our bullpen is full of head cases that shake in their boots anytime the game is close going into the 7th, 8th or 9th inning there's a high probability that the bullpen blows the game. I think we have 10 blown games from the pen and it's only May 23. Bullpen is really the only piece this team is missing to be a contender, IMO.
If you've followed the Rangers the whole season you know their record should be a lot better than what it is. The bullpen has cost them a lot of games.
Yessir! The Rangers have lost 5 games after having leads of over 4 runs. They should be 22 games over .500, though their pythag is "only" 33-13 (+108 run differential). Most of that is without deGrom and Seager. They have a deep system of tradeable prospects, so the bullpen issues won't be issues for too long. The Rangers aren't in a hurry though. They have the luxury of bringing deGrom along slowly and evolving into an even more powerful lineup. They still give ABs to Grossman, who hasn't been awful, but they are still getting sub-0.0 WAR from the LF position.
I have been a Rangers fan pretty much my entire time of being alive, and when I moved to DFW for a decade, it made sense to support them, and it was awesome in 2011... They made it to the World Series where game 6 was above and by far my favorite game of baseball ever played, but they went downhill quite a lot after that. I'm super glad to see them back on the comeup. They also have the best looking City Nights uniforms in baseball by far!
I think, to a certain extent, people got "White Sox Syndrome" with this team after last season. Personally I think that's why people were a tad bit too tepid on the Rangers for 2023. Would be fun to see them in the post season repping the AL West this year.
@@LinkRocks it absolutely does. The results of last reason directly influence our conceptions of the various teams for the next season. There was some hype behind the Rangers last year, they underperformed, and now people are taking a "need to see it to believe it" mentality. If Judge hits 40 home runs this year that would be a good season. But would people consider it as successful after his record setting season last year? It all ebbs and flows. Nobody was hyped about Baltimore last year but now they are. It's the opposite as Chicago or Texas.
Diehard life long Rangers fans had given up on this team. It took all of us to stop watching or showing up despite a new stadium for them to realize it.
I mean...if you spend three quarters of a billion dollars in two years you're gonna have some names. That and a good farm system and no more shift...it just makes sense
Reason why: 1. They have had the easiest schedule thus far, not opinion but fact look it up. 2. Until they beat the Stros for the division and win a playoff series then they’ll be the same rangers we remembered, 2nd team in Texas. 3. Still a ways to go, let’s have this convo in August and see where they at in the race. As of today they are only 1 game ahead of the Stros and the Stros seam to be heating up. Stros field the best team ERA across MLB and their bullpen is prolly still the best. Rangers don’t have to go through the As and the Rockies lol West goes through the Astros until it doesn’t…. No one is talking about them bc they haven’t done anything yet. Kudos for a good start tho. They are on the rise but are they there yet? Let’s wait and see.

@@LinkRocks he’s had a limited amount of starts over the last few seasons. He’s been great. But I don’t understand how people can be so stoked for a guy who hardly plays. He’s more of an enigma at this point in his career. Just my opinion.
@@LinkRocks 32 starts in 3 years
Don’t forget that the best catcher in the MLB plays for the Texas Rangers. Look at the numbers, offensively and defensively Jonah Heim is the best catcher in baseball.
There would be more hype for my Texas Rangers if it was broadcast at least locally. Its a luxury to pay for Fox SW or MLB.
NOBODY is talking about the Orioles (especially this channel)
No one cares about the O's.
@@LinkRocks probably a salty jays fan
I love how well this aged
They scored MLB leading 297 and only have a 2 game lead? That only means the Rangers are out scoring their mediocre pitching. I say within the next week the Astros will be in first. The Astros lost Urquidy, Garcia and McCullers Jr. to injury and Jose Abreu has been awful and they just got Altuve back, yet the Astros are only 2 games of first.
It's a marathon, not a sprint. Still a long ways to go, plus the two teams still have several games vs each other.
@@LinkRocksThe Astros will finish at least 15 games ahead of the rangers by the end of the season.
We'll your right about the pitching but it's been their bullpen not their starters.
Rangers are without Degrom so who cares?
Going to a Rangers game in July can’t wait
Astros v rangers gonna be a tough battle but it's gonna be awesome
No it won't. The Astros are going to smoke them in the standings.
@@anthonymartinez0865 nope Rangers in 3
Why is Oogway Ascends playing in the background lmao
They was talking about them at the end of the season🏆
And we won
Im an astros fan and i honestly thought that Seattle would be the only team to beat us because of their pitching. But now im like damn we gotta worry about the rangers now too
Mariners aren't really living up the hype honestly.
The Rangers have the kind of offense that has a bunch of guys you've never heard of that are huge contributors to a World Series win...it's NEVER the household names.
You can't be underdogs spending that sort of coin.
Sure you can if no one believes you can win.

So does Mike Rhyner.
@@LinkRocks It's so awesome when a fellow P1 (or Glen) gets an obscure reference just by reading it 🤣🤣🤣
Nobody is talking about the Rangers because our bullpen is full of head cases that shake in their boots anytime the game is close going into the 7th, 8th or 9th inning there's a high probability that the bullpen blows the game. I think we have 10 blown games from the pen and it's only May 23. Bullpen is really the only piece this team is missing to be a contender, IMO.
And I remembered iTalk posted video said the Rangers are screwed over on the deGrom signing just last month😂
As a Rangers fan…… thank you!
I don’t think they can keep it up all season, especially when you’re in the same division as the Astros and Mariners eventually they will catch up.
straight up tx baby let’s keep our run going
if they are suddenly playing well. they arent underrated but subverting expectations.
This has aged like fine wine
It’s the Bruce bochi effect
I can't speak for all Rangers fans, but I've had my heart broken by them too many times so keeping lowered expectations is necessary self-care.
I think, to a certain extent, people got "White Sox Syndrome" with this team after last season. Personally I think that's why people were a tad bit too tepid on the Rangers for 2023. Would be fun to see them in the post season repping the AL West this year.
Last year has nothing to do with this season, though.
And deGrom is on IL.
They have such an easy schedule that’s why
Im here after putting up 16 on the Mariners today
Diehard life long Rangers fans had given up on this team. It took all of us to stop watching or showing up despite a new stadium for them to realize it.
I mean...if you spend three quarters of a billion dollars in two years you're gonna have some names. That and a good farm system and no more shift...it just makes sense
Go RANGERS
Bullpen is trash right now but it’s nice to see a team have a plan to get better and execute it
Let's hope the Angels do something good.
The true team that will shock MLB soon will be the Marlins
No one cares about the Marlins.
Been a rangers fan since I got a xl men’s shirt when I was 4. Rangers win ws in 5
🤡🤡🤡🤡
Let’s wait and see.
reason number one is firing John Daniels.
Sounds like the kung fu panda soundtrack
Rangers had the easiest schedule in baseball to start the season. They will fall off.
They really need to get some bullpen help!!! That's their ONLY weekness!!!
