Well first they spent 3/4 of a billion dollars on Seager, Semien, Haney, DeGrom and Eovaldi. Secondly they added Bruce Bochy, a 3- time world series champion, and they already had some terrific players in Garcia, Heim, Lowe, Perez and Dunning that just needed the right manager and the few extra pieces to get them over the hump. Then you can add the emergence of Duran, Smith and Tavares and that pretty much sums it up. Attitude and confidence changes a ton of things when you have it and they now do.

This emergence has been pretty wild from a Texas Rangers fan's point of view. I knew hiring Bochy was an amazing land for the team especially a young team he can mold a culture around, but I've been scrambling to learn who these guys even are after watching very little Rangers baseball the past few seasons. I knew our farm system was full of talent, but this has been a surprise. But as a Rangers fan I will say there is nothing to really be too excited about until we're through August. The one big thing the boys have going for them now is not playing on a 130-degree field in the middle of July and August.

The Rangers had an excellent staff the first time he was here. Add that Bruce has coached multiple world series teams...and... get ready, the Rangers are going to be good for a long time.
Also, no I don't know them on a first-name basis. I just don't know how to spell either last name. Embarrassing knowing Mike's brother is one of the best but I can never remember if it is an O or a U and I'm too lazy/tired to look it up.

I’m just trying to be cautiously optimistic. completely agree that they’ll be competitive, I just think they’re missing a few key parts to win the WS this year. I could be wrong, hopefully I am because I’m a Rangers fan 😂

It just feels like the entire bullpen is unreliable besides Will Smith, but other than that they seem very solid

@@averagebaseball I think that generally weakness show up more by contrast when the majority of the roster is operating at world series contender level. They have the long man in Dunning and if you add another middle reliever and another end game option from the right side...then it the roles start to become clearer. Then again maybe Hernandez settles down but if the team continues to mash and win at this rate they will definitely be buyers at the trade deadline.

The only reason semien had a decent year last year was bc of his first 2 months being a terrible hitter. Past those 2 months semien had an amazing season. So hes just picking up right where he left off

It’s not that they are a fluke but pretty much every player is having career years at the plate and that can’t keep up throughout the entire year. They will come back to their norms eventually.
They also lead the league in BABIP which says they also are having some good fortune.
Eovaldi is also pitching extremely above all his norms. The Rangers are basically getting career best season all throughout the roster but especially at the plate.

Definitely think they are already WS contenders considering they have a great balance of youth and veterans that are all contributing a lot. Adolis Garcia should be the frontrunner for AL MVP at this point and if they have health going into October Id be very optimistic about their chances in any series.
