- In this video I talk about the incredible Baltimore Orioles rebuild that saw them go from one of the worst teams ever in 2018 to a World Series contender in 2023…

How far can the O’s go in 2023?
I have them going to the ALCS and losing in 6 to the Astros
Probably the ALDS this year, but win a World Series in the next five years.
I hope all the way.
They make the Postseason, but get eliminated early.
@@shoukatsukaipretty good prediction
As a lifelong Orioles fan from the early Ripken days, these past two seasons feel like a dream come true. It's been a test of character for many years.
You ain't lying... I was just saying that to myself after watching this "man, it was fucking brutal being an O's fan." Now my son is running around the house screaming LETS GO O'S.
You’re lifelong needed to be a bit longer. You missed the glory years of the 60’s & 70’s. Truly fun times watching The Magic on 33rd Street. Maybe one day The Yard can get what Memorial had. Time will tell.
Im a newer fan but I the reason I am alive is because of Ripken
Amen bro . This is a breath of fresh air.
I wish them the best of luck in the playoffs
They are a lot of fun to watch this year
Incredible turn around
Fast forward to now: 2023 AL East Champions⚾️ LET’S GO!!!
As of July 30th The Orioles are in first place 64-41. They won the most recent series against the New York Yankees.
This year also marks the 40 year anniversary of winning their last World Series back in 1983.
As being a life long fan of the Orioles from Baltimore it is amazing seeing the turnaround of the Baltimore Orioles. They are definitely the underdog team of the MLB.
Baltimore fans did stick with the Orioles through all those bad years though. Sure attendance was down and fullest during Red Sox and Yankees games, but all the fans I know still kept them on the radio and on TV. Some players, at least from what i've heard, were genuinely surprised to arrive in Baltimore and find that the fans were excited to see them and about the orioles even if they didnt expect them to win.
That pandemic season was actually critical to the Orioles success IMO.
There were no minor league that year, that season wasn't beneficial to ANY team. All it did was set everyone's prospects behind in their development.
@@Deadtrumpanzeesmakemehappy-420 yeah but we made the most of it.
35 year fan! Still here!
Good observation. We did awesome in 2023. Future is brighter. We just need new ownership
Asked and answered!
I'm a Cubs fan, two of my best friends, and their Dad are Oriole fans. It would be great if the Orioles made the playoffs, maybe even win the World Series. I saw my team's suffering end, now it's their turn.
I've loved the Orioles for most of my life. After I went in the military for 20 years, I didn't get to see them that much being on the places in the world. But I still followed them as much as I could and I grew up with the Orioles. Having some great teams in the late 60s and early '70s. Lot of good memory but later a lot of hard times. After 1983 last year they won the WS. I just hope that the Angelo's family will not get too involved or at least the sons have a better head to running the ball club and their father. It's nice to see them doing so well now, cuz it's taking so long. I think they need to pick at least one or two at a real good players and just give them a good contract so that they'll have a core for years and that should start with the catcher.
They need to open the checkbook if they want to keep winning
I was in college down in Baltimore from 2018-2022. Man I could see the evolution. I started out getting $7 tickets and end up near 3rd base. By my senior year the tickets getting more expensive the seats filling up more. They definitely deserve this.
The Orioles now have the best record in the second half the 2023 baseball season. Since July 1st, they have gone 42-18, and look poised for not only 100+ wins and the division crown, but look to make a deep postseason run as well. They have the 6th best run production, a byproduct of the best team RISP in all of MLB, outstanding defense, a reliable starting pitcher core, and maybe the best bullpen in baseball even without Felix Bautista. And it only looks to get better for the Os, especially if they get Felix back and John Means rejoins the starting rotation as expected.
As a 53 year old native Baltimorean , I am of course anything Maryland sports fan and the Washington Capitals…..Growing up watching the Orioles and going to games on 33rd street were memories I’ll cherish forever… Obviously I love the Ravens and celebrated like everyone in the MD-DC-VA area in 2018 when the Capitals hoisted the Stanley Cup, but the Birds are my childhood and ALL BALTIMORE and I never thought I’d live to see another run…. This looks promising and I’ve watched nearly every game on TV (live in Florida now), fingers crossed, spend some money please on a frontline starter or two and let’s complete the comeback with our first World Series since 1983 sometime in the next few years…. go O’s
Being a life long O's fan, it's amazing to finally have a good team again. Also, having stacked depth for years to come doesn't hurt.
Bro I haven't seen an Orioles hype video in a decade, is this real life?
Reminds me of the Astros of the early 2010s. Tank every year, get high draft picks, suddenly become a contender. What a winning strategy.
So proud of the growth of my boys. 2023 feels like the year we may see playoff Orioles baseball again!
I may need to go back and check, but to my knowledge you didn’t mention our reigning gold glove 3rd baseman Ramon Urias. He’s looking better than ever at the plate in my opinion. Too many talented players is a problem I welcome with open arms. Badass video brotha. Keep up the nice work
Thank you!!
We finally have winning team . Go O’s
Please do an update to this! I have to say that this is one of the greatest analysis of the Orioles I've ever seen!
I think what’s standing between the team increasing its ceiling is John Angelos’ ongoing standoff with the city of Baltimore over public funding to both extend the lease of and renovate Camden Yards. John deserves credit for not being a front office meddler like his dad was, but he won’t fully win back the fanbase until the true spending begins (i.e., long-term extension to Rutschman or Mullins)
We need to lock up Gunnar on an extension but he's a Scott Boras client so that's not likely at all. Holliday day is a Boras guy too unfortunately, so they'll both be gone before free agency.
Lifetime orioles fan I grew up in bel air md and I have a unique insight to the orioles front office as my mom was a waitress in the owners box at Camden yards and I asked my mom if she thinks Angelos will ever pay the talent and she replied with “that cheap fuck isn’t paying anyone” so I am hopeful but I am weary
Fun fact: The Baltimore Orioles are the first team to ever play to an empty home crowd even before covid as in 2015. They played a game in front of an empty crowd after the Freddie Gray riots.
They were also the first team to roll out a roster worth over a 100 million dollars.
Wow that’s a fun fact
Another fun fact: The Orioles had the best record in all of baseball from 1958 to 1983. They won the world series in 1983.
I had tickets to that game and they ended up just letting us pick another game to get tickets to so we went to Buck Showalter garden gnome night against the mets
@@yeeluvspizzathey won in 1966 and 1970 too
I'm a Royals fan and extremely jealous. Their record from 2018 through 2021 closely mirrored Baltimore's, so they had a similar position in the draft, but they are now on a path to their worst season record in their history, and their farm system is ranked 29th.
As a Twins fan I love to see it!
Me too
A small price to pay for 2015
But when the royals beat the orioles in the playoffs in 2014 and lost after that, they did what they needed to in order to win a world series. The orioles sold everyone and blamed one of our best managers so they could fire him. I have immense respect for the 2015 royals because of that.
@@OrioleFan3362015 was luck tbh
Not an Os fan but I’m glad they are doing well. They have a good set of young guys on the rise and it’s good to see a team that struggled for so long finally find some success especially in the AL East everyone is playing well. Adley ruschtman going to be a generational talent as well. I’d compared him to a buster posey of sorts.
For the last two years, I've been able to wear my Oriole hats and shirts in public again! YAY!!
I’m a braves and white sox fan. But my brother is a huge Os fan. And It’s been crazy to watch them turn this franchise around.
The rebuild isn’t over yet either, this is the first maybe second year of actually bringing players up and getting them comfortable on the field. They’re 1 maybe 2 years ahead of schedule
They still got Jackson and Heston in the farm system which is nuts
They'll go as far as ownership will let them. Developing players can only get you so far. You have to spend eventually to supplement the roster. The O's have the 2nd lowest payroll in baseball. No team in the history of baseball has won a championship with a bottom 3 payroll.
I agree
Isn't Chris Davis still on the payroll?
@@patrickstrahm05 yep. Paying him $3 mil/year for the next 15 years. lol
@@brandondillman5841damn. At least it ain’t a crazy amount per year ig, still got money to work with
@@brandondillman5841 On a per year basis yes. Actually it's
7.5 million
7.5 million
3.7 Million
3.7 million
Then it's 1.8 till the contract is up
But it doesn't start paying until this season I think(5 years removed from baseball). I could be wrong
As an os fan before the season, I predicted the Orioles to get 88 wins and make the playoffs but they’re doing better
Way better
Fun to watch
I wish them all the best
doubt 88 gets into the playoffs this year
@@vincenthammons-kd9du I made this comment in march
Fantastic video
Thank you for all the hard work putting this together
I really enjoyed it 😅
Been an O’s fan since I became a baseball fan when I was like 11 . It feels so good to finally see them doing well.
Mike Elias shops at the store I work at. He’s a really chill guy!
Been an O's fan since '94, seeing the guys on this team going out and having fun, leaves me excited for what the future holds for them.
My dad grew up in DC when there was no Nationals so he and i have loved the orioles our entire lives and im so glad to be back after half my life
Not an O’s fan per se, but if the O’s don’t pay whatever they need to make Adley a career Oriole they deserve to suck lol
Rutschman is a franchise altering player that is a true clubhouse leader and he just turned 25. The dude has potential to go down as the greatest catcher in MLB history
This team is super exciting and could be great this year and beyond. My only fear is that when they finally taste championship hope, they’ll throw a boat load of money at a free agent that ends up not panning out and holds the team back and restricts them from signing their core guys like Adley, Gunnar and eventually Holliday as well as others. But if I’m an orioles fan, I trust the staff that put this core in to place to grow them into a championship caliber roster.
2018 was so forgettable that I forgot how bad we were!
I havent cared to watch or really keep up with baseball since the dip in orioles play and when i got into watching the UFC, NBA and Boxing. but now that the orioles are looking great this season ive been reminded how much i actually enjoy baseball. amplified by the fact its the only sport i ever was good at. so i would like to thank management in Baltimore for giving me that spark back.
I have a video I took from Trey Mancinis walk off shown in the video and you can here me and my dad go nuts talking about how we are getting better and to see this video makes me thrilled for the future
I know we play in the same division but I will never be able to hate the Orioles. They’re such a fun team, I also got to witness Adley’s first career homer
Being born in Baltimore and on the year we last won it 1983 June of 83 so this year has been so special
The Orioles will go ALL the way!
Dumping Chris Davis (and eating his contract) was the beginning of the turn-around.
Subscribed after this.
Awesome video man!
Awesome video my man, go Os!
Been a orioles fan since 1969 and it's been a long rebuild with Elias and Hyde. Many trying times but it seems to be working out ahead of schedule now and we are legit contenders. John Angelos will give Elias a long leash and trust his process. With Hyde we are winning at least 2 championships in the next 6 years.
So happy they are good again I’ve been in Baltimore since I was born and they haven’t been this good in my lifetime, I was born in 96😭😂
Great content! I would love to show this to my grandsons (huge O’s fans) but for the language. Hope you can leave that out in future videos. Thanks!
I love the background clips of all the orioles moments that go along with the story!! Great style of video!
I appreciate it!
what made 2018 so bad was how fast the collapse was. just 3 years before they were a playoff team.
The sad reality is they could have built their staff with Jake Arrietta, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Zach Davies, but that is baseball. Also, there was a handful of guys that just didn't pan out, like Chance Sisco and Oliver Drake. Really happy that the O's have turned it around.
@Sam0 B00 He could have been a decent 4 or 5 starter in that potential rotation, including Gausman and Tillman/Bundy.
We couldn’t develop players for shit, especially pitchers. Whoever Elias brought in for development sure knows what they’re doing cuz the difference is night and day now
@@OrioleFan336 Yeah, a lot of wasted talent. Bundy and Matusz had the stuff to be elite starters.
As a lifelong oriole fan, I’m 19 years old, so that’s not saying a lot I suppose lol it feels great to be a fan of a great ball club again.
I'd love too see a diamondbacks video like this. Great video keep up the great job
Man I can’t wait to see this during the playoffs
3:31 Ayo that play with the bunt and the ball going through buddy’s legs is wild… ain’t no way a professional baseball player is letting that go through his legs 😂
Hopefully Angelos doesn't ruin it when the rookie contracts run up
Kyle Bradish has really turned the corner the last couple months and is now the Os best starting pitcher. Rutschman, Henderson, Bautista and Bradish all made their major league debuts in 2022 and will be a strong core for Baltimore for the next 5 years.
And just think. We could be getting John means back in a couple of weeks. Playoff means could be deadly
One thing that a lot of people are forgetting about the 2022 season. Is that the orioles were only three games out of a wild card spot. Basically three games from making the playoffs. For a team that was protected to be lucky to not finish dead last last year that pretty damn good. Not great but good. As for some who has been a orioles fan his hole life. That's way better then I even thought they would do in 2022. Hopefully this season & the next couple they can keep it up because I would love to see my favorite team win the world series at least once in my lifetime.
I remember the Orioles of the 1970s and they were one of the best teams in the MLB. They were all great in batting, pitching, fielding and management with Earl Weaver as their skipper!
Great video! You have my subscription 👏
We need an update to this video. Best record in the American League. Let's go O's!!!!!!
As an orioles fan let me tell you it’s been hard 🤣😭
Mountcastle is my favorite new oriole and I'm hearing rumors he might be dealt only hoping he's not.
The White Sox went through a rebuild, but look where they're at? They hired Pedro Grifol as manager, and he led them to a 7-21 start to begin the season, including a 10 game losing streak. How Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams still have jobs is beyond me. And as long as cheap ass Jerry Reinsdorf owns the team, the Sox are nowheresville, because he's not committed to winning, and doesn't WANT a winner; he enjoys playing second fiddle to the Cubs.
New O's fan. This team is the real deal
Video is not giving Elias enough credit. No mention of Sig Mejdal and the embracing of analytics. There’s a reason the existing farm pieces also improved. No mention of the team signing multiple top international prospects after a decade of zero international presence and preferring to trade the international money. The team is good and will only get better. Elias set them up for the present and future to be a good team for a long time.
Well their new GM Elias was from the astros organization as well as scouts that came from that team too. Something about that 2015-present Astros management just seems to know something most teams don't.
As long as none of the hitters go 0-54 like Chris Davis, the Orioles will be great.
I’m kind of happy I say Orioles fan this year may be our year sure we might not win the World Series but if the Orioles do when it’s a comeback story
The O's are on fire
You should do another video about the d-backs because they have a similar story when it comes to records in the past years.
Better lockup adley for 15 years bros a stud
I think the wins had more to do with divisions. Last in the AL east could be 2nd in the AL central cause of the competition
Exactly. The O's were the class of the league during the 60s and 70s, on into 1983 - then stumbled hard in the late 80s. One big reason we never could get off the mat for more than a few years in the time since: the introduction of the unbalanced schedule, which put us against the moneybag teams for a disproportionate number of games per season.
Barring Devestating injuries to Core group of young talent, or just letting them walk over Money, Our ORIOLES Are a Dynasty in the making!
Just subscribed. You put out well researched, well developed content.
REQUEST: My lines above will not be changed by how you respond to this request 😂😂😂
Please do a vid on the Atlanta Braves. You've done a vid on a failed rebuild (at least so far) the White Sox, one on a developing rebuild starting to come into its own, the Orioles and doing one that features the Braves next makes since.
They are the between stage of the Astros and Orioles that is succeeding. They fit right into a certain logical structure.
Okay, I confess, I'm a Braves fans. But, just because I'm a Braves fan doesn't mean I'm wrong. 😊
The O's just need a star starting pitcher to take this all the way to the playoffs
I can't wait for the O's to have that meeting where they realize they have talent and decide to trade every single good player we have away just to save a few bucks.
Great video, thanks
Thank you‼️
My team's the Blue Jays because I live in Ontario. However, the Orioles are the best team (by far) in the AL EAST. I think they will win the American League Pennant & ultimately the World Series. This team is a powerhouse and every time Toronto plays Baltimore, it's like David vs. Goliath.
this team is still doing good and they are in the hardest division
You forgot Ramon Urias. He’s a big part of this team. He deserves to be the starting 3rd baseman.
Huge O's fan! My family never gave up on the "Birds"! We are proud to support them
The DBacks are up next! YEAHHHH
Its a bit weird watching my home team finally pull it together. Im 30 years old and this team never gave me any memories to the point that i gave up on them years ago. The last game I ever went to was THAT rangers game. You know the one. I went to one of their playoff games in 97 but i was barely 5 for that and dont much remember it. And I knew they werent doing anything with their mid 10s window because angelos had already proved by that point he cared more about stadium matainence than the on field product. Don't know if im ready to reinvest in a team thats never given me amy reason to care or not now. But im at least interested
Hard to really say they have turned around yet. However, they are definitely on a better track then the Jays. Good young hitters and a solid bullpen. Their starting pitching will be their Achilles heel.
I say this because it takes more then 1-2 years to officially turn around. These guys are young and winning could get to their heads (like the Jays)
I think you also have to mention moving the left field fence back 30 feet. Everyone said it was dumb but I thought it was brilliant
Crazy how both the baltimore Orioles and ravens rely on player development and the draft instead of big-name signings
The Orioles have been the sad sack of baseball for a long long time. It's great to see them at the top Interesting will be how long they can keep them competitive.
Good companion to the White Sox video
god willing this will be the reds next year 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Crazy to think three years ago they would have been beaten by the farm system. Lol. LET'S GO O'S!
Watching this video again they are 3 wins from winning 100 games!!!
crazy how this is just the beggining and they got kjerstad holliday mayo and more
I mean if you paid attention the O's got the dude that was behind the Astro's turnaround so I had faith they'd be able to do it.
orioles got that 3 championships in 5 year type of potential but for a longer time i just want 1 championship to be honest id be happy with one
2018 east reminds me a lot of the AL west rn
If only my white sox rebuild was as successful. It nice to see teams that struggled for a while see some success though. Exhausting seeing nothing but big money franchises win.
Give Adley all the money in the world.
I need to hear about Gold Glover Ramon Urias!
I feel like this video is a little pre-mature. Kinda like if someone made a similar video about the Royals 2 months into the 2014 season. Gotta wait and see how they do in the playoffs and if they make deep runs/win or make it to a World Series, and if they stay relevant. It was an interesting, informative video though!
#TheWarRoom, can u do a update of this podcast? Lol, we 25 games over 500, best record in the American League and has control over the devision as of today.
