To be honest in 2022 the Orioles showed a lot of potential and were super fun to watch, I'm not surprised they're doing what they're doing in 2023. Too many people distracted by the mega contracts handed by the Phillies (my team btw), the Mets and so on.
And historically over the last 25 years we normally have strong starts but by July we fall off. So I'm not going to get hyped until we can do this in July and August.
I mean the phillies and mets mean nothing to the O's chance of making the playoffs.... I think everyone was distracted by the Yankees, Rays and Blue jays in the AL East to think the O's while young stood any chance...
Shout-out to Mike Elias and Sig Mejdal for the successful rebuild. This is an exciting team. Last year was so fun to watch, and this year has been even better
Also the patience in both hiring Brandon Hyde & allowing him to manage the team through those painful 100+ loss seasons & sticking with him now as his hard work is now showing with how great of a start the 2023 season has been. Playing .650 ball or better won't continue all season, as every team will have bad stretches. But just keeping focus on the next game ( yes biggest sports Cliché, but is true) and winning each 3-4 game series, they will continue to silence the doubters, as they are a great & fun team to watch!!! Go O's !!! '
You're going to have to get through my Texas rangers! They have already proven that they can beat the Orioles in a series during the regular season, we'll have to see what happens in October if they meet 😅
Good video. Thank you for taking note of what the O's are doing (unlike a certtain so called "worldwide leader in sports"). A couple of other things to add: - Not long after his debut last year, Rutschman had a pretty bad stretch. I can't remember the exact numbers, but a good sized portion of the fan base was clamoring for him to go back to AAA. But the team's record was so bad at that point, it didn't hurt to leave him at the big league level and let him works things out (which he clearly did). Rodriguez is in a similar kind of rut at the moment, but with the team solidly in contention it makes more sense to let him straighten things out in Norfolk. - The O's have the 3rd (or 4th) best record in MLB, and their best pitcher (Means) hasn't thrown a single pitch this year. - The reason they could afford to move Lopez last year was the emergence of Batista. He became one of the most dominant closers in the league, and he's continuing to do so this year. - Despite the way the "experts" ranked the farm system for all those years, the core of this group (Mullins, Santander, Mountcastle, Hays, Means, Batista, Rodriguez) were all in the system before the tanking/rebuild began. - That isn't to say Elias doesn't deserve credit. He's had the Midas Touch when it comes to player acquisition. He got one of the pitchers you didn't mention (Kyle Bradish) in what has turned out to be a one sided trade for Dylan Bundy. He's found guys like Mateo, and made good, affordable FA signings like Gibson. And it seems like he's hit on just about all of his high round draft choices. From Rutschman and Henderson, to Westburg, Cowser, Kjerstad, Ortiz, Mayo, Norby, Holliday, etc - they've all performed remarkably well - which puts them in great position to get someone like Giolito at the deadline. The Orioles went to 6 world series between 1966 and 1983 (winning 3 of those). It's hard to believe they haven't returned to a single one in the last 40 years. But the pieces are in place to finally end that streak.
I’ve been an O’s fan since I can remember. Watching Jim Palmer pitch at Memorial Stadium, Earl Weaver and his antics, Cal Ripken Jr, Mike Mussina, and so on. But they haven’t been fun to watch lately until last year! I think every Baltimore fan felt stabbed in the heart when they traded Trey Mancini, but we still held onto hope and we finally had a winning season! 3 games back from a playoff spot was good for us. No big trades and acquisitions in the off season, so a lot of fans were concerned. Now it’s go time. These guys have gotten so much better this year and if they can keep this up, we might see the playoffs for the first time in almost a decade.
Man Memorial Stadium was MAGICAL….I had a huge railing that my brother and I drunkenly ripped from the concrete at the very last Ravens game there…should of never tore it down, should’ve been like Fenway

Go O's!!! Been a pleasant surprise this season, sweeping Toronto in Toronto, taking the series in New york I've been wearing my orioles gear super proudly this year! ⚾⚾⚾☀️
Unfortunately, the O's are in a much smaller market and will be lucky to retain their young talent, let alone bring in good veterans via trade or free agency like the Braves did. The sad reality of baseball.
The Orioles operate like a small market team due to some of the contracts mentioned in this video. Hell Bobby Bonilla still collects 1.35 million a year from the O's until 2026 / though not as bad as the Mets paying him 1 million + until 2034 ( Have to check the actual numbers). But you can see why they are more cautious about large contracts, but they can afford to pay them. In next few years, starting with Mullins they will have to begin deciding who will be signed to large money & long-term contracts. The owner, Angelos's Son now in charge is the wild-card!! He was one who flirted with idea of moving team to Memphis. Orioles are part of Baltimore & new 99-100 year deal with city ended any rumors of team ever moving. But he he is not his Dad in terms of owning the team!!
At the beginning of last year I was reminding myself that I may not see Adley in the bigs until next season. Then I was surprised. Now, I’m convinced the only people surprised by the Os just haven’t been watching them. As someone geographically compelled to watch them, for the past three or four years, I can’t blame y’all. I think the Jorge Lopez trade was read as the Os prolonging the rebuild. Instead it’s already paid off with Cano’s amazing start, and he’s one of three guys in that trade. Mike Elias is very good at what he does. Hopefully he’s here for more than one WS win. John needs to think about what his father stood for during the strike and pay these guys. Let’s👏Go👏Os👏.
I’m still skeptical, especially with the pitching staff having allowed more base hits, runs, and walks than in 2022, but I’m glad we’re showing we aren’t pushovers.
Orioles for years went after free agents that never paid off. Getting your house in order starts in the front office. Getting a plan, sticking to the plan, letting good young talent develop is the way. Been a long time.
I know Adam Frazier isn’t the flashiest signing but he has been a huge upgrade from Odor. But yes they need to do more the compete and that means spending more money and or making trades with some risk
Most had confidence in the team itself. Most had little confidence in the Starting Rotation, Mainly Gibson, Kremer, Bradish, Hall , Wells, and yes, Grayson. Know body could predict or knew how they would perform this season.
Losing Mullins for a few weeks due to a groin injury is gonna be difficult to replace. He's been arguably the most consistent and complete player so far this season. Hoping we see Cowser soon up in Baltimore to fill in until he comes back
Can’t wait to see what Jackson Holliday can do--if he’s anything like his dad, Baltimore has some serious talent and a franchise cornerstone type player on the way.
I wouldn’t say it’s too surprising. I mean the pitching has been better than expected for sure. But the two young teams I thought would have a huge leap this year were the orioles and Dbacks
Looking stong now in the second half of the season too. Also the Os haven't been sweept since Rutchman came up either there has to be something to that right?
This year so many teams that were mediocre or terrible a few year ago are near top in their division. I want to see some underdogs make it to the World Series this year. I kind of want the Orioles vs. Brewers
Excellent video as always Man BTW, you think you could ever do a deep dive on the success the Tampa Bay Rays have had since 2008? The former with a net differential of 0 over 3 games. The latter being their first big series triumph but they’d avenge the series loss after the teams settled in blasting the orioles with a differential of +11. Then the pirates with a differential of a single run. Split with the angels differential of +1. Blue jays worth noting right outside the 1/3 mark despite being bottom of the table due to it being a sweep which is the only the 3rd time. Let that sink in - they have a 63% win rate & only swept 3 teams and they were bad (+Detroit). Still need to check today if they ended up sweeping Kansas City as that might qualify but I’ll exclude today. Compare that to say Atlanta 61% win rate and have swept double that amount (also excluding today as braves were on pace to sweep the nats but need to go check so excluding to be apples to apples). Lot lord I could type for now, I’ll happily be proven wrong but I think you’re missing some of the nuance that has them with such a pretty record. Maybe I’m a broken man though overtaken by cynicism haha who knows
Orioles are really good. To be a title contender they need to go trade for a good vetran pitcher. Means this season cant be relyed upon unfortunately. Orioles should take a few young prospects like DL Hall and Stowers and trade for another starting pitcher. Rodriguez has potential but isnt ready to be a playoff starting pitcher. Nice piece. I'm excited. Personally, I consider an earlier start to the Orioles' turnaround -- I believe it started on 8-25-2021 at Camden Yards. The O's rolled into that game with an 18-game losing streak and the red hot Shohei Ohtani was the Angels starting pitcher. This was Ohtani's first time playing at Camden Yard. His very first pitch of the game resulted in a Mullins HR and the O's went on to complete a dramatic victory, thus breaking the potential record-setting losing streak. The atmosphere at the stadium was electric. I believe this game is what put everything in motion for the Orioles to where they are now at the top of the AL in July 2023 😎 ruclips.net/video/LS7DiFSHuUc/видео.html
There is only one thing that is inaccurate about this video. The only thing that Jorge Lopez did for the Orioles is steal Anthony Santander’s all star spot. He was horrible for us, and trading him is the best thing we have done in maybe ten years, other than drafting Adley. This is proven by the success of Bautista, by far the most underrated closer in the game.

3 out of 4 lost and Grayson sent down and hope Mullins injury isn't major. I hope this ain't the start of a bad slump
this could be a pivotal moment for them
I think the O's will spend big on a pitcher this offseason maybe someone like Julio Urias or something
Maybe Aaron Nola? Although I could see them going for a cheaper pitcher like Blake Snell or Luis Severino
Jorge Mateo has really been great
"including Drew Kremer" lmao
IF WE ONLY HAD AN OWNER WHO SPENT A LITTLE MONEY.
WE WOULD BE AMAZING!
Short answer: Adley Rutschman
love my o’s baby nice to see the losing seasons finally pay off
I believe this game is what put everything in motion for the Orioles to where they are now at the top of the AL in July 2023 😎

You can really tell when someone hasn't watched baseball more than a season
There is only one thing that is inaccurate about this video. The only thing that Jorge Lopez did for the Orioles is steal Anthony Santander’s all star spot. He was horrible for us, and trading him is the best thing we have done in maybe ten years, other than drafting Adley. This is proven by the success of Bautista, by far the most underrated closer in the game.
I really thought all the predictions were wrong I don’t understand why they predict them to be so bad when they did so good
