I agree with everything said here, except one part: the Braves’ minor league system. I don’t think it’s depleted. People said it was depleted going into this year, and now we have 3 rookies making an impact at the major league level. I think these minor league system ratings get way too caught up in how many hyped prospects they have, without taking into consideration the track record of player development. We still have players we could call up right now if we needed to. They’re just not known to many people outside of hardcore Braves fans.
The braves are basically paying acuna and albies league minimum salary (joke). Also, that dodgers graphic at the end is insane. Number 2 farm system and best record in MLB (with 4 former mvps and 7 capable playoff starters)
I find it funny the Braves were ranked so low on farm system, because we proved that is wrong this year. How can you at the preseason be ranked so low, and then have the 2 players that would win ROTY most years at the same time. And grissom is here also making a case with insane numbers. Maybe they should look at the system again lol
@@darith770 we had a low farm system BEFORE the season tho, and now we have some AA players kicking ass. Yea now we might but, still after the gross underestimation they should check again lol
The Braves won 101 games this season. Even though they came up short in the post season, but it was a great season, considering all the injuries and many of the players not playing at the top of their ability.
I think the Astros will be a Dynasty, as long as they can keep their pitching staff. They are also another very smart team. The Mets tried to buy their way again this off-season and didn't get Carlos Correa. Some bad luck for them, but they still have a very strong team. But, we will see how their team chemistry pans out this season.
The Braves are doing these young cats a favor if you ask me. They perform they make more, its that easy. Thats what the players and owners agreed on so the Braves aren't doing anything wrong by giving these young guys guaranteed money and the opportunity to make more. And lets not forget that some of these Braves will be young enough to get another contract which could potentially be more.
Great contracts. But weirdos like you are the reason why people call so many teams “failed dynasties”. They aren’t even going to win their division. Don’t count your eggs before they hatch. Cubs, Astros, etc. don’t even say the word dynasty until you get 2
The Braves still have a chance to win the division and they’ll make the postseason one way or another but I agree that the “dynasty” talk is pointless until you have at least two trophies in a short time...and even then I still don’t think it’s indisputable.
I feel like something not many people are considering is the possibility that the Braves players consistently signing for less may have less to do with the Front Office being cheap and the players not knowing their worth, but perhaps the players just *want* to play for Atlanta. A good chunk of the players on the team seem actively invested in the city beyond their job description of playing for the team, and the core has impeccable chemistry, they're all best friends or close to it. Add onto this the fact that especially after last year this org has a winning reputation...why would you ever want to leave?
As a Warriors fan, the Braves are the Golden State Warriors of the Mlb, they draft well and have on of the best player development systems in the league
Obviously one title doesn’t make you a dynasty but you definitely can’t become a dynasty without winning the first title first. They already took care of that. Now they need to win again in the very near future.
Did you pay attention to the video? No one is calling them a dynasty yet because of 1 WS win. Just that winning that WS is the first big step in becoming a dynasty.
In the ‘90s they didn’t win a World Series until their third appearance. They won in their first World Series appearance this time around. That obviously doesn’t guarantee a dynasty but dynasties usually don’t take several World Series appearances to finally win one.
@@Confecting Atlanta needs to win another World Series soon to end two narratives... 1. The narrative that they're a one-hit wonder 2. The narrative that they can't win a title without Freddie Freeman
the Yankees never bought their way to their dynasty lmfao. 2009 was bought. At least their dynasty was home grown, Which is what the Mets are going for. Down the line they’re gonna get guys like baty, alvarez, and even vientos into the lineup. Don’t act as if this isn’t good for baseball
The Yankees dynasty did include a lot of free agents but they did put a good core together first. You have better team chemistry when you have a lot of players who came up through the minors together.
AA has been a God's send and has really turned this team around. And its nice to see that he is giving back to us Braves Fans by spending some money. On the other hand We don't have to spend the type of money that the Dodgers and Mets do. All I can ask for is a contender ever year. The last 5 years have been fun to watch. Winning the 2021 World Series was so satisfying because we weren't expected to win it all at the Allstar break.
1 WS win doesn't make them a dynasty yet. You have to win multiple in a short span. Just look at the 14 year run the Braves went on in the 1990's-2000's. 14 straight division titles, 1 WS win. There's plenty of other teams as well that looked like they were on the verge if a dynasty and it never happened and you're left with another "what if" story.
We’re definitely not a dynasty right now. If we win again this year or next then you can at least start the conversation but I think you need three to be a true dynasty.
Hello Sportstorm, I’ve watched your videos for a few years now. Great job documenting the Atlanta Braves. This is an example of build a team from the ground up. Keep up the great work. Thank You, Braves Fan Mr Lane Sir
The Braves are indeed a very well run team. But IDK about dynasty. The competition is stronger than ever today, and sometimes you just need some luck / breaks to go your way. Nothing is ever guaranteed, like you pointed out with the White Sox.
I might be a Yankee fan, but I know when I see a potentially decade-dominating team. The Atlanta Braves look like they are that team. I still think the Dodgers, Astros & Mets win Championships this decade as well. They're all good teams. But the Braves have a very good young core and great player development that I haven't seen in a long, long time.
I just hope Atlanta can win more than one title this time around unlike in the '90s. I don't expect to win four out of five like the Yankees did during their dynasty run but three titles over seven or eight years would still be great.
No one said it was a dynasty. They said that there's dynasty potential...but obviously they need to win a World Series again very soon to really get that conversation started.
The Braves have a giant strategy that you do not mention. What do Austin Riley, Matt Olsen, and Michael Harris II have in common? They grew up in The SE and were Braves fans. Dansby Swanson did as well. That is how they got on team friendly deals.
This Braves team is absolutely insane you would think it couldn't get better after a title in 2021 and after they lost Freeman you would think that's the peak of the Braves but it probably won't be with their absolutely crazy young core

@@87Khein I would feel so ashamed I would use most of my hundred dollar bills to dry my tears In between my 5 star meals, penthouse hotel rooms and first class flights I can’t imagine the shame
This is one of the smartest front offices in the league, they are looking to be the east coast version of the LA Dodgers. 1. Recruit top notch talent who also grew up near Atlanta, were Atlanta fans as kids, have interest in being a brave. 2. Cultivate talent within their farm system. 3. Sign them to long term contracts. This is very the similar to the LA Dodgers approach.
The thing is,Acuna underperformed this year so we will really have to see what he does next year along with Riley (yes he hit with a lot of power but average went down and underperformed in playoffs). But what kills me is they signed old man Charlie Morton to a 21 million dollar deal. The worst starter in the roster. To a 21 million dollar deal.
Braves owner wants to win, other small market owners want to make money, if the player they pay before they prove their worth, they won’t wanna risk it with the chance they lose money. They aren’t putting a contender on the field, they wanna put 1-2 big names to draw crowds.
As a fan of an AL West team who is unbiased in the matter I don't know if it will work. Uncle Steve over there in Queens has shown that he's willing to write blank checks. Yeah the Braves have a bunch of really good players locked up long term, but Steve Cohen is going to hand out mega deals to the really great players.
@@87Khein You forgot to add the red sox, nats and giants to this list.. All these clubs in the top 7 or 8 in opening day payroll in their championship years. You are correct that money doesn't gurantee trophies, but from the list, it appears it gives you better odds to do it
Can we just stop with the “dynasty” talk. Dynasties are talked s out after multiple championships are won. AA is building a REALLY good team & filling the pipeline with really good players that will keep them competing for years to come. Nothing more. Nothing less. If in 7-8 years they’ve one 3-4 WS titles? Then call them a dynasty.
It could also easily blow up in their face (see Chicago White Sox) - the chances of a major fire sale if the team underperforms is high, because Atlanta cannot sustain payroll over the luxury tax for long, and Liberty Media isn't known for spending over the tax. Basically, it's World Series or bust. Especially concerned about the pitching - Morton, Soroka and Fried are FAs in 2 years, and no way in hell Atlanta can afford to pay Fried, and Soroka's had injury issues, and Morton's likely retiring after this contract.. and the farm is barren.
AA is literally the best GM in baseball. He just has an eye for finding players that teams write off and turning them into stars. He literally did what Billy did in Moneyball except he won the last game of the season. We call it the Battery because AA powers it.
Sorry but Andrew Friedman is the best gm in baseball.Dodgers have made a bunch of average players no one wanted into all stars or good pitchers. But I won't lie the braves are loaded and will be dangerous for good while.I do give credit to the gm for getting there players to sign cheaper contracts. That guy is a genius. There scouting is top notch.
They very well could have....if not for losing Freeman and now Swanson. Part of being a so-called "dynasty" is keeping key components of the team over the long haul.
Having a PSA 9 rated and documented Riley rookie month ball (documented in his first two weeks more exactly) where he was also MVP .. It's an heirloom that I'll never sell.
Them and the Dodgers are the best organizations in Baseball…hands down I put the Dodgers in front just because since 2013 they have dominated their division…and the Dodgers have done it longer but the Braves are a close second…I would say the Astros in the AL just what they have done with Pitching and they Draft and Sign internationally better then everyone…the Dodgers and Braves did it slide slightly differently…Dodgers a Mix of Home grown and smart free agent signings and fixing players that other teams gave up…The Braves mostly home grown and signing them long term cheap deals…the Soxs im from Chicago they got away to go honestly like 2-3 years still need more pieces NL Braves and Dodgers are ahead of everyone in team building

I think these minor league system ratings get way too caught up in how many hyped prospects they have, without taking into consideration the track record of player development. We still have players we could call up right now if we needed to. They’re just not known to many people outside of hardcore Braves fans.
This was a very well researched and eye opening video about my favorite team ❤️ good stuff keep it up.
Thank you!
The braves are basically paying acuna and albies league minimum salary (joke). Also, that dodgers graphic at the end is insane. Number 2 farm system and best record in MLB (with 4 former mvps and 7 capable playoff starters)
That is much easier to do when you have easily the highest payroll.
I find it funny the Braves were ranked so low on farm system, because we proved that is wrong this year. How can you at the preseason be ranked so low, and then have the 2 players that would win ROTY most years at the same time. And grissom is here also making a case with insane numbers. Maybe they should look at the system again lol
@@SphealDude Braves have a "low" farm b/c their prospects graduated to the big show :)
@@darith770 we had a low farm system BEFORE the season tho, and now we have some AA players kicking ass. Yea now we might but, still after the gross underestimation they should check again lol
If the Braves had the dodgers money. They could sign Judge and Degrom in the off season.
It will work. And i hate it
At 6:18 if you want to be technical, Morton was a free agent signing, but he WAS drafted and made his debut with Atlanta
Yeah I nearly mentioned that
Yeah I nearly mentioned that
The Braves won 101 games this season. Even though they came up short in the post season, but it was a great season, considering all the injuries and many of the players not playing at the top of their ability.
Honestly, them coming back and winning the nl east alone made me happy. They'll be good next year.
Great video. Hoping for at least one more WS victory with this core intact. Looks promising, but as you touched on, you never know.
Mets are going to keep that from happening
They’re certainly a team that could stop the Braves
Mets always find ways to lose. Go Astros! Will be a WS rematch of Braves/Astros this year
Pretty easy when you have to buy your talent, weak ass farm system
Damn, this is why it's not smart to say anything as a guarantee.
GoodLuck trying to Win 3 WorldSeries in a Row like they did in the '90s with Glavine, Gant, Klesko, Maddux and Justice
Braves scouting is insane. They have a kid that was a 9th round pick that's lighting up double a right now.
Come on dude… grossman left my tigers and went to the braves and hit .217 lol let’s not act like the braves saved his career
Was waiting for this ! ❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽
I luv my braves! Been watching the thru the 70's & 80's! So ya know... I LUV my Braves!!!
More Braves content please!!
This Braves team is so much fun to watch! This season as been fun especially the last 3 months!
As a Warriors fan, the Braves are the Golden State Warriors of the Mlb, they draft well and have on of the best player development systems in the league
Being a Braves fan, This team is really exciting to watch play
Please winning 1 WS doesn’t make you a dynasty team lol
someone didnt watch the video
Obviously one title doesn’t make you a dynasty but you definitely can’t become a dynasty without winning the first title first. They already took care of that. Now they need to win again in the very near future.
Did you pay attention to the video? No one is calling them a dynasty yet because of 1 WS win. Just that winning that WS is the first big step in becoming a dynasty.
salty dodgers fan or mets fan?
@@VinnyI6420 none lol but good guess.
Harris hits dingers
Franco....Well....we know now
That Strider transition was dope, subbed
Thanks!
They did something very similar in the late 1980's going into the 1990's.
This video is lookin nice at midseason
60 win at the midseason point. This video might Age like fine wine
The Braves are the most exciting team in baseball.
as a mets fan, i certainly hope not
😂
it would be very good if the mets AND braves both stayed consistently good btw
The Mets/Braves matchups will be fun to watch for the next few years
NL East is crazy this year
I respect the comparison to the White Sox but I highly doubt the Braves bring in an 80 year old alcoholic manager
Yes cuz it worked for their dynasty in the 90s Lmfaooo
In the ‘90s they didn’t win a World Series until their third appearance. They won in their first World Series appearance this time around. That obviously doesn’t guarantee a dynasty but dynasties usually don’t take several World Series appearances to finally win one.
If Freeman was still here, considering the form they're in and freddie is in, a lock for the WS for sure
Matt is cool, but he ain’t Freddie that’s for damn sure
@@Confecting Atlanta needs to win another World Series soon to end two narratives...
1. The narrative that they're a one-hit wonder
2. The narrative that they can't win a title without Freddie Freeman
Alex Anthopoulos is the best Gm in the league
Mets are like the new Yankees trying to buy their championships but we all know the mets are going to met.
Mets always find ways to lose. WS rematch of Braves/Astros this year
the Yankees never bought their way to their dynasty lmfao.
@@Windyyyyyyyyy@87Khein 3 or 4 players drafted and the rest are over paid. Thats buying a championship lol keep telling your self that tho.
@@darith770 Brave vs Indians I think
I got to watch strider at a lookouts game. Nasty stuff along with amazing speed. Not to mention his mom sat right behind my family.
Replace Olson with Freddie Freeman and the shot of it happening would be higher
AA has been a God's send and has really turned this team around. And its nice to see that he is giving back to us Braves Fans by spending some money. On the other hand We don't have to spend the type of money that the Dodgers and Mets do. All I can ask for is a contender ever year. The last 5 years have been fun to watch. Winning the 2021 World Series was so satisfying because we weren't expected to win it all at the Allstar break.
Were not trying to build a Dynasty. WERE ARE A DYNASTY!!
Chill
Bruh
Thank You,
Braves Fan Mr Lane Sir
Man you’ve been watching since the beginning, that’s amazing. Thank you!
The Braves are just another team. Very unlikely to be the SF Giants of this decade.
I agree that they need to win at least one more before they even start this conversation.
The Braves are indeed a very well run team. But IDK about dynasty. The competition is stronger than ever today, and sometimes you just need some luck / breaks to go your way. Nothing is ever guaranteed, like you pointed out with the White Sox.
I'd like to see a Braves/White Sox World Series matchup. Obviously the White Sox won't be getting there this year...but maybe in 2023 or 2024.
Braves also lost prospects for paying international free agents under the table a few years back
5 division titles in a row, a NLCS trip in 20 and winning a WS in 21 isn't a dynasty
No one said it was a dynasty. They said that there's dynasty potential...but obviously they need to win a World Series again very soon to really get that conversation started.
The Dodgers have a dynasty
The Braves have a giant strategy that you do not mention. What do Austin Riley, Matt Olsen, and Michael Harris II have in common? They grew up in The SE and were Braves fans. Dansby Swanson did as well. That is how they got on team friendly deals.
I hope Braves falls off the cliff cause they underplayed for the quality
Really well structured argument🥴
Butt-hurt much?
What does any of that even mean?
This Braves team is absolutely insane you would think it couldn't get better after a title in 2021 and after they lost Freeman you would think that's the peak of the Braves but it probably won't be with their absolutely crazy young core
Love how the braves front office works I know they got best this year but after winning last year and the young talent they have locked up its safe to say they'll be back
I think baseball is the hardest sport to have a true dynasty.
It definitely is because it's such a streaky game. Hall of Fame hitters only get a hit 33 percent of the time at most.
In AA we trust
This video changed my perception of Braves
The front office is awful for what they've done to the players market. All the players who signed these contracts should be ashamed of themselves.
They should be ashamed of themselves for making millions of dollars to play a game?
@@87Khein I would feel so ashamed I would use most of my hundred dollar bills to dry my tears
In between my 5 star meals, penthouse hotel rooms and first class flights
I can’t imagine the shame
This is one of the smartest front offices in the league, they are looking to be the east coast version of the LA Dodgers. 1. Recruit top notch talent who also grew up near Atlanta, were Atlanta fans as kids, have interest in being a brave. 2. Cultivate talent within their farm system. 3. Sign them to long term contracts. This is very the similar to the LA Dodgers approach.
Dodgers also buy a lot of their talent.... I dont think they are that similar.
I saw this coming years ago. It astounds me that more small market teams don’t do this.
Braves owner wants to win, other small market owners want to make money, if the player they pay before they prove their worth, they won’t wanna risk it with the chance they lose money. They aren’t putting a contender on the field, they wanna put 1-2 big names to draw crowds.
@@DJ_107 It depends. The Rays want to win and they don’t typically do this (although Wander is now an exception).
The fact that the agent would intentionally and frequently use the word “stole” tells you all you need to know about the agent.
Thank you I needed it that let's go braves 💙 🙌 👏 💪
Amazing!
How many titles have the Dodgers, Angels, Yankees and Phillies combined for in the last 10 years? Money doesn’t guarantee trophies.
Go Braves! Best Organization in Baseball. They don't have to buy their Championship teams. They build up from the ground.
I want to believe
Yea.... Atlanta won't have any issues replenishing their farm system. Most likely in very short order.
Them and the Dodgers are the best organizations in Baseball…hands down I put the Dodgers in front just because since 2013 they have dominated their division…and the Dodgers have done it longer but the Braves are a close second…I would say the Astros in the AL just what they have done with Pitching and they Draft and Sign internationally better then everyone…the Dodgers and Braves did it slide slightly differently…Dodgers a Mix of Home grown and smart free agent signings and fixing players that other teams gave up…The Braves mostly home grown and signing them long term cheap deals…the Soxs im from Chicago they got away to go honestly like 2-3 years still need more pieces
NL Braves and Dodgers are ahead of everyone in team building
Astros and Braves are the only potential dynasties rn imo
And as a blue jays fan I believe Michael Harris is better than Vladdy
Unpopular opinion but a lot of people already consider the astros a dynasty
