Thanks to this video I finally realized the problem with the GoPros (all of them): they suck when being used in a forest AND uploaded to RUclips! This combination, no matter what you do will give you terrible results. Just look at the videos you shot in the city and the quality you get from the GoPro. Quite amazing I’d say. I own a GoPro 6 black and when I shoot my vlog / videos in the forest I get the same bad quality that you just got with the GoPro 10 (on YT). I think GoPro sensor has difficulty with busy forest background but most importantly, RUclips KILLS your video quality when you upload it by limiting the bandwidth you get. 12Mbps MAX when you upload in 1080P. 68Mbps in 4K. Not enough to render thousands of moving leaves 🍁 sharply. I wanted to upgrade to GoPro 10 but not sure I want anymore 😖 until RUclips allows better uploading bandwidth. Kasey, have you ever noticed that with your videos: they look great on your PC and quality is bad after being uploaded to YT ?
How is it the GoPro’s fault 😅 YT trash the bitrate during their re-encoding, and foliage is too hard on h264 and HEVC to withstand that drop. The 10 shot at 100mbps, YT halves it…

I've bought the DJI just because is sooooo cheap and still a GREAT action camera. Now, gopro10 is better.. the slow-motion 4k is wonderful. But I won't pay double for it. I hope the new dji action will give us some nice surprises!

It seems Osmo Action 2 is gonna be revealed on October 27th, along with a Cinema "frankenstein" camera on Oct 20th and a new Mavic 3 on Nov 5th. The most exciting one for me is the reveal of the Osmo Action 2. And that's when I really gonna enjoy viewing this channel's content for sure. Hype is just arriving already! Hype traiiiiiin!!!
I think for the money the DJI is more usable and that wins for regular creators, the gopro looks a bit cartoonish in colour but i guess that could be fixed in post but all the irritations with cages doors take this off to get that etc that you mention is a real pain if you are using it constantly. I think the dji action 2 could be a real game changer if they get it right, which i think they might.
The DJI just looks flat, digital, and lacking dynamic range compared to the GP10. Having said that, I think the best way to use the GP10 is to shoot in flat colour (did you use natural colour? I think even that mode has a little too much vibrance/contrast). and low sharpening, and just drop a little bit of sharpening + tiny bit of contrast during post processing on the clip. Then it looks freaking amazing for an action cam, with almost no editing effort required
The GoPro looks better, but not by much. Definitely not enough of a difference to warrant the cost. I'm still using the OA and will continue to use it until there is a better, affordable option. What I love about dji, is that 2 years after releasing the osmo action, they still release firmware updates for the camera. GoPro abandons it's former cameras the minute a new one is released.
I've had my Osmo Action for a few years now and when people ask if it's a go pro and I tell em its a DJI they don't even know that it exists. I'm hoping on the new action they are putting out will still compare to the first one. It's such a beast for such a small camera.
Just got the Dji osmo on last August for 185$,got extra batteries, a pack of filter so total I spent was around 350$, For beginner I’m good to go. Even the osmo 2 will come out very soon, but for the body itself,its gonna cost 400-600$..and then you need to get other accessories..that means more money 🙏🙏 the osmo action is first gen old model but it has solid design,small and pretty good functions features for my needs.
GoPro 10 definitely is more saturated, at times, with heavily detailed forest backgrounds it and the Dji seem to just not look good, once the background is clear they look so much better. The glimmer glass did nothing on the GoPro. I do find these comparisons to be interesting, but sometimes they become confusing and trying to detect differences is at times eye straining. Be interesting to have the GoPro 10, 9 and 8 in a shoot out. Always get a chuckle out of your vids, thanks!

BTW you mention a Slow-mo profile on the GoPro 10. Pray tell where your seeing that? It was on the 9 but at on my 10 it has run away, maybe over to the DJI. Mine is gone!! Instead of trying to make audio work on GoPro, why don’t you just use Rode Wireless Go II with the onboard audio recording? Pull audio directly off the Rode and simply sync it across multiple cameras for a one stop audio solution? I’ve almost given up all hope for decent audio out of these action cams and I certainly don’t see DJI Action 2 having a decent audio solution given it’s tiny size.
Writing while video is in progress. "Dynamic range" includes highlight rendering as well as shadows. The GoPro is better in low light and shadows. The DJI handles highlights much better. The GoPro's 5K is good but 4K is definitely overshadowed and oversaturated. I usually bring it down in post (Hero 8). I would never use a GoPro without a media mod but I can't argue against the points you brought up.

Before you get rid of the GoPro 10 you should try the Max Lens Mod. Apparently it's not compatible yet though. Firmware update coming in November according to DJI.
We all know the answer is to give them both away (or maybe keep em for comparison awhile!) and get the DJI Action 2! I'd love to see how the Action 2 compares to my DJI pocket 2 which I'm quite happy with. I bet it's gonna rock compared to the gopro based on my experience with DJI thus far.

Hey, I need your guys’ help: what causes artifacting in movement? Even at 100mbps these small sensors artifact harder than a team of archaeologists. What else causes artifacting? Because data rate clearly isn’t the only factor

It could be the way the image (video?) processing software deals with low light, trying to reduce noise and ending up with a bunch of blotches. On the other hand, in the old days, when I ripped a DVD and compressed the video to get it on one it to one CD, very similar thing happened. Because every frame could have only so much data, only some difference from the last frame can be stored. So if there is just a small difference between two succeeding frames (=slow movement), everything looks perfect, since all differences can be stored. If the movement is fast, every frame is very different than the last one, but there is no space to store all the difference, the result is blotchiness. So, I don't really know:)
Well GoPro 10 landed on my doorstep 2 weeks ago. I couldn't resist. I think it attracts mosquitoes though... I bite my nails so I definitely worry about causing a bloody mess opening the battery door. I also don't know what to do with the audio. Do I get the Media Mod? I await your wisdom. I do think the 10 is far richer in more cases than the DJI... but Action 2 is around the corner. Anyway I saved for GoPro 10 and a Mavic Pro 3... so my money is on their drone tech. hey, I owned a Civic, I wish I kept it lol. Looking at the footage I'd say they should have named it dji REaction - it does not react as fast as the GP10 when light changes. A lot of flaring on the 10 though. Can't believe what I am about to say - 10 is more .. cinematic lol :P better sky and saturation.
Plus the current $200 price point. At least for me. I also just got a good deal on the $700 osmo action platform- the FPV drone. From what I've read, they are nearly the same camera. I'll find out tomorrow.
Hey. I‘m not sure where to ask for your brilliant advice. So I‘m gonna try here. 2022 I will do some big hikes in the US. I wan‘t to do hiking vlogs. Additional I want to take good stills. Mostly landscape, rarely wildlife. Searching for something powerful and reliable. Since GoPro is not reliable at all I‘m tending towards RX100 M7. Angry about the 2.8. Another tool could be the Sony a6xxx + something 24-70 (don‘t want to change lenses). Any other suggestions? Thank you very much!
I have the a6600 with the 18-135 and I love it. That’s just my opinion tho... Trying to save up for the new Tamron 18-300 I believe it is... I think that would be my ultimate all around rig.... It’s hard to love the image from either, but DJI ftw for usability. I’ve had that loop that you used during the time lapse stuck in my head since you used it in a7s v s5.
Excellent video. I just replaced my DJI Actin. For some Moments I thought of buying GoPro 10, and after watching all unboxig videos filmed with a Sony. Should I better wait for Action 2? I decided to buy action 1 again. Price 234,-€ /GoPro 10 Pricr 539,-€ and only sold by GoPro. I'm really interested how much we have to pay for action2 and which bundles we should buy, because it has no screen and a small battery.
I noticed the DJI action I have sucks for up close video that has text that needs to be read, it's just not sharp enough. I'm not sure if its just the way the camera is or if the camera is defective. I tried different recording modes and speeds and didn't notice any improvements. Any thoughts?
@@cameraconspiracies any recommendations? I'm a RUclipsr that does mechanical repairs and sometimes I like to show the schematic or wiring diagrams and they just look blah. I can sharpen it with DaVinci but it's a lot of work to do that for what I need. Thank you for responding so quickly. I dont know what happened, the last time you showed the GP10 footage I was impressed. Now they both look like trash, the GP10 looked better, but still trash. BTW, the glimmer glass doesn't seem to have any effect to my perception. Do I need glasses or should it be renamed to placebo glass?
I didn't like it the DJI Action 2 on release. It seemed gimmicky to me (at least for my hassle free requirements). Don't care for Go Pro either. I just ordered a second Osmo Action 1 as it is now discontinued. No regrets.
I don't think modular is a bad idea, if it's done well and the price is reasonable. It's an easy way to appease the masses with a little something for everyone. But I'm very much looking forward to this next version, whatever it may be.
@@Finite-Tuning it all depends if it has a huge sensor it may be worth it but if it does not then probably not so much. I don't need 5.3k but it would be nice to have a good sensor with great features and processor to handle it.
Dude, the Osmo Action is decent at half the price of the Gopro 10 which has all the bells and whistles. What I'm trying to say is, even though the Osmo Action 2 will offer slightly better upgrades compared to the Gopro 10, honestly, the Osmo one or the earlier Gopro's at series 8 offer decent performance at similar level.
sorry to say, but it seems as if you're looking for problems nobody else really has with the GoPro. - why shouldnt you have to change settings to your requirement? - who has to change SD cards while on a day out? the average video is around 3minutes according to gopro. i get >4 hours on my card
Try producing daily videos and you'll find these annoyances. Nobody is changing the SD card on the go, it's when you want the files off your computer that I literally need a tool to open the door with. It should be solved with the Ulanzi cage though.
Looking like the $199 (US) deals for the DJI Osmo Action are going away -- you would think that they would keep them around since they are introducing the follow-on camera....
Barely any difference in the picture. Both look good - for action cameras. Better than spending $1400 on an iPhone 13 Pro Max. DJI for the MONEY = WIN!!!!!!!!
i have 2 osmo actions.. use em often to make atv videos.. so 1080p@50 they are awesome.. 2 years not 1 issue .. have a gopro 7 black.. dont use it, because its fiddly.. helmet off gloves off change settings helmet on gloves on... out of the forrest, same shit again... and ofc the price... if you have something that works well.. why change... try making fast moving footage in and out a forest.. lets see who wins then.. walking around all should be able to not mess that up.
oh and the osmo is not perfect..far from it. when you ride you cant adjust settings all the time.. however overall usage/film/practicality/durability/price its really good. For normal users like us mere mortals... 😂 4 years its out and it still gives gopro a hard time.

The DJI has HDR video now with a firmware update. You should try it to compare with te GO PRO wich has HRD ON by default.

If you press both buttons (Side slightly ahead of top) on the Gopro you can switch between presets. 😌

If gopro starts under exposing by 0.3 ev,the faces will no more clip,i think that will make it perfect

There is only one thing to say ... 3'40" you turned on, went through your custom settings, and started recording on the DJI just using one hand

Yes .. the Osmo Action is still hanging in there nicely ... not stressed at all ... the Action 2 should make GoPro sweat.
for your test with dynamic range with background light. touch the gopro screen and hold to bring up spot metering.
Ye usability is king both look good enough comparatively.
Plus the current $200 price point. At least for me. I also just got a good deal on the $700 osmo action platform- the FPV drone. From what I've read, they are nearly the same camera. I'll find out tomorrow.

2022 I will do some big hikes in the US.
I wan‘t to do hiking vlogs. Additional I want to take good stills. Mostly landscape, rarely wildlife.
Searching for something powerful and reliable.
Since GoPro is not reliable at all I‘m tending towards RX100 M7. Angry about the 2.8.
Another tool could be the Sony a6xxx + something 24-70 (don‘t want to change lenses).
Any other suggestions?

I have the a6600 with the 18-135 and I love it. That’s just my opinion tho... Trying to save up for the new Tamron 18-300 I believe it is... I think that would be my ultimate all around rig.... Excellent video. I just replaced my DJI Actin. For some Moments I thought of buying GoPro 10, and after watching all unboxig videos filmed with a Sony. Should I better wait for Action 2? I decided to buy action 1 again. Price 234,-€ /GoPro 10 Pricr 539,-€ and only sold by GoPro. I'm really interested how much we have to pay for action2 and which bundles we should buy, because it has no screen and a small battery.

I noticed the DJI action I have sucks for up close video that has text that needs to be read, it's just not sharp enough. I'm not sure if its just the way the camera is or if the camera is defective. I tried different recording modes and speeds and didn't notice any improvements. Any thoughts?
Minimum focus distance is like 4 feet. You need close focusing filters.
@@cameraconspiracies any recommendations? I'm a RUclipsr that does mechanical repairs and sometimes I like to show the schematic or wiring diagrams and they just look blah. I can sharpen it with DaVinci but it's a lot of work to do that for what I need. Thank you for responding so quickly. If you do check out the channel not all of them are shot with this camera summer shot with my phone GoPro and the DJI. My latest video released yesterday was shot with the DJI

I dont know what happened, the last time you showed the GP10 footage I was impressed. Now they both look like trash, the GP10 looked better, but still trash.
BTW, the glimmer glass doesn't seem to have any effect to my perception. Do I need glasses or should it be renamed to placebo glass?

I didn't like it the DJI Action 2 on release. It seemed gimmicky to me (at least for my hassle free requirements). Don't care for Go Pro either. I just ordered a second Osmo Action 1 as it is now discontinued. No regrets.
So if you don't d/l the DJI from the usb then what do you recommend to use for a SD card reader?
I'll stick with the action for now. See what the Action 2 brings hopefully everyone is wrong and it is not a modular system.
I don't think modular is a bad idea, if it's done well and the price is reasonable. It's an easy way to appease the masses with a little something for everyone. But I'm very much looking forward to this next version, whatever it may be.
@@Finite-Tuning it all depends if it has a huge sensor it may be worth it but if it does not then probably not so much. I don't need 5.3k but it would be nice to have a good sensor with great features and processor to handle it.
Now, the Osmo Action is curiously out of stock and I think we can all figure out why.

Dude, the Osmo Action is decent at half the price of the Gopro 10 which has all the bells and whistles. What I'm trying to say is, even though the Osmo Action 2 will offer slightly better upgrades compared to the Gopro 10, honestly, the Osmo one or the earlier Gopro's at series 8 offer decent performance at similar level.
I've never had my Osmo action freeze.
I think u recorded in cine like mode with somo action and didn't color grade. because sky was dark blue.

sorry to say, but it seems as if you're looking for problems nobody else really has with the GoPro. - why shouldnt you have to change settings to your requirement? - who has to change SD cards while on a day out? the average video is around 3minutes according to gopro. i get >4 hours on my card
Try producing daily videos and you'll find these annoyances. Nobody is changing the SD card on the go, it's when you want the files off your computer that I literally need a tool to open the door with. It should be solved with the Ulanzi cage though.
if dji can resolve the overheat problem. i bought oa2 since the size. at least my gopro 9 works.. oa2 you dont even know when it will stop recording

We need GoPro 10 versus Canon 1DXiii with 16-35mm.
i have 2 osmo actions.. use em often to make atv videos.. so 1080p@50 they are awesome.. 2 years not 1 issue .. have a gopro 7 black.. dont use it, because its fiddly.. helmet off gloves off change settings helmet on gloves on... out of the forrest, same shit again... and ofc the price... if you have something that works well.. why change... try making fast moving footage in and out a forest.. lets see who wins then.. walking around all should be able to not mess that up.
oh and the osmo is not perfect..far from it. when you ride you cant adjust settings all the time.. however overall usage/film/practicality/durability/price its really good. For normal users like us mere mortals... 😂 4 years its out and it still gives gopro a hard time.
