Given my shooting style, I use the gopro 10 and my dji pocket 1 and 2 for 99% of my shooting. The gopro 10 is just so easy so I have no complaints. I would like to try the insta 360 products soon.

I'll be interested to see what the next generation of Instant 360 camera. I wonder if they're going to be able to just sell an updated core which will work with existing lens mods. I'd like to see Insta 360 sell housings for the extended battery... or Smallrig.
Fantastic work as always! One question I had is how long of a delay do you experience on the Insta360 One R 1" after you hit the record button before it starts recording? Mine seems to take 2-3 seconds but I wanted to confirm if this was normal for other users.

Another plus for the insta 360 is that they constantly send updates to improve camera usability and performance. With Gopro you have to buy a new camera.

Is there a cage that accommodates the One R with the BOOSTED battery? Two reasons: - it's waterproof only with the cage - the lens covers for the 360 cam are mounted on the cage and not the camera
15:11 says it all....the gopro looks way better. Was the One R in 'vivid' color profile? it looks so oversaturated and bad. i wager standard/log would give really nice results, but then again, for an action camera i like straight out of camera results.
4k at 120 + the front display would make me choose hero 10, but the bigger sensor in 360 will show much better clarity,lesser noise and much better hdr. And i would really like to see how they perform in low light condition.
Given 4 times sensor size differenece GoPro DR and detail is actually incrdeible. I wish that would finally stick a bigger sensor in their next model. I prefered GoPro image even though I dont like the company and know that their last gen cameras (9 and 10) are buggy and unreliable.

Thank you! I was so tempted by the 1-inch Insta One R, but I actually ended up getting the Hero 10. Does the One R have some flat color mode? Your sunny day footage with the Insta 360 seems to show always to have clipped highlights, while the GoPro seems to maintain the detail (even if I find shooting at EV -0.5 to -1 is a must on action cameras in most cases). The green of the grass looks artificial like it is astroturf. The GoPro has a much more natural look, although, in the cloudy weather footage you show, the grass looks more natural. Regarding reframing in post with the Insta, couldn't you achieve the same by shooting 5.3K in Wide with the Hero 10 and crop later in your editing software? Isn't that what the Insta app is doing anyway? GoPro really improved the colors with the Natural profile, also the write speed for burst photos is really improved, while I think the Insta is quite slower (i wrote to customer support about it, they were not very forthcoming). The price of the Insta 1-inch is quite expensive compared to the GoPro. The detail difference between the sensors does not appear so huge. But the color profile difference is so obvious. On reviews, there have been many complaints about the Insta not being very water-resistant (although in saltwater I always use a dive case with every camera, as saltwater is deadly to electronics)
As an insta360 content creator I think Gopro little bit loosing their way… from Gopro hero 7 the changes was extremely small, but still love the Gopro colors a lot! I’m using full X2 | One R 1inc, 360, 4K | Go2 and still using my old hero 7 black. Insta really stepped up their game here!

@@JonS The grass in the sunny day footage looks artificial like astroturf and lacks detail. So many highlights look clipped on the Insta 360. The GoPro has way more pleasing colors. It looks like you can make GoPro natural colors punchier, but you would not be able to make the Insta look much more natural. The Insta 360 color profile looks amateurish in many cases. Only when it was overcast the green grass looked pleasing to the eye.
Price wise for action and vlog even today the best option is the smartphone or the DJI Osmo Action. The DJI is dirt cheap (sub 200usd) and there are cheap good smartphones and gimbals. Maybe the image quality / frame rates are not as good as the new cameras, but are more than enough if you know how to work with it.
Osmo Action has some serious issues such as the RockSteady lag. That alone is a deal breaker for a lot of people. It is ok at that price point, but it is not comparable to Hero10 or One R.
I can't recommend the Insta 360 1 inch for underwater use, First: the LCD screen is way to small to frame fast moving marine life, second: My camera (with 40M housing) got flooded on first time use, I read somewhere this is not a isolated incident but I cant find the article anymore.
Why did Robin Wong crapped all over Insta 1" R if it's so good? His footage was atrocious. Maybe he can't use the app to stabilize the footage or something
RUclipsr MountMedia wanted to review the Insta 360, he hinted the company would have sent him a camera to review but probably they only expected a very positive review. I wonder if that is the case with many RUclipsrs. I am intrigued by it, but there are quite some issues with the camera. Price, oversaturated colors, water resistance are not as good.
@stefano giovannini I don't believe that. They have sent me some stuff before, but they have never asked me to make a positive review. Actually, no company has ever asked me to make a positive review. I don't know either of them, but I doubt that a company such as Insta360 would ask that and risk negative PR over that.

When i contacted customer service to ask how long it takes to the camera to write a raw file or a burst of images, they really did not respond clearly. For me that's important as i also take underwater images while holding my breath. The hero 10 improved a lot on this regard. Also with the insta seems cumbersome to change from video to stills when the camera is in a dive housing. I am glad a company pushes the boundaries with a 1 inch sensor. But there are still some usability issues and the colors are way too saturated. I will wait and see if there are improvements in future models. The GoPro hero 10 is also a lot cheaper with the subscription (especially if you buy the subscription just before buying the camera. You will get the bundle edition for the same price as camera only. You save 50 more dollars or euros.) Anyway most of your footage for this comparison to me looks better on the Hero 10. Grass more natural and no clipping of white buildings in the sun.
Not really, there are a lot of disadvantages associated with shooting 360, such as massive decrease of image quality, post production requirements and so on. 360 will continue to be a niche.
@@TheHybridShooter 90% of users will be completely happy with 360, there's simple post-production in the mobile app. So many of my adventure travels would benefit from a full view. Scuba diving, motorcycles, parasailing, trekking.

@@tomg224 No. "Action" won't really tell you anything about the performance of the camera. Landscape scenes are much more useful for judging the detail, color reproduction, DR and so on. Besides that, most people are using action cameras for point-and-shoot filming nowadays.

Thank you! Unfortunately, that is the case in some scenes, there isn't really any way to fix that other than using tint slider in the post-production.

It's quite seamless. The app is fast and generally bug free. Transfer is via Bluetooth as soon as you open up the app

It should work ok on most modern phones and computers

10 is very realitable, most of the issues were fixed by the new processor.
Hmmmm... Does hero 10 still have alot of the infamous bugs? Like shutting down for no reasons or battery drainage even when not used.

Reliability issues were fortunately fixed by the GP2 processor. GP1 processor was the cause of most GoPro reliability issues.

The footage in the car looks poorly exposed on the Insta360. Also their foliage color reproduction is nasty. Far too yellow.

Insta360 is relying a lot on their phone app for quick photo/video sharing. I find Robin Wong negative review is largely due to his own user errors?

@@TheHybridShooter 90% of users will be completely happy with 360, there's simple post-production in the mobile app. So many of my adventure travels would benefit from a full view. Scuba diving, motorcycles, parasailing, trekking.
No, they will not. I have a couple of 360 cameras, I like to use them occasionally, but it is definitely not a replacement of proper action cameras.

@@TheHybridShooter for stuff you are showing mobile phone is good enough. Action cameras true test is in their natural habitat in action ! Same like comparing 2 sport cars while driving them on the track not on sidewalk 5mph....
@@tomg224 No. "Action" won't really tell you anything about the performance of the camera. Landscape scenes are much more useful for judging the detail, color reproduction, DR and so on.
Besides that, most people are using action cameras for point-and-shoot filming nowadays.
