First time looking at go pros, i can say that.... to me.. number 8 looks alot better like in the sense of... not to much realism with a cinematic type of color to it which is ideal for videos, but 10 is also better quality. Id probably go with 10, but 8 is really nice i think if it had a front screen. But 8 looks good to me.
I bought a new GoPro 8 on sale for $170 and am happy with it. After your video I'm even more satisfied. I didn't notice much difference in quality. Thank you .
I actually have all of these gopro’s and aside of hypersmooth, the 5 black is the goat. As far as hypersmooth the 8 is the best. Gopro’s are action cameras and “too smooth” has been a complaint since the 9 launched. You cannot feel detached from what you are filming, and the 8 has just enough hypersmooth to make it feel like you are there, and still get the job done. If you don’t need stabilizing the 5 black is 80-100 bucks and does excellent. The 8 gives the most “in the moment” feeling shots and no major improvements in quality above it. I do use the features on the 9, 10, and 11…… but if i had none I’d buy the 5 or 8 black. Ps- the 10 has amazing battery life over my 9. I don’t know why you had that issue. Keep in mind that with most apps processing before uploading there’s nothing the 8 cant do the others can once you start processing footage. The video quality will be the same.
The 5 is the equivalent of the ipad that apple made forever even when they sold newer models. It’s solid and thats when gopro stepped up their quality.
I’d say the only one of these cameras that is now lacking is the hero 8. The stabilisation and overall jitteriness of the video is enough to rule that one out. The hero 9,10 and 11 are all very similar, with just small upgrades over the last. But certainly not enough for me to want to upgrade from my hero 9 black.
I was confused but this video has helped me hands down! I’ll go for GoPro 9 since I care a lot about battery and I only need a camera to use underwater and take some pictures here ans there while traveling ans switch it with my iPhone. I’m not a professional or looking for any professional shooting, bottom line 9 will work just fine for me!
Own the Hero 10 and it's pretty much all I need and want right now . GoPro can have my money again, when they come out with the camera that has 8K @ 60 fps capabilities ( for NO reason at all ) :)
No one talks about the power on off button on the 8 which is pathetic and once its worn out ur gopro will not be waterproof anymore .From 9 onwards the power on off button is much bigger and raised .So 10 is the perfect one imo right now .
That's a really important detail right there! If the camera is going to lose water-proofness, might as well get a "naked" version for FPV and save 100~ grams.

Such a tough decision! I'm on the fence between the 8 and the 11. The 8 is nearly half the price for me, but I really like the extra resolution for smoothing. better stabilization, and more FPS when going for slow mo.... If the price difference weren't so big the 11 would be a no brainer, obviously.

Only problem I had with your battery test... not ALL battery's are created equal. There's so many factors like, how many charge/discharge cycles has the battery experienced? Battery's age(a brand new Li-Ion battery needs at least 2 to 3 full cycles before it'll take a full charge)? Batteries temperature inside the device. Do all the battery's have the same milli-Amp hour(mAh) rating? For GoPro 9/10/11/12, they all use the same battery format so you could test a single battery across all 4 of those devices. The Hero8 would be odd man out as it's battery case is physically smaller(the 8 is smaller than the later 4 since those 4 use the same Camera housing and thus is it's mAh rating is lower).
i have a gopro hero 4 silver , hero session, and hero 8. hero 8 is my favortie right behind the session. the hero 4 i really dont care for it has bad camera quality and it doesnt have a built in good waterproof microphone like the session and hero 8. surprisingly my hero session has way better battery life out of them all.
Can the Gopro Hero 10 record speeds over 300 km/h (for motorsports)? I did see a page, a few weeks ago, which had a comparison table but I can't find it again. Some of the models could only record up to 300km/h but I can't remember if it's only the 11 or not.

I would like to use only in 4 K.. I read so many positive and negative comments so I am uncertain about decision. It seems the video quality of the gopro 10 is worse than gopro 8.... Is it possible?
Do you have any issue with Hero10 where it freezes when you're charging? I have a Hero10 that freezes every time I leave it charged for few hours and had to be reset by press and hold MODE. I did an RMA with GoPro but the replacement does the exact same thing too. I think this may be a known issue but not sure if everyone using Hero10 is seeing the same thing
One thing not addressed is the color grading. I have a Go-Pro Hero 8 and am not very impressed with Go-Pro color on this model. Everything looks like it's been browned with too much saturation. After turning off the go-pro color it looked much better, crisp but still not very natural looking video. In contrast my old $150 Sony WX80 camera with AVCHD video has very good color rendition by comparison and little to no fragmenting around moving subjects. The Go-Pro 8 I noticed has quite a bit of fragmenting around moving subjects. Though definitely much more stable and higher resolution video than the Sony. Not everything is about high resolution IMO. Honestly 1080 is enough for most things. The other thing I don't like about the go-pro is the huge amounts of memory the videos take up. Talk about inefficient. Would be nice to have a setting on the Gopro that let's you save much smaller video sizes. Finally it would be nice if the GO-Pro came with a screw on manual lens. It would be really nice to be able to zoom up on subjects, people's smiles without having to put the camera right up by their faces which usually ruins their expressions because no-one wants a camera up in their face. I mean how hard would it be to provide a little manual zoom capability. Make the camera more versatile.

I am filming a lot of car racing videos where GoPro camera steady mounted on the car is and filming only one direction. The problem is that i have those movements in the video every time driver turns left or right even as i said camera is on the cars roof recording only one direction. For example i had GoPro 8 Black and never had this issue. Hope you can help. Thank you A

Got 11 for horizon lock. Finally not restricted to 2.7k in MaxMode. Also 8:7 is interesting as well as 10min color makes it pop more.

You record in 4k then you can render it on computer in 1080, but it will be better quality if recorded in 1080

Bought a cheaper 2ndhand hero 8, Guess I just stick to it until it last.

A very slow progress in video quality compared to smartphones - not enough competition.
DJI Osmo and Insta cameras give a good competition if not tough

Gopros are known to overheat and freeze up.
