GoPro moving to the razor/blade or printer/ink business model. Same HW for the camera body. Some celebrating the return of GPS, but it was just a de-population for the 12. They should lower the price to $299 to support their new business model.
I’ve had every GoPro since gp3. The biggest difference for me from last years gp12 is that it doesn’t overheat for my use. I mainly use it for fishing videos. 4k 30fps 10bit with hindsight turned on, it records me standing there in sunlight until battery runs out, about 1.5 hours. Same for 4k 60fps. This is what happens when you push technology to the limit. Not much difference in image quality between GoPro 11, 12 & 13. To push the sales for the 13, then new upgraded battery with new pins so you can’t use it on older versions. More accessories in the 13, means more sales. This is why I skip two versions before upgrading. I upgraded from 10 to 13 and I can see the difference.
Gopro made mod upgrades that could be integrated with older models but decided not to and they even changed the battery design to ensure aftermarket batteries and attachement won't fit. They're just doing an Apple move at this point.
Had no idea gps was removed in the 12, dodged a bullet there I will go for the 11 which still has a max lens mod and same exact picture quality as the 13.
@ not yet but over 11 I prefer 12 because of better battery and its latest. Ig 13 is a good buy altogether if we are looking for mods lens etc etc atleast anytime in future Which can’t be done with 11/12
We are looking to upgrade from a Hero 7, We are still going to use the 7, but I'm wondering if there is a better (DGI?) camera we should be looking at. We film mostly RUclips content, which is non-action. Thanks for the video!
I have a Hero 3+ Black LOL. I don't really use it anymore. Haven't for years. My phones have been better for many years. I was thinking of getting another GoPro though. Do I get a 11, 12, or 13? Anyone have any thoughts? And not just, 'get the 13 cus it is the newest and most expensive'.
So the battery for the 12 is compatible with the 11, 10 & 9. Does this mean go pro will stop suppling those batteries since the 13 battery is a different battery? and if they stop suppling the battery will they stop the firmware updates and the support of the 12? A first time Go Pro buyer here. Trying to decide between the two. I don't want to buy something that will be obsolete next year. Also, there is a 50 piece kit for both cameras available on a VERY popular on-line product supplier, is that 50 piece kit worth the money?
I so wanted to update my 10 last year and again this year but this is still a rather boring update. Unfortunately the workflow of Reelsteady vs Gyroflow is so much better so I don't think I'll switch to DJI Osmo Action... Also the 5.3k is holding me back at GoPro. Very nice comparison - thanks.

Thanks for the info. I've been looking at replacing my hero 8 black with something more modern. I use my iphone 15 pro max for just about everthing, but when I go diving, I'm not bringing that with me. The gopro meets my needs for underwater with the housing enclosure. I REALLY wish that GoPro would put some basic folder/file function mounting into linux/mac. I'm super happy daily driving linux mint and I don't want to have to remove the SD card every time I want to offload the content. I've heard a lot of people complain about the newer models overheating, does the new 13 seem to be more stable? Will it fit stuffed into my exsisting hero 8 enclosure? :D
Quick question. Are GoPros dual voltage? Can you charge them anywhere in the world like traveling from America to Australia etc. Because voltage differs by region.
The price diff is like 50€ , isn't that a bit weird? I can't decide between 12 and 13. Wanna go for 13 cause the price is almost the same, but I feel I'm not getting anything better than 12.

From what I've lost years ago I realize of all the hours and thousands of photos I've taken, not much has been viewed and the past several years have been out from behind the camera and now realizeI need to just enjoy the experience and not worry too much about trying to capture it on film.
Although with the new project I've learned so I've diversified my memory cards and camera brands so if one is bad I won't loose everything.
Fantastic review
Insta360 ace pro vs gopro 13
Best 🤔?
thanks Ben great content, have you think about making a video editing course or video??
I’d love to! I’m afraid no one would buy 😆
Either one in way more than 90% of people will ever need. I have the 7 and the 11.
Thanks Ben! I'm from Germany and I was waiting for your video! Thank you for that. I'll stick with my GoPro 11. I find the hero quite interesting for motovlogging, do you know if gopro mic adapter supported? Thanks for your perfect videos! 😊
This is really good, proves I can still hav my 11
My biggest question is. Did go pro fix the over heating problem????
It has a huge heat sink on the front so I'd hope so
Gopro made mod upgrades that could be integrated with older models but decided not to and they even changed the battery design to ensure aftermarket batteries and attachement won't fit. They're just doing an Apple move at this point.
Had no idea gps was removed in the 12, dodged a bullet there I will go for the 11 which still has a max lens mod and same exact picture quality as the 13.
For a first time buyer is 13 a better buy?
Did you end up buying the 13? I ask myself the same question, I'm between it and the 11, I'd like to know if it's really worth the extra investment.
@ not yet but over 11 I prefer 12 because of better battery and its latest.
Ig 13 is a good buy altogether if we are looking for mods lens etc etc atleast anytime in future
Which can’t be done with 11/12
I like the gopro camera no camera is better than what your budget allows.
Hi!
capturing video in 5k what size should the card be? 512gb enough?
such a great testing !its really helpful ~~i guess i would stick with my pro11 ha
In my opinion, there are actually many similarities in image quality between GP 13 and GP 11... try to pay attention.
If they just had a slightly bigger sensor it would probably make a world of difference
I've been watching your videos since FOREVER... Hahahaha . Great Job, as usual.
thank you!
Love the ledgendary side by side comparisons!
I’m never too old for one… I think 🤔
11 and 13 nearly identical.. 12 had an off year. (different, more neutral color grade).
Ben we love your videos
I so wanted to update my 10 last year and again this year but this is still a rather boring update.
Unfortunately the workflow of Reelsteady vs Gyroflow is so much better so I don't think I'll switch to DJI Osmo Action... Also the 5.3k is holding me back at GoPro.
Very nice comparison - thanks.
I have a GoPro 10... would it be worth upgrading?
My only question would be whether you can finally use log format with the max lens mod
So the main difference is battery and macro that is useless 😂. Will wait for dji action 5 pro
Does the 13 folding fingers fit the 12 and under? I’m not upgrading to 13, however I like the magnetic fingers as well the contacto battery door. I’m looking forward the hear from you. Thank you!
I think they are all so close that ur splitting hairs with quality, some people notice like lil stuff but I look at vids & dont get crazy analyzing them ,dont think u can go wrong with either GO Pro, Insta360 Pro, Dji Action, I have the Gp11,Action 3 I also have cheaper Brave 7 & a Wolfang & they all look good to me
I was hoping the dji mic would sound better.
As we are facing heating problem in gopro in next vedio aldo include temprature test at the end of all test
Excellent review brother, 10/10. Could you please tell me one thing, Is it work with DJI ME or other Bluetooth mic?
If you want a diving action cam, just wait a few more days… that’s all I can say ;)
Quick question. Are GoPros dual voltage? Can you charge them anywhere in the world like traveling from America to Australia etc. Because voltage differs by region.
Is worth to switch from a go pro 3 to 13?🤔
I love your tiger shirt.
stick to the 11, no worth it to upgrade, btw the macro lens on 13 can be applied to hero 11? im interesting with the macro lens. plese confirm me
Great video
macro lens has a rotating ring to adjust focus. need to rotate it to zoom closer
Gopro 10 vs gopro 13 pls
Still rockin the hero 5 lo
The 11 looks the best to me.
looking like we keeping the 11
The price diff is like 50€ , isn't that a bit weird? I can't decide between 12 and 13. Wanna go for 13 cause the price is almost the same, but I feel I'm not getting anything better than 12.
How does the new GoPro 13 ( and lense) do with night Star Shoots? And Star Trails??
Man i found an open box hero 11 black for 230, maybe this is the play for replacing my hero 4 silver!
I honestly think just buy the GoPro 11 and buy 4 batteries lol Sorted
Please make a comparison of go pro 13 and insta Go 3s.
