Gopro sucks i bought a hero 9 during the lockdown and while i loved it for the 1st year the thing started to slowly breakdown. my official gopro tripod fell apart , the gopro itself sometimes didn't pick up audio while the media mod was attached , trash in low light , horrible battery life , app trash and my media mod finally broke early last year which led me to finally just purchasing the sony zvf1. Best thing about gopro was how easy the device is to learn , i still use it for time laps till this day because the zvf1 has a learning curve.
You mentioned shooting in 1:1 or 4:3, for me this is interesting! Because I too also use multiple platforms from RUclips 16:9 and then for shorts/reels 9:16 and even video posts 5:7. Is there a preferred aspect ratio between 1:1 or 4:3 for repurposing content for all these media types? Cheers
Ive been having issues with microphones on my phone and cheaper cameras and was looking at go pro13 but after seeing this i think i like to go with the dji5 the fact they have their own microphones i like that

Great review as usual. My question will be about the settings. What audio settings did you have when comparing? The low light of ace pro 2 wins and I am surprisingly to see how insta360 improved their day light image quality...Gopro is just too warm and kinda over exposed on the face.
very very good comparison but could you please always include the testing on how long the ramp up times between those cameras are? I mean from pressing the record button up to the point where it is actually recording. Thank you!
Great video...if I'm trying to film ice hockey inside and not the best lighting conditions I would assume I would go with the Insta 360 or DJI Action 5 based on the larger sensor/better in low light conditions. I'm also considering multiple to set-up at the rink, however the DJI does not offer time code to easily match up the footage. Does the Insta 360 offer that feature and if you had to choose between one of these options for filming ice hockey indoor which would you recommend?
Im actually confused of choosing a simple but cinematic with wide angle cam My contenders are: Insta360 x4 Ace pro 2 Dji action 5 pro Dji pocket 3 My usage are 1. Cinematic real estate indoor videos 2. Travel 3. eveyday use for architectures project What i need: - smooth stabilization, indoor some low light situation - great hdr sensor cuz low light room with bright window usually the case - super wide angle for indoor use What i think it can work for me - so EIS usually works bad in low light situation but i found using gyroflow with my avata 2 can work great cuz it uses motion data Thats why im thinking of dji action 5 or ace pro 2; they both can use gyroflow - im actually also interested in X4 360 camera cuz it has WIDE angle lens= better EIS But it dosent able to use gyroflow and bad lowlight sensor and not too great for making cinematic - it got me thinking! What if i use gyroflow with dji action 5 pro / ace pro 2 so i can get better stabilization, no jerky EIS in low light, wnd also wider angle Please help me on this 😁
04:43... took at the hair. DJI wins on detail on close spectrum. Ace pro is a bit pixelized and looks like recorded by a phone... GoPro no good as it blew it on the close up, but far/dept it gave more/better details which can be edited better than the other two... For hight light gopro won except for the sky which was a bit over exposed...
Great review as I’m looking to purchase a new camera as my 8Black is getting tired, we will be using it in a Boat fishing application and concerned about the waterproof of each of the unit as I don’t recall it being covered, we will definitely be doing some night fishing in low light as well as Dawn, Dusk and bright sunny days!. hi great post .what camera would you recomend for family vacation, snorkeling ,day to day stuff, not much night, but need best results out of camera not editing colour, any thoughts,,i have a gopro 8 and think its time to upgrade, hope to hear back
So I'm just starting the video but I wish you mentioned what frame rates you used the beginning of the video, what formats, profiles, settings, etc (bit rate, FOV, neutral, log, etc). Even if people aren't big on image quality and use default stuff, it'd still be helpful to know and just transparency in general to know you did the minimum for fairness. But thanks, nonetheless.
I think it’s worth waiting for gopro 14 with the new processor it will be on par with acepro 2 low light performance 1:1 shooting is a great selling point for gopro and it can acquire even larger fov with new processor. I still believe GoPro and dji have more natural tone Not sure GoPro will introduce the new chip next year or they will wait for gopro 15
I wouldn’t expect anything special from GoPro. They’ve disappointed time and time again. What was their upgrade this year? Sell you a bunch of extra accessories? Whoopty doo. I’m not impressed!
Hmmm, in comparisons when the 1 came out it exposed best in direct sun. In some of those shots the 2 looks a lot more blown out than the action 5. I've had shots with the 1 in forest when shadows are perfectly exposed but the sky behind is nice and blue, not over exposed at all. So I wonder if I'd still get that with the 2.
In my country, the action 5 pro sells for 425 usd and its predecessor sells for 355 usd (excluding extra battery pack and SD card). GoPro 12 sells for 420 usd (the dual battery pack version) and GoPro 13 with no extra battery sells for same 420 usd. Osmo action 4 adventure pack sells for 450 usd. Which camera and which package should I go with if I want to shoot videos longer than 120 minutes without heating and battery drain issue.
@@tusharnair6766 same in my country, the GP13 accessory bundle (the dual battery pack) + GP housing sells for 430usd aprox. Same for OA5 would go over 520usd. Just got my GP. Let it shoot at 4k120fps freely and went for 3:15 hours w/o overheating
Just finished watching the video and I think I'll have to give to the Dji action 5 for this one. I have a gopro hero 10 black and its fine for me due to the fact I bought early release and have had a few problems with it. I have not used it much early in my career so i have been running some test and recently gave it new update. The footage seems to shakey on my hero 10 but am not sure if its due to the fact I bought it early and have not gave them enough time to work out the kinks but it looks like dji has always been consistent with there hardware. I think for my next purchase it will be DJI but i will try the gopro later down the line since its always been part of my arsenal.
2 questions. What’s the battery life like on the insta360. And which one would deal best with freezing temperatures? I’m going up to the arctic in April for a dog sledding expedition so looking for something that can deal with really low temperatures ☺️
Thoughts on which one would have an advantage for snowboarding if I also use a insta360 for my 360 shots? It would most be clipped to a chest harness or helmet mount. Gopro batteries never last.
i think the reason the insta looks pixaly is because of compression from upload/edit. but its either between the dji or the insta, i think the insta is the best but dji's wireless mics are just too good
I'd like to see a slightly larger sensor in an action cam, similar to the Osmo Pocket 3's. That would boost low light performance, where these action cams usually fall short. Regarding the DJI, I don't like having to side load their app. Their app needs to be made available through the Play Store.
just the mount for tripod/selfie-stick ... why not the standed 1/4 screw? biggest thing for me, low light handling. i thought DJI image/color handling had a slight edge over Insta. but overall, Insta. those were little trade-offs. but the app made the huge difference that DJI and even GoPro gotta catch up.
I just bought a gopro hero 13 black 25 days ago and I was disappointed with the footage, and I sold the gopro 13 again for a very cheap price. I immediately moved to DJI osmo 5 pro.❤
Good decision , gopro is only good when its really bright outside once there's a bit of shade or if you film in doors the lighting is noticeably darker. I had a hero 9 because i loved the idea of the gorpo ecosystem but eventually stuff started to fall apart after about a year.
@RogueHero You're right friend, the GoPro Hero 13 is good in bright light, but if the light is dim or there's not enough light it will become darker and the noise will be spotty. Are you still using a GoPro or DJI 5?
4:19 GoPro leaves the room! 🤣 Are you going to do a more in-depth review for Action 5 pro and Ace pro 2? We need to see more, especially for stabilization! It's very different as you move and talk in real scenarios. My Action 4 is doing a great job. And now with the 5, in your video, the footage looks smoother and has less artifacts than others
Thanks man. Love your videos. Everything is demonstrated clear. Back in the day, i bought my Hero 7 black based on a video you made and been a subscriber ever since. I think you left out the weight issue which can mean a lot, especially when mounted on a helmet.
Looks like there’s some problem’s with the ace pro 2. Everything related to the camera is out of stock everywhere in the eu, across all major camera stores. The plot thickens!
Disappointed in the lack of innovation from gopro continuing to use a tiny sensor and being terrible in low light. Although it seems to have less of the harsh over-sharpening in some scenarios.
We have a sony a6700 with a sigma 10-18 lens we do really love the quality of this camera and lens for low light (we shoot a lot of music videos in low light) but it’s a bit bulky and we don’t even use all the features. Was wondering is an osmo 5 could be a good replacement??
Does DJI and Insta have something similar to GoPro's magnetic charging port for long timelapse outside (where you can connect to a battery pack in all weather?)
Kind of a random question, but I have an 8 year old, that has been asking for a "gopro" now for a long while. We are wanting to get her one but I'm unsure which direction to go! She likes all sorts of things, roller coasters, making fun videos, underwater, etc. I thought first of the Gopro Hero 4k but that doesn't have image stabilization, then I saw this video and saw the other two brands. Any pointers as to what would be the best way to go. Some of these top level ones seem like they'd be over kill
I’m not an expert on anything of this, but I’m buying the dji rn for the same activities that she wants it for. Also if you look at it as an investment instead of them being too expensive right now that might help. I’m sure she will use this for a long time so the heavy price tag would be worth it.
Im about to try the insta 360 ace pro 2 using it for vlogging my long rides and as a dash cam but i want you to recommend me a mice that i can use that removes the wind sounds 😅
I had some bad video quality issues with the Osmo Action 3, especially when using it to video outdoor concerts. The 4K/30 just seemed to lack sharpness and detail when cropping or zooming in. Any thoughts on how the 5 performs in regard to these areas or would one of the others work better? I primarily video hikes and outdoor events. Thanks!

Again great vid sir and cheers from 2 Canadians living in Mexico. ✌🏽
Cheers
I think whichever ratio gets you the widest FOV (both horizontally and vertically), making the crop-in look natural and least amount of FOV lost.
@@AuthenTech would that mean the Dji wins in that category also?
Crazy how detailed the RayBan Meta glasses clips are.😯
Needed this video. Thank you
Thanks brother for the work in helping us make decisions.
I actually prefer the image quality on the DJI in low light over the Insta360
Ive been having issues with microphones on my phone and cheaper cameras and was looking at go pro13 but after seeing this i think i like to go with the dji5 the fact they have their own microphones i like that
can you also test the battery life in extreme hot and cold conditions? I like GoPro with the built-in GPS and wide range but not sure if the battery is better than Insta Ace Pro.
Curious why you didn't mention the charging speed of the DJI
Thanks Ben. I have always a confusion Which one is better in low light? But after seeing your vedio my all doubts are clear thanks for such a amazing clarification about the gopro.
New user for osmo action 5 pro. This is helpful in exploring what I can do with it as I’m also trying to go back into vlogging after being in hiatus of 1 yr
How about heating while using atleast 1 hour hows the heat
Great review as usual. My question will be about the settings. What audio settings did you have when comparing? The low light of ace pro 2 wins and I am surprisingly to see how insta360 improved their day light image quality...Gopro is just too warm and kinda over exposed on the face.
Does the Ace Pro 2 have live streaming via the Insta app or some way?
very very good comparison but could you please always include the testing on how long the ramp up times between those cameras are? I mean from pressing the record button up to the point where it is actually recording. Thank you!
Great suggestion
Great video...if I'm trying to film ice hockey inside and not the best lighting conditions I would assume I would go with the Insta 360 or DJI Action 5 based on the larger sensor/better in low light conditions. I'm also considering multiple to set-up at the rink, however the DJI does not offer time code to easily match up the footage. Does the Insta 360 offer that feature and if you had to choose between one of these options for filming ice hockey indoor which would you recommend?
Im actually confused of choosing a simple but cinematic with wide angle cam
My contenders are:
Insta360 x4
Ace pro 2
Dji action 5 pro
Dji pocket 3
My usage are
1. Cinematic real estate indoor videos
2. Travel
3. eveyday use for architectures project
What i need:
- smooth stabilization, indoor some low light situation
- great hdr sensor cuz low light room with bright window usually the case
- super wide angle for indoor use
What i think it can work for me
- so EIS usually works bad in low light situation but i found using gyroflow with my avata 2 can work great cuz it uses motion data
Thats why im thinking of dji action 5 or ace pro 2; they both can use gyroflow
- im actually also interested in X4 360 camera cuz it has WIDE angle lens= better EIS
But it dosent able to use gyroflow and bad lowlight sensor and not too great for making cinematic
- it got me thinking! What if i use gyroflow with dji action 5 pro / ace pro 2 so i can get better stabilization, no jerky EIS in low light, wnd also wider angle
Please help me on this 😁
04:43... took at the hair.
Please do battery test and heating test in sunlight
As usual top 🔝
Thanks 🙏
Great review as I’m looking to purchase a new camera as my 8Black is getting tired, we will be using it in a Boat fishing application and concerned about the waterproof of each of the unit as I don’t recall it being covered, we will definitely be doing some night fishing in low light as well as Dawn, Dusk and bright sunny days!. Leaning towards the 360 but I need it to be waterproof.
Thanks~
Great comparison video. I think the biggest question is then if the Insta is 50USD better than the DJI?
Quality content, thank you❤
hi great post .what camera would you recomend for family vacation, snorkeling ,day to day stuff, not much night, but need best results out of camera not editing colour, any thoughts,,i have a gopro 8 and think its time to upgrade, hope to hear back
Thank you for the balanced review.
I think it’s worth waiting for gopro 14 with the new processor it will be on par with acepro 2 low light performance
1:1 shooting is a great selling point for gopro and it can acquire even larger fov with new processor.
I still believe GoPro and dji have more natural tone
Not sure GoPro will introduce the new chip next year or they will wait for gopro 15
I wouldn’t expect anything special from GoPro. They’ve disappointed time and time again. What was their upgrade this year? Sell you a bunch of extra accessories? Whoopty doo. I’m not impressed!
It's not about the processor, it's about the fact that GP keep recycling the same 1/2.0 sensor, while DJI and Insta use 1/1.3.
How do they compare if dropped? Are they all body mountable for hands free?
I have the DJI osmo pocket 3 and the osmo action 5 it works perfect together and the mic is superb
Great review, helpfull
It would be great if dji mimo would de more android friendly
Thank you! You just help me made my decision, DJI it is! 😁
Was the low light shots on DJI using super night mode?
Super night mode is also crazy feature you should've mentioned.
Great video and everything is explained very well.
In Australia the prices are a different story with gopro at 500, dji 560 min, and insta360 ace pro 2 at 690
2 questions.
Wow great job!
Thanks man!
Nice video as always! Cheers!
Looks like the only feature significantly outweigh others is weight. I will go with DA5 pro, thanks~
i think the reason the insta looks pixaly is because of compression from upload/edit. but its either between the dji or the insta, i think the insta is the best but dji's wireless mics are just too good
You are authentic in tech. So yes, you’re AuthenTech. Nice video! Thank you
I'd like to see a slightly larger sensor in an action cam, similar to the Osmo Pocket 3's. That would boost low light performance, where these action cams usually fall short. Regarding the DJI, I don't like having to side load their app. Their app needs to be made available through the Play Store.
@@johnbranham9756 DJI Mimo app is in the iOS Play Store.
Which audio was better between the DJI and Insta360?
Its so hard to choose but that low light might be the deal breaker on my first action cam.
just the mount for tripod/selfie-stick ... why not the standed 1/4 screw?
biggest thing for me, low light handling. i thought DJI image/color handling had a slight edge over Insta. but overall, Insta. those were little trade-offs. but the app made the huge difference that DJI and even GoPro gotta catch up.
@ i use the sony zvf1 , just got it back in November and loving it so far but it has a learning curve.
For the résolu it's gonna be a bigest difference for seeing the difference between 4 k and 8k if the vid is at maximum 2k
Lost my ace pro in the water when it came off the mount earlier. Trying to find a replacement and now I’m not sure.
Thanks man. Love your videos. Everything is demonstrated clear. Back in the day, i bought my Hero 7 black based on a video you made and been a subscriber ever since. I think you left out the weight issue which can mean a lot, especially when mounted on a helmet.
Thanks for sticking around for so long. Weight is a good point, I'm not sure the exact grams per camera
Hey have you considered the chest/ harness mount pov ir The neck Mount?
@@awesomein360tiagowolf4
Thanks man. I have the chest mount. I prefer the chin mount. I think it gives better point of view
Looks like there’s some problem’s with the ace pro 2. Everything related to the camera is out of stock everywhere in the eu, across all major camera stores. The plot thickens!
warra low light quality by insta ace pro 2
Nope
For wakeboarding what would your pick be?
On stabilization, why did you not have on horizon stabilizing on the DJI? It is obviously turned off on your video.
It seems better to choose DJI
Im about to try the insta 360 ace pro 2 using it for vlogging my long rides and as a dash cam but i want you to recommend me a mice that i can use that removes the wind sounds 😅
I had some bad video quality issues with the Osmo Action 3, especially when using it to video outdoor concerts. The 4K/30 just seemed to lack sharpness and detail when cropping or zooming in. Any thoughts on how the 5 performs in regard to these areas or would one of the others work better? I primarily video hikes and outdoor events. Thanks!
Seems it would be hard to compare stabilization when 1 camera is much further off the center of the handheld post. Moving much more
