Why? This is probably the worst action cam review of all time, check the " Slow camera response" OMG it takes 3secs before it starts.... how about let it on sleep mode?! I wonder if Gopro can start recording in 1sec or less.....
@@jcap8391 its a trash camera. i recommended it to my buddy and he had similar problems. ontop of that, the lens tends to get foggy in warm weathers. its not a straight up action camera. also the 1 inch is a gimmick, its a slow f stop which makes it still bad in low light and the full sensor is not being utilized.
@@truthseeker6804 I have the Rs don't know what ur talking about. Haven't had any of those problems. And why would you recommend it if it's trash lol wtf makes no sense.
I respect your opinions and totally agree that in your workflow, it might not work for you. I bought mine with my own money and I love my 1-inch edition because it solved a very specific problem I had. Which was the need to have great quality in low light from an action-camera form factor. I don’t know any other product that can do that for me. At 2000 ISO, the noise is very low, sharpness is very good, and colors look amazing. Not to mention, there’s no hideous giant highlighted lens flares that GoPros are notorious for. I film in low light very often from nightclubs to outdoor lightsaber videos. Compared to all options, this camera has been the best solution for those specific work environments. I look forward to seeing improvements. To everyone reading this, take every opinion with a grain of salt, including mine. What can be a terrible camera for one person can be a perfect camera for another.
6:37 there is an option in the menu that might solve your issue. You can long hold the record button when the camera is off and it will turn on and start recording immediately. When you’re done press record again and it will save the file and turn off.
with all respect, being owner of insta360 one R for about 6 7 month i never faced any issue of what you claiming, the camera has fast boot in the new update and you dont have close it everytime u use it , you can just leave it in sleep mode , and i agree with you regaring the activation process it took me some time as well , but in the other hand video quality was good enough for action camera
IDK everything he said was what I experienced as well. Going from the GoPro to the Insta360 I was like, wtf!! But honestly after living with it I now love it and won't go back to the gopro. You have to follow the insta360 processing platform to not hate it. My suggestion is you need a high processing phone or tablet to get this camera and don't expect to use it like a gopro. My Samsung A20 and A32 could not edit the videos. To download them into my phone, one clip took all day and in the program after it downloaded kept freezing. Not downloading into my phone was unusable. I had an older Dell laptop and same thing, I could not edit any of the videos or download because it took so long and kept freezing. I ended up purchasing an Apple iPad Pro for other purposes and everything changed after I used it to process the insta360 files. I went from hating it to loving it. I got used to the slow booting and the slow processing after you stop a video. I start the download process into my iPad and walk away for a few hours and then start editing. I find it take a while to love this camera if you're not open to change
im using it now and starting from being unable to unlock the camera is true....i emailed them and they said i should get a friends phone to activate it.....its a great concept but needs lots of work
for the part of noise reduction i think you are right , after facing some issues , the best solution is to leave camera to auto mode , surprisingly it works much better in that mode
omg. I have been considering buying this camera for a while but after this review and reading a couple of the comments .... no way Jose! Appreciate the candid review and several comments that endorse the findings.
I had another model and returned it due to the same issues I had with the software. It just took forever to do anything. The technology is just immature. GoPro is.no better. They still have bugs in the hardware from version 8. The current one overheats and will just turn off at random times. I am still using an old Sony action cam. At least it works.
For me, connection is really easy to do, installation of all the app and software was fast, and stabilization is now already automatic, should be maybe in your parameters by default. I like especially for 360° to use first the software then move on a more standard software.
I have the Insta360 One X2 and I dislike the app connection routine which is very hit and miss (though it has got better though updates since I bought it). As it's a 360 camera, I expect to have to use an app yo stitch the footage from two cameras, apply stabilisation etc. I would be livid if I had to do that with a single sensor action cam. I use my insta mostly for B-roll for my volgs, but it's far from my favourite camera and I find the software on the PC unnecessarily hard to use and it screws my workflow.
I have never had any of your issues with my insta360 one r. I own three of those cameras with a couple of all available lenses and even several backbone modules to use on mft or c-mount lenses. To me this is the most reliable camera right after my sony action cams. After the last updates i even managed to continously record 4k30 for hours. This can not be done with my dji osmo action, dji action 2, gopro 10, gopro 9, sony fdr3000x or sony az1... Also switching between several cams with a single android phone works perfectly fine. I hope you were able to solve your problems.
latest firmware definitely addressed stability issues, faster start/stop, etc. Obviously, the author was using it with older firmware, plus he said that he didn't have prior experience with other action cameras, which make his opinion somewhat less objective.
Imagine you got a phone you can not install this Insta app - it got quite high specs requirements (like I do), then the activation part is really flustering ...
Why you don't use stabilizer? If you use stabilizer, Feiyu Tech G6 for example, you csn turn off flowstate stabilization and image looks more clean, without noise.
When I started looking for a vlogging camera, I did look at the 360 One R but I discounted it as it was too new and there was a lack of 'real life' reviews/tests on RUclips so I opted for the Osmo Pocket instead. It seems that I did well to avoid it. Good luck in getting your problems resolved.
Lots of adrenaline, mate :-) Let me tell you I have several of these cameras, and I even had some more which i sent back or sold, and they ALL had one or more issues: The VIRB360 (otherwise nice) would overheat and shut down after 10 minutes, the Nikon Keysession had bad image quality, the GoPros cannot be connected to external BT-microphones, and so on. Of the 10 or more cameras I ordered I like the INSTA360 One R the best. Is it perfect? No, it is not. But it has great image quality, it is very flexible, I can connect a Bluetooth microphone and change the lens. I like it.
Hi, When you said double up after the 1/50 shutter. Did you mean that you will do 25p and choose any shutter speed above 1/50 like 1/250 or 1/500 or do you stay on 1/50? or was the double up putting on the ND filter? Sorry i'm not used the technical details
Yes, I feel your pain. I have the insta360 one R too and yes it is more for casual use when I am out with the kids in the swimming pool and want to take a video or two. Everything needs to be planned ahead since it is not as responsive as we would like it to be. I find they the Diji osmo action more responsive to use. I think more work, it is probably not the best camera for this type of work.
i am so sorry to hear that Robin! I am thinking of buying 360 action camera to record family outing, indoor and welcoming my new baby !!! Almost bought this one.
My insta 360 one r door or the rubber part area dismantled and insta360 charge me 200 dollars for this including shipping, marketing is good but the camera quality output is bad,
I'm sorry to hear you've had a bad experience. I can only imagine how frustrating it was. I think you got a dud, brother. I didn't encounter any of these issues. In my opinion, the ability to alter your video in every form or fashion after the fact is one of this platforms greatest strengths. The GoPro line requires you to set your settings before recording, and then you are locked into those settings. With the Insta360 One R, you can apply different color grading, stabilization, target focus, etc - all after the action of recording. I know most pphotogs really like the 1 inch sensor, but I tend to use the 360 mod. It records everythign around it. You don't have to worry about framing, getting the perfect shot, setting your color profile, etc. You can do ALL of it in post processing. No, it's not as simple as a GoPro... but it is infinitely more powerful.
@RecoilFreak I fully agree with you. I can under Robin's frustrating experience. That's probabaly because of the wrong expection of this camera. Actually, insta360 is very different from GoPro, it records everything around you, if you stick to the old mindset, you will think it is a trouble to process it before you can get real video files, but it enables you to reframe, move the angle, or even zoom in/zoom out in the post processing which is fantastic!
you didnt encounter registering? you didnt encounter having to process the videos throuh their application?. with gopro you can have everything done in camera, or you can record in flat and edit later. so the features gopro advertises actually works standalone, not with a catch. being able to reframe in post can easily be done to anyone video, its called editing. record 4:3 in gopro and edit it. thats basically what this is doing. nothing magical here. they should provide advertised features in camera.
@@truthseeker6804 I have to say that you probably don't understand the conception that a 360 brings to you yet. It's not simply 'reframe', you can let it go the opposite direction as you were shotting. That's the power of 360. But if you don't like this feature, 360 also provides a 'normal' video function can record mp4 as other action camera do. No need to be upset.
@@bowang179 yes in 360 you can frame the opposite direction, this insta360 one R 1 inch is only recording 1 direction not 360. so this 1 inch is not a 360 camera, therefore they shouldve provided an mp4 file with all the stabilization and features advertised. 1 inch users dont need the app. i hope you get it now. yes you can record mp4 but you dont get 5k and you dont get good stabilization with horizon level as advertised. you get like a gopro 5 level of stabilization, if you want mp4 file.
Other action cams also have similar issues in different magnitude. I have learned to work within the limitations of a particular model of action cam. E.g. almost all action cams are horrible at low light when stabalisation is on. So switch it off and stabalise in post. The older ones are horrible at higher ISO so set max ISO and don't use auto. Some action cam don't do stabalisation at higher resolution. So I take note of that. Things like that.
I did not have those firmware update issues, for what its worth. and initial requirement to connect to a phone has been well worth it as the camera has more capabilities and works better now than the day I purchased it. few products do that :)
Had Gopro 10 and bought this one with 1 inch and the 360 mode and never had a problem. It actually starts faster than the gopro. But lime in always you will have people that like and don t like.
Personally I think Insta360 provided tons of fun through its AI editing and app features, through that lots of effects become feasible and the video is greatly optimized. I can see why they are doing the app activation thing so that they are encouraging amateurs to also maximize their use of this camera. I agree that the connecting and firmware updates could be annoying for some people (the process could be affected by various factors), but once you pass that I think the app is worth what it's offering.
worth it or not, some people just want to record and upload a simple mp4 video. not go through apps. go to the playstore and see many people have incompatibility issues with their phones. an advertised product should have all it functionality as advertised in the camera. not in an external software. thats deceptive.
@@truthseeker6804 What specific advertisement that you found is "deceptive", I definitely give you the benefit of the doubt, but the external app clearly expedites the editing workflow and brings more fun for the AMATEUR users. On the other hand, you can export the video pretty quickly by connecting the camera to the laptop (the classic way) Many find the app convenient for social posts actually. So if you are not up for this feature, it's pretty clear that this camera is not for you. haha. We can all enjoy different stuff.
@@britneyforever fun? more like pain. and an amateur should have it more easier to use, give them mp4, done. they already have editing to do. this makes the editing process twice in two apps, two exports. deceptive because the camera is advertised as 5k, yet the 5k is only if youre going to use their app, otherwise in basic mode you only get 4k with crappy stabilization, not the stabilization they advertised. also pray your phone is compatible with their app. i blame mostly paid reviewers who gloss over the extra process and registration to get a simple video. if they emphasized it more, he wouldnt have bought this garbage. whilst all other action cameras you record done, you have the video you can edit as you want later or just post as is.
@@britneyforever shouldnt NEED an app to record. If your on the ski hill, should be able to just hit a button and go. Its an ACTION camera. If I have to take out my 1k+ cellphone in -25c in 3 feet of powder then not interested.
Not with a GoPro, WiFi connect onto your Ipad/phone or use SD card, no processing, save in files, start editing. All the stabilising is done in camera. As to the 180 degree rule, you can’t use this format with action cameras, as they need a higher framerate (around 200 minimum) for the stabilising to work in camera. They are NOT anywhere near as good as a Proper camera. You need to accept this.
Hi Robin, we met before in JB for Olympus Macro event. Understand your frustration . I am using DJI pocket 2 creator pack. Great stuff no need of another Software to “code”. Straight out of the footage. By the way, this is THE STANDARD workflow for most “action” cameras. GoPro, insta and DJI action. DJI action 2 launched today, is another similar to Insta360 action workflow and there are overheating issue as well, beware.
the in camera stabilization still isnt as good as advertised. its basically an improvement on the previous basic in camera stabilization. not on gopro or dji level.
@@nyrubin cool. i have the action 1 and one x2. i think the x2 is probably the only worth insta360 camera. because 360 videos generally need reframing, so the app is necessary then.
I have been using the One RS with all three mods since June. I use it as a hybrid shooting setup for weddings fixed on my Lumix G9 as well as mounted on my DJI Mini 2. I am very happy with the results, especially in bad weather conditions. Taking into consideration that you have a very versatile camera with the 360 mod and the 1 inch mod, I couldn't imagine anything better for my business.
Well I must say I must be very lucky, I have had the 1X it worked out of the box with out any issues, I then brought the One R with 4K mod and 360 mod and it works well with no issues, I then brought the 1" Mod and it also works very well with no issues, I then then sold my 1X and brought the 1X mark II and it is amazing, I dome 360 edit on my iPad or laptop then send edited 360 to FCPX and finish the edit in there, and the issue with the 1" mod native files is an easy fix, I just changed the settings the Mpeg4 files and they can be dragged straight in to FCPX with out any issues.
I've had 5 insta360 cameras and have had NONE of these issues. The app crashes from time to time, but it's not worth getting upset about. Seems like you just got a lemon. It's not a reason to trash the whole company.
The post-editing video footages on PC is great featue! Expecially amateurs like me. I dont know what exactly fits my footage, what mode i should use, how much stabilization should be applied etc. I just give a try and pick the best.
power on is fast with just one tap, no need click longer. my unit don't give trouble like u mention bro, I love using the 360 mode. the 4k kept in the back.
Yesterday I've received my new Insta 360 one R 1" and after a couple of hours of frustration being unable to update the firmware and failing connection to my iPhone, I've called the store and their technical support suggested that I should return the camera. I was silly enough to ask for a replacement and not for a refund and now I'm expecting having the same problems with the other camera as well.
Insta's having to register the camera is a pain in the ass. I had the same issues with my Insta Go - And my phone was too old to activate the camera so I had to try 3 phones before one would work with it. Absolutely annoying as hell.
Lol, this camera was one of the 2 options (GoPro Hero 10 being the other) I looked at. I went with the GoPro, and between your review and some others I've seen, have no regrets about my decision. My Hero 10 is flawless. Have none of the issues you speak of, and is just a joy to work with,,
I bought this camera last month. Although I didn’t have any issues setting it up and installing the firmware like you did, my only gripe was the fogging issue which other users had encountered too. After 15 mins of using it, the lens fogged up and the camera got very hot. Insta360 said they’ll replace the lens guard as they suspect it’s the coating or film that caused the fogging. Let’s see if I’ll get a replacement lens guard.
I’m sorry you had all these issues with your Insta360 One R 1, I don’t own the R1 but I do have the Insta360 One X2 360 camera, so I do know about processing the files to add the stabilization in post, but I mostly use the app for this. And as far as getting motion blur on any of these action cameras, good luck with that. I think your only hope would to mount it on a tripod, and turn everything off in settings. The one inch helps out in lowlight, but the image stabilization doesn’t work well in the lowlight, so to really benefit from the larger sensor you need to mount the camera in lowlight situations. So I’m really sure the one inch sensor it worth the extra costs over other actions cameras, or even hand handle gimbal cameras such as the OSMO Mobile. Thanks for your honest experience with this camera, most reviews make it sound like the greatest camera everl
new firmware virtually sorts out all the issues. New quick reader makes whole process so faster - looks like you needed to wait? I have had none of your issues and use the 1 inch,4k and 360 mods on it - gives me 3 camera options in one in a super small package. The pro aspect of the software, even if its slows your post production down allows the best stability available today - even compared to my hero 10. Use manual settings with your nda filter?
Robin, thanks for the review, a few things I thought I'd mention as someone who LOVES their Insta 360 One R: 1. The activation step is so that they can confirm when the camera box was "opened" and used for the first time. This is necessary because they offer protection plans for breakages which have to be bought and activated within 3 days of the camera being activated 2. Can't speak to the issue you had with the front facing screen since I don't have the 1 inch mod, I've never had that issue with my 4k mod, and I don't really use the front facing configuration when I use the 360 mod. 3. As for the startup time: why not just leave the camera on? If you leave the camera on but not recording, and have a second battery on a charger in your bag (I ALWAYS have a battery on charge for each camera I'm using in my bag at all times, three batteries has always been enough, even if using for 16 hour days) 4. The recording delay and necessity of using their studio to get stabilization/dewarping/etc are pretty standard for all action cameras. Can't really speak as to why, I'd imagine it is either a lack of processing power in the camera itself, or trying to save battery and processing power on the camera. 5. Also haven't had the experience you had with the low light/stabilization issue. I use my 360 mod the most, and I've used it with ND filters and gotten nice and smooth footage from it; wonder if it is a 1 inch issue specifically, which would be a shame. Your feelings on the camera are totally valid, just a shame that it didn't work the way you had hoped, I love my little One R a ton!
Thanks Robert, appreciate the feedback. I'd assume use with ND filter is perfectly ok! Glad it worked with the 360 mod. Why I did not leave the action cam on all the time? Because I don't want to record 1TB of footage and have to sort through them later. It is for efficient workflow. I record only what I need, and I immediately use them later for editing. It saves time, and trust me, I don't have a lot of time.
Also, leave them on and not recording is not a good solution, because it takes 4 seconds to start recording after I hit the record button. Still does not solve the - "I want to capture that moment I see NOW, but I can't" problem.
"necessity of using their studio to get stabilization/dewarping/etc are pretty standard for all action cameras..." Not really... GoPro applies the stabilisation and de-warping in-camera - no software necessary.
It's really a shame, i have a yi sport camera, and for me the sport cameras are a gimmick. yes can register a lot of fps, but the quality presentation is totally inferior to any mft. Another problem with the sport cameras and smarphones are the exposure corrections, the sky blown and the fast changes of exposure if you rotate the camera. Sorry for you buy Robin, you saved me, i really considered to buy the insta 360 this summer, thanks to you i dodged a bullet to buy this camera.
When u press and hold the record button when off it'll record right away, also there's been an update it's faster... Stability also has been changed, the thing about insta they listen to customers and make changes based on reviews. To make things better.. I love my camera I've made a lot of videos with it.. I've made some amazing videos.. Captured the Aurora, car racing, bike vloges, it's all about settings and updates
I broke the LCD of my Olympus TG-5 (hard fall), and instead of getting the TG-6, I figured I'd think out of the box and look at an action cam instead. The Insta360 One R1 came up, and I was seriously thinking of getting it.. and now I think I'll give it a pass... thanks!
Thank you so much for this information, and finally a real life review and not any paid reviews. I have been thinking about Insta360 1" for a long time, but nope any more. I can't wait for DJI Action 2 that will also be a modular system like insta360, because I already love my Osmo Action and Pocket 2 + DJI-drone.
Hi Robin, thank you for sharing your experiences with this camera. You have saved me from making a terrible purchase mistake. Just knowing that this product requires "activation" is enough to stop me from buying it, let alone all of the other issues you have experienced. I will be doing more research to look for a better, more straight forward alternative.
Here to report that the One RS did improve on these slightly, BUT! I have to manually select linear for every single clip and there's no "select all" function for switching to linear (unless you film in linear from the get go) So Insta360, if you're watching, please include an apply linear (and other FOV) to all clips in your Insta360 studio (similar to the flowstate and denoise) as a quality of life update. Still the One RS with the Leica 1-inch (I spent RM1.7k during shopee sale) is currently the best action cam video quality I can get, better than my over RM2k Hero 11 (that constantly fails to record) which I have sold off shortly after. Another gripe about the One RS is that it randomly corrupts your memory card when you use the 360 mod (I heard it also happens on other Insta 360 cams) So when it does I got to go into windows and repair the mem card to retrieve the footage, which is a pain in the ass. Insta360 needs to do something about it because it's annoying.
omg this video has 100% dissuaded me from even considering the camera. thanks for sharing robin. this is a true feedback and sharing of real life application.
These are valid personal comments (just for transparency, I am a R1 owner); however I think your initial problems could be resolved by a “bypass” option [Insta360, are you listening] to just start using the camera. As for myself, as a novice photographer, the R1 is a wonderful device. In conjunction with my Hero8, the R1 fills a need and I’m happy with it. Oh and at 7:40 you mention stabilization… I resolved all my stabilization problems (with R1 & Hero8) with a Hohem iSteady v4 gimble.
Honest review. I have it. There is one and only one, old, firmware that doesn't have the "auto iso" "noise reduction" issue. I can't remember which version is right now. But as soon as I have the camera in my hands I will tell you. The problem is the iso is automatic, no matter if you set it to a fixed value. So it raises it so much it makes the footage noisy. So the genius on insta 360, instead of let it me manual and fixed they "solved" it applying noise reduction. Destroying the footage in the process. The firmware that doesn't have the issue is the one before "the big update" after that they just killed the camera
Wow, I really feel ur frustration. Was trying to get an action camera, good to stumble upon ur video here. Waiting to see how Dji Action 2 compared to Hero 10.
Wait until you take this camera on a trip, and somewhere in the middle of the mountains with no reception, it will suddenly refuse to work unless you update firmware, although this firmware worked just fine yesterday. Happened to me with my Insta360 One X. Insta360 products have a terrible user experience, essentially they make you feel small, and keep reminding you that you do not own what you paid for.
As a daily action cam vlogger I always wonder if the grass is greener with another device. Wow, I guess not. So glad I use what I do. No issues at all like these. I was about to buy an Insta360 to test. Guess I'll pass.
I found it disappointing because I bought the Insta 360 Go 2 and I'm absolutely impressed with everything about it. Straight out of the box filming and taking pictures, you can choose the basic settings in camera even without viewfinder and in the app you can choose much more detailed and manual modes. You can set up shortcuts, I use one press to take photo and two presses to start recording, and it happens immediately even when the camera is off. Regarding the files, if you choose normal photo and video, the preset is baked into the file and you can immediately transfer and use them but when you choose the pro file, the picture is raw and the video is actually a full sensor recording, where you need their app to select later how you want to cut the image (16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, and each mode has different sensor coverage), adjust the stabilization (off, flow state, action mode) and even the horizon (locked, based on the giroscope or manually adding keyframes in the video, since the cropped image can rotate 360° around the full sensor file), so you can first record and later choose all the settings to export into the final processed file, for that needing the app. Photos are great, night mode is very good besides taking a little longer to capture. I confess the app is not the best and the transfer is somehow slower than I expected but overall I'm pretty happy and impressed with the quality, so much that I'm here checking other products from the company to buy.
@@herlingwowor1896 No, I've not used any 360 cam yet. Insta360 Go 2 is not a 360 cam, but a traditional action cam like the GoPro Hero series. The name is misleading. But Insta360 is the brand, it doesn't imply 360 cams.
THANK YOU - I will still consider the Insta360 ONLY when a second edition is released AND watching your review. So disappointed by these issues which were totally hidden by almost all the you tubers for whatever reasons.

Yes i have insta 360 one r too and its perfect gopro is trash
for the part of noise reduction i think you are right , after facing some issues , the best solution is to leave camera to auto mode , surprisingly it works much better in that mode
Ouch-that was certainly a full house of hair-tearing problems. Thank you for the brave and honest review.
Good timing. You helped me dodge a bullet as I'm shopping for an action camera.
Same
Beware of overheating in DJI action 2.
Lol me too
the export is for sure another step , but exporting is really very fast ( few seconds) , unless you activated the color plus option
Thanks for the heads-up Robin. Sounds like you had a inaction camera. That video output reminds me of my first smartphone from 2009!
you don't like it then?
Great Review, and Great Information!! Thank You Robin!!
Robin, new version just launched. Will you get one and doing another review?
I love this camera. I never had any of these problems.
Caveat emptor: 'let the buyer beware': you made the purchasing mistake so we don't have to...thanks for the review.
Maybe we owe Robin more than just a coffee for this one? How about a steak dinner. :D
For me, connection is really easy to do, installation of all the app and software was fast, and stabilization is now already automatic, should be maybe in your parameters by default. I like especially for 360° to use first the software then move on a more standard software.
I hit like on your video because you are the happiest complainer I've ever seen!
You didn’t answer any of his issues.
You are right in all your critic. I also bought a back-bone modul. But its not like expected.
Thanks, Robin, I have been contemplating buying this camera. Perhaps I put that out of my consideration now.
When I started looking for a vlogging camera, I did look at the 360 One R but I discounted it as it was too new and there was a lack of 'real life' reviews/tests on RUclips so I opted for the Osmo Pocket instead. It seems that I did well to avoid it. Good luck in getting your problems resolved.
it's a great camera.
I like it.
thank you for sharing, now i will go to go pro hero 10 now.
I got the twin edition recently... just tested it over a weekend... will update you after I go thru the footage... fingers crossed...
Interesting take. Thanks for your time tsken in showing the faults of this system
i am so sorry to hear that Robin! I am thinking of buying 360 action camera to record family outing, indoor and welcoming my new baby !!! Almost bought this one.
It's nice to see a video critical of a product. So many review are just too positive. Great video Robin!
You should try x2. Not bad. No complains on the quality.
I wonder how many of theese quircks where fixed in the RX version...
1” sensor but f3.2 lens what is the point!? Not real advantage in dark 😢
“This video is not sponsored. Insta360 did not pay me to say how terrible their cameras is” 😂
Thanks. Almost chose this camera over the gopro hero 10.
Thank you for honest review. I agree with everything said, I’ve tested this camera as well
Personally I think Insta360 provided tons of fun through its AI editing and app features, through that lots of effects become feasible and the video is greatly optimized.
Planning to get the ace pro and your video is helpful in giving me an idea if the insta360 ecosystem is for me.
my problem on my 1inch insta360 one R is taking slow on taking photos it takes 5 to 8 seconds 😢😢😢
New software update has in body flow state stabilization now. But! The video quality will more than likely be same lol
the in camera stabilization still isnt as good as advertised. its basically an improvement on the previous basic in camera stabilization. not on gopro or dji level.
@@truthseeker6804 I sold mine after only having it for two weeks smh. Love the action 2 though
@@nyrubin cool. i have the action 1 and one x2. i think the x2 is probably the only worth insta360 camera. because 360 videos generally need reframing, so the app is necessary then.
Thank you. The analysis is very useful and thought-provoking.
Makes me happy about my GoPro Hero10 choice. Although, it's far from perfect, it doesn't sound as bad as the Insta360.
Thanks for your reviewing.
You the only one who talks about cons for insta 360 one R.
You're not wrong! Hoping if they make a new one that its a huge improvement. Im interested in a 360 1"
power on is fast with just one tap, no need click longer. my unit don't give trouble like u mention bro, I love using the 360 mode. the 4k kept in the back.
Wanna sell it?
Insta's having to register the camera is a pain in the ass. I had the same issues with my Insta Go - And my phone was too old to activate the camera so I had to try 3 phones before one would work with it. Absolutely annoying as hell.
Lol, this camera was one of the 2 options (GoPro Hero 10 being the other) I looked at. I went with the GoPro, and between your review and some others I've seen, have no regrets about my decision. My Hero 10 is flawless. Have none of the issues you speak of, and is just a joy to work with,,
Have you had any problems with SD card errors?
Thank you so much for the review ! Saving me headaches if I have had bought it.
Thank you Robin you have just saved me a lot of money awesome review.
No one else talk about bad user experience. Thanks for the review.
Robin has built his pair of guns 💪💪
The most brutal review issue ive seen. Thanks volcano man
new firmware virtually sorts out all the issues.
Weird that you said you have to connect to phone before activate the camera, it never happen to me at all
Robin, thanks for the review, a few things I thought I'd mention as someone who LOVES their Insta 360 One R:
1. The activation step is so that they can confirm when the camera box was "opened" and used for the first time. This is necessary because they offer protection plans for breakages which have to be bought and activated within 3 days of the camera being activated
2. Can't speak to the issue you had with the front facing screen since I don't have the 1 inch mod, I've never had that issue with my 4k mod, and I don't really use the front facing configuration when I use the 360 mod.
3. As for the startup time: why not just leave the camera on? If you leave the camera on but not recording, and have a second battery on a charger in your bag (I ALWAYS have a battery on charge for each camera I'm using in my bag at all times, three batteries has always been enough, even if using for 16 hour days)
"necessity of using their studio to get stabilization/dewarping/etc are pretty standard for all action cameras..."
Not really...
Captured the Aurora, car racing, bike vloges, it's all about settings and updates
no action camera got motion blur and stabilization same time。
Thank goodness I saw this before making any purchase.
I broke the LCD of my Olympus TG-5 (hard fall), and instead of getting the TG-6, I figured I'd think out of the box and look at an action cam instead. The Insta360 One R1 came up, and I was seriously thinking of getting it.. and now I think I'll give it a pass... thanks!
I whanted to upgrade my virb ultra 30 but the video artifacts here left me frozen.
Beware of action 2 overheating. Look at the spec carefully, on the horizon limitation only on certain video settings.
When I saw that it's a CCP-made product, that was enough for me to not buy it.
Here to report that the One RS did improve on these slightly, BUT!
I have to manually select linear for every single clip and there's no "select all" function for switching to linear (unless you film in linear from the get go)
So Insta360, if you're watching, please include an apply linear (and other FOV) to all clips in your Insta360 studio (similar to the flowstate and denoise) as a quality of life update.
Still the One RS with the Leica 1-inch (I spent RM1.7k during shopee sale) is currently the best action cam video quality I can get, better than my over RM2k Hero 11 (that constantly fails to record) which I have sold off shortly after.
Another gripe about the One RS is that it randomly corrupts your memory card when you use the 360 mod (I heard it also happens on other Insta 360 cams)
So when it does I got to go into windows and repair the mem card to retrieve the footage, which is a pain in the ass.
Insta360 needs to do something about it because it's annoying.
thanks enjoyed, why i research first, decide last
omg this video has 100% dissuaded me from even considering the camera.
thanks for sharing robin. this is a true feedback and sharing of real life application.
I had also a problem with that laggy thing Too,preview of the camera is slow takes some seconds ,so what did you with that?
DJI Action 3 is out 😂🤣
Insta is over priced crap
Insta get u to register it to activate it to sell your details
This video is basically:
Tyrese “WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FROM ME!?” meme personified 😂😂😂😂
Wait until you take this camera on a trip, and somewhere in the middle of the mountains with no reception, it will suddenly refuse to work unless you update firmware, although this firmware worked just fine yesterday. Happened to me with my Insta360 One X. Insta360 products have a terrible user experience, essentially they make you feel small, and keep reminding you that you do not own what you paid for.
I thought for sure, your final frames would be of you tossing it into the closest trash bin!! LOL...
I confess the app is not the best and the transfer is somehow slower than I expected but overall I'm pretty happy and impressed with the quality, so much that I'm here checking other products from the company to buy.
which camera do you use if i may ask. Thank you 🙏.
@@herlingwowor1896 GoPro Hero 9. For this kind of action or waterproof work.
@@ScottAlanMillerVlog the reason i was attracted to the insta 360 is its 360 mod. Do you have experience with the gopro max?
@@herlingwowor1896 No, I've not used any 360 cam yet. Insta360 Go 2 is not a 360 cam, but a traditional action cam like the GoPro Hero series. The name is misleading. But Insta360 is the brand, it doesn't imply 360 cams.
