Thanks for the wonderful video and guidance. I am looking at an action camera as i ride bike. I like the modular concept of RS but not too sure if that's the one i should invest in. I am not a Pro photographer but want my pics and videos to be correct with image stabilization as they become shaky with the bumps and vibrations.
Wondering on the audio on both version, i primarily want to use it on my motorbike and currently use the Hero8 which has terrible audio with wind noise, id prefer to have a mic added without it adding another £60 to the price
GOOD BOY 👏 exhaustive tutorial !! However, I add a DEFECT that I found and I i to check video recordings, the synchronization between action cam and iPhone (latest generation) is out of phase. In other words, the app sometimes delays the shooting and sometimes freezes the recording. It is therefore very difficult 😞 to operate with precision.
Great video! Well paced. I’m confused though, is this waterproof or rugged? If the lenses are so fragile then how is it rugged? I was looking for a dependable and rugged 360 to put under my plane wing.
There have been a lot of posts about problems underwater so use the dive case. All 360 cameras are vulnerable due to the lenses - you can get sticky lens protectors.

Is loop recording (dash cam mode) recording in 360? If so does it fill up the card before deleting the oldest recording? How long would it do with a 1 TB memrycard?
It’s just important to record at 5.7k and ideally export in the desktop studio at 4k, I usually use prores. RUclips tends to compress stuff so the more resolution you can give it the better. If you have the time then manual settings with as lower iso as possible is best.

Before you dive Slide down from the top and then select the padlock icon - this will lock the screen. You can then use the on button to toggle between shooting modes.

I really like the app, but on a phone screen its very difficult. And unfortunate the insta360 studio software in windows is limited in functions like the lab shots. Yes using the insta360 app as shown in the video you can download to the app and then export to your phone to watch and share. The home feature is the area of the app with other videos - connect to your camera by using the camera icon as shown in the video.
Thank you very much for htis video. Delivery is scheduled for my new RS to arrive tomorrow so this guide really helps. I'm curious, at 9:01, you mention that hdr while in 360 needs to be on a tripod or the vid will be blurry. Do you mean a tripod as in a static placement? I will be mounting it on top of bike helmet with a 16 cm extension arm (both for cycling and motorcycling) which isn’t static but I prefer hdr to be on. Can I use hdr while mounted on my helmet or will the vid be too blurry? It’s quite a difference having footage that is non-blurry with hdr, vs blurry hdr since I find hdr an important feature to have. The biking I do are through forest trails so the footage will go from sunny to darker (under the trees) and back and forth many times so I prefer hdr on to bring out the darker colours that happen under dense bush. I have the camera. When I enter my sd card the camera literally stops working. The screen turns off it wont record and and it just wont do anything. When I remove the sd card it works normally. Any tips?
Now it works with the sd card, but when I click record, the screen turns off it only shows sd card time left what preset im filming and battery other than that its blank. I set in settings that the screen is on when I record but still i click the record button it does a beep and then nothing.
I haven’t tried it but I’m Aware reading the online comments that there have been some Android issues with Insta360 cameras - check out the Facebook group and ask the question there
Been following your videos about the One RS and decided to buy one. However, out of the box I've had all sorts of issues trying to connect to the phone. Tried different phones and all the advice on Insta360 support until they told me to return it 😔 Having now looked around on forums it appears that I'm not alone in having problems with connecting the camera. I've returned it for a full refund and now debating to "try" again and hope that it was just bad luck that I'd landed one from a bad batch! Do you have any thoughts (or have heard of others having connection issues) or have evidence of reliability/connecting etc ? I still love the idea of the camera but my confidence has been put off - So your thoughts would be welcome Graham
Hi Graham, sorry to hear you’ve had trouble. I know there have been a lot of issues in the past with android phones so I’m not sure whether you have tried both android and iPhone. It’s worth posting on the insta Facebook page to see if others have had the same issue with your particular phone. I have an iPhone XS and have had the occasional Issue where I’ve had to press join a couple of times but never where it wouldn’t join at all. On occasion I have had to select the cameras WiFi from my phone which has been a workaround when there were connection issues. Also when you first connect sometimes you have to put in the camera WiFi password which is 88888888. If you do buy again definitely go to Amazon as you’ll find it easier to return. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

Maybe a faulty memory card or faulty camera - it’s rare for the camera not to record at all. Try putting the card into a desktop to see if there are any files on it.
For 360 you’ll only be given the option of the frame rate you shot it in - this was shot at 25 frames per second - it should have been 30 for the purpose of the video but I must have selected my default setting when I recorded.
Hi thx for the video but unfortunately I don’t have to watch the hole video as I guess there’s no way you can charge extra batteries from a power bank while out on your adventure if it has to be connected to the other modules and for that reason I’ll not be buying this camera

You need a smart phone to use the camera otherwise you can’t update the camera firmware and you have to do this the first time you use it. Once updated I suppose you could use it without a smartphone but you’d have to edit everything on a desktop computer which is very limited compared to the app. You may be able to download the camera updates from the Insta360 website.

If you don’t need 360 then I’d always go for a more solid one piece camera like the GoPro 8 (I’d buy the 10 for the higher spec) but if you want the different lenses then go for RS.

I’ve found that sometimes the recording appears to freeze on the phone if you’re too far away but it still does record it ok.

Timelapse and timeshift create videos. Starlspse takes photos but can be processed as a video using shot lab.

For moving hdr shots you will need active hdr which I think only the x3 has otherwise it will be blurry.

will something like a RODE Wireless GO receiver mounted on the Insta360 ONE RS ( in 360 mode ) camera shoe show up on the video?
You’ll need the proper mounting bracket so that it stays hidden in the stitchline

At 15:30 the frame rate available is only 25 fps?

If you have the dual charger you can plug a powerbank into it via usbc and charge on the move

It sounds like you may have recorded them in timeshift mode - if you have you should be able to readjust the speed in the app or desktop studio.
