When i clicked on this i thought i already knew everything about using the x4 because i use it a lot for our rv travel vlog channel, but his video was full of useful tweaks to give my footage that extra little touch to make it look better after reframing. Thanks Larry
Still hoping they fix the the app Gyro reframing featuring ..it still has a horizon lock going on and isn't letting you record tilting FPV style motions
This video helped me, set camera closer to subject instead of trying to zoom in on subject. Helped me with my recording of birds feeding on my bird feeders.
Great video thank you. So even though the reframe result is about 2,7k (shooting in 8k), you can still export in 4K? How does this upscaling work? Since insta360 has i think never mentioned that they upscale the video? Wish that the future X5 will come closer to real 4k however.
Thanks - In basic terms it uses very clever ai and algorithms to fill in the missing pixels - and does a very good job of it. There will be people in the comments much more tech savvy than me so if anyone reads this and wants to expand feel free. Yes it would be great if the X5 was 11k and then gave a true 4k image once reframed.
love the enthusiasm and great tips Rich! If only I could do stuff ... I'm 74 and cannot take it in easily. For instance, sharpness- I love sharp images. But see everywhere sharp can be too sharp... oh well ...
Yeah but if there’s a certain look that you like then sometimes you have to ignore my tips and ignore other opinions. My tips are just based on what I like and what I do - it doesn’t mean I’m right lol. Do it your way my friend - if you like the look then that’s all that matters! 👍😎
I’m new to the x4 and 360 in general and have a beginner question… why when i download an image or video do i get two files and what is the difference between them? Do i need both? Do you have a prior video that discusses this?
One is an LRV file and this is a low resolution file that is used during editing so you can see preview images when you look at the thumbnails for each clip and also it’s used to make the editing faster. The other video file (not LRV) is the high res version - you can just use this one but it’s best just to keep all the files just in case. They used to have one file for each lens but I don’t think they do that now with the x4.
Be aware that exporting in ProRes can cause problems with editing and playback if you dont have the right kind of computer. i blindly followed the advice to export in prores by all these tech/camera guru's and was unable to view or use properly the exported files
Insta360 X3 - Would you be able to tell me how to get my camera to *stop* recording both formats (file types) in video/record mode? 1. My memory fills up entirely too fast while in record mode due to this. And while I can technically keep manually erasing the two file types from my desktop. Or reformatting to clear the SD Card while still in the camera...I'd like to not have to keep doing that. 2. I know that one file type is for video. Which is the one that we should keep. But what is the other file type for? Will I mess anything up by only keeping one file type?
You can’t stop it doing it unfortunately - the other file type is an LRV file and is only used to give you playable thumbnails during editing. It’s a low resolution file. Never delete the video file but you can delete the LRV file if you want to but I don’t think it takes up ad much memory as the main file. If you only keep the LRV file this will give you a low quality image. Hope this helps

Yes good point - thanks for the comment.
Dji osmo pocket 3 ,is the best for quality
I’ll be buying one soon can’t wait to test it out
Ätzend.
1:43 Taking off the lens guards... is overkill.
If you scratch your lens... the whole camera is good for the garbage. Keeps the guards.
