Ok I don’t have any cameras well besides my phone and it’s just the phone and I don’t really have a RUclips channel well I sorta do but I haven’t put anything on it for years and it only has a few videos I recorded with a phone but I want to start again I’m not going to use it for talking head stuff to much mainly diy type stuff would this be a good set up and would it be good for time lapse videos ?
The Hero 10 has fixed its old reliability issues and introduced a brand new one. Apparently it overheats faster than a pre-firmware-updated R5. Thoughts?
Thats the gopro marketing scheme. Introduce a problem on the newly released model just to market the fix as an upgrade on the next model. I dont know why delusional gopro fans don’t see this.
The overheating may help up in the Toronto area during winter when you're short on pocket warmers and forgot your mittens. But modern cameras not factoring in overheating is really bad engineering and management "pushing product out the door" to maintain things like a stock price. I like the compare to the DJI and even though the image isn't "better" in the DJI, it has some good value in the price and options available.
Wow! That little light setup totally stole the show! Got it immediately! Thank you for shedding some light on this... hehe Used your link! Hopefully, those few dollars will be the right amount that will help you to get something for yourself! Thank you for your very unique perspective on things! You are very entertaining!
It sounds good, 1/1.7 sensor finally. That should obliterate any gopro. Seem also that the sensor is only 12MP, and that's a smart move. Should have way better low light performance. These cameras should never have over 8MP resolutions, because the lenses cant keep up.
Cages with 52mm filter threads are worth their weight in gold. BTW, the biggest advantage of the Osmo Action is that it is a whole lot of fun to use. Cheap, and big heaps of fun. Too many pixel peepers forget that cameras should firstly be fun.
Wow not a single point for detail you get Osmo... Super compressed blurry image and the filter makes it even more washed out... I love your videos and advice you give BUT that image quality is not even quality..
Thank u so much dude, I love your idea and I haven't seen anyone like that to put the small osmo above the gopro 10!!!! I've had my osmo action for about 2 years and it's still a beast going strong. Although I don't have those accessories.
Please Help: I dabbled in photography for a couple years and I have a Fuji X-T30 with the 15-45mm kit lens. I'm starting a travel vlog, and I picked up a Rode Videomic Pro and a gimbal for b roll. I'll be shooting myself and my family in the car, hotel rooms and walking around. The X-T30 seems out of it's element having no IBIS or flippy screen. I haven't been doing this long enough to know how much of a problem it will be. Should I think about a different body?
Geee you're in Toronto! Canada Post, stolen bike, you are close to DVP and this store sign on the right at 13:05 reminded me of Honest Ed's, then the CHUM ad (however I'm all Q107) and Pizza Pizza... Oh, Broadview Station! Gee! Uh I'm nostalgic. Just few months ago moved back to Europe (lived 11y in Toronto). I just can't see what the synth is.
Ok in all honesty, I was expecting trash comparing to the Hero 10 but surprisingly it ain't that bad. Who would have thought an action cam from early 2019 would still be this good and as you said, it just works which is testament to DJI products.
I am always so happy when I stop in to watch your videos. No matter what you're talking about, it's better than standup! I like small rig gear just so I can take a simple camera and make it appear as complex as possible and leave people wondering what the heck you have in your hand???? And add the extra handles and a carry handle while you're at it and no one can see the camera brand anymore. YOU just keep doing YOU and we'll keep watching. Thank you!
Brother, you are one of a kind and I’m glad I found your channel a while back. BTW, what song is that playing when you were filming the pigeons? It was hypnotic and went great with the colors.
Great video! I used to think that I'm the coolest vlogger with an action camera, but after watching you do your thing, I see that I was wrong. I have been telling a lot of people about the DJI Osmo Action as a great budget friendly alternative.
If you think about the fact that the OAC came out shortly after after the Hero 7 and is still going strong plus it's one of the most loved action cameras around. I'd wait to at least see what the Action 2 has to offer. That's what I'm going to do. The heat issue with the 10 worries me cause of the way I use them, I've toasted a few to many ACs before.
A company called Andoer do interesting little RBG lights, I got one that doubles as a powerbank too. If you want to bring Pentax into the channel try some of the Limited lenses with adapters on the Sony, or better still an old Takumar 28mm F2.8, probably the least sharp Takumar lens but it has a look, it's like a lens with a built in diffusion filter
You got me with the thumbnail. That small rig is pretty cool. I was a fan on the Osmo until I got water inside of it. Get a housing if you want to use it underwater. The didn't really want to do much to help me with replacing it.
It's easy to put a 52 mm filter on a GoPro Hero 10 or Hero 9. Try the Ulanzi G9-4 Plastic Cage. Only $20 US. It comes with a detachable filter adapter ring exactly like the one you were demonstrating in this video. I have one. It's great.
I should add that this G9-4 cage from Ulanzi was designed specially for use with the GoPro Mic Adapter. You have to also buy the Mic Adapter if you wish to plug an external microphone into the GoPro. That's what this G9-4 is meant for. It's got nothing to do with the GoPro Media Mod. Personally, I think this Ulanzi G9-4 plus the Mic Adapter is a far superior method of attaching an external microphone to the GoPro. It's much better than the GoPro Media Mod. It's much easier to use, especially when it comes to mounting and accessing the GoPro's battery and memory card. This G9-4 comes with the removable 52mm filter adapter that I mentioned. It also comes with a square GoPro lens cover and a special cold shoe adapter to raise a microphone higher and keep it out of the GoPro's field of view.
Watched a ton of your videos from Thailand and not once did I think about the video quality because those videos were so entertaining. For those folks who seem preoccupied with video quality, they probably have no idea how to produce good content.
I have dji osmo action, but I think about gopro 10 ... Dji is pretty good and kind to me. Okay, we have an X 2021 and a new DJI osmo on the horizon, but the old DJ is still a very fine camera. Your cage is qood and confortable, but isn't cheep.
How'd you mount the OA to the selfie stick? If I put an Arca tripod plate on the bottom, how do I change batteries? Pull the plate each time? Or pull the OA out of the cage?
Just a regular tripod screws into the cage. Battery door is on the bottom so you have to remove the tripod or arca plate if you have one on, or just open the back and take the camera out which is probably faster.
Another great video! It's funny, I saw the benefits of that SmallRig cage when I started looking into action cameras, as well. At that time, I didn't have a camera yet and SmallRig only showed 2 cages in stock. I jumped on it. DJI can thank SmallRig for the sale. Great content. Keep up the good work! Thank you.
LOL> You are one of the most interesting people I have ever watched. Normally I watch reviews and get bored half way through. Your s was nothing but boring. Subscribed!
Bro i gotta say that your video is cool funny,,,not "over done funny" or "I'm trying hard to be funny funny",,, i can watch, learn something and laugh a bit! So keep it up man.
I just got the DJI Pocket 2 and I am super impressed (and happy) with this camera! It's the perfect all around camera and I'm prepared to defend that statement.
I don’t even know why am watching this video I was just flipping videos on RUclips Bro but I couldn’t stop laughing 🤣🤣🤣🤣you make me laugh so much then I went on Amazon and I order a DGI Osmo action cam I don’t give a damn what other people say 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 thanks
I’ve got a GoPro Hero 5 Black that I really like. It doesn’t have great stabilization, but on a gimbal it would be fine. It’s not glitchy. I wouldn’t plug a mic into it but that’s what Zoom H1’s are for. I was upset that GoPro got rid of the HDMI output and added this big media mod in the next few versions. Just make the camera with the ports ppl want. Needing a media mod is like only selling part of the camera and forcing ppl to buy the rest as an accessory. It doesn’t make sense. For $600-$800 you can buy a DSLR. Seems like $500 or under should be the sweet spot for a price tag. Otherwise ppl will just use their phones or buy a big kid camera.
The good thing about this is that DJI (probably in my country only) sells a refurbished one that is twice cheaper than a used Gopro or insta 360 one r. Which is handy when you need a action cam you can use on a dangerous situation and not minding losing it.
What are your thoughts on Leica and their superior image quality compared to pleb-level AF in their SL system? How do you feel about the Leica M system as well?
I have owned the SL for over 3 years. The AF is not an issue for me with the SL16-35 zoom. I also use R lenses adapted to the SL body. I have tried the Sigma and Panasonic long zoom lenses with AF in L mount and found the SL with them perfectly useable for wildlife and birds in flight. The M systems are having issues with calibration in the range finder. Better off with mirrorless.
For vlogging purposes, which is the lane I think the action cameras are trying to takeover, I’d be interested in getting your feedback on the iPhone 13 pro(cinematic mode) compared to something like the Osmo/GoPro. The stabilization on the GoPro 10 is still magical.
It’s obvious now that GoPro’s R&D team meets secretly on a weekly basis to sift through Camera Conspiracy videos for improvement possibilities. I’m not buying one until CC performs trash container testing.
Not sure if you have any opinion on this... It may just help with inspiration for a future video. - Here's my issue: I'm building a podcast studio and realised my EOSR & M50 wont cut it since they have recording limits. I could allways get an external monitor for my EOSR and get two gopros as a B & C cams. How bad can it be, for 500$ each, instead of purshasing actual camcorders @ 1000$ ish. With the proper lighting and a 4k-5k res. I'm assuming it will work perfectly. (On a tight budget & canadian $ :S.) - Looking at Gopros 8-9-10
Damn!! You got me!!! But dude. I still have the Dji Osmo action! It’s freaking amazing! I bought the new drip.. the hero 10.. but I still like using the dji.. it’s something about it.
Honestly the Black Pro Mist filter is just hurting your image quality. I'm pretty sure CineD profile on DJI cameras cuts down sharpening a lot already so you don't need to worry about oversharpening as much.
Looked like a cool set-up. I like my Akaso 6+ for Motovlogging, but I think the sound isn't good enough (even with the usb mike) for this kind of walking vlog. I think the Akaso, with the forward-facing screen has better sound than the 6+. Another great vid. Love the slow-mo and 'pigeon-colour-correction' - So cinematic... the magic was yours. Cheers, Campbell from New Zealand.
Not a fan of that Black Pro Mist...it's too heavy. It makes the picture just look like your lens is filthy. Black Pro Mist...more like, Black Amateur Fog.
Now attach a Rode Wireless Go receiver to the hotshoe + Cynova adapter and you won't need to go tethered anymore. Also, the Osmo Action's image is quite soft OOC which you might mistake for bad image quality, but sharpens up very nicely in post (try using 0.47 in Davinci Resolve).
I actually think the stabilization on this looks way better than on GoPro in terms of having a natural look. With the gopro it looks like you are moving and the rest of the world stays the same when it stablizes vs with this you still get a natural slight bounce which makes it feel like more of a normal camera.
We drone dorks are really watching for the Action 2 because it appears that it's going to have the form factor of a GoPro Session and the screen is presumably removable.
The only issue that I have with DJI Osmo Action is the field of view with 4k, 60fps, steady on. It cuts so much when mounting on my chest strap and go mountain biking. I have to shot in 2k, 4:3, 30fps, steady on to get a better field of view. It is annoying and also I wish I knew how much I will miss from the shot.

The GoPro 10 doubles as a handwarmer after a few minutes of recording. Just in time to help us get through a harsh Canadian winter.
Brilliant!
The proper camera for hockey and curling adventures.
Well that's pretty pricey for a handwarmer. I guess we got scammed. Could've gotten one for 5 bucks. XD

Waiting on that action 2!
dude, you became a squirrel
love the content, not bad.
What's the model of that camara
DJI Osmo Action
What's the name of that camara ?
Read the pinned comment.
Why does the DJI Osmo give you pixel halos? I feel Marcus is telling you to get a DSC-RX100 VII ... not sure you will like the 35mm equivalent!
3:35 LoL! "Weighs more than my grandmother did after baking my birthday cake." WTF?!
Definitely good content matters more than footage quality. But there are limits, and the best combination is good content + good quality.
Ohh shit.. I didnt know you were filming or live in Ottawa.. such a nice, clean, walkable neighborhoods they have there.
Can you show how you color your cine d it's so good
Not a fan of that Black Pro Mist...it's too heavy.
Sub'd. Hilarious man.
why cant I stop watching this vlog?
The only issue that I have with DJI Osmo Action is the field of view with 4k, 60fps, steady on. It cuts so much when mounting on my chest strap and go mountain biking. I have to shot in 2k, 4:3, 30fps, steady on to get a better field of view. It is annoying and also I wish I knew how much I will miss from the shot.
Finally, my prayers have been answered. No longer will my screen be covered in sandwich. Thank you SmallRig!
Sponsered video and he calls them SmartRig :D Nice.
I know that street lol. Cheers for the vid!
The camera...not so much...the light kit...I want one!!
I'd like you to try Nikon's key mission. I doubt it'd be a fair battle.
