Quick Update About Webcam Mode: Turns out the camera will work without the battery installed when connected via USB, which means the battery won't drain _and_ it'll stay powered on indefinitely 👍
Okay, this is what I've been looking for. I've been looking at buying both a new Webcam to replace my broken C920 from 5 years ago... and a camera for recording night driving footage... and I thought Stuff it lets get the best thing money can buy since I've spent next to nothing all year because Australia is still in lockdown and I ought to treat myself. Appreciate the dad jokes... lots of Puns in 10ded.
Overheating after 10-15mins is one thing. The fact that GoPro has stated it is not going to do anything about it, makes not want to buy it. I think the Hero8 and DJI Osmo Action are cheaper, good alternatives available.
I don’t know if they’re ignoring the problem by not doing anything, I think it’s more a limitation of trying to have a 5k camera in a tiny waterproof housing 🤷🏻♂️
I don't think there is any other action Cam in its size that can record at such high quality for any longer time lengths. I think for an action cam it has the longest record times before over heating at such a high vidoe quality.
I looked around and after much consideration i went for the hero 5 black, spent a week or so testing it out for what I intend to use it for that is mountain biking. I did various tests and i came up with the following settings that seem to work well. Resolution 2-7K '30FPS in superview, flat profile in protune, kelvin scale for WB, ISO at 400, auto shutter speed, EV comp adjusted for the conditions, sharp low and audio high. I use those settings for on bike footage taken from a chest mount, however for "B" roll stuff where I wanna slow it down i use 1080p @240 FPS in wide view. I did some tests adding this to a 2-7K timeline in my editor and i slowed it down and speed ramped it down to 25% and it works brilliantly!! I turn off GPS and I do not pair it with my phone, I have LEDs all off, i do use voice commands, auto off is set to never, screensaver is turned off, video format is set to NTSC (despite being in a PAL region) I colour correct using DaVinci resolve and it works great. I shot in 2-7K but downsampled it to 1080p on the video output and it looks just great!! In my opinion most of the problems surrounding these action cameras arise from improper use. Most people want to shoot at 4/5 K with a high FPS with very little proper ventilation. for extended amounts of time DO NOT DO THIS!!!! If you purchase this camera make sure you buy a PROPER SD CARD i use a Sandisk 128 GbV30 u3 A2 and i have no issues with freezing or overheating at all. I also purchased a couple of extra batteries complete with a charger via USB (Artman from amazon) Do not use this for talking heads vlogging at 4K and the highest FPS it will overheat !! I thoroughly recommend this camera i got mine down at MPB in the UK great value at around £150 i bought a chest mount and mounting case and it all works perfectly
Thanks for sticking around so long Nicholas! GoPros and audio gear are quite a bit different from 3D printers, so I appreciate the support! Back to the old topic though, I got the Prusa Mini when it was released a few years ago, and wow, that thing has become my favorite printer. It's so easy and reliable, I used it for everything now.
My first GoPro was the Hero 4 Black. Still works but rarely used. I then got the Session 5. I still have three of them and its size means they still get regular use. But my main GoPro is these days a couple of Hero 7's. However, the reason I am watching this is a couple of Hero 10's are in transit to my door, and the 7's will join the Session 5's on B-roll duty.
Are you kidding me!? I legit just hit up my friend who works for GoPro to ask him ALL about the GoPro 10 - bc just yesterday I decided i wanted the GoPro 10 for my birthday and had to start filming some of my biking adventure Vlog footage using a GoPro ... this GoPro10 seemed... PERFECT. And THEN... one day later = I see this video of yours = completely confirming my decision to YES Get The 10! THANK YOU @Tom Buck !! PS: oh and my buddy also says NOT to worry re: any of those vloggers complaining about "overheating" he says it will in fact be updated in the firmware - coming out soon. AND that it's only overheating when it's just sitting there in someone's office - which is NOT for the intended purpose -- which is: Jumping out of planes, and biking, and going FAST -- outside -- where it gets PLENTY of wind and airflow = where the overheating is not an issue at all. soooo -- hopefully that update helps anyone who came across a stupid overheating video thinking they shouldn't get the GoPRo 10 b/c of this. HAHAHAA and i already replayed the 0:29 section and will replay that line once again after i hit Comment -- b/c I legit CRACKED Up Laughing ... A -- b/c it's TRUE and B - b/c your laugh is infectious. (in the good kinda way) heeehee
Haha, thank you! I always take the disclosure part so seriously that this made me laugh really hard. And yes, the 10 is awesome! I'm 100% not worried about overheating, but I know that it can be an issue for some people. With things like this specifically, it sometimes feels like many people want to find only the negative. This isn't a cinema camera- it's a GoPro and it's a _really_ good GoPro.
@@tombuck YESSS!!! exactly! in fact, i won't hit the click bait when Creators "go negative" in their title - especially when they're literally just picking apart ONE flaw and then use it to get views. honestly - this is why I trust your reviews & watch yours from start to finish - b/c you always give a legit, honest review of products. (not to mention all the Laughs you give us along the way. Glad you left your laughter at that part. TOO Funny! Your line in the comment: "it's a GoPro and it's a REALLY good GoPro." A-to-the-men! This new GoPro 10 is legit a MAJOR improvement from any other version - and quite literally Perfect. My buddy shared this version is a completely new CPU - now GP2 - when every other GoPro before was built on GP1. So now I'm super excited. Going to pick one up this weekend ... w/ a Bunch of accessories! Thanks for sharing such a thorough and HONEST Review of this brand new / next Gen GoPro You ROCK! PS: GoPro needs to keep sending you more stuff to review. I'll probably buy em ALL! haha
You got me all nostalgic feeling over here. Filmed my wedding on a GP 4, started vlogging on a 7 and started my food channel on an 8. I don't have any of them anymore BUT after seeing this video and some of the other reviews I'm considering introducing a 10 into my kit. The quality looks great!
I'm on the same venture with the new Hero 10 replacing an ancient Hero 3+ Silver. The stabilization on the Hero 10 is mind blowing. The 3+ Sliver has no stabilization at all. Keep airflow on the Hero 10 and the overheating is gone. I have mine mounted on a motorcycle and road for over 2 hours and no overheating. At the end of the ride after 2 hours the Hero 10 felt barely over skin temperature. How did I have the Hero 10 run for over 2 hours ? well, I had a USB cable going to a USB charging port on my bikes dash and the side cover was replaced with a 3rd party side cover with the Hero 10's USB port open to attach the cable. This set up works great.
Smart move for the extra runtime! I was just thinking back to a few years ago when GoPro gimbals were popular and I thought they were super cool. 100% unnecessary now. I love it.
Tom, I have been doing skiing videos since I put a portable VHS deck in a backpack and connected a camera. I graduated to a VHS camcorder and Hi8 camera and then my android phone. Now after all these years (and watching a couple hours of you and David M) I bought my 1st ACTION CAMERA GoPro 10. :) Thanks for the great explanation and demostrations. I will be looking for tips and tricks now that I have joined the EcoSystem. THANKS
First time I've watched one of your videos, and I just wanted to say how much I love your studio set up. Colors, lighting, depth of field, it all looks great.
I bought long time ago when GoPro Hero 2 came on the market. i bought all kinds of accessories it had, including the accessory that hold on the chest for my salmon steelhead fishing in British Columbia. I did not use it for a long time, even when I bought it. Almost new condition. I see it had 10 version and its look cute and as he said perfect one. I just take out the camera and the body became more sticky. I bought a Canon camera with accessories, but going outside making videos have to carry all accessories, but GoPro is excellent for street vlogging and outdoor activities, because of light weight and compact.
Prior to getting my Hero 10, I was using a Hero 4 Black Edition, and I agree with you that the deficiencies in prior versions were all addressed with Hero 10. I was also using a DJI Osmo 4K because of the stabilization, but that camera and lens had its limitations too. Needless to say, I'm very happy with the 10 and looking forward to using it. Thanks!
I was really surprised how good the image is in the 10. I thought smushing more resolution and doubling frame rates but not increasing the sensor would destroy the image but the new processor has proven that wrong. I'd still like a bigger sensor a 1" sensor but I love how the 10 turned out.
@@tombuck 4K60 linear is decent as long as you have good light. It is my current default for tripod mounted or with hypersmooth on. The default mounted was close, I usually just need to switch the lens to linear for any of their preset modes which is an added feature since it first cam out and a significant one.
I’ll be honest I’ve watched a lot of hero 10 videos and yours is the most thorough and the most informative and entertaining experience ever, thank u tom!
Thank you Louis! The 10 is so good! The others also have their strong points but I’ve loved the evolution of the cameras. Haven’t gotten the Media Mod or anything yet though.
@@tombuck yeah it gave me a similar feeling with my story I've owned multiple go pro's and its insane the growth honestly the 7 was my favourite I got it twice after breaking it the first time XD
So, for an action camera, it works.. nice enough. As a videographer, the main thing I dislike from the gopro10 is the "linear" mode. It just crops out the frame, but stretches the image as the wide lens is the only one working. Also, consider no more than 1,5 hours for battery duration.
I just love the way you talk about stuff. Very informative yet fun to watch. I was very hesitant to get my very first GoPro but I think you may have change my mind… I’ll probably get the hero 10!
Thanks for such kind words! I really enjoy this camera and it works great for me. Just be sure to get it from somewhere with a good return policy so that way you have a plan in case you don't like it for some reason.
I returned my hero 10 yesterday. At 4k 60fps in 40mph wind strapped to my helmet, media mod, and lav mic, I could only get max of 15 mins recording before it overheated. Garbo. Im looking into this now. How long can you vlog with this, and does it overheat? I need a cam I can shoot one hr of 4k 60fps. My motovlog is on a serious pause rn. Forgot to mention the fact the cam randomly turns on at night with wireless connections OFF, and drains your battery.
I haven't used the Sony personally, so I can't say but I've been very happy with the audio form the 10 (as long as you don't accidentally cover the mic with your finger 🤦🏻♂️)
I've been looking at buying my first go pro and was looking at the 9. Was on the fence about just jumping straight to 10 but I think your video helped me with the deciding factor. Thank you.
Thanks showing this honest and in depth review Tom. Just a little thing is that the later Model Sony Cameras can also be connected via USB-C to Ecamm Live (like the GoPro 10) without any go between software (so the Sony Imaging Edge is not needed) and works very good.... thus freeing hdmi ports on the Atem Mini.
I've seen that, especially with the ZV-E10! I think this is absolutely awesome. I've heard complaints that it's limited to 720p over USB, but a Sony mirrorless at 720p is going to look better than a GoPro or other webcam at 1080/4K.
My Hero10 is amazing, but it overheated like crazy with the media mod , too much extra housing I think. I do push it a bit with 4k 60fps so that could be a problem too.
@@tombuck wow thanks for responding! I didnt expect the big dog to be watching! While it was great overall camera and amazing image quality, I took the L and sold it early hoping to catch the next revision since it didnt meet my needs for long streams without shutdowns. Still recommend for most people! Also nice streaming room and setup btw.
I got my GoPro Hero 9 in a great price bundle at Costco. The week before the Hero 10 was announced. Story. Of. My. Life. The 9 is awesome, and looks like I'm not missing anything essential to my life. As a lav mic user, I now feel validated as you used one in this video 😎
I'm trying to build up my lav skills (very different than other mics), but I really needed it for this video since I know I'd be turning away from a regularly positioned mic and the audio would be all over the place. I'm usually the guy who ends up with "last generation" stuff, so I'm always excited when I get the latest and greatest while it's actually late and great. Or I guess not late...because it's current 🤔
@@tombuck The video was awesome showing the design and camera improvements from the original. I will "borrow" this idea when I get my iPhone 13 Pro in a few weeks and do a look back with iPhone, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 13.
Many people who have the 9 are not upgrading to the 10 because of overheating. Small Sony cameras overheating have burned me for several camera models. Overheating is a big deal.
Hi Tom, great review! If you would like to get a new waterhousing clip for your old GoPro - we are more than happy to provide. Just send us your courier to Poland ;) Cheers!
I am also waiting for my new purchase to arrive along with quite a few of the accessories including the Modmount , extra screen and a few lights to help when it’s dark outside, as my last video the light levels were crap and my only light source was two head torches strapped to various objects lol
Don't know if anybody posted this tip in the comments, but there is a trick that works great on every gopro up to the 10 for the problem he mentioned about water spots and raindrops . Give the lens a big lick with your tongue then rinse it off. it will now be hydrophobic just like the 10. the lens will shed water and no spots or raindrops. so many people do this that gopro issued a statement asking people not to lick the lens of the gopro 10 since it has hydrophobic coating and you might lick the coating off.....
Thanks Shawn! It's kind of fun to look back at all that stuff. I can't tell you how excited I was to get that first GoPro. I had no idea what to film with it, but I was psyched!
Great video, Tom. Sorry you broke your case. Anyway, you probably know about this by now, but GoPro released not long ago the Volta Grip. It has an internal battery that extends shooting time. To I believe, the equivalent of 3 batteries. It might be 4, not sure. But that shooting time means that you have to have a fully charged camera batter as well. So for long shoots like time lapse, you’re good to go.
I took a GoPro 10 scuba diving in Brazil just over a month ago. After the dive (approx 20 feet down) I tried taking it out of the orange floaty case, and the back screen cracked. It is a great camera, but this seems to be a common problem with some GoPro 10 owners.
@@tombuck The orange floaty case for GoPro 9 and 10 are open to the water, but I still think air pressure from diving must have made it weak somehow. But its a crack running along the edge of the side, so the screen is still clear to look at.
Hero 6 was my least favourite GoPro, the 7 is a gem, the session was super handy and keep wanting them to bring it back. I still use the 7 every time I go wing foiling
Wow, what a great and fun 20 min that I spent watching you, I don't even consider it a review, it was just a fun conversation to watch. I learned a lot about the history of GOPRO, which I am just getting into because of my motorcycle. I do not own any GOPRO, they have always been out of my budget, but I have been looking at a used Hero 7, which I now know was the first to include that hyper smooth stabilization. It was fun watching all the editing cuts you did, watching your studio, all the fun fancy and expensive gadgets that you have, stuff I can only dream about, it was a cool time, I have subscribed to your channel and am looking forward watching some of your other videos. The only thing I could tell you to be aware of is, that at on my HP laptop I was using to watch this video, your highlights were almost clipping, the scene was just too bright, and it also looked like it was over processed, over sharpen, it wasn't pleasant to my eyes. Also, when you switched to the GOPRO 10 Audio, you sounded a lot better than the rest of the audio with the clip-on microphone, which made you sound compressed, digital, inside a box, not natural... but with the GOPRO you sounded live, whole, natural, just more immersive. I hope that helps, take care. I checked out that guy you mentioned David Manning, opposite to you, his video looked too dark and flat. He did a more technical review on the new features of the 10, but it was not as enjoyable, his voice is a bit annoying, I wasn't left with the urge to go see any more of his videos.
Thanks so much for the kind words! It really means a lot to hear this! And thanks for the feedback, it's always helpful to know how things look/sound on other people's systems 👍
OK this video has basically saved me! I need a wide angle cam so I have the option of switching to a 'full room view' when streaming, and was about to order the gopro 10 today! BUT, now realising there is **NO** HDMI out (to send into an ATEM mini) or dedicated power-in is an absolute deal breaker. 😤 Huge thanks Tom for saving me from finding this out the hard way - phew! Having taken your comments on board I will now investigate the hero 9 vs a cheaper-end sony vlog camera option for a room view. Thanks again Tom - another great video, as always 👍
Glad it helped! I'm still using my Hero 7 for a full room stream view, but I do like using the 10 as a video source by plugging it in via USB C. It shows up as a separate video source in Ecamm, which is actually pretty cool.
Just get the media mod since you are not using it outdoors. You can also add a Rode microphone too. Even a cheap Rode beats built-in units for how you are using case.
Oh man, I always like action cameras but have a hard time to find a use for them. But this looks like a solid buy for sure 👌🏼 Also, the dad jokes in this video is off the charts! 😂
Unrelated but what's that little pop filter I see on the Podmic in front of your curved monitor? 👀 Been looking for something like that for both the Procaster and Podmic - the BWS repop is unbelievably expensive once shipped to Australia, like almost $200 🤣
There's actually a super cool story behind it! Steve and Tommy (a father/son duo) from the Smarthome Riggs RUclips channel sent it to me. They got the PodMic based on my review but didn't want to cover it up with a foam windscreen and instead found a way to 3D print a custom clip on pop filter that works great!
Great video! I have been planing to buy a GoPro to use recording our podcast but I have heard that the overheat. Our episodes are up to two hours long but I have seen you using one as a dog camera and I think you have placed one high up recording the entire room. But what is your settings so they do not overheat?
I've been doing everything in 5K just for fun, with no issues. 4K should be good for long form recording, but if you're recording into your computer via USB, then you can pretty much run the camera indefinitely. I learned that you can remove the battery and still power it via USB.
The gopro 10 is pretty great for the price, but "practically perfect" is a little far, one thing I would like to see improved is low light recording, better sensor with less noise during low light would practically make the gopro 10 the king of affordable action cameras, and would be a lot more usable for things like vlogging and more.
Agree, nowhere near perfect. A 1 inch sensor would absolutely destroy Gopro 10, but might have to be slightly larger to have a decent battery length. Sony made the RX0 but it’s autofocus is atrocious and it’s so so hard to use. When you do take a decent photo on it, it absolutely destroys Gopro
I too, am still rocking my Hero 7... haven't upgraded... YET!!... I will definitely be upgrading to the 10... only when it's on sale... Boxing Day sale hopefully. The only thing that really frustrates me with my Hero 7 is always having to put in and take out the GoPro of that stupid cage... I knew the 10 is a bigger size than the 7... but never thought about the fact that the size would be same pretty much the same with the Hero 7 in the cage. Thanks for that. What REALLY appeals to me with the 10 is the 23mp pictures... I love the shots in the surf... the shots look epic.. This is solely the main reason I want to upgrade... along with minus the cage.
I think you'll really like it then- the cage drives crazy too (despite all my rage I'm still just a cam in a cage?) and not needing to worry about it is awesome. Plus you can change the battery/SD card while the camera is mounted 👍
Iam trying to know if the gopro 8 still as the preview on smartphone while recording because gopro 9 and 10 dont have it anymore.I think 7 still as it but i would like better quality like the 8. But i need this feature to be able to use my phone as a monitor while recording
are there different levels of hypersmooth? i film a lot of pov snowboarding. my 7 is great, no shakey jitters, but still smooth and natural movements. i dont want it to be smooth and look like its locked on rails with my body moving and turning, and the camera just staying plain
@@tombuck thanks! Just what I needed to hear. It’s like comparing a movie that’s filmed with extreme jittery shakey cam that hurts your eyes, versus a movie being filmed hand held with natural motion but doesn’t make you sick, versus a movie only filmed on cranes and tripods and dollys. It’s more immersive when you still have some of it those natural movements
Any recommended/preferred screen protectors for the front and back? GoPro only seems to sell them for older models, and the ones available on Amazon have underwhelming reviews.
Great video Tom...bonus point for using a Spinal Tap reference at 8:40!!! I have to ask about something in the background tho'...what are you using for a pop filter on your podmic??? (I know...totally off-topic for the video but, that's just me!!! LOL)
Really they're totally different. The Image quality is great and you can definitely mix footage when done so with intention, but there's just not an action cam on the planet that will compare to a full frame camera with a fast prime lens. The GoPro is an outstanding supplement to my "main" camera 👍
Hey Tom! Just a suggestion about the webcam mode! I use a Hero 9 in webcam mode, but I purposefully removed the battery since it would overheat and trickle down. It works fine without the battery for that, so maybe try the 10 that way!
Hi Tom, 1) Can the GoPro 10 be used as a wide-angle webcam with Zoom? 2) With the Media Mod attached does the GoPro 10 have clean HDMI output and can it be connected into an ATEM Mini Pro to allow for switching between multiple cameras during a Zoom meeting? 3) Finally, if using the GoPro 10 as a Zoom webcam for several hours without recording, would overheating still be an issue?
Hey BB! 1. Yes! Via the webcam app, it'll show up in Zoom. 2. Yes! The Media Mod will give clean HDMI out. 3. Maybe! It won't overheat, but I'm seeing the camera's battery drain when connected as a webcam via USB. If you're using the Media Mod and HDMI, then you should be able to connect USB power while HDMI is running and have _unlimited power_ !
I have the 5 & 7! Used themalso for biking and kayaking! Watching this video made me want to upgrade to 10! Also great to see YoloBox Pro as a monitor in action! Haha
I think that your GoPro battery drawing while streaming is the cord you used or something because I have the hero 9 and it doesn’t lose battery while I stream
First of all your review is top notch . I need some information about sticky rubber , have i hear you clearly you mentioned to clean it with white spirit ? Thanks from malta
Ahh yes! Isopropyl alcohol does wonders. Just whatever kind you can get from the drug store or grocery store. I usually use an alcohol wipe too and then just spend some time rubbing the sticky parts away. It can take quite a bit of time, but eventually you'll see the residue start to peel/move away. Certain items are easier than others too.
WHOA… that first old old GoPro!!! Never seen one of those! Dude, great job on the historical aspect of video, AGAIN. I think historical video essays are kinda your thing!! (or one of you things lol)
Do you have an editing software for GoPro 10 videos to use on a laptop that you recommend? Easy to use, some filter settings to soften faces and add music or voice-over?
Probably a stupid question, but when you're using the GoPro as a wide-angle in the corner of the room, do you just connect it to the ATEM using a really long HDMI cable, or do you have some wireless solution?
Thanks for the reply @@tombuck - I've been considering setting up a wide-angle camera, but I was a bit hesitant to use a long cable because I though the longer they were, the worse the quality of signal?
I heard a rumor that it had something to do with the patent for the technology being owned by another company. I don't know if it's true or not, but it would explain an otherwise baffling choice.
I’m new to go pros and starting with a 7 cause my daughter didn’t want it but I’m trying to set up to film my dogs training. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated
Oh wow, I can't even imagine the transition! Even going from the 7 to the 10 was a big change, and the 7 was great! hopefully you enjoy and get a lot of use out of the new camera!
Ahh, the 5 is such a great camera! you're right about the audio. I don't know if it really shines in this video specifically, but in other things I've done with it, it _really_ sounds like I have a video mic connected or something.
@@tombuck The one problem I have is it is good at picking up everything and I want to also limit the sound and it had no jack or mount without the media mod which blocks the battery slot and uses the USB one to do all its interfacing with the camera.
I'm using a usb-c cable without the battery and the camera works as a webcam so maybe even though the battery drains while using, you shouldn't have a problem keep using it the whole day as a webcam, (just thoughts) Great Video By the way!
Perfect? Not realy..... Finally the Hero 10 is the first Gopro wich can reconnect without beeing out of sync and then is the stream running only in 360P ?????? GOPRO SERIOUSLY????
I use an action camera in long term settings for hiking and hunting. However, GoPro 10/9/8 overheats after just 20 to 30 minutes. Which renders it useless in those scenarios of long term recording.
You've got the real-world experience, so you've gotta use the tool that works with you. But from what I've experienced/understand a lot of the overheating depends on resolution and movement (i.e. if the camera is sitting stationary vs. being on something like a bike).
@@edselharrison interesting, if your using the 5.3k for long periods of time that could affect the overheating. GoPro also released the Enduro battery that it supposed to help with overheating and increase battery life.
Do you know if the gopro 8 still as the preview on iphone while recording because the 9 and the 10 dont have this feature anymore. And that why i wont get the 9 or 10.
Hey Tom! I did watch the SM7V video, I just wanted to ask before I forget. I’ll watch it again later, busy busy. Can you record with the XLR and the usb at the same time? Thank you sir!
Brilliant review mate. I keep seeing different opinions on this question if you can help. When recording are you able to see yourself on the viewfinder? Videos I’ve saw sounded as though the preview disappears once you press record.
On the camera: yes. On the app: no. It's a silly reason that has to do with some sort of patent or trademakr claim, so they had to disable teh recording view on the app, but you can always see yourself on the camera's actual displays.
Yeah, I've been making a lot more videos for personal projects and "just for fun" and use this almost exclusively because it's so simple. It's never let me down yet.
What about the Hero4? Can it sill be viable? Found one with a full accessory kit (two monitors, light bar,, batteries, charger, etc and case for 150.00) useful or useless? Just want it for studio overview shots).
It's really similar to the 3+ that I showed in the video, so a very capable camera with nice image quality, but will rely heavily on the app to dive in and change things. If you don't mind using the app, then it could be a ton of fun!
Hi Tom, I watched your video on the GoPro Hero 10 today 12th January 2022 only 12 hours after hovering my finger over the buy button on the GoPro website for a gruelling 35 minutes saying to myself “ should I buy it, will it be any good, it’s a lot of money with all the accessories I needed including some spare batteries ?, will this be better than my GoPro Hero 7 Black edition or my previous GoPro Hero 3+ which got ruined by my son who went snorkelling and didn’t realise it was only waterproof whilst in the protective case” My gut feeling after watching multiple other reviews, some bad and some good, I was having mixed feelings over whether this was the right camera for me who is just starting out in the world of becoming a RUclips content creator and after pressing yes on the buy button, my stomach churned like when you have that butterflies in your tummy feeling and my head was like “ what have you done ? OMG what if this is a mistake?” But after watching your video this morning, I am much calmer and happy with my spontaneous purchase and l wish to thank you for such an honest and grounded review that put my mind to rest. I am also trying to offer that grounded type of review for people as there are so many mixed reviews of products these days, you watch and feel no wiser than before you wasted x minutes of your life that you will never get back Lol Anyway I have subscribe to your channel as there are a few other things I noticed while watching this video that I am sure you have created a perfect review, just like the perfect review of the GoPro10 Thanks again Paul from “Pauls Travels & Reviews”
Thanks Paul! I really hope you enjoy your camera. Regardless what any review says, it ultimately comes down to how it works for YOU specifically. I really love this one though and have enjoyed it so much. It's also important to remember that people love to complain about things, and negativity tends to get more clicks than positivity. I'm sure you'll do some really great stuff with the GoPro!
@@tombuck I hope so too Tom, currently I am just using the iPhone 12 Pro Max and achieving reasonable results, but action shots like slowing down a blade cutting some wood will hopefully be amazing and boost my videographer skills 🤔
Hi Tom, could you recommend a tripod that will support a teleprompter with a camera on it? I bought one from Best Buy and it collapses under the weight 😔
The Best Buy tripods are generally more basic. I do have links in my video descriptions for my tripod/head, but long story short, I really like Manfrotto stuff. It can seem expensive when you buy a good set of legs along with a good video head, but they'll pretty much last forever. My tripod is 10 years old and works like new.
@@tombuck Awesome. My media mod just arrived, so I’ll be checking that out later tonight. But the Hero 5 (that had USB-C and mini HDMI, (even with a adapter cable) didn’t seem to work. Wasn’t sure if there’s a setting I missed. Lol I’ll try it on the Hero 8, now that I got my Media Mod. Thanks again.
same sensor as 9. still 8-bit no room for CC. crap low light performance but at least it wont shut down or freeze... thats something but still FAR from perfection. Great informative video btw. thanks
When I say "perfect" I'm more talking about perfect for a small action camera that supplements my other gear. But so much does depend on individual needs/workflow too.
Thanks for the video - but I have a question. My move to Hero 10 has been very frustrating. I've had a 3,5,7,8 and now a 10. Now I admit I should have done more homework, but I've had to purchase a new SD, extra batteries, charger, etc. because none of my Hero 8 will work with it. I use Movavi to edit my videos and it has worked great for my Hero 7 and 8 videos. Today I shot my first videos with my Hero 10 mountain biking using the recommended settings by a number of RUclips reviewers, and now it appears that my one-year old notebook can't handle the 4k video or Movavi can't. I don't have and don't want to spend a lot on video editing software, so my only choice is to a Hero 10 and make it shoot like a Hero 8. What do you recommend.
Hmm, I'm bummed to hear you're having so many issues. I've never used Movavi, but it sounds like it's having trouble handling the codec from the 10. It could be your computer, but since you said you haven't had any issues with other cameras, I don't think it is. The easiest way to tell would be to try and put the footage in a different app and see how it works. You can download Davinci Resolve for free and give it a shot. If the footage plays back smoothly, then you'll know it's a Movavi issue. If it's still not working well, then you'll know it's your computer. And of course, if it is the computer and you were happy with the 8, it might be easier to just return the 10 and stick with what worked before. But I'd try and narrow down the issue first 👍
Hi Tom, well-crafted review for the GoPro 10. Also very nice that you include a number of predecessors in your review. I also used the GoPro Hero HD from 2011 very intensively. And actually, that camera would still be usable if I hadn't wanted to clean it myself this past month. The material on this GoPro Hero HD (2011) was getting a little sticky and I wanted to give that something a deep clean. But this camera has been used for more than ten years. Fortunately, I also have two GoPro Hero 7 Black that also work to my full satisfaction. But perhaps I will also expand my collection with the Gopro 10. I also film with a number of professional cameras, but I use them for specific film jobs. And the convenience of the GoPro is that I can always put it in a jacket or pocket and actually always have it with me. 🎦🎬🙏👍👋🍀
That rubbery finish getting sticky is really frustrating! Happens on a lot of things and I can't stand the way it feels (plus I've had it leave residue on stuff too).
Liking these longer videos a lot. Q: The song, how were you able to get the licensing? Q2: which slider are you using mostly, ifootage or edelkrone? And why? Q3: would you buy a jacuzzi again or not really? (Haha I couldn't contain myself).
1: It was on Epidemic Sound 🤷🏻♂️ 2: I've been using the iFootage almost exclusively now. But a lot of the b-roll here is handheld 120fps with the camera's stabilizer turned on. 3: We got our hot tub from Costco and it's been a total game changer. 10/10 would spa again. 😁
I guess the Google captions bot can't recognize a cello :) This is interesting! I have a GoPro5 session which I never liked. Might even give that a chance at some point. Relying on the GoPro app was always a drag with the app.
@@tombuck a friend of mine doing a saxophone lesson had a sentence on "Junk Cauldrons in Iranians" he was saying something about Funk Backgrounds I think 🙂
I have the GP 4 & 7, I use it for Skydiving 🪂 and scuba diving 🤿 I think the camera is awesome. I was bummed the battery changed between those two models. I want the GP 10 ,I wonder if they are going do the trade in program again. I would trade my GoPro 4 to upgrade to the 10, also do you need the case for the Deeper diving than 30 ft on the 10
I heard about the trade in program but forgot about it! That would definitely be a cool option. And good point- more than 30ft needs the housing (I'm just way too much of a scaredy cat to go that deep 😁 )
Ohh, that is a nice feature!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. 🙌
Helped us make the decision to get the GoPro 10. 🙌
thats cool
Overheating after 10-15mins is one thing. The fact that GoPro has stated it is not going to do anything about it, makes not want to buy it.
I think the Hero8 and DJI Osmo Action are cheaper, good alternatives available.
I don’t know if they’re ignoring the problem by not doing anything, I think it’s more a limitation of trying to have a 5k camera in a tiny waterproof housing 🤷🏻♂️
@@tombuck that is something which puzzles me. Why have 5.7k? Maybe I am stupid but I have trouble understanding why it is needed.
do you know if the gopro 8 still as iphone preview while recording? because the 9 and the 10 dont have it anymore
I don't think there is any other action Cam in its size that can record at such high quality for any longer time lengths. I think for an action cam it has the longest record times before over heating at such a high vidoe quality.
I would only consider the 7 and 9. The 7 if you don't need the front screen, the 9 if you do.
I turn off GPS and I do not pair it with my phone, I have LEDs all off, i do use voice commands, auto off is set to never, screensaver is turned off, video format is set to NTSC (despite being in a PAL region)
I colour correct using DaVinci resolve and it works great. I shot in 2-7K but downsampled it to 1080p on the video output and it looks just great!!
In my opinion most of the problems surrounding these action cameras arise from improper use. Most people want to shoot at 4/5 K with a high FPS with very little proper ventilation. for extended amounts of time
DO NOT DO THIS!!!!
If you purchase this camera make sure you buy a PROPER SD CARD i use a Sandisk 128 GbV30 u3 A2 and i have no issues with freezing or overheating at all.
I also purchased a couple of extra batteries complete with a charger via USB (Artman from amazon)
Do not use this for talking heads vlogging at 4K and the highest FPS it will overheat !!
I thoroughly recommend this camera i got mine down at MPB in the UK great value at around £150 i bought a chest mount and mounting case and it all works perfectly
I've been here since the MP Mini Delta video days, and man your production quality has improved! Cool to see the progression.
PS: oh and my buddy also says NOT to worry re: any of those vloggers complaining about "overheating"
he says it will in fact be updated in the firmware - coming out soon.
AND that it's only overheating when it's just sitting there in someone's office - which is NOT for the intended purpose -- which is:
Jumping out of planes, and biking, and going FAST -- outside -- where it gets PLENTY of wind and airflow = where the overheating is not an issue at all.
soooo -- hopefully that update helps anyone who came across a stupid overheating video thinking they shouldn't get the GoPRo 10 b/c of this.
HAHAHAA and i already replayed the 0:29 section

Haha, thank you! I always take the disclosure part so seriously that this made me laugh really hard. And yes, the 10 is awesome! I'm 100% not worried about overheating, but I know that it can be an issue for some people.
With things like this specifically, it sometimes feels like many people want to find only the negative. This isn't a cinema camera- it's a GoPro and it's a _really_ good GoPro.
@@tombuck YESSS!!! exactly!

A-to-the-men!
Thanks for sharing such a thorough and HONEST Review of this brand new / next Gen GoPro
You ROCK!
It's pretty impressive and the audio is super usable! Definitely a worthwhile addition to a kit.
I really wish better digital cameras were around when I got married. Our camera of 2008/2009 was rough.
THANKS
Nice! I'm so glad it was helpful and I hope you really enjoy your camera! You can also still do some cool stuff with those old analog cameras too 👍
First time I've watched one of your videos, and I just wanted to say how much I love your studio set up. Colors, lighting, depth of field, it all looks great.
THANK YOU! It really means a lot to hear this. 🙏
It helps to have several $3k+ cameras but you still need to set them of right.
Depending on how sticky your old camera is, the isopropyl alcohol trick might help remove the residue. It's definitely saved me a few times.
Thanks!
Going to the 10 form the 4 is a HUGE leap! Glad you're liking it 👍
Speaking of DJI, which newer models can mount a GoPro. I have seen the footage and hypersmooth works great on one.
I was really surprised how good the image is in the 10. I thought smushing more resolution and doubling frame rates but not increasing the sensor would destroy the image but the new processor has proven that wrong. I'd still like a bigger sensor a 1" sensor but I love how the 10 turned out.
Bigger sensors are always great, but I'm very happy with the image quality on this overall.
@@tombuck yeah it gave me a similar feeling with my story I've owned multiple go pro's and its insane the growth honestly the 7 was my favourite I got it twice after breaking it the first time XD
agree with those on your studio setup. I'm in awe of how great it looks.
Wow, thank you so much! That's super rewarding to hear! It's taken a while, but I'm pretty happy with it now.
Just be sure to get it from somewhere with a good return policy so that way you have a plan in case you don't like it for some reason.
going from my entry level Hero 2014 to the H7B (the one where you cant remove it from the case, like, at all) was such a leap, it was awesome
They really have come a long ways!
SOB, clearly I need the 10 now so I can use it 3 times. Good job Tom! Loved the shots using all the older pros leading up to the 10.
Haha, thanks! It's fun to see the evolution 😁
Nice Video.
Which audio do you think is better. Go Pro 10 or Sony FDR X3000 ????
I haven't used the Sony personally, so I can't say but I've been very happy with the audio form the 10 (as long as you don't accidentally cover the mic with your finger 🤦🏻♂️)
I've been looking at buying my first go pro and was looking at the 9. Was on the fence about just jumping straight to 10 but I think your video helped me with the deciding factor. Thank you.
If you're jumping in from scratch, I definitely recommend the 10 for both the better stabilization and improved processor.
@@tombuck I appreciate your insight thank you again!
haha how good is that intro. "because I'm awesome" haha love it bro.
Wow, one of the best reviews I've ever seen, cheers mate!!
Thank you! It really means a lot to hear that!
@@tombuck Thank You!
It was really smart to add built-in WiFi, Bluetooth would be too slow for 4K on the app.
A lot of people saying this is not that good. Got mine and absolutely love it. It is insanely good 👍✌️. Can’t see how they will make this any better
I think people love to hate on GoPros specifically for whatever reason, but this is a great camera! I’m glad you’re enjoying yours 👍
08:39 you have to appreciate someone who drops a Spinal Tap reference, but doesn’t call attention to it being a Spinal Tap reference.
My Hero10 is amazing, but it overheated like crazy with the media mod , too much extra housing I think. I do push it a bit with 4k 60fps so that could be a problem too.
Interesting! I haven’t tried the Media Mod yet, but that would definitely be a problem is if causes it to overheat.
I will "borrow" this idea when I get my iPhone 13 Pro in a few weeks and do a look back with iPhone, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 13.
did you find a solution for the lack of preview on smartphone while recording?
Many people who have the 9 are not upgrading to the 10 because of overheating. Small Sony cameras overheating have burned me for several camera models. Overheating is a big deal.
Hi Tom, great review! If you would like to get a new waterhousing clip for your old GoPro - we are more than happy to provide. Just send us your courier to Poland ;) Cheers!
A goPro in Poland = "GoPoland" 😁
GoPoland 😃
Incredible video, answered all my questions. I’m waiting for my 10 to arrive after owning a 5 and a 2. So this was really helpful once again.
It'll be a huge step up, I'm sure you'll love it!
I actually saw the "no licking" warning in some of the 10's manuals, but it definitely worked on the older models 😁
Great review Tom. Loved trip down memory lane where you showed your old GoPros. 😎
Thanks Shawn! It's kind of fun to look back at all that stuff. I can't tell you how excited I was to get that first GoPro. I had no idea what to film with it, but I was psyched!
Wow your video quality (both picture and content) is so beautiful that I just subbed before exploring your channel!
Thanks Ryan! I really appreciate that! I try to make each video a little better than the last 👍
The breaking the case case instantly earned this video a like from me
My heart 💔
Great video, Tom. Sorry you broke your case. Anyway, you probably know about this by now, but GoPro released not long ago the Volta Grip. It has an internal battery that extends shooting time. To I believe, the equivalent of 3 batteries. It might be 4, not sure. But that shooting time means that you have to have a fully charged camera batter as well. So for long shoots like time lapse, you’re good to go.
I saw some videos about that grip and it seems pretty nifty! Definitely solves a lot of battery problems.
I took a GoPro 10 scuba diving in Brazil just over a month ago. After the dive (approx 20 feet down) I tried taking it out of the orange floaty case, and the back screen cracked. It is a great camera, but this seems to be a common problem with some GoPro 10 owners.
Interesting. I haven't heard of this, but I also haven't gone diving with it either. Seems like the case did something strange with air pressure?
@@tombuck The orange floaty case for GoPro 9 and 10 are open to the water, but I still think air pressure from diving must have made it weak somehow. But its a crack running along the edge of the side, so the screen is still clear to look at.
Loved my GoPro 10. Just bought one and the quality of the shots are Amazing and addictive to watch. lol!
It's such a fun camera to use! That alone has made me use it more than I used to with my older ones.
Hero 6 was my least favourite GoPro, the 7 is a gem, the session was super handy and keep wanting them to bring it back. I still use the 7 every time I go wing foiling
I remember when the 6 came out it just didn't seem that interesting or like that much or an upgrade over the 5. The 7 was awesome though!
03:00 what kind of Isopropyl Alcohol did you use? How many percentages? did you use a soft dry cloth?
Just the standard kind from any drug store. I used an alcohol wipe with it to “double up” the power 🤷🏻♂️
Got gifted one of these for Christmas, an upgrade from my GoPro 2!!
That's quite the upgrade! Hope you're really liking it!
That hyper smooth stabilization looks NICE! Makes such a difference!!
It's really impressive! The 7 was good, but this is a whole different level.
Huge thanks Tom for saving me from finding this out the hard way - phew!
But this looks like a solid buy for sure 👌🏼
Also, the dad jokes in this video is off the charts! 😂
I feel like if there's anyone who can think of creative used for action cams, it's you 😉
There are plenty of things u can use it for
Very convincing review + interesting personal exp with older models
It was definitely a fun trip back in time 😁
Thanks for the GoPro retrospective, Tom! Love what you did there 6:43 - 6:51! 💙💙💙
That was a very happy accident I discovered while editing 😁
Unrelated but what's that little pop filter I see on the Podmic in front of your curved monitor? 👀 Been looking for something like that for both the Procaster and Podmic - the BWS repop is unbelievably expensive once shipped to Australia, like almost $200 🤣
There's actually a super cool story behind it! Steve and Tommy (a father/son duo) from the Smarthome Riggs RUclips channel sent it to me. They got the PodMic based on my review but didn't want to cover it up with a foam windscreen and instead found a way to 3D print a custom clip on pop filter that works great!
Glad you liked it. Happy to share the info with you, or you can reach out to Tom (as I sent it all to him earlier tonight, in case anyone else asked).
Thanks again for the generous shout out Tom. You're a true gentleman.

Tom, great video! very informative, I have the GoPro hero 9 and still understanding all the great benefits of it! Thanks for the history lesson!
There's a lot to learn! I've never used my GoPros to their fullest potential, so I'm trying to do that more with this one!
Thanks for the very informative video.
I just subscribed and thumb up now.
Glad you're here and happy that the video was helpful!
@@tombuck Thank you!
Only the 10 overheats. Yes, overheating has made all my Sony RX100s useless for video.
Great how positively you explained the lack of HDMI output. But yes it annoys that it lacks HDMI output.
I would definitely love to have the option!
The gopro 10 is pretty great for the price, but "practically perfect" is a little far, one thing I would like to see improved is low light recording,
better sensor with less noise during low light would practically make the gopro 10 the king of affordable action cameras, and would be a lot more usable for things like vlogging and more.
The cam cant even record in 4k 60fps ...in 40mph wind... longer than 15 mins before overheating. All the positive stories came right out of WINTER.
@@abundantharmony I have most been using 4K60 Linear and it gets warm but has never shutdown, even indoors.
Nice setup and lighting, rare on YT. Congrats!
Thank you!
are there different levels of hypersmooth? i film a lot of pov snowboarding. my 7 is great, no shakey jitters, but still smooth and natural movements. i dont want it to be smooth and look like its locked on rails with my body moving and turning, and the camera just staying plain
Yeah, there’s “off” “basic” and “extreme” (I don’t know if those are the official names, but that’s what I call them).
These are the ones that I got for the 10 and they work great: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09BQ2JFB9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
@@tombuck Perfect, thanks!
Great video thanks mate from Australia
I appreciate that! Thanks form the U.S.!
Great video Tom...bonus point for using a Spinal Tap reference at 8:40!!! I have to ask about something in the background tho'...what are you using for a pop filter on your podmic??? (I know...totally off-topic for the video but, that's just me!!! LOL)
It's a 3D printed one that was sent to my from the Smarthome Riggs YT channel 👍
How do you think this compares to your Sony and Sigma 24mm lenses? Will you change which cameras you use and where you use them?
Really they're totally different. The Image quality is great and you can definitely mix footage when done so with intention, but there's just not an action cam on the planet that will compare to a full frame camera with a fast prime lens. The GoPro is an outstanding supplement to my "main" camera 👍
Tom would a USBC to Hdmi cord work?
I honestly don't know. I haven't had good luck with cables like that in the past, but it'd be great if it turned out to be an option 😎
That tree shot in the intro 😍
I was very happy with it, which is why it ended up being the opener 😁
@@tombuck great choice!
Hey Tom! Just a suggestion about the webcam mode! I use a Hero 9 in webcam mode, but I purposefully removed the battery since it would overheat and trickle down. It works fine without the battery for that, so maybe try the 10 that way!
Really?! I’ll have to give this a try, thank you!
@@tombuck yeah, it works. I saw it in another review from a guy that is more into GoPro than the high-end DSLR cameras you are used to using.
Haha
It was such a lifesaver in this video to make sure that all of the closeups were in focus when I needed them 🙏
I think that your GoPro battery drawing while streaming is the cord you used or something because I have the hero 9 and it doesn’t lose battery while I stream
I learned that you can take the battery out while streaming and it’ll work fine solely from the USB cable 👍
A fun spin on stuff!
Do you have an editing software for GoPro 10 videos to use on a laptop that you recommend? Easy to use, some filter settings to soften faces and add music or voice-over?
I use Final Cut Pro, but iMovie is great (and free). DaVinci Resolve also has a good free option as well 👍
Probably a stupid question, but when you're using the GoPro as a wide-angle in the corner of the room, do you just connect it to the ATEM using a really long HDMI cable, or do you have some wireless solution?
Not a stupid question at all! I usually just use a long cable, but I do have a Hollyland wireless unit that I sometimes use.
Thanks for the reply @@tombuck - I've been considering setting up a wide-angle camera, but I was a bit hesitant to use a long cable because I though the longer they were, the worse the quality of signal?
Nice review, thank you.
I just upgraded from Hero5 and I really don't understand why 10 can't have live preview in Quik app during recording??!
I heard a rumor that it had something to do with the patent for the technology being owned by another company. I don't know if it's true or not, but it would explain an otherwise baffling choice.
@@tombuck Maybe but it doesn't make sense since it work on older models (up to Hero8 I think).
I’m new to go pros and starting with a 7 cause my daughter didn’t want it but I’m trying to set up to film my dogs training. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated
GoPros love light, so the more light as you can use it with the better. 👍
Other than that, it's meant to be simple and easy to use.
Hey, I am coming from an old (and rather disused) Hero 2. The new 10 I have just received is UNREAL!
Oh wow, I can't even imagine the transition! Even going from the 7 to the 10 was a big change, and the 7 was great! hopefully you enjoy and get a lot of use out of the new camera!
I still rock my 5. Lives with me at all times basically. I love it to death. That being said, the 10 is VERY temping. The audio is surprisingly good
Ahh, the 5 is such a great camera! you're right about the audio.
I'm using a usb-c cable without the battery and the camera works as a webcam so maybe even though the battery drains while using, you shouldn't have a problem keep using it the whole day as a webcam, (just thoughts)
Great Video By the way!
Thank you! I figured this out the other day and now it works great as a webcam for pretty much an unlimited amount of time 👍
Have you tried to output video using an USB-C/HDMI adapter like those used on newer notebooks?
I haven't had any luck getting HDMI output via USB C. There might be an adapter out there somewhere that works, but I haven't found it.
Perfect? Not realy..... Finally the Hero 10 is the first Gopro wich can reconnect without beeing
out of sync and then is the stream running only in 360P ?????? GOPRO
SERIOUSLY????
I use an action camera in long term settings for hiking and hunting. However, GoPro 10/9/8 overheats after just 20 to 30 minutes. Which renders it useless in those scenarios of long term recording.
You've got the real-world experience, so you've gotta use the tool that works with you. But from what I've experienced/understand a lot of the overheating depends on resolution and movement (i.e. if the camera is sitting stationary vs. being on something like a bike).
Remove the battery and use a powerbank to run it
Are you running it at high frame rates?
No, just 30fps.
@@edselharrison interesting, if your using the 5.3k for long periods of time that could affect the overheating. GoPro also released the Enduro battery that it supposed to help with overheating and increase battery life.
Bought the hero 10 recently. The other GoPro I have is the 5……so this recent one is an upgrade!!!
Definitely a huge step up!
(But the 5 is really great)
This answered all of my questions! Still on the Hero 3 plus!
It's still a great camera! I just hate using the app so much 😁
Do you know if the gopro 8 still as the preview on iphone while recording because the 9 and the 10 dont have this feature anymore. And that why i wont get the 9 or 10.
I’m not sure, but what I heard was that it was a goofy trademark issue and they had to disable it.
Hey Tom! I did watch the SM7V video, I just wanted to ask before I forget. I’ll watch it again later, busy busy. Can you record with the XLR and the usb at the same time? Thank you sir!
Yes you can! Which is super cool 👍
@@tombuck thank you sir! I forgot to reply back, I ended up watching our review again 😁
@@tombuck awesome thanks for the quick response. It does seem a silly issue but as long as you can see on the camera I’m good 😊.
Im keeping my 7....it small light and stabilizer aren't that bad and so tempting if I should let go my 9 snd get the 10
The 7 is awesome! I still use mine all the time and love it.
03:00 ELBOW GREASE, just to make sure you meant "hard work" and not an actual substance of elbows/hands cream, right ?
I had to special order it- made from real elbows!
Never regretted my purchase, and I do long walking videos too with it
Yeah, I've been making a lot more videos for personal projects and "just for fun" and use this almost exclusively because it's so simple.
Hi Tom,
I watched your video on the GoPro Hero 10 today 12th January 2022 only 12 hours after hovering my finger over the buy button on the GoPro website for a gruelling 35 minutes saying to myself “ should I buy it, will it be any good, it’s a lot of money with all the accessories I needed including some spare batteries ?, will this be better than my GoPro Hero 7 Black edition or my previous GoPro Hero 3+ which got ruined by my son who went snorkelling and didn’t realise it was only waterproof whilst in the protective case”
My gut feeling after watching multiple other reviews, some bad and some good, I was having mixed feelings over whether this was the right camera for me who is just starting out in the world of becoming a RUclips content creator and after pressing yes on the buy button, my stomach churned like when you have that butterflies in your tummy feeling and my head was like “ what have you done ? OMG what if this is a mistake?”
But after watching your video this morning, I am much calmer and happy with my spontaneous purchase and l wish to thank you for such an honest and grounded review that put my mind to rest.
I am also trying to offer that grounded type of review for people as there are so many mixed reviews of products these days, you watch and feel no wiser than before you wasted x minutes of your life that you will never get back Lol
Anyway I have subscribe to your channel as there are a few other things I noticed while watching this video that I am sure you have created a perfect review, just like the perfect review of the GoPro10
Thanks again
Paul from “Pauls Travels & Reviews”
Thanks Paul! I really hope you enjoy your camera. Regardless what any review says, it ultimately comes down to how it works for YOU specifically.
I really love this one though and have enjoyed it so much. It's also important to remember that people love to complain about things, and negativity tends to get more clicks than positivity.
I'm sure you'll do some really great stuff with the GoPro!
@@tombuck
I hope so too Tom, currently I am just using the iPhone 12 Pro Max and achieving reasonable results, but action shots like slowing down a blade cutting some wood will hopefully be amazing and boost my videographer skills 🤔
Great review. I enjoyed the trip back in time with the originals. 😀
Love spending time in the time machine!
also do you have any info when the max lens will be able to be used with the gp 10?
I actually don’t know much about all the fun accessories like that 😬
@@tombuck so you can buy the max lens but you cant use it. 😜🤪 Its pretty unthinkable that companies has huge has gopro can make such blunders.
@@tombuck thank you!
This video, studio, light, sound setup and all is awesome! I like to take a few shots from your video to use in the video, is it okay with you?
Absolutely, I’d be honored 🙏
With adapter cables for the mini HDMI to full HDMI, can your GoPro work with the ATEM mini? I can't get it to work with my Hero 5 and Hero 8.
The USB C port won’t send an HDMI signal, so you’d need the Media Mod and then it’ll work. 👍
@@tombuck Awesome. My media mod just arrived, so I’ll be checking that out later tonight. But the Hero 5 (that had USB-C and mini HDMI, (even with a adapter cable) didn’t seem to work. Wasn’t sure if there’s a setting I missed. Lol
I’ll try it on the Hero 8, now that I got my Media Mod.
The 7 Black has the same "GP1." Virtually the same low light performace. Low light with the EIS is horrible.
But I'd try and narrow down the issue first 👍
Yeah, 9 and 10 are compatible, I suspect 11 will be same size no need to be bigger to add an audio port.
My laptop is old, I play 4K on my Roku or Shield, I need an upgrade before I could play or edit 4K. It does everything else fine.
1: It was on Epidemic Sound 🤷🏻♂️
2: I've been using the iFootage almost exclusively now. But a lot of the b-roll here is handheld 120fps with the camera's stabilizer turned on.
3: We got our hot tub from Costco and it's been a total game changer. 10/10 would spa again. 😁
@@tombuck I thought that was Yo Yo Ma for a second. Thanks
I guess the Google captions bot can't recognize a cello :)
This is interesting! I have a GoPro5 session which I never liked. Might even give that a chance at some point. Relying on the GoPro app was always a drag with the app.
I'm going to go fix the captions right now 😁
@@tombuck a friend of mine doing a saxophone lesson had a sentence on "Junk Cauldrons in Iranians" he was saying something about Funk Backgrounds I think 🙂
I wish it had integration with proper wireless mic solutions, like the rode wireless go for example...
It'd be interesting to see if it'd ever be possible for them to add in a built-in receiver. That'd be nifty for sure 👍
