I was saying as I was playing this, that I thought we were going through the Lords way too fast. I was like, there has to be more than just defeating the lords. Im not going to like though, That fight with Vahlron was certainly final boss like in the first part of the game.
I literally restarted the game once it was done. It was so good and finally a good romance in JRPG that evolves throughout the whole game. Playing it the second time is interesting when you understand the plot but frankly I just want to recapture those moments again. Seriously with plots that are dark, with bad endings and sadness it's a breath of fresh air to have a good wholesome love story.
Hi I finished the game recently and i'm craving something like this again. Just like you said good romance evolves throughout the whole game i'm searching but i cant find good recent ones if you know something like this can you share with me?
Dark, bittersweet , and depressing endings are JRPG trope at this point. Arise proves that you can have a moving conclusion without having to kill off a party character or protag making some compromises for the the better good
@@batuhansahin6101 I wish I could name anything. :( I was very surprised with how this game treats the characters and how much subtle little details was added to let you as a player see them and notice that. Just reached this point yesterday evening. I was so pleased when they did this, reminded me of tales of symphonia with its alternative on the second disc.
I bought this game at the end of June this year. At some point I remember looking up a tutorial video and came across the thumbnail of this 2nd opening. From the first piano key I knew that I hadn’t earned the sentiment that fueled the song as intended. Basically I didn’t earn it yet. Well here I am, 9am on a Saturday in August, FINALLY reaching the 2nd half of the game-elated that I get to listen to it finally in its entirety. This was my first rpg in years and I’m so glad I’m getting to experience this journey.
the moment this opening plays i know the story gonna attack my heart directly and it sure did the way the game presents shionne's development over the course of the story is really spot on and makes the ending final art much more impactful that it makes me teared up
the moment this OP came out, was the moment Tales of Arise was elevated from being a very good game, into being one of the best games out there. Can't wait to finish it
Don't agree, the second aprt of the gaùe was utter shit, with a stupid explanation to why everything happened, seriously when they discover who did that "oh interessting, wanna enjoy a good cup of tea with me and tell me the story?" while the beings killed millions of people, yeah best story ever made...
@@AntoinePelissier I agree, it took such a nosedive, and could have been so much better, it felt incredibly rushed. And it sucks that most of the monsters shown in the second op aren't story related monsters. They're all optional monsters even though it makes sense to kill them. It was really a downer
@@AntoinePelissier How is the explanation stupid? A planet's will is trying its best not to die. It knows not the value of each dying individual. The original Renas are just doing what they think is the most efficient way in response to the planet's will. Albeit cliché in a fantasy setting, how is that a stupid explanation?

Yup. I was waiting for the plot twist that every Tales game brings. But I wasn’t expecting a “Season 2” opening. They really outdid themselves with this one.

Seeing this second opening for the first time threw me back to childhood memories, changing discs in PS1 JRPGs. I am in my thirties now, and Arise is my first Tales Of. As much as I wish I had discovered the series long ago, I am still grateful for only recently finding out about this game quite randomly through a Steam sale. I felt like a kid again playing this. Anyone that has ever experienced this feeling knows what I am talking about. Truly magical.
Reminds me of Tales of Xillia 2 true ending credits it didn't have lyrics but had a sad kind of melody to it with a sort of family sketch of the party of the game that was so emotional to me
This opening is so good. It feels so conclusive, like you really are reaching the end. I've only played Vesperia and Berseria, but they only ever had one opening. They were good but obviously it can be kind of a challenge fitting an animated synopsis of the story in an animation within a 1:30 ish. I love that they made two openings because one of the things that I think many people have issues with regarding these games that go on for 50 plus hours is that they feel padded or just drag on. But the inclusion of a second opening not only allows better freedom of animation on Ufotable's end but also gives the average player a sense of progression. Like as if you are actually making progress towards that one ultimate goal that motivates the story which fluctuates in Arise's case from defeating the lords, to other things. And that last minute.... Man I LOVE the Tales series because its always about the journey you have with the group you have and the connections you create between them. And that last minute were it shows all your comrades really hit it home to me. To those peeps that are still playing the game: Its worth it. Every hour. Play at your own pace, and do what you wanna do, dont feel rushed by the story, and I promise you the ending will be very fulfilling.
I'm completely agree with play at your own pace before I finish the game i just wander around the map and talk with an npc to see the progress of the world and damn the game ending was a great full course experience.
This was awesome. It was almost like being told "okay here's where the story really begins" even though I had played through a sizable chunk already. Either way a fantastic touch. I won't lie though I liked the first song of the 1st opening alot more
Was not expecting this game to have a second opening. In fact, I'm on my first run rn and I can say that it literally had me jump out my chair in excitement. I've fallen in love with Tales of Arise and now will forever be an Tales Of fan.
"Damn such a ride, vholran fight is a good one. It's definitely one of the best tales. Wait it only beginning? Alright, so they gonna make a sequel huh? Wait what is this? A teaser? New costume for alphen and shionne? OM MY FUCKIN GOD IT'S THE 2ND OPENING, WE'RE IN IT FOR THE LONG RIDE BOOYYSS HERE WE GO!!" -every tales of arise player in their first playthrough. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
That's right. I somehow knew that this can't be "it" about the story, as they were talking about the dark master core, the Legelis itself and when the 2nd Opening was going I was like - there is a lot of stuff in here, did they really make all that game before and all this as well? And they did. And eventually I learnt about Rena and it was quite a revelation they made there. Also, General Kenobi, you're a bold one.
I thought it was appropriate to keep the upbeat opening in the beginning and a more toned-down opening in the later portion of the game, at least for this game. So good!
You guys know the feeling of putting in disc 2 for old PS1 jrpgs? Because this is what this felt like to me alongside "Oh, they have a season 2?!" feeling.

@@BaktasMIntrasWala according to other, the final moments of the game seem to be straight outta a Shojo manga. Wonder if this is true without spoilers ofc. Just got to the Ship
This opening reminds me of the older Tales openings. I'm reminded of Eternia and Rebirth. It has a really different vibe compared to the high energy of the first opening, but I think it might actually be better for how beautiful the part at 1:08 is.
Rest assured, I doubted end game so soon with a Tales game. But goddamn, no doubt they nailed the story progression. Tales has hit a point where it truly can rival FF (Final Fantasy). Something special indeed. GOTY.
It helps that he's by far the hardest, most fast-paced and intense battle the player will have fought up to that point, not to mention his strategy of bleeding you of your Cure Points and constantly putting things in your way designed specifically to exhaust Alphen's party and by extension _exhaust YOU._ By the time I finished all of his phases, I was legitimately _tired_ out mentally in a way I haven't felt from a game in a while. It was so sick.
@@LeoKRogue Tell me about it. First phase had me on the edge, and then his 2nd form came and I was wtf seriously? Lol. Such a great fight and I got it first go.
@@thereaversden6847 i wont go as far as calling it GOTY, being pragmatic, the story pacing on the second half is too rushed in comparison to the first, it suffers from final fantasy 15 story telling syndrome, dont get me wrong, both games has good story, however it moves too fast and too safe for its own good.
This is why I love these games they get you involved with each character to which if something happens it pulls on your heart strings, it was like that when I played the other Tales games and Lunar as well.

I'm a hardcore Tales fan, having played every single Tales games (including all the Japanese only ones, and even Tempest), having spent over 200 hours+ on each of the main titles. And Arise is the best Tales game in the series IMO. I found the cast and story the best in the series, topping even Vesperia and Abyss. I've played hundreds of JRPGs since the 90s and Arise is on my top five of all time.
It was a great cast. I think it's hard to compare games though, as I'd never trade each of one cast for another. Bersera or Graces for example had casts that worked well for them and their plots and style of games, whilst Arise worked well for its more mature and heavy themes.
honestly i didn't feel like i was that obsessed with the game until i realized i finished it in about a week- also, i got my copy signed by Ray Chase, Erica Lindbeck, and Bryce Papenbrook, will literally cherish it forever lol
I lost my entire shit when what I thought was just another AMV turned into "now lets really begin". I was floored!! Fucking amazing game top to bottom. God damn I love Arise.
The fact that the boss's level is only in the mid-thirties should tip anyone off, though. Still, that fight feels kinda reminiscent of the first fight with Van in Abyss... with the distinction that, I'M SORRY THERE'S A *SECOND PHASE!?*
55+ hours in Party is at level 45-46 Unlocked all titles Couldn't find all owls, but that's okay. Might've just missed some. Same with fishing. Just beat the "final boss" "Aight t'was pretty good. Loved the combat which made grinding satisfying. Story was lacking though. But I'm satisfied. Are they gonna make a sequel though?" That scene happens This plays "Oh I guess this is the ending scene" "Wait what? New outfits?? More bosses???" "LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOO" For real, got this game since I was thinking of jumping back into the tales franchise having played only the first 4 games more than a decade ago. Came in with zero expectations and I was pleasantly surprised! Now I'm hesitant to try out the previous titles since a lot of people say Arise has the best combat mechanics in the franchise.

Just finished the game yesterday. I liked how simplistic the story was, it didn't waste your time. Shionne and Alphen, one of the cutest couples in jrpg imo
Hard to say, the game is famous alrd. Kinda pointless for them to make the anime (in term of promotional). Zestiria launch wasn't hype at all so its no brainer for them to make an anime for the game, also beseria was also in zestiria anime so its like 2 promotional in one go

To be honest this really made me smile when I saw it for the first time, it really reminded me to the "Wild Arms" series, where the openings changed depending on how far you're in the game, and I really hope this becomes a staple for the series from now on! n_n
This game took me 3 arcs to start loving it, the party only got interesting when Do and Kisara came in and that's where I got invested with the characters and the 2nd half of the story kinda reminds me of ff7's story for some reason but man finishing it felt really good and battle system was really addicting.

the only thing that slip my mind at that moment is "wait, is that the whole time i was playing the TUTORIAL? ok now i'm ready for the begining"
I hope that the success of this game will lead other companies to somewhat try this approach.
@@karurujp I did enjoy that fact that Alphen up to the very end was like - "NO, I won't compromise anything, I don't care." I'm glad they didn't take the Game of Thrones approach here, I was low-key expecting that until the very end.
@@batuhansahin6101 I can't give you an exact answer for romance (I wish I could find some that gives me something like Arise too), but I'd recommend the whole Trails of Cold Steel series, they're excellent JRPG with a great story and character evolving through it.
They had us in the first half, not gonna lie.
Lmao I also thought same that now it's ended 🤣
Lmao how this relates my friend. I was content with the first bosses final arc.... But the right amount of oomph, if you will, carried this game to the next level.
@@thereaversden6847 yep agreed

When I defeated Volrahn and I got the gold trophy and this started playing I was scared it ended with a sequel bait ending...
Oh how wrong I was.

I wish it would have ended, Act 2 seemed rushed compared to act 1.
@@Kuroganemk2 In all fairness Act 2 didnt have the buildup required of introducing and learning the backstory of 5 lords. And 6/7 Protagonists. Not so much they could have went with that wouldnt have been overkill repetition. I do wish there was more than 3 maps introduced in act 2, or less reused enemies, And I wish the final boss with Volran didnt have the Final Fantasy X Curse of being unloseable but other then that I think it was absolutely amazing.

I bought this game at the end of June this year. At some point I remember looking up a tutorial video and came across the thumbnail of this 2nd opening. From the first piano key I knew that I hadn’t earned the sentiment that fueled the song as intended. Basically I didn’t earn it yet. Well here I am, 9am on a Saturday in August, FINALLY reaching the 2nd half of the game-elated that I get to listen to it finally in its entirety. the moment this OP came out, was the moment Tales of Arise was elevated from being a very good game, into being one of the best games out there. Can't wait to finish it
Agree.... This moment, especially among long time fans of Tales, locked it in. This is my GOTY. I doubt anything will top it.
I cant agree more with you guys, as a long Tales fan this is sooooo good and I cant wait to see how things will go after this
Don't agree, the second aprt of the gaùe was utter shit, with a stupid explanation to why everything happened, seriously when they discover who did that "oh interessting, wanna enjoy a good cup of tea with me and tell me the story?" while the beings killed millions of people, yeah best story ever made...
This song is so beautiful, and the full length version just feels even more powerful somehow
This is a famous Japanese song. It's a cover and a really good one at that.
They did so well with the characters in this game. They really made you feel like you were traveling with and getting to know a party of real, in-depth people. I'm genuinely sad I finished the game

After just reaching the 2nd opening I immediately looked it up to listen to again and I'm so glad the comments have no spoilers I'm so excited for the second half of this game its a masterpiece so far!
All the Tales games are extremely good value on Steam sales at the moment.

This game really feels like a celebration of the franchise.
Every hour. Play at your own pace, and do what you wanna do, dont feel rushed by the story, and I promise you the ending will be very fulfilling.
would be nice if you could find a way to play symphonia, xillia, and xillia 2. Maybe tales of Graces F(I personally didn't like that one much)

God this game is something special.
Rest assured, I doubted end game so soon with a Tales game. But goddamn, no doubt they nailed the story progression. Tales has hit a point where it truly can rival FF (Final Fantasy). Something special indeed. GOTY.
Specially because Volhran and his dungeon felt like really end game stuff.

Everyones smiles at the end hit me different
This game took me 3 arcs to start loving it, the party only got interesting when Do and Kisara came in and that's where I got invested with the characters and the 2nd half of the story kinda reminds me of ff7's story for some reason but man finishing it felt really good and battle system was really addicting.
Lmao Alphen without his armor and mask is straight up Senel without his scar and j love it
He also looks like an older version of Allen Walker from D. Gray Man haha
