#1 is wrong: color ePaper display ARE slower for non-RGB models, i.e red-black-white or yellow-black-white displays used in advertising. Those do not rely on colored bayer filters, but two-sized particulates, the colored one usually being the largest (and slowest to move through the display's thickness).
I'd like to direct you to Ben's (from Applied Science) excellent video on the subject : ruclips.net/video/MsbiO8EAsGw/видео.html

The caveat with color epaper displays not being slower is there are non-bayer filter color displays that have color pigmented balls of different sizes which travel through viscous fluid at different rates, with the controller using pulse timing to control which set remains at the top after refresh. These are substantially slower tham most displays often taking a good 30 sec for a full refresh but offer significantly higher vibrancy over bayer filter displays. This type of display is marketed towards advertising and posters though, not going to see it in an e-reader.

Hi, does this E-paper display surface actually feels like paper when you run your finger through it or company put some other rubber type display over it for paper type feel
and one more thing, are these display touch-enabled, can we draw something on screen using STYLUS for making E-notes.

Sony's DPT (which ever generation i saw in a domestic online store) is quite expensive, and the color would probably not be far off from that price, so i definetly gotta save up if i want it.
Though the Nova color or Poke color by Onyx Boox should be good enough for now, and im gonna wait for the next improvement before buying, because i figured it would be best not to wait too long, but i should still be patient.

You say its not slower. But the diagram shows that each RGB / color e ink pixel is made up by 3 sub pixel black/white e ink. That means that the display itself most be of higher resolution and most likely take a bit longer to refresh?

I have heard that the color e-paper layer is a passive thing, which is always there. But Onyx advertises their Nova 3 Color as having different resolutions 300DPI in gray and 100DPI in color, which suggests that the color layer is active and can be turned on and off. What is the truth: is color e-paper layer active or passive? Can you turn off color on a Kalido screen?

I own one. I would recommend it as a solid all-rounder device. I often watch podcasts / videos on the LCD while taking notes on the e-ink panel. Also, you can emulate the desktop into the e-ink panel which is a godsend. You can run Windows on E-Ink display. There's lots of updates that happened that the reviews don't cover.

Well its not quite right. There is two types of color E-paper. One with filter and one with triple or quadruple color micro balls.
For the quad color it does take extra time to flip the image because it needed to have a double input. The quad color also exist in a dual quad color with two different types of quad color, totally generating 7 colors, because there need to be a Key color.
That of cause make it sound like the color filter version is far superior with its pretty much 16M color pixel. The downside is that 2/3 of the light is absorbed even before we get to the display. There is a trick using a unfiltered pixels to retain 1/2 light, but that makes the colors a bit more washed out. To have even reasonable color display the screen need to be front lit. This pretty much negates the point of having a E-paper to begin with. Well sure yea, it still take a bit less power than a LCD, and sure it kind of decrease the eye stain. But technically it don´t really have much of a advantage to a really good LCD.. and its still slower (than LCD). Even worse, the color filter display loses the ability to display black and white images (with out emulating it via the color filter, still losing brightness)
the 3-7 color E-paper display still black and white content with really no noticeable drawback... If its feed a black and white signal, it pretty much work as a black and white screen
The reason E-books generally don´t have the color filter type display is not really due to a lack of demand or anything like that, but becasue they need to be slim. And if you want to read it outdoors the front light need to be set on a very high level draining the battery in no time. So its neither a fluke or a conspiracy, its simply a indirect technical limitation
When they have the colorfilter E-paper in display , they are always connected in, because the front light is on on a level that is just sufficient for the color to be clearly visibly but not so much that its apparent that its no.
For the 7 color screens in steed... well they are limited to 7 colors. so they have to use dithering to make sort of a clear display. The colors will still look kind of washed out. But those display can show clear color images with a totaly disconnected screen indecently.
