As someone who’s had it for months, I can tell you that the Poke 5’s hardware construction is absolutely incredible, but it is let down by mediocre software and a dumb UI.
For book reader ipad is not in consideration. Buy yeah, the price will off users cause as a book reader we only use bnw. A colored one will only be a novelty.
@@ivanzq21 It is a fair price the Ipad and an Ereader are two very separate things 1 is for watching youtube and porn in bed and the other is for reading books and comics and light note taking.
Sorry, but the colors still look pretty washed out to me. I'd still go for a traditional device if I wanted to read comic books or something like that. The technology still has a long way to go as far as I'm concerned.
The reflectiveness of E-Ink is better, but the Eyemoo screen is more responsive because it's an LCD. But I'd say the biggest difference is viewing angle stability, which isn't great on the Eyemoo RLCD.
I got the early bird special with the keyboard case, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Would like to know your eink center settings for comics.
Yep, same here... :D I've set Dark Color Enhancement to 20, Vividness to 30 and Color Brightness to 1. Haven't changed any of the contrast settings in Neoreader itself
It's around 12 fps when using the ultra fast refresh mode. But ghosting can be an issue. Check out my full review (ruclips.net/video/8_wrd6Twjrw/видео.html) for more details
It's the Boox Tab Ultra C. But there's now also the Boox Tab Ultra C Pro and the Boox Note Air 3C with the same screen. I'd go for the Boox Note Air 3C at this point.
Depends. If you want the colors where they are supposed to be then forget about it. If you don't care that the colors of the mangas/comics randomly get changed and dulled down then yeah, go for it. Personally i want to read comics the way they were made and not the way some dumb (sorry) colour filter tells me to.
Probably to some extent, just like B&W screens shift to gray with time and light exposure. It probably depends on the exact contents of each 'pixel' what that looks like exactly
I don't know if it keeps the same image when the battery runs out. But same as with other E-Ink displays, it doesn't need any power once the screen is set. So the standby image will be shown without the screen draining the battery.
@@Stellaaa1989 no worries! Welcome! Ghosting is when it leaves an image of what you were previously looking at. You’ll see small traces of the old image in the background while being on the new page. Some instances are barely noticeable and others are annoying. You notice it more if reading magazines and comics. You really don’t have this issue on a black or white e reader but color technology it’s always a given. You’ll have to refresh your page for a smooth clear reading experience and most color e readers don’t give you an easy option to refresh.
I need this stuff but its too expensive... the substitute products are available in variable range price.....ill end up buying samsung tablets since you can get more with quite a similar price even with similar screen size...if only they lower it more to 150 or something that will be a game changer for me :(
I'm looking forward to your thoughts on this device, Chalid, and your review of the new Boox Poke 5 (this reader seems also quite exciting) :-)
As someone who’s had it for months, I can tell you that the Poke 5’s hardware construction is absolutely incredible, but it is let down by mediocre software and a dumb UI.
could you see how older comics look on there? new restorations make them over saturated and would benefit from this type of matte look
Well its 599 dollars.. Better to buy an ipad air
Looking forward to your review! Been trying to buy this but keeps showing sold out. 🤷🏻♂️
Not going to show a single second of it changing frames? Just static? Disappointing.
Check out my full review, it shows different viewing modes and more: ruclips.net/video/8_wrd6Twjrw/видео.html
This is what I've ben waiting for!! I want to read my comics on it.
I suggest first try a regular 11” because the resolution in these things are awful
You can gain something but lose in terms of options and apps
Thanks for the tip. If it doesn't look good, it wouldn't be worth switching from my iPad.
That price point for an e reader 😬 I’ll stick with getting a kindle or just using my iPad
It's not an e-reader. It's a full-on tablet which just happens to have an e-ink screen. Might not be what you want, but it's perfect for my use case.
so nice, but for 600 bucks I better buy the iPad mini

@@eyhtwozed2606 Yea but the kindle is far superior for what you use it for.
I'm probably going to wait for ACeP to get faster refresh rates, kaleido 3 is not vibrant enough for my uses

Can this tablet playing RUclips videos ?

This screen technology is bad still for color. I am not sure why numerous RUclipsrs are praising it.
Screen image looks very dull. Not quite there yet.
Get to 300 dpi and I’m in
can we type with a USB type c keyboard
do the colors fade over time if you use it under the sun?

2 years later. Color e ink didnt change anything
But does it compare in quality and visibility of a normal tablet
The colors look washed, still not really ready
I buy this ebook for nothing ,all the books are writen in german and english,I just read in spanish.
Color is still not quite there for me yet. Looks washed out
Does it have Google play installed?
Yes!

No lo compres, mejor compra unas samba :v

No it’s not. I purchased it day one and sent it back the next day. Too much ghosting in my opinion.
Yes, ghosting can definitely be an issue - I mention it in the full review
May I ask what is ghosting? New to e-reading 😅

Is there a good video you would recommend that explains how e-ink differs from other screen technologies?
I can see this being the future of comic books when the technology is ready
Bitte, lerne Englisch! Bitte!!
turn off the fucking front light!
Seriously, it's hilarious to me that people immediately kill the main point of an e-ink display by sticking a backlight under it.
