- E-Ink displays are everywhere and you probably don’t even realize it. I had a chance to check out what E-Ink is working on and saw that they had some neat applications like color changing cars, the ability to tint roofs, android phones, and even foldable displays! I can’t wait until my e-reader folds up like a book because of the foldable e-ink display 🤯

e-ink is great for specific uses, but the price tag on it doesn't make sense, that's why it's hard to be popular.
The tech is still immature and the cost of its production is still high. E-ink displays are fascinating and I'm very welcoming its promising development!
@@ADFaried no, this tech is not immature. It's been around for decades, root cause for its high price tag is market. e-ink is for specific usecase scenario so the demand not high, but now more people aware of it's existence demand should climb but the price still ridiculous.

E-Ink was very smart when they named their company. But this is like calling all soda Coke, those are E-Paper displays.
What’s the difference?
@@rachel705 The technology that it uses to display the content. E-ink display is what you think of in say a kindle. E-paper looks almost the same but can refresh/update like a normal display. It does take more power to display where e-ink only needs power each time you want to change the content (it'll hold whatever is on it with no power.)

Can you imagine? You'll also see it under direct sunlight...
Or imagine a Smartwatch with wear OS finally with 14 days battery life and a full Android experience.
You need to check out Garmin or Suunto. Many of them use MIP screens and are easy to read under sunlight similar to e-ink screens.
That would awesome ❤ and that would be the best solution. Wo needs a super fast screen to read the our, chanfe playlist or read some notifications? This technology now has eve colors, so the time is ready for that kind of use
Well, it's pretty old, but the smartwatch you're talking about is the Pebble smartwatch. If you upgrade the battery you glcan get up to 1 month battery life. The thing is that it doesn't run Wear OS.
The only great thing about e-ink is the screen is static, it dont conserve energy to display it. I can see the future of eink will get used to make a smart canvas. A future when we dont have to make bunch of dry paintings but rather only the digital art.
Image having a 120Hz 1ms E Ink with little ghosting, that would not harm our eyes after hours of looking

Garmin Fenix watches have transflective display.
Screens just make more light and waste more power, plus the radiation emmited by electronics are non harmful.
E-ink is cool, but it wouldnt work for gaming unless you can make the price cheap enough, and the refresh rate very high
