Hey guys! I did something different with my "slime" videos this year. I wanted to do them in more of the "Toysplosion," informational style. I will have another one tomorrow! I know I usually do 13, but rather than trying to track down 13 toys and phoning it in I decided to spend a little extra time on two better produced videos. Let me know what you think! Happy Halloween!!
I totally had Manglodragon. And he was promptly ripped apart... sigh... Sadly, as I was tearing off his limb, my mom tried to stop me, thinking I was breaking it. But I explained to her that on the commercial, they showed you could reassemble them, and the box confirmed it. But, she was ultimately correct... I think this was bad marketing, as, I never bought any other manglors after that.
Great review! I had the Manglormountain as a kid. Got it for Christmas. And as you said the interest drops pretty quick. I ripped all my arms and legs off my Manglord.. and I thought they slime would help reattach the parts. Nope. He was ruined and the play set had little use beyond that.
I had this set as a kid....a couple of important notes about it: The slime came in a hermetically sealed bag when you opened the box. If you could find one still sealed, and it was stored well, it may actually still have viable slime. That is important for another reason....it wasn't exactly like the slime used here. It was much thinner in consistency so that the figure and cage would be covered in the goo as it rose. It was pretty cool.
This is exactly right. The slime was VERY different to the slime that we have today. The only way I can describe it is it was a lot like mucus. (gross) And If I remember correctly there was A LOT of it. like the whole cage was submersed in the stuff absolutely covered. You would have to take Manglord out and rinse him off and let him dry for like 30 minutes or the slime would get EVERYWHERE. My mom totally threw this toy away within a week after christmas because she hated it so much.
I had several manglors including the mountain. I remember the slime having a slight red tinge to it, and there was quite a bit of it. The pumping effect was quite spectacular. The slime was advertised that it would heal the torn manglors, erasing any sign of damage and i seem to remember that it kind of worked, making the tears somewhat disappear. You were supposed to store the slime in a jar when not in use. I distinctly remember forgetting to put the slime in the jar and leaving the play set for a few days. The stuff dried and hardened in the mountain with a manglor in it ruining the playset and figure.
I wish they would bring these figures back, i purchased a few off ebay 2 years ago, i remember my mother hated this thing, she was afraid i would get slime all over her rug, man the good old days!
At my folks with my sons and they asked if Nana had any toys Dad used to play with...next thing I know Nana busts out Daddy's old Manglore Mountain, box included. Slime is long gone and so is the Manglore which I totally ripped apart and never went back together. Such an odd toy, but a blast from the past.
Great to see the classic Manglord stretch figures covered, thanks! I had the original Manglord. Amazing packaging artwork and a cool figure while it lasted for a shorter time than I was hoping.
Oh how I remember these, and they got my brother and I once. We put our money together and bought Manglor Mountain at Target. It looked so cool, we had to have it. Well, talk about disappointed kids. We were so angry. It didn't take long for it to end up in the garbage. Looking back, I wish we had kept it.
Weird but true: I had asked for this for Christmas the year they came out, and I did get one. But the night before, I had a dream that the ripping apart thing didn't work right. Must've been my subconscious warning me not to be such a sucker!!
Wow, I forgot all about Manglors. Just like you said, I ripped mine up, was devastated that it didn't magically fuse together again, and dumped it in the trash. I don't remember seeing this play set though. Very cool! Happy Halloween, Phantom Dan!
Great vid Dan! Talk about being let down as a kid. I remember getting Manglor and just like it said tore him apart and was highly upset when i found he couldn't be put back together, lol. That playset looks a lot cooler on the box, lol.
I had this. The figure never fused back, got sticky and grimy with hair, and dirt. I remember enjoying this playset. Once the goo was gone, I just used the playset as a play feature with other figures. Wish I still had that cage.
Not going to lie, after watching a bunch of Pixel Dan, Toy Galaxy, and Jobby the Hong, I kinda do! Thinking maybe a line of two inch figures called, "Golems, Gargoyles, and Ghouls!" With scarecrows and Frankenstein monsters in the Golems. Foo dogs and tradition gargoyles in, well, Gargoyles. And general undead like zombies and vampires in Ghouls. Maybe add Goblins in wave 2!?
Wow thanks for the education on a toy I have never heard of before!!! There's definitely a kitchen blender vibe to the fortress just like you said!! Happy Halloween Pixel family!!!
Not the most clever concept for a slime playset, but it has an inventive design and it's always fun to see a vintage playset in action. :) Thanks for sharing this cool episode, Dan. Your work is always appreciated!
Pixel Dan how's it going.Thx for this flash back wow.Manglor was my Christmas 1986 toy thx to my dad then. Yup my Manglor toy went to the trash with his arm and leg that didn't attach back.
The use of the slime was very clever on this set, unfortunately the same can't be said about the rest of the materials used the in line itself. Love your slime shirt Dan, thanks for this walk down memory toy lane.
I got this and a few "figures" for my 5th birthday. I traded it for the Super Powers Hall Of Justice, Joker, The flash and Aquaman. I still have them. One toy trade I will never regret.
Anyone else getting a "Ho, ho, ho! -- Green Giant!" vibe from ol' Manglord, there? Must be the Grumpy Green Giant, though: Jolly's embittered brother who lost out on the spokesgiant contract because he was away from his phone that fated day when they were casting and his younger brother, Jolly, answered instead. Not only do I remember the ads for these and seeing them in the stores, I also remember the TV consumer advocacy show that told kids how to get their money back for these rip-off toys. (Pun intended, and relished.)
They really shouldn't have mentioned ripping them apart as part of the gimmick. They would have been fun squishy toys for a bit. And I'm kinda surprised you didn't do much slime toys this October. It would have been nice to see a bit more from the Real Ghostbusters line. But I guess you had a busy schedule this October. And they did repros of those guys? I guess I need to do more research on repros. I hope the other ones got reprode too. Nice video overall.
I was too young for these when they came out, but I remember finding on on clearance (I think at a kay-bees?) years later. Super disappointing, though I remember it being sticky enough that you could see how it was supposed to work. I think they probably covered themselves by putting the "almost" into the descriptor of what you could do with them.

Love what you do in any format my friend. Your enthusiasm is appreciated and shines through!!
Neat, I'm excited for the next one then.
I think that’s a good approach since there aren‘t so much slime toys unreviewed by you I suppose. 😉
I like it. Keep it interesting for yourself. Goos for me
This toy made me cry as a kid. I remember taking it back to the store and buying a Gobot instead.
Gobots! Good choice!
Wuss. 🤣
Did you cry again after your gobot? Hahahaha. Keep striking out…hahha

My great aunt let me pick out a toy and this was it. Years ago. Thanks for the video. It brought me back.

My mom threw this whole thing away within a week after Christmas for the same reason.
Got this for Christmas back in the day.

Great review, I always wondered if such a "magical" feature was true or not. My mind said "no way" and now you confirm it.
Weird but true: I had asked for this for Christmas the year they came out, and I did get one. But the night before, I had a dream that the ripping apart thing didn't work right. Must've been my subconscious warning me not to be such a sucker!!
That was a really weird story I never would imagine had existed, thanks for sharing.
I have a clear memory of receiving this set as a gift and then my father marching me down the street to dump the slime down the sewer. :-(
I had one of these as a kid. Loved it tore it apart and through it away
You DO love your slime. Lol
Wow, I forgot all about Manglors. Just like you said, I ripped mine up, was devastated that it didn't magically fuse together again, and dumped it in the trash. I don't remember seeing this play set though. Very cool! Happy Halloween, Phantom Dan!
I've been looking for this for years.
Great vid Dan! Talk about being let down as a kid. I remember getting Manglor and just like it said tore him apart and was highly upset when i found he couldn't be put back together, lol. That playset looks a lot cooler on the box, lol.
I remember this toy .never had one . Stay awesome pixel dan
This is pretty dope playset for one time use as youve put
Yay! Dan didn't forget it was Halloween!
Your channel makes my October complete, thanks Spooky Dan!
Awesome video. Loved it.

With all that stuff with Shane dawson making his own make up palette imagine if you made your own toy line just imagine that

@@cooltrainervaultboy-39 yeah that would be something I'd buy lol I need to make pixel dan see this. I'd love to see his reaction
Wow thanks for the education on a toy I have never heard of before!!! There's definitely a kitchen blender vibe to the fortress just like you said!! Happy Halloween Pixel family!!!
Interesting
Never heard of these toys or that playset
Now I know, and knowing is half the battle
Excellent video there Pixel Dan

Pixel Dan how's it going.Thx for this flash back wow.Manglor was my Christmas 1986 toy thx to my dad then. Yup my Manglor toy went to the trash with his arm and leg that didn't attach back.
This was great, please continue to cover obscure things like this!
I actually had one of these back in the day and the lava was a bright red-orange color. And I remember it being more runny.
The use of the slime was very clever on this set, unfortunately the same can't be said about the rest of the materials used the in line itself. Love your slime shirt Dan, thanks for this walk down memory toy lane.
I just scored one of these manglor mountains in Australia ! Not something I thought I’d ever find down here 😮
Wow. I remember this now.
We had this when we were younger!
Needs more slime...🧪💯✔
You can reverse T2 ending scene I guess.
New to the channel, first time commenter. Haven't seen much of the video, but the creepy company shirt already means a sub from me ^^
Increíble la montaña la caja está asombrosa
Good sir, that is called a "GIBBET".
It is not an "Iron Maiden".
"The more you know!" Thanks! :-)
I got this and a few "figures" for my 5th birthday. I traded it for the Super Powers Hall Of Justice, Joker, The flash and Aquaman. I still have them. One toy trade I will never regret.
Awsome video

Ken Kelly is the artist, nephew of Frank Frazetta.
That’s like if something like motu classics promoted swapping the heads for a different one and then once you tried it the peg would snap off

I addressed this in a comment above. If you want more Real Ghostbusters, I think you'll enjoy tomorrow's video. :-)
@@Pixel-dan Saw the comment before this already 😅, sorry about that 😄. Next video sounds neat still 😁👍.
In the time them toys was made a good idea for a play you get a mold and a chamber you can rip the figures and re melt it into a mold
I saw this toy on retro commercial compilation and had to research.

looks like the jolly green giant lol
I'm getting a very BSDM feel from this for some odd reason.
Hello guys !, where can I buy the Manglor replica? Thanks
I always thought it would have been better if you had the option to remove the clear top so it could erupt .
I had one 👍
I had this always thought It was swamp thing
Interesting
That's not an iron maiden, it's a gibbet cage.
When are the new half shell heroes
Are there new Half Shell Heroes?
I had this when I was a kid and it was USELESS
I had one
An evil blender.....hmmmm gremlins anyone?
I was SO disappointed with this crummy toy... But I believed...
I don't call seeing this over sea on any Army post my father was post at when I was a kid
Can't help but notice that ad qualified things as "almost" like new. Kind of scummy, but I guess that's how they got away with it.
Seems kinda boring.
