Was about to say it. Fun fact- practically every single part of the Dark Knight Collection toy line "borrows" from previous Kenner lines- going back as far as Super Powers and "borrowing" from lines as unrelated as Sky Commanders, Police Academy and Robocop.
Was going to say that as well but was certain someone already had. I wasn’t aware the Batjet was a reused mould until earlier this year though and I didn’t know about the handcuffs being a reuse from Silverhawks until this video or that the wing feature goes back to Super Powers.
Yo Pixel Dan, you missed one! There was a Silverhawks character named Condor, a former Silverhawk who turned private investigator that got recruited back into the team when they were short-handed. He no longer had his Silverhawk-issued glider wings, so he got around by a winged rocket pack. His action figure came with the rocket pack with pop-out wings gimmick. The rocket pack was later re-released for "Tec-Shield Batman". Also, you should look into how Kenner re-used gimmicks and accessories from Sky Commanders for the move-based Batman toy line.
Now I want to see a Batman/Silverhawks crossover. Quick, get WarnerMedia to contact . . . um, WarnerMedia. See if they could work with themselves. Better yet, Silverhawks on a streaming platform.
I remember having the shadow wing Batman. It was my favorite! I also had the joker cycle which was a reused Kenner robocop Vandal motorcycle. The Kenner Robin Hood reused a bunch of molds. I had a Robin Hood figure that was a reused Green Arrow, the G on its belt was a giveaway. Friar Tuck was a mold of Gamorrean Guard and the Nottingham playset was the Ewok village.
Cool! Would love an episode on the new adventures of he-man and the demolition man figures being the same mold. Especially Stallone in his cop suit and a baseball cap, the vest is the same , and you can even see the H on his best left over from the he-man figure lol
I think the same episode should also focus on how often the vintage MOTU series heavily borrowed from Big Jim, in terms of molds, action features and concepts
My favourite thing about the Kenner Batman Dark Knight Collection was a "Sonic Neutralizer" which was fairly obviously an Imperial E-11 Blaster Rifle with a Batman logo radar dish stuck to the front. Good ol' Kenner.
The shadowing Batman figure (whatever it's called) was trying to replacate that famous scene in "Batman Returns" when Batman spreads out his cape than jumps off the building and glides down to batmobile parked in the alley for safety. Now that you've mentioned the comparison that gliding scene in "Batman Returns" must've been inspired by the Silverhawks leaping off the Mirage spread their wings out a glide through space to land on a planet surface. I've never noticed that before and I've been watching "Silverhawks" cartoon recently since I own the series on DVD.
I love Silverhawks, I watched the show whenever the school schedule allowed me to, but did not have any figure. Thank you for the video! I hope we have Silverhawks Classics figures at some time in the future.
I know a lot of people dislike the reuse of parts or features by company, but I always liked it and found it creative; the notion of seeing what new thing you can make out of what's around you seems like at the heart of customizing.
Sorry Dan, you needed to do a bit more research this time, Shadow Wing Batman actually came out in the Dark Knight Collection for the first time, not the Batman Returns line just like the BatJet.
Thanks Dan for the research and then all the extra editing for the video, I feel like I learn so much from your toysplosion series. Would love netflix to pick this up
I'm just happy that you're featuring the Silverhawks. I loved that toy line and tv show. I had a most of the figures but they were lost over the years (pretty sure my mom gave them away).
Everybody's mom threw everybody's cop toys away.. story of the world.. tale as old as time.. "I would be a millionaire if it wasnt for my mom throwing out my old toys"
I miss toy commercials. They went to together with Saturday morning cartoons like Cap'n Crunch and the Spider-Man spoon you dug out of the bottom of the box.
I took that Batman figure, removed the head and arms, and put Little John's head and arms in place. I then made a fabric robe and put LJ's staff in his hand and made a Kenner Red Sea splitting Moses.
Great video Dan! do you have any toys from Captain Power? I loved that show as a kid and I know some toys were released that were kind of high tech for the time. another question, wasn't there a toy of the other twin of the silverhawks? (the girl)
Aww man.. I was really hoping to see that bat missile shoot from the silver hawk vehicle. Good vid. I remember having the bat jet, seeing the silver hawks version was a “ah ha!” Moment.
Fun stuff! It was also a gimmick used on the 200th edition Batman ... a Batman Beyond figure that was gorgeous to look at, but didn’t have much play value.
Oh yeah, it's just like that one time you pointed out the (New Adventures of) He-Man and Demolition Man figures. Still remember that line you said too. "Son of a Biscuit!"
I so happy for this... It´s something we all know as kids but never anyone talk about it. Even the Batjet from dark knight collection is the same ship for Quicksilver "sprinthawk"
Neat video. I know companies do this but I’m not turned off. Because they do change color techniques or gimmicks (like the hand cuffs). & it’s fun to find some & point them out. But remember the he-men. All had the same body. But each character had an identifiable color scheme, head and weapons. Thanks for the video
Kenner really went out with a bang with their Batman figures. After that, I think they were fully acquired by Hasbro and I don’t remember hearing their name ever again.
How dare you play that ear worm of a theme song. Now I gotta watch the opening. And I’m not surprised by them reusing certain action features considering how often they reused past body molds.
Dang Dan!!! Cool new look. You look like a completely different human being. It was weird hearing your voice but seeing such a different face! It's really cool. You look like a heel wrestler in WWE! keep up the great videos man.
Kenner was crazy with action feature and part reuse. One need look no further than the Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves line for several famous instances of repurposing from both Super Powers and Star Wars.
Please do this for the Gargoyles action figures. I swear I remember a few of them reusing features from other Kenner toys. The castle was a different mold, but very much had the Greyskull castle vibe. Even the small and large turrets lined up (funny being from a different company). I also swear up and don that I had noticed the motorcycle was nearly identical to another toy line they had. And they had some flying jets that I believe also were reused, but I ant to say it was another line later that used the gargoyle yet.
The "Shadowing" Batman was originally released in 1990 under Kenner's "Dark Knight Collection" line, two years before it was recycled for the BR line.
Nearly all of the Batman Returns line was repurposed/repainted figures from previous kenner lines. The biggest offender was the Penguin.
Starburst She-Ra also had this gimmick. Released the same year as the Silverhawks.
The Sorceress figure had a similar gimmick too. I guess spreading out wings/capes were very popular in the 80s
But she has no wings. Her horse yes
Kenner used Jurassic Park to make Congo figs. One Crichton series for another
Hasbro's still repurposing parts from across their many lines with the Marvel Legends
Don’t get me started with their cheap looking painted on clothes and loose belts and straps....
Yeah, the Bucky Cap mold immediately comes to mind.
Siege sideswiped : am I a joke to you
I meant how parts from other lines, always seem to make their way to the Legends line.
Oh ok
You should take a look at Kenner’s Robin Hood Prince of Thieves line, all they are are just kit bashed Super powers, Robocop, and Star War figures.

SprintHawk jet
Kenner: "does it come in black...?..."
Now I want to see a Batman/Silverhawks crossover. Quick, get WarnerMedia to contact . . . um, WarnerMedia. See if they could work with themselves. Better yet, Silverhawks on a streaming platform.
The media company is now Warner Bros. Discovery.
I love the silverhawks. A favorite ever since I was a kid. Still got a sealed quicksilver(a personal gem of my collection)
Yes! Toysplosion is back! 😃
Batman's motorcycle was ALSO from RoboCop's line !
Cool! Would love an episode on the new adventures of he-man and the demolition man figures being the same mold. Especially Stallone in his cop suit and a baseball cap, the vest is the same , and you can even see the H on his best left over from the he-man figure lol

He already did an episode on the Demolition Man figures. Check it out, it is pretty cool.
@@davee602 oh awesome ill look for it then
yes.... we need more content like this Dan!!!!! by far the most wholesome channels on youtube. love your channel
Great video Dan! I've had fun discussing this gimmick with you in the past.
My favourite thing about the Kenner Batman Dark Knight Collection was a "Sonic Neutralizer" which was fairly obviously an Imperial E-11 Blaster Rifle with a Batman logo radar dish stuck to the front. Good ol' Kenner.
Silverhawks was a super underrated toy Line & a very cool cartoon. Another great line from Kenner. Awesome video Dan
I heard the chrome paint chips easily from the figures.

I had that Batjet as a kid. I had no idea it was a repurpose! Thanks for the Toy History lesson, Dan!
Thanks Dan for the research and then all the extra editing for the video, I feel like I learn so much from your toysplosion series. Would love netflix to pick this up
Wow, I totally remember that Silverhawks commercial. Cool episode. Never had the Silverhawks toys but did have the Batman.
So great comparison video! Thanks Dan for your time and effort! Rock on! 🤘😎
I love Kenner's many reuses for toys! They reused so may parts across so many lines.
This is such a cool discovery. Thanks for the video Pixel Dan!! 👍👍
Love this series! You're the man Dan!
That was a great episode, thanks Pixel Dan
Love the haircut! You are so great I cannot wait to read your MOTU book.
Thanks for another awsome Toysplotion episode Dan!
I miss toy commercials. They went to together with Saturday morning cartoons like Cap'n Crunch and the Spider-Man spoon you dug out of the bottom of the box.
I had those Batman toys, but I never knew Silverhawks! Another great video!
Man, I want to go and collect Silverhawks and their Batfriends now. Love that line.
Man did I love the Batman Returns line.
I love and have all the Silverhawks, except for crazy insane priced Quicksilver and his ultra freaking expensive suit.
So do I.
(the girl)
Excellent video, Dan!
Dan, You are a true academic of toy history. Bravo!
Aww man.. I was really hoping to see that bat missile shoot from the silver hawk vehicle. Good vid. I remember having the bat jet, seeing the silver hawks version was a “ah ha!” Moment.
Wow that intro tune is nostalgia..nice vid too.
So sneaky but can't deny theres hundreds with this exact gimmick, it's cool when done right though :D
Give me that batmobile bat missile !!!! That bat jet looks pretty slick!! Gotta love old Kenner toys.
Fun stuff! It was also a gimmick used on the 200th edition Batman ... a Batman Beyond figure that was gorgeous to look at, but didn’t have much play value.
My favorite is the Dark Knight Collection figure that recycles a backpack from Sky Commanders.
Condor’s jet pack might look familiar as well if you’ve you’ve got a Tec Shield Batman.
I did notice that when I bought Condor sealed on card a few years go.
Yay! Great episode! That is one of my favorite Batman toys I had as a kid!
Oh yeah, it's just like that one time you pointed out the (New Adventures of) He-Man and Demolition Man figures. Still remember that line you said too. "Son of a Biscuit!"
Jacks Pacific was really great at this with its WWF Line of Action Figures.
pixel dan has gone full Taxi Driver.
I should have guessed by the FB post that there'd be a new episode. Also digging the mohawk + beard look!
same, he looks like an imposing 80s cheesy movie villain and I love it
I so happy for this... It´s something we all know as kids but never anyone talk about it. Even the Batjet from dark knight collection is the same ship for Quicksilver "sprinthawk"
Good stuff Dan... I knew about the wings.. but not bad cuffs...wow!
The Batmobile in the Commercial has the same Gimmick as Buzzard from the MASK Toyline
Dig the beard Dan. Keep it!! Love this Batman, wish I hadn't traded my Silverhawks half a decade ago... they just keep getting more and more pricey.
That silver hawk jet was also made into a bat jet I got for Christmas related to the batman 89 movie
Omg this brought me back i had all these at 1 time great vid
There was another batman ad with the vehicle also Mumbo Jumbo has the same gimmick as the bull alien.
Heh, Kenner re-using the Silverhawks jet for Batman reminds me of when Funskool re-used the GI Joe Stellar Stiletto for a Batman jet.
Great video. I loved Silverhawks. I think I only had Flashback and I think Copper Kid too. Flashback was amazing.
I bought Shadow Wing Batman back in 1990 and immediately made the connection.
The Quicksilver character reminds me of the superhero character from Terry Gilliam’s movie Brazil.
Neca needs to get their hands on Silverhawks license ASAP.
Hasbro/Kenner used the same skis/backpack from Ski Blast ROBIN for the unproduced MAY DAY from "G.I. JOE EXTREME line.
Now you know....and knowing is half the battle.
Battle-Cat is from an Action Man playset so hey, there’s definitely some worth to it
The Kenner Robin Hood line was basically all repurposed Star Wars and DC Super Powers Collection parts.
Is Pixel Dan trying to turn into Mr T ... first the mohawk and now the beard and moustache
the shadow wing batman was first released in the Kenner Dark Knight Collection from the 1989 movie.
Neat video. I know companies do this but I’m not turned off. Because they do change color techniques or gimmicks (like the hand cuffs). & it’s fun to find some & point them out. But remember the he-men. All had the same body. But each character had an identifiable color scheme, head and weapons. Thanks for the video
Loved Silver Hawks! Most of my friends don’t remember it. Maybe Super7 will give us some updated figures 🤞🏻
Is it me or is Dan slowly morphing into mr T
The first time I started noticing reused parts was when I got a Batman motorcycle and saw it was same mold as Robocop motorcycle.
Kenner really went out with a bang with their Batman figures. After that, I think they were fully acquired by Hasbro and I don’t remember hearing their name ever again.
The Jurassic Park and '90s Star Wars toylines were made under the Kenner brand.
@@dreamlandnightmare Oh yeah! I forgot.
Great video , I wonder what other toy lines reuse features and molds.
Silver hawks is 1 of the most COOL things in the world
really rocking the beard, dan
How dare you play that ear worm of a theme song. Now I gotta watch the opening. And I’m not surprised by them reusing certain action features considering how often they reused past body molds.
Oh sheeeeet I had that Batmobile as a kid.
Dang Dan!!! Cool new look. You look like a completely different human being. It was weird hearing your voice but seeing such a different face! It's really cool. You look like a heel wrestler in WWE! keep up the great videos man.
I remember these. They were dope a.f. ! Had mostly all of them .
I feel like Kenner was notorious for recycling molds on toy lines. Some more obvious than others.
The first time I realized it was with a toy horse that came with the TMNT 3 movie toys lol
Love the beard Dan!
Shadow wing Batman was for the 1st movie's Kenner toy line. Not Batman Returns.
I had both of these figures growing up!
Never watched the show just loved tht it was chromed out!!!!
Nice work there pixel Dan as ever😉 nice beard man
Part machine Part Real is an interesting tag line
Love this toy history video!!!
Kenner was crazy with action feature and part reuse. One need look no further than the Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves line for several famous instances of repurposing from both Super Powers and Star Wars.
And trap accessories from Bone Age, a more obscure Kenner line. The Sheriff of Nottingham reused a Robo-Cop villain head.
Please do this for the Gargoyles action figures. I swear I remember a few of them reusing features from other Kenner toys. The castle was a different mold, but very much had the Greyskull castle vibe. Even the small and large turrets lined up (funny being from a different company). And they had some flying jets that I believe also were reused, but I ant to say it was another line later that used the gargoyle yet.
Ahh man this takes me back!
Ewoks village= robin hood hide out
Silverhawks jet = bat-jet
Kenner/hasbro and playmates would buy old toy line or re-use their own lines for new toys
Another home run video, bro.
Loved this episode
I use to have silverhawks and thundercats pajamas.
Awesome new mohawk Dan. :D
Great video! Thank you!
