Wow, such a strange history! As a child in the 90's I never got into the troll dolls, and assumed the resurgence in popularity just came along with the other 70's stuff that was coming back into style at the time. Thanks for the interesting history lesson, Pixel Dan!
The Magic Trolls / Troll Warriors VHS and the Count Trollula I had were latent memories that you just helped me uncover. Always loved my Maxwell Stone Protector, too. Thanks, Dan!
I had that Battle Trolls Frankenstein Troll as a kid and LOVED him. Have no idea when or why I got rid of him and really wish i still had him 'cuz he's terrific.
Yo kid that's terrible Iv collected all the battle trolls got my doubles put away somewhere But if you ever do read this Message me would love to hook ya up with a Frankenstein I think I have doubles possibly U know nostalgia and what not I'm serious and in Nc
I had "Ramtroll" from the Battle Trolls line. Probably one of my favorite action figures growing up. More so in retrospect now that I'm familiar with the Rambo movies.
I have some of the Trolls, and Stone Protectors you showed from when I was a kid, bargain store purchases etc. I learned so much, I knew none of this. Really enjoyed this. Thanks :)
Very cool video Dan. I grew up with BATTLE TROLLS and STONE PROTECTORS myself, having collected a few from each series like TROLLMINATOR, NUNCHUCK TROLL, TROLLTIMATE WRESTLER (BTs) and I also had MAXWELL and CHESTER (SPs). I took them everywhere, loved the lines. Thanks again for another lock back at an awesome piece of my childhood and toy collection.
Fantastic video, I loved all these lines, I just recently watched your original Stone Protectors video! I didn’t realize they were all separate lines when I was a little kid, they all just went together and battled! I hope there’s more lines like this coming!
This is one of the many reasons why I love your channel, reminding me of toys from when I was a kid. I completely forgot that I had 2 of the Battle Trolls figures as a kid. The football player and the army troll.
Awesome video Dan. I have the Trollipular Destructo Blade in a toy chest in my parents basement and always wondered what toy it went to. Now I know! Keep up the great work!
Dan really, I can't tell you enough how much I like these special documentary videos. Even (as a nerd) I previously know most of the information, it is just fun for me, refreshing and all and all I always learn something new.
I had this weird pseudo obsession with Stone Protectors commercials as a kid but didn't necessarily want the toys, more of a TMNT fangirl. They initially freaked me out but also intrigued me, and decades later I still have the commercial rap and cartoon theme song memorized. I was not aware of all the copyright history behind Trolls dolls or that they were the same as DreamworksTrolls.
Loved the episode. If you do halloween theme videos this year, cover blood pumping toys. Tremor 3 from McFarlane hasnt been covered by anyone on youtube yet.
Oh mannnn, I used to have a VHS of Darby O'Gill we recorded off ABC, and it retained all of the commercials. That single showing alone had DOZENS of repeats of the Troll Warriors commercial, I still hear it clearly in my head to this day. Amazing trip through time here.
Any time that I see a new video on RUclips talking about Stone Protectors, it gets watched. I have such a strong love for that line, and I still have some of the action figures in their packages. They’re just so odd that I can’t help but love this attempt to be like TMNT...and the video game is super fun! I’d love to see a resurgence of those toys/franchise, but that’ll probably never happen. Oh well
Another great video, Dan! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I actually owned most of the Troll Force, Battle Trolls, and Stone Protectors. Partly because they were cheap, and partly because they all included wrestlers and ninjas. Oddly, I never had any Troll Warriors. I don't even really remember those, though seeing them now I really like them. I might have to look into collecting them in the future, and possibly reacquiring the other lines.
the stone protectors action figures are some of the all time greats. i was born in 1989 and they succeeded in making me a fan of trolls as a kid in the 90s
I had a couple of the TMNT troll dolls! I remember commercials for Battle Trolls when I was a kid, but in retrospect Stone Protectors were easily the best of the bunch. Troll Warriors is new to me though! Those look pretty sweet!
Great episode Dan very informative it was cool too know who was the founder of the infamous trolls. If you do have any time could you do an episode of toy explosion on the schleich figurines
I remember having a Bulls-eye and his capture net and Zink from Stone protectors, and I think Trollasaurus too. Also remember the angry looking troll like toys from quarter machines with string hair. They only came in like a singular color like blue with white hair. Btw your vid is what helped me identify Bulls-eye
I still have my troll dolls. I store them in a plastic bin on my shelf. My fave troll is my Dracula troll. I even have troll baby that came with a VHS of a short movie. Found it here on RUclips. Magic Trolls and the Troll Warriors. Edit - You mentioned the movie after I posted the comment lol!
I just recently started collecting vintage Dam and Russ trolls, never knew these "action figures" existed, but I will keep my eyes open. I would love to find some, they're funny! Thanks for the vid and the infos ♥
My brother and I had Battle Trolls. I loved the figures but them being so all over the place made it difficult for me to come up for stories for how to play with them. For example: I had the combat troll and my brother had the football player... that was tough for younger me, unless it was supposed to be a battle at the 20 year high school reunion lol
Amazing video! I love all the old school trolls. As a kid, I had a few trolls myself, as did my sister. My mom would also buy all the special holiday ones from like Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas and put them out each year! It's also fun to find them at flea markets and such, it seems my family and I can always find a few here and there. My daughter found Trollbot a couple years ago at a Tampa flea market and I found the Zok from Stone Protectors line at a vintage MLP convention, of all places, my family went to in Orlando. Now I want to go dig in my parents garage for my old trolls, lol.
I had maybe 2 tiny legitimate Trolls with pencils shoved up their butts, but I have a 20 gallon bin in storage somewhere that's crammed full of Battle Trolls and Stone Protectors. There's probably some Street Sharks in there too.
WOW! I remember seeing the Stone Protectors in the stores at the time. Do you actually have all those trolls and their animals? What does your toy display look like now?
Everything in the video you saw I own. I picked up a few extra pieces just for this video. Though, I've had all of the Stone Protectors for years. I love that line. :-)
I had a Count Trollula (Battle Trolls) and a Clifford (Stone Protectors) when I was a boy. I didn't know about copyright law back then and just thought Battle Trolls were made by the same people who made regular Troll dolls, and it never occurred to me that the Stone Protectors were based on Trolls. I never heard of the other two covered in this retrospective.
Really fun video PD. I only remember Stone Protectors and think rented the game. Sucker for a Side scrolling beat-em up any day. Some of these had neat designs though. The robot ones really look gnarly. Now I'm wondering what's another line that others borrowed to do figures from.
I crossed paths with this Troll character very early in my life because my mother loves cute/ugly characters, latter on during 1993 I discovered those Stone Protectors and bought the evil leader Zok which I still own in lose but mint condition, I never actually got into collecting these because I didn't like the design but I had to own at least one. Nice to hear about the story of how these famous Troll characters came to be, thank you for that Dan.
OMG I USE TO HAVE ONE THEM FROM THE 90's!!! One of them was a Twist'Em Battle Troll Green Haired Ninja that comes with various weapons, the other one had blue hair and was a Sargent Troll that comes with a gun and knife but they we're the soft hard plastic Troll Toys 😃😍💕💕💕💕
I had a couple of those Stone Protectors. "OUR STONES OF POWER GLOW!" Aaaaand I also had a bunch of the Troll Warriors. LOL 3rd edit. I had A LOT of these damn thing. Holy crap.
Wow thanks for the trip down memory lane it's been about 32 years and I was telling my daughters that I had trolls to when I was a kid mine wasn't as cute as Poppy the singing troll mine was much uglier and cool they did not believe me so before I took them to the bus stop I decided to go on RUclips and do a little search that's when I ran across your video I actually had the rock protectors I tried to get my grandparents to buy me all of them mind you they were sold separately to no avail I guess times was tight I was a huge teenage mutant Ninja turtle fan I had all of them their Pizza throwing van and everything I had a ninja turtle that was probably like 18 inches tall it was huge the good old days appreciate the vid bro it was definitely fun you sparked up a lot of nostalgia made me feel like a kid again if only for 3 minutes appreciate it 👏 oh yeah and Happy New years 🥳
I love these Toysplosion episodes! I know a lot of work must go into them, but these are the videos I come back to watch again and again! It’s a shame RUclips doesn’t reward the effort of this format more, It seems to favour quantity over quality. Really well done video, must have took a lot of research (and collecting!) Keep doing you thang! I’m looking forward to the book 😊👾💜
i remember having the blue troll when growing up. the one at 7:50. he was a great toy actually. i had a bunch of action figures but i really liked the blue troll with the yellow hair. i think i also had the wizard you showed. i had batman action figures, the x men, saint seiya, conan. and a couple of gi joes. and i had the most lego out of anyone i knew. my cousin collected transformers and toy guns that looked realistic back then (can't have that these days!!!) i also had a bunch of vehicles like robocops car, the batmobile and the alien ship from independence day. we got together and played
I have 2 Advent Calendars from LEGO that I’m picking up, but there is one advent calendar that is a hot item and is going for crazy amount of cash on eBay and it aren’t Star Wars
So these are the rascals that rotten tomatoes is blaming everything on.
I had so many of these... Particularly the Battle Trolls. Classic toys.
Awesome and i would love to see the Stone Protectors make a come back.
Awesome to hear! Thanks for watching!!!
I almost totally forgot about Troll Warriors! I’m going to have to start collecting those!
Dude.....about 3 weeks ago i went on a stone protectors binge. Ordered toys and watched all like 9 eps of the show hahahaha crazy timing.
Amazing! Funny how that works sometimes. Glad I could add to your binge!
Glad I’m watching this in the morning and not before bed.nightmares would have been brutal.
Haha!!
Holy crap! Thank you I was just looking for those troll warrior toys because I remembered having them as a kid
I had that Battle Trolls Frankenstein Troll as a kid and LOVED him. Have no idea when or why I got rid of him and really wish i still had him 'cuz he's terrific.
Yo kid that's terrible
Iv collected all the battle trolls got my doubles put away somewhere
But if you ever do read this
Message me would love to hook ya up with a Frankenstein I think I have doubles possibly
U know nostalgia and what not
I'm serious and in Nc
Fantastic video! You’ve brought back some good memories of these toys. Now I know why they never had a resurgence in the 2000’s.
I had "Ramtroll" from the Battle Trolls line. Probably one of my favorite action figures growing up. More so in retrospect now that I'm familiar with the Rambo movies.
Very awesome to see all the different Troll figures! Thanks for sharing the wild story of the Trolls! 🤘🏼💯👍🏼
These troll figures have given me an idea for something. Thanks for making this video!
I have some of the Trolls, and Stone Protectors you showed from when I was a kid, bargain store purchases etc. I learned so much, I knew none of this. Really enjoyed this. Thanks :)
Awesome!! Thanks for watching!!
@@Pixel-dan ❤
That's odd. Just picked up a few of these for my first time while out picking yesterday 💯🙌
It was meant to be.
Wow, great timing!!
I need a Trollasaurus, that thing looks awesome. Great video on a subject I wasn't terribly familiar with.
Pixel Dan enters the Galaxy Hole at last (to borrow a term from another toy reviewer).
Haha!!
more toysplosion please. I used to have Cornelius the Samurai and the baseball dude stone protectors. almost instantly lost all the weapons though
wow, I had that wizard troll warriors as a kid, never knew it was a line.
Love how the Battle Trolls also use the Sword that came with Ioz from Pirates of Darkwater
I would love a super-articulated relaunch of stone protectors, and maybe a new comic series!

Super 7 should do a stone protector figure line.
Haha! Oh man. Would buy.
Oh mannnn, I used to have a VHS of Darby O'Gill we recorded off ABC, and it retained all of the commercials. That single showing alone had DOZENS of repeats of the Troll Warriors commercial, I still hear it clearly in my head to this day. Amazing trip through time here.

I actually just got some Battle Trolls at a toy show the day this video came out. Great Vid as usual!!
Haha! Great timing!!
the stone protectors action figures are some of the all time greats. i was born in 1989 and they succeeded in making me a fan of trolls as a kid in the 90s
Thanks Dan, had no idea how may companies made Troll dolls.
I had a couple of the TMNT troll dolls! I remember commercials for Battle Trolls when I was a kid, but in retrospect Stone Protectors were easily the best of the bunch. Troll Warriors is new to me though! Those look pretty sweet!
Never was a fan of the troll dolls. But the history and legal battles were pretty interesting.
Awesome episode! Some of these lines I totally forgot about 🤠
Very nice video. I wasn't able to find informations that accurate about the copyright issues.
Toysplotion is some of your best work! Love it!
I really enjoyed that Dan thanks for that, toysplosion is such a great series I really hope you get to do many more!
Great stuff Dan, I was a big Troll fan as a kid, the normal ones and battle trolls. I need to review them sometime too
that Battle Troll at 10:12 looks like it's supposed to be their take of the white lion with the blue armor from Battle Beasts
Oh wow, I can totally see that!
Yes, love this kind of content! Great work! I have the Frankenstein Monster Battle Troll, so cool!
This was unexpectedly fascinating.
Great episode Dan very informative it was cool too know who was the founder of the infamous trolls. If you do have any time could you do an episode of toy explosion on the schleich figurines
Great video. I only ever had the werewolf from the Battle Trolls.
I remember having a Bulls-eye and his capture net and Zink from Stone protectors, and I think Trollasaurus too. Also remember the angry looking troll like toys from quarter machines with string hair. I just recently started collecting vintage Dam and Russ trolls, never knew these "action figures" existed, but I will keep my eyes open. I would love to find some, they're funny! Thanks for the vid and the infos ♥
I have two figures still on the cardboard, need it? :D
Thanks, but I usually buy my stuff from the fleamarket because it's super cheap there and it's fun to hunt down the stuff :)
Awesome! Happy hunting!!
Thanks ♥
Great video. I love well researched toy videos
I remember having them in early 90's
Love to talk troll. Always looking for more information on trolls to use on our guided tours of the Troll Hole Museum
My brother and I had Battle Trolls. I loved the figures but them being so all over the place made it difficult for me to come up for stories for how to play with them. I’ve owned little knickknacks of trolls when I was a girl in the 90s, but I truly think that the battle trolls are more interesting.
Yeah; very glad to see Toysplosion again!
I had the Stone Protectors set. Man, those were cool toys!
I really enjoy this type of video
Thank you!
Great video as usual Dan. Keep being an insperation and excellent content creator.
I had maybe 2 tiny legitimate Trolls with pencils shoved up their butts, but I have a 20 gallon bin in storage somewhere that's crammed full of Battle Trolls and Stone Protectors. There's probably some Street Sharks in there too.

Everything in the video you saw I own. I picked up a few extra pieces just for this video. Though, I've had all of the Stone Protectors for years. I love that line. :-)
Man, now I can only just think of that Internet Troll doll that Ashens showed off a few years back.
I had the orange and yellow one in the thumbnail lol I forgot all about this obscurity until finding this video lol
Zok from the stone protectors is one of the Coolest Figure i ever seen💪😲 I want that Guy! Thx for the Video 👍
Yes a new episode!
The TMNT Turtle Trolls are kinda adorable.
Toy hunting videos would be cool. Especially finding deals at garage sales or thrift stores.
Thanks so much for watching!! :-)
I used to have the fat green troll warrior action figure as a kid. I got it as a gift. My favourite was the blue one.
I had so many of the hasbro battle troll figurines i think i still have them stored in the basement ^^
Battle trolls are outta control
As a kid i had that red skinned version of that cyclops troll.
😔 I didn’t get to watch the whole video Dan 😭 I hope you re upload it brotha. Keep up the GREAT AMAZING WORK!
I had some troll bedsheets.
This is my favorite series
I wish I still had my turtle trolls, I had the whole set.
I love them regardless of how silly they are. :-)
Nice one, more of these please :)
You got it!
I shouldn’t be surprised that there are troll dolls in the galaxy hole.
I had a couple of those Stone Protectors. "OUR STONES OF POWER GLOW!"
Aaaaand I also had a bunch of the Troll Warriors.
LOL 3rd edit. I had A LOT of these damn thing. Holy crap.
Haha! I think we all had at least one of these silly things!
I'd totally be down if your channel becomes content more like this!
Awesome review 👍👏👌👏
Like some kind of repressed memory, you've forced me to remember that I owned a few stone protector trolls.
Love Toysplosion. Is there a master list somewhere of the episodes that have been done so far?
Troll Warriors!! I still own some of them... Greetings from Argentina.
Wow thanks for the trip down memory lane it's been about 32 years and I was telling my daughters that I had trolls to when I was a kid mine wasn't as cute as Poppy the singing troll mine was much uglier and cool they did not believe me so before I took them to the bus stop I decided to go on RUclips and do a little search that's when I ran across your video I actually had the rock protectors I tried to get my grandparents to buy me all of them mind you they were sold separately to no avail I guess times was tight I was a huge teenage mutant Ninja turtle fan I had all of them their Pizza throwing van and everything I had a ninja turtle that was probably like 18 inches tall it was huge the good old days appreciate the vid bro it was definitely fun you sparked up a lot of nostalgia made me feel like a kid again if only for 3 minutes appreciate it 👏 oh yeah and Happy New years 🥳

i had batman action figures, the x men, saint seiya, conan. and a couple of gi joes. and i had the most lego out of anyone i knew.
my cousin collected transformers and toy guns that looked realistic back then (can't have that these days!!!)
i also had a bunch of vehicles like robocops car, the batmobile and the alien ship from independence day.
we got together and played
I saw the Trolls animated movie, and it surprised me with how well done it was, and I think I'll check out the sequel this year. :)
I have 2 Advent Calendars from LEGO that I’m picking up, but there is one advent calendar that is a hot item and is going for crazy amount of cash on eBay and it aren’t Star Wars
Troll dolls for boys??!
You betcha!
Anyone remember that robot chicken sketch with the stone protectors?
Haha yep!!
My favorites were Ninja, Batman, Pirate, Knight and Rambo battle trolls.
