- Note: Make sure you can unscrew the fill plugs before draining any gear lubricant.
In this video, I show how I changed the gear oil in the transfer case and in
the rear differential of a 2010 4WD Jeep Patriot equipped with a CVT transmission. I also compare a small oil pump on a gear oil bottle and a single tube attached to the spout of a gear oil bottle.
Just did my 96,000 km service yesterday! Thanks for the great video. For other owners: On my 2017, the RDU fill plug was a 24mm. Two 946ml bottles of 80w90 was more than enough for the front and rear.
My 2011 was 24mm as well on the rear diff.
Mine is 24mm too. And man is it stuck on good…
INCREDIBLE!
Thank you sir, you have made my life far easier.
God bless you 🙏
Merci bcp on peut pas avoir un meilleur vidéo que ça !!
Thank you, (merci beaucoup). I enjoy all the Patriot how to videos you make.
Great work as always
Always try to remove the fill bolt first (especially if you reside in the rust belt). You don’t want to drain the fluid only to find out that the fill bolt won’t come out.
At 2:15 for the transfer case and at 4:02 for the rear differential you can see an image on the left side showing the specific fill plug and it is written ''Make sure the fill plug is not seized before undoing the drain plug''. As a mater of fact, when checking if the fill plugs are not seized, I have to loosen them before removing the drain plugs and I never had any problems in my life removing any fill bolts. Nevertheless, it okay to say ''try to remove the fill bolt first''. Thanks for helping the viewers.
@@mtlcarguy did the oil same on transfers case and differential ? Or they different?
@@kanifuavao4078 It is the same SAE 80W-90 API GL 5
@@mtlcarguyuick question! How many quartz it took to fill the gear oil and the transfer case?
@@elymannylem9126 As I can remember, I needed around 600ml in the transfer case and about the same quantity in the differential.
Thanks you !!!
Thank you 🙏🏽
