      Hey John, thanks so much for posting this. I have a Jeep 2008 that I can't afford to lose right now so this video helped with a lot of insight. Mine is reading a p0777 code high which says the pressure solenoid B is stuck open. I'll try to replace that myself. No one here with the 12 shops close by will touch a CVT transmission. I just hope this solenoid is the cause and not just an effect of my poor acceleration

    Awesome videos John! I have a 07 Dodge Caliber, with the griding noise right where the CV axles go in. The shop want's $2,400 to replace with a used 83,000 mile one. I'm inclined to change it myself, and after watching your vids I think I'll take it apart to see if it's the same problem. I don't need the core so I have nothing to lose by giving it a shot. @@JohnVHLife Hey John. Ok I had asked my wife to take the car to work on Monday and that it should be ok. BIG MISTAKE!! Freakin trans completely gave out. Today Sunday a week later just had the car towed to my garage. Going to start the project soon. My question - do I need that HF transmission Jack or will a regular work fine? Weld a bead around the center of the race where the rollers would normally be. The race will shrink after it's welded, then you can easily drive race out with a punch from backside. Then use that same race to install new race. It's the same process that is used on aluminum hubs on semi trucks. Aluminum expands differently than steel so if you're not careful knocking your old races out the new races could be loose and spin in the case. I've seen that several times.

  • @jeromewelch7409
    @jeromewelch7409 4 года назад +2

    Make sure all the grounds are tight on the transmission causing and affect ; loose grounds can be the cause of that effect there should be shorting straps between those cover plates keeping every piece of that transmission at the same ground potential...peace!

  • @Ka_Gg

    Thanks for the video. May be buying one of these junk jeeps and ripping into the trans. This helps.
    Also, if you don't have a press, another thing you can do is put the part into a freezer and the new bearing will tap on easily.

  • @tommyyates3440
    @tommyyates3440 6 лет назад +9

    Take an hair dryer to the race bearings. The aluminum case will expand and the the steel race will come out.

    John, If you have a bearing race pressed into a blind hole and can't pry behind it, weld a bead all around the inside of the race, on the flat bearing surface. Let it cool completely. After it cools ,it should practically fall out, or maybe with a little help. Watch out for weld spatter on critical parts. I learned this 40 years ago. It works on steel housings, not sure about aluminum? Enjoyed your video, hope this helps for next time. Jack from upstate N.Y.
