Changed my 2011 Patriot tran pan to one with a drain plug and loaded it with more magnets. 120k miles still not dead yet, but reminds me of a gocart sound wise.
I have a 2009 Patriot (same model). It came with a lifetime powertrain warranty. It was the last year that Jeep provided that type of coverage. My transmission has always been a little "winey", especially when getting up to highway speed or passing. I had the transmission serviced at 60K. My mechanic said there was a small amount of shaving in the pan (attached to the magnet) but he didn't think it was excessive.
Few months ago i bought a 2007 Jeep Patriot 4x4, transmission was grinding. Transmission only had about 3 quarts of oil. I change the transmission oil and the grinding went away. Look like the trans oil was never changed.
Ya.. the Dipstick is Universal for several Chrysler Vehicles. With the patriot, .. yes, U just put in until it hits the bottom of pan, then check. But, SEE the INSTRUCTIONS that come with it. Each VEHICLE'S Transmission is checked WHEN at SPECIFIC TEMPERATURE. It is TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED and tested While Running.
What’s the code on the cvt with crawl mode. I need to chance the transmission possibly. Idk it struggles to go forward or reverse. Hope is the transfer case.
I have a 2010 Compass Limited 2WD as a daily driver. Had it since brand new. Has 189,000 miles on it. Have not once replaced the trans or let alone changed the trans fluid. Mine is running strong as can be. I have replaced all motor/trans mounts. Replaced the axles. (added a little bit of trans fluid since i lost a little bit doing both axles.) shocks/struts, exhaust manifold was leaking did that. Alternators dont last, im on my 4th one now. All in all. The trans is the strongest point in this jeep. I have a heavy foot too so I am always taching it out at 6K RPMS. Ran it at 112MPH (the limiter) for 7-10 minutes straight one time, Got so damn hot my power steering sounded like it had no fluid but its just that the PS pump cranked so hard and got that fluid so hot it was bubbling inside the lines and the system. I feel bad for everyone with these issues with the trans. Mine has not caused one hiccup in the slightest. Guess I got the golden egg of CVT trans. I also had an 07 Altima 3.5SL bought brand new. Drove it to 286,000 on the same trans although I changed the fluid every 40-50K. Never had an issue. In my opinion, i think people just dont know how to drive a car with a cvt. probably always letting on and off of the throttle expecting it to shift which may cause it to start tweaking out but im not for certain just a guess. Theres my $0.02 lol
MaxxRussia I guess the 4WD Jeep Compass has a weaker transmission. I had to do the transmission in my 2012 Compass about two months ago and it was $4,500 and I was quoted as much as $10,000 from a local dealer to replace the transmission it it.
When your cvt goes it'll go. It most of the time doesn't give you much warning. Mine worked perfect until about 5 minutes it starting making a whine sound under acceleration and then wouldn't shift. I already replaced mine but that's my two sense.
You may not have to, the one has a mount on the engine you have to remove, but otherwise probably not. Depends if you can move it away from the trans enough to get it out

I replace my transmission in my 2011 keep Patriot for another one, and now it drives but slow, it doesn’t change, can you tell me what it could be? Some people say that I need to reprogram it.
I think you need to transfer the electronics from the old transmission to the new one, then you dont have to have it programmed, Otherwise, yes, youll have to have it programmed

Hello, I need your advice about an issue on my 2010 jeep patriot 2.0 CRD (manual) already. Sometimes there are popping (or air blast) sounds coming from behind of air blower and behind of cluster area. While the sound stopped after about two seconds, the heater isn't blowing hot air. Considering the possibility of clogging somewhere in the system, I cleaned the heater radiator with using chemical but nothing changed. I think there is some air in the system but I couldn't find the reason. What would be the reason and what part I should focus on? Thank you., Selim
Very good video to give direction. I wonder about what the noise actually sounded like. Was it like a growling noise, like a wheel bearing noise? And did it follow my vehicle speed? Instead of rpms. I have a noise on mine just trying to determine it. I know mine is not a axle or wheel bearing already. Also so how is it still doing?
Great videos indeed! I have an 11 compass I use as my commuter. The noise you’re describing started all of a sudden, it wasn’t gradual. I replaced my entire front end suspension including brakes last week and the noise is still present. It almost sounds like a worn out brake pad grinding against a rotor.. it oscillates. Barely noticeable at lower/higher speeds but very loud at around 20-30 mph. I hope I’m describing the sound I’m hearing well enough, would you say it’s similar to what you were hearing? I know it’s been 5 years but still worth a shot. TIA!

Changed my 2011 Patriot tran pan to one with a drain plug and loaded it with more magnets. 120k miles still not dead yet, but reminds me of a gocart sound wise.
Use the oil dipstick and grind or file a line for the cold or hot level of fluid before draining.

use a zip-tie for a dip stick, home depot & lowes have them cheep. buy ones used for a/c duct work. the dipstick bottoms off the pan.
Coat hanger or fence is cheaper. Hammer the end flat.
