    Installing the trans, tips and info on how I put it back in.. It went very fast, well under 4 hrs install start to finish! Looks like it works so far, fingers crossed it works for a long time!
    My wife loves the car, it is fun to drive, odd that the trans doesn't really shift gears, not used to that yet. But if works great so far. Its growing on me.

    Your the master. Did the same job on my 2008patriot. What I did was changed to a used caliber 2007 low mileage. My trani made a louder noise than yours. I still have the original transmission dismantle, hopefully some day I'll put it back together again, in the meantime it's running. Now I have a head gasket issue because it blew out the radiator. GREAT JOB,,😊

    Thanks for the great videos! I just did my daughters Patriot 4X4. A little more stuff in the way. The back transmission mount was hard to get at but all in all not a bad job. the toughest part I had was getting parts. You'd think with all the Jatco JF011E transmissions out there parts would be easy to find. I ordered three different gasket and clutch kits and not one of them came with all the right parts.

    The 1st time I drove a cvt trans. car(mother-in-Law's) I thought it was slipping and about to go out and It was a new car. After I researched it on line I understood. The belt and clutches remind me of a snowmobile, they're kinda fascinating.

    Transmission whines because it is overheating because no one tells you change the transmission cooler filter it is a cartridge filter in the side of the transmission not the one that's in the pan underneath that's on the side

    I am having a transmission issue with my 2012 Jeep Compass. It started as soon as I let someone that I know (who never drove an automatic transmission before) borrow it. It turns out that person was using the CVT like a standard transmission (using the AutoStick at inappropriate times, driving at high speeds with the 4WD drive engaged, and coasting in neutral from a high speed) and drove it for around 100 miles with the transmission overheat light flashing on and off. I know the person I lent the car damaged the transmission because prior to me lending them the car, the fluid was in decent shape (It probably had about 20,000 miles to go before I needed to change it) and now the fluid is burnt and there are metal shavings in the transmission pan. I was quoted $3,800 for the replacement and will likely be getting it done in a month or two (once I secure the necessary funds for the repair) considering that the repair is FAR less than the price of another comparable used car (late 1990s/early 2000s model used cars in my area retail for between $3-5,000 and need a fair amount of work most of the time).

    Fluid is $53 for 1.3 gallons at amaz. Can you estimate how much you needed to refill the unit? Great work on a subject I don't think anyone has done yet. Hope I never have to watch this because my tranny is grinding! As for replacing the bearing race, maybe a little heat on the case and races in the deep freeze or on dry ice. Usually drop right in without much pounding.

    I just changed my fluid and both filters. I wonder how much metal in the fluid is considered normal wear?
    It looked like aluminum powder mixed with oil??
    Probably not good.
    What about a manual trans swap?

    • @JohnVHLife
      @JohnVHLife  6 лет назад +1

      Some is normal, from what I read the magnets should have some metal on them. Not sure about the aluminum powder in the oil though. In these trans its constant metal on metal with that metal belt going onto metal pulleys
