  • This was a quick video I made detailing how I swapped out my combined projector headlight bulb on my 2016-2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT from the stock halogen lights to LED bulbs.
    The headlight bulb size is 9005. Some websites/references list the bulb size is H11, but it depends on the headlight assembly. If you have the projector assembly (with the daylight running LED light), 9 times out of 10 you have 9005 bulbs. Otherwise, it's probably H11. The easiest to determine this is to check your owner's manual or just pull out the bulb for yourself and read the description on it.
    The bulbs used in this install are:
    Sealight 4PCS Combo 9005+H11 White 6000K COB LED Headlight Bulbs 240W High Low Beam Kit
    sealight-led.c...
    The Bulb Size is also detailed in the video itself, and the LED bulbs are from Sealight

    Thanks so much for the explanation at 0.45
    This clarified my confusion a great deal.
    I got pulled over by an officer to let me know I had a low beam out.
    When I went to advance Auto parts, they said that I needed h11 low beams. ( I only got the 9005, and was going to get the h11 payday)
    I have very little knowledge about vehicles, and was surprised and confused when my low beam worked after I replaced the 9005.
    I feel much better knowing I did it correctly.

      Yeah man I have a love/hate relationship with my Cruze because the parts have so many variations versus the manual. Glad I could help!

      Absolutely. I get irritated when other users post half ass videos too. I need ALL the steps without shortcuts. I try to be thorough man I appreciate it.

      Absolutely. Sometimes the light fits the housing but you can't close the dust cover, which is stupid as hell. Double check before ordering and during installations!

    I wish you could rename every color.

      Agreed. They have some ice blue ones that I loved but the vendor went out of business due to covid-19.

    So the OEM dust covers went back on perfectly?

      Yes. The clearance was fine. No need for custom or secondary dust covers.

    Do you know how to change the led strip lights mine went out and idk how to fix it

      So there’s a few ways to go about this:
      1:) You can disconnect the headlight assembly and take the headlight apart, but it’s a real pain to do yourself because you have to take the entire front end off to get all the screws and fasteners that keep the headlights together, if you want the led strip on the inside for a stock look…but you will also need to reseal the headlight or water could leak inside during rain and damage all the components and blow the bulbs.
      2.) However, you can also run a strip on the outside and avoid all that (and splice the wiring into the same line the stock led is on) and cover up the bad led. I’ve seen it. It looks good if you take your time but you run the risk of exposed lights on the outside of the headlight so you either need really good adhesive or make the strip long enough to add fasteners where you can’t see them for a cleaner look. If one side of led light array is out already out it might look weird because one side might be brighter than the other so be aware of that too.
      3.) If you’re feeling generous you can opt to buy a different headlight assembly but they can get pricey. Or you find an OEM replacement at a junkyard. With this option or option 1 I recommend you take it to someone who does light installations, just because all of the work involved to remove the actual headlight assembly from the car body if you lack the right tools. Sorry for the long post I just like to be thorough as possible!

    We’ll wish I found this video before I bought replacements.. got the h11 plug and plays found out I needed 9005 🙄 and I love chevy but who decided to put so much shit in front of the bulb assembly

      They really did! But once you get inside the headlight and see exactly what the fitment is, Amazon and eBay have a bunch of different options to replace this bulb no hassle with a perfect size that fits over the OEM dustcap. Local retailers have these bulbs too but usually the crappy versions and costs about $10 more for no damn reason.

    So these will fit the base L model too right?

      I’m not sure to be honest. The best way to know for sure would be to pull the bulb out, but you have the same headlight assembly (w/the daytime running lights) I’m almost 90% sure they the same.

    Hey bro, were u able to put back the dust covers..?

    • @cruzecontrol2017
      @cruzecontrol2017  4 года назад +1

      Yes, sorry for the late reply. I replaced the dust covers with no issues. Make sure the bulbs you purchase have this design or you run the risk of bulky garbage that doesn't fit, and you'll have to get additional universal dust covers as well.

      I agree. I changed all those options to either red or white or ice blue, and silver metallic or black tint.

    Any update on these? Are they still working well for you?

    • @cruzecontrol2017
      @cruzecontrol2017  4 года назад +4

      Yes they are. I'm actually surprised. Also no tarnish or "sweat" on the headlamp assembly either. Keep in mind I bought these a year ago and uploaded the video maybe a few weeks after that 👍🏿

      Yeah they still work. I found a vendor with some blue lights, so I replaced them, but they NEVER went out the entire time I used them.

      Is it a Cruze LT or a LS model? Sometimes the body trim is different and the Cruze 2016-2018 has at least two distinct headlight configurations.

    It’s crazy that my owners manual said H11 bulbs but the actual bulbs in the car are 9005s lmao

    • @cruzecontrol2017
      @cruzecontrol2017  3 года назад +2

      Yeah it does. It also throws you off in the store too because some stores list the low level H11 bulbs for all trims. This is not the case if you have the projector type lights installed with the LED assembly
