2016-2018 Chevy Cruze LT Headlight Bulb Swap To LED Install & Removal
This was a quick video I made detailing how I swapped out my combined projector headlight bulb on my 2016-2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT from the stock halogen lights to LED bulbs.
The headlight bulb size is 9005. Some websites/references list the bulb size is H11, but it depends on the headlight assembly. If you have the projector assembly (with the daylight running LED light), 9 times out of 10 you have 9005 bulbs. Otherwise, it's probably H11. The easiest to determine this is to check your owner's manual or just pull out the bulb for yourself and read the description on it.
The bulbs used in this install are:

    I ordered the H11 but I’m confused.. do the Cruze bulbs have low and high in the same bulb? Or do I order separate?

      Depends on the trim level. Some of the them have high and low beams installed and most search engines erroneously give you the wrong trim level. If you can do the search by VIN number you can’t go wrong because sometimes their 9005s like in the description

      They really did! But once you get inside the headlight and see exactly what the fitment is, Amazon and eBay have a bunch of different options to replace this bulb no hassle with a perfect size that fits over the OEM dustcap. Local retailers have these bulbs too but usually the crappy versions and costs about $10 more for no damn reason.

    Thanks so much for the explanation at 0.45 This clarified my confusion a great deal. I got pulled over by an officer to let me know I had a low beam out. When I went to advance Auto parts, they said that I needed h11 low beams. ( I only got the 9005, and was going to get the h11 payday) I have very little knowledge about vehicles, and was surprised and confused when my low beam worked after I replaced the 9005. Do you know how to change the led strip lights mine went out and idk how to fix it

    • @cruzecontrol2017
      @cruzecontrol2017 2 года назад

      So there’s a few ways to go about this: 1:) You can disconnect the headlight assembly and take the headlight apart, but it’s a real pain to do yourself because you have to take the entire front end off to get all the screws and fasteners that keep the headlights together, if you want the led strip on the inside for a stock look…but you will also need to reseal the headlight or water could leak inside during rain and damage all the components and blow the bulbs. 2.) However, you can also run a strip on the outside and avoid all that (and splice the wiring into the same line the stock led is on) and cover up the bad led. I’ve seen it. It looks good if you take your time but you run the risk of exposed lights on the outside of the headlight so you either need really good adhesive or make the strip long enough to add fasteners where you can’t see them for a cleaner look. If one side of led light array is out already out it might look weird because one side might be brighter than the other so be aware of that too. 3.) If you’re feeling generous you can opt to buy a different headlight assembly but they can get pricey. Or you find an OEM replacement at a junkyard. With this option or option 1 I recommend you take it to someone who does light installations, just because all of the work involved to remove the actual headlight assembly from the car body if you lack the right tools. Sorry for the long post I just like to be thorough as possible!

    • @cruzecontrol2017
      @cruzecontrol2017 3 года назад

      Make sure you confirm that your model is the same as the one in the video first. As stated before, one side of the dome is longer than the other. Also, the dome light not going out could be a sign that one of the switches is not closed or in the wrong position. Make sure all the doors are closed completely, and that the dome light switch is set to the proper slot just to make it isn't anything else. If you can't do it by hand, use a plastic prying/trim tool (Walmart, auto/hardware tools) to pop it so you don't damage the roof or the dome light itself.

    This is a good dude for trying, but he did it wrong. There is a slot for a flat screwdriver on the clear plastic part. Opening the clear plastic part makes the entire fixture come out without prying it out. Thanks, but this is a wrong instruction.

    • @cruzecontrol2017
      @cruzecontrol2017 5 лет назад

      I mentioned that in the video but your idea works as well. With a metal screwdriver you risk scratching the finish or tearing the roof's fabric because it flimsy and delicate. A plastic or wood radio pry tool works just as well. Thanks for the input though.

    • @funkingitup1805
      @funkingitup1805 5 лет назад

      @@cruzecontrol2017 That's a good recommendation, man. My main point is that you are prying in the wrong place. The pry bar should never come near the fabric. There is a specific place on the clear plastic cover that has a pry location. This causes the clear plastic to unfold and the the whole fixture slides out by hand. Prying the fixture itself out like in the video is much more likely to break a tab. Still, thanks to anyone sharing how to do things.

      Darth Auto hah. Thanks. I just got them shipped to me after I bit the bullet. And worked inside and the side marker lights and the amber color light looks a little green to be now since it’s a 6k color white with the orange. So it looks a bit funky. But for the break light side marker light looks perfect. Matches the reaction time to the reverse lights when I unlock my car. And the normal bulb for the brake and signal looks even especially when it has to flash to welcome you to the car as you unlock it. Which I don’t mind that one not being LED. Some cars do need LED lights but for Chevys. Regular bulb lights look better in my opinion for signaling and braking. That’s just my opinion.
