The things I knew I would gain by leaving the church were so insignificant to what I actually gained, the freedom, happiness and purpose. I am a good person because I choose to be, not because I am so scared of the eternal consequences if I am not a "good person"
As a non Mormon raised in Utah I really sympathize with those who were forced into the the church by their parents leaving those people to feel like they’re trapped. If my kid wants to join religion when they’re 18, go right ahead, but at least I didn’t put that weight on your shoulders
Also, get out of here with this all or nothing bullshit. I personally don’t still believe in the Christianity, but so many people I know still worship Jesus and God in their own ways. Saying we would lose everything is not only erroneous, it’s harmful. It’s talks like this that made me worried to lose my family over the church, made me worried about losing my entire support system. Thank God my family’s more enlightened than you seem to be, Brother Wilcox. I’d be terrified to be related to you.
A lot of evangelical preachers profess to be prophets or apostles. Not the flex that he thinks this is. Honestly, I'll say goodbye to the homophobic, transphobic bigots in SLC with glee. They have kept this tradition and this people from goodness for far too long. The people of this tradition deserve better than those men that Brad exalts.

It makes sense. Many people who are “extra” educated are able to wiglgle their way in to thinking they are genius in EVERYTHING. Like if you have a phd in art history you may think you’re smart enough or know enough to think you’re a professional in biology. Not everyone…but smart people are stuck in a pride cycle. If they figure out they were wrong they tend to double down instead of admit they were wrong. Which just pushes them deeper and deeper into cults…like our favorite dude Brad Wilcox lol.
4:21"You have to see Christ through a pretty small window when you're stuck with just the Bible, so say goodbye to the larger window we have because of living prophets." I'm sure these men are great people, however, you're shaping the idea that Christ is insufficient without "living" disciples. Did we suddenly forget that "He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living" (Mark 12:27)? Yet again, we have someone overstepping their role as "mouthpieces" in the church and undermining God's supreme authority as the Creator. Praying for y'all tho. ✌🏽
I’m so tired of the black and white thinking. Whether anyone chooses to leave or stay, they also get to choose what beliefs and practices to continue. It’s not all or nothing. And people who do good things do count! Maybe not in the same way but God is merciful and knows our hearts.
The belief of the absolute infallibility of the church is amazing. Brad is exemplifying cognitive dissidence at the highest level not even willing to look at any discrepancy or wrong that the church has done. This is Christ church….Period!!! Don’t question it! But you cannot explain away the fact that nobody and even Joseph himself even knew about or even talked about having a first vision. Then 100 years later they insert it into the missionary discussions. Yet today we barely celebrated the 200th anniversary of that miraculous event that for the first many decades of the church no one even talked about let alone knew about. Hmm!! They tried to explain it away. Even going as far as saying that with the various variations put out by Joseph of his first vision experience that if he in fact had said the same story every time that would be a sign he was lying. Really??? In a court of law it would be the opposite. It would be a sign you’re lying.
What are these prophet/apostles fruit, they don't have any, they have words, that's it.. By they fruits ye shall know them, these men are the drunkards of ephraim

We've arrived at the end of his G.O.S.P.E.L. acronym and not one of them is about love or compassion. For me, this is a conspicuous absence. The Godhead one emphasized metaphysical traits over a loving character. The others emphasized dogmatic conviction and tribal affiliation over the calling of disciples to love their neighbors as themselves. How can you give a summary of Jesus' Gospel without mentioning this core principle underlying Jesus interpretation of the Torah?
I've been going, "belelehe" since he started this train wreck of a talk. Can't look away from all of him repeatedly talking about why people leave his church. Exmormons couldn't have summed up all of these reasons as well as Brad.
THE OLD: "Dare to be a Mormon, Dare to stand alone . . . Dare to Have a Purpose Firm, Dare to Make It Known." THE NEW: "Don't you DARE say you're a 'Mormon,' Don't you dare to use that name . . . 'cause Rusty doesn't like the term, and Rusty runs the game." Yeah, gotta have "continuous revelation," since God is forever vacillating, reconsidering, changing his mind about many crucial things. . . . right? Who knew God was so wishy-washy, indecisive, arbitrary and capricious, etc.? Right?
They say if the prophet ever leads the church astray he will be removed...SOOO, what happened to Monson, Hinkley, and all the prophets that have been removed from the earth. Did they lead us astray?
"L" stands for love, I assumed. Their theology evolves around claims of authority instead of the human nature though. This is quite simplistic and saves any intellectual effort. During my mission, an annoyingly intellectual man told me that the human has to be in the centre of any thought. He (or she) is the standard. After that, I had some discussions with my mission president. He said, the gospel is all about conformity to the church standards. That gave me a cringe.
The Mormon religion is not the only religion that claims to have "Living Prophets". What do you think the pope is to Catholics? Or the Patriarchs of the eastern orthodox churches to Orthodox Christians? In fact almost every Christian sect before the reformation had a spiritual leader in charge of it. Its not a new concept for Christianity and yet for some reason Mormons think they are the only ones that offer it.
Good bye elder Nelson, goodbya Joseph Smith, good bye Brigham young, bye bye Wilcox! Everyday I'm happier and happier that I left. People don't need your "spiritual guidance" or your leadership, . It bleed my pockets and made me feel unworthy every second. Now I am learning to love myself. My true self.
As a queer person, I am very happy to say goodbye to the top church leaders. BYE, Felicia!! And hello to living an authentic life where no one is allowed to define me except for me. Which is healthy and how it should be.
Good for you, traceuse! I think he is also a queer person desperately fearful of coming out, and cloaking himself in what he learned when he was young, refusing critical thinking, stuck in arrested development, working his whole life in this organization that tells him what he is is wrong. So he's been "white knuckling it" for years. You can, too!

Yeah, about that... It's not a thing.

No. "L" stands for Lying as in "LYING FOR THE LORD ". Mormon leaders are good in doing that well
These are 'Strawmen' arguments.

Sad that it's all about a religion and not Jesus Christ. Christ is The only way.
