That's because Mr. Wilcox believes there is no life or spirit or God outside of the LDS church. Just another church leader placing the idea that the church is more important than who God is; in reality, God is everywhere and anywhere. He's not limited to constructs of any and all manmade religions, period. Mr. Wilcox sounds like he's overstepping his role as a MOUTHPIECE and undermining God's role as THE CREATOR. Prayers for him and everyone who has been victimized with this arrogant belief. 🤍
It’s not true because God loves you and wants you to find Him. The God of the Bible doesn’t need you to have someone tell you what to believe. It’s all in His word.
@3:27 Notice how Brad causally infers the oft repeated criticism by Mormon Church leaders that Protestant/ Christian ministers are in their roles to make money (some may be, but most are not). I have never heard of a minister asking for an additional fee for the re-writing of marriage vows - has anyone ever heard of this? @4:05 Brad may have objected to the use of Mormon terminology in a Protestant setting, which he has a right to. However, his own beliefs should prevent him from calling this "wrong" as the 11th Article of Faith says: “We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.”
Isn't Brad's entire career built on mormons needing him to explain what the preachers are "trying" to say? I mean reinforcing the teachings making the leaders wealthy.
There is something seriously wrong with this man and the tiny bubble he chooses to live in. Breaks my heart that he is talking to young kids. Spewing foul lies. Talk about not having an open heart to the worlds changes, God (if that's what you choose to call it) may not change, but he (it) expects you to learn and become better than you are as to make a difference here. The whole thing about life here is change. We learn to change and open our hearts or die unlearned and tiny in the eyes of the universe. Good luck buddy.
Watching the reactions in the background from the four seated: Many self comforting behaviors, head tilt of enduring the bs, hand gestures of tension and release.... Surely there is MUCH more here to criticize than his very real racism. How about his sexism, his elitism... The man's ego should be making his head explode.
I know we're all mad about his comments about race and the priesthood (rightfully so) but, ya'll. did he REALLY just also say that everyone else is "playing church" and nothing they do counts? could he be any more narcissistic?
“They just didn’t have permission to say those words.” I have to have Gods approval to be with my family, even though the family is essential to His plan? Not even 5 minutes and I’m fuming.
DID HE REALLY JUST MINIMIZE THE BLACKS BEING WITHHELD THE PRIESTHOOD? Did he not have to submit this to a PR team before he shared it? Goodness....gracious...
Hey, at least non members are listening, even though it's looking for dirt. (He didn't say that BTW, he was referencing something much more profound, although it seems you didn't listen to the whole talk or you would know that.) BTW, Blacks could have the priesthood before '76.
@@m4oni no, he 100% said that. He completely glossed over the fact that Brigham Young was a bigoted, Prejudiced, and racist man and didn't stop people from preaching that blacks couldn't hold the priesthood. And then Wilcox instead tried to say that all other races were in the exact same boat (spoiler alert, whites have never been called the spawn of Cain). I have my own theories of why God had to withhold the revelation until 1978 but that's personal speculation. And by the way, I may have been listening for "dirt," as you call it, but my gf was in the room doing something else and started listening, and it made her uncomfortable and she asked me to turn it off. If this is the response y'all want your missionaries and leaders to evoke, keep going without changing anything my guy.
@@m4oni Hey, there wasn't anything "Profound" about what he said. Only racist garbage. Here's a direct quote from the talk that starts at 4:44. "Now sadly you live in a time where a lot of people get up tight about priesthood issues. It's one of the most glorious things we have in the church, and yet people want to sit and fight about it and get uptight about it. Now I don't mean to simplify a complex issue, but I sure thing we make it a little harder than it needs to be. 'How come the blacks didn't get the priesthood until 1978?' 'What's up with that brother wilcox? What, Brigham Young was a jerk? Members of the church were prejudiced?' Maybe we're asking the wrong question. Maybe instead of saying 'Why did the blacks have to wait until 1978', maybe we should be asking why did the whites, and other races have to wait until 1829?" You should be more worried about how you defend someone this awful than our no doubt _truly_ evil intentions.
And yet we are taught submissiveness so can't just stand up and say, "Wait a second there Brad. What you are saying is incredibly offensive and not to mention, incorrect." Just step off the soap box Brad... please
His argument is so painful faulty and transparent in its pandering. He is, per usual, trying to make it sound like the girls are so spiritual they don't need the priesthood. That the men are here trying to learn what we've got. Well, then, why the heck isn't there a bunch of prophetesses in the church's history. Riddle me that, Brad.
More importantly: If we're so spiritual we don't need the priesthood then why does every necessary ordinance in the church require priesthood power? Sure seems like I need the priesthood to hold a calling, get baptized, receive the Holy ghost, go through the endowment, etc. I need the priesthood for those things so Brad is lying though his teeth to say I don't.
This has got to be one of the most HORRIFYING talks I have EVER HEARD in my life. He bashes literally every minority, and ever other religion. Like it just kept getting worse and worse. Not to mention how incredibly flippant and arrogant it was.
First, I thought Brother Wilcox was really onto something when he started talking about “playing church”. I was imagining him talking about people sitting in our congregations feeling comfortable in the pews because they were checking off their boxes and their family looked the right way and they were being nice to everyone but they weren’t really seeing the inequity and pain of the people “in the margins”, not to mention the gifts and talents and perspectives they bring that the white majority needs desperately. People “playing church” were not following Christ (and our leaders’ charges to “root out racism”) by working to build Zion through equity work. “Instead of asking why the Blacks have to wait until 1978 to receive the priesthood maybe we should be asking why the whites” [DENIED them the priesthood? God didn’t!!] Read the documents. Joanna Brooks lays out the history of the gross error sand perpetuation of the priesthood ban in “Mormonism and White Supremacy” Instead of having compassion toward a woman who needs more info about the priesthood, Brother Wilcox served up snide remarks and recounts the story here with sarcasm. Is this what Jesus would do?
Every woman who wants the priesthood is angry, silly, and ignorant? Wow. Barftastic, Brad. I’m out, I’m happier, I’m better off. Without the priesthood. Not yelling at anyone, just doing my thing. This whole talk is gross.
“Just because somebody is angry doesn’t make them right” hahaha. Listen to your own advice and see if you can get Holland on board with that advice as well!
"How can you be mad at a preacher, they're nice?" Preacher getting roasted for being "nice" while joking about and explaining the bigotry and racism he holds dear.
That woman nor the woman who confronted him about the priesthood exists. All preachers, and this guy is a preacher by another name, lie at the pulpit with these generic stories. Never any real details. Just a non-descript incident. Politicians do the same thing. You can go to the Jehovah's Witness website and watch their preachers use the same storytelling tactics. Or find Evangelical vids on RUclips with their preachers using the same con tactics. Also, they all put on the water works when it suits their purposes. Like in General Conference. I have never been Mormon, but as someone who has observed these religions as an outsider it's amazing how similar they are, though their individual membership think their group is unique and special.
@11:05 A case of terrible reasoning. It's like saying to an ordinary member of the public "guess what, you can do something a police offer cannot do, you can perform a citizen's arrest". (A police office can of course make an actual arrest so would have no need to be able to make a citizen's arrest).
@@megankreuger he clearly does and has. He has given this very same talk over the last 4 years. You can find clips of this on r/exmormon. He has been favored by the church to even reach the position he currently holds. To say he does not represent the gospel is ridiculous. In fact the only reason we are having this discussion is because until this shameful speech was highlighted, this hateful nonsense would’ve been given and we’d be none the wiser. We’d still view Brad as an upstanding representative of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But now that this is in the public eye, members are all too willing to dismiss this man as not representing the gospel. Point blank: everything Brad said IS supported by church doctrine. THAT should be the red flag for any member who’s offended by this talk. If you ever needed your sign to get out of that cult, here it is 🪧
@@megankreuger I am a life long active member. We need to stop this "he doesn't represent the Gospel" bullcrap. He is a TOP leader in the church who until now was on a rocket ship accent to leadership. He is (was) considered a rock star in the church and has spoken in General Conference. The things he is saying is TAME compared to PROPHETS like Brigham Young, Joseph Fielding Smith, David O McKay, and others. Are you going to now say that prophets don't represent the church? Please stop with the intellectual dishonesty in order to avoid ownership of what our church leadership says. They need to own what they say or STOP saying it.
"Got a little nervous when my daughter started blessing the sacrament..." HARDY HAR HAR If that weren't cringe worthy enough, he then goes on to say that folks "do not have God's permission" to hold church. Just imagine going throughout your life actually believing that, and never realizing you're in a cult.
I mean what can one expect when they follow a religion that literally states, " 11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." 1 Timothy 2:11-14 King James Version The entire religion is based in patriarichal rule...I'm never suprised to hear a pastor speaking this way about women and this is actually one the biggest reasons I abandoned christianity.
When he tells that story about the woman who was upset about the wording of her wedding ceremony. I’ll take “things that never happened” for 100, Alex.
The women who did not know what the priesthood was...seems unlikely. But perhaps she was a friend of a member or maybe a new member. He was so rude and he didn't know why she couldn't explain it. (If this conversation even happened)
I can't believe those words came out of his mouth. If he's trying to hold people in the church all he did was give them more reasons to leave. Christ would never give this talk
Not that I agree with Brad, but be careful in what you say because you might find you are like him more than you think. Jesus taught plenty that people took offense to and could have been considered racist. You don't know what Jesus would say in a talk. Be careful I your own presumptions. Unless you are Jesus...are you?
4:55 "Instead of asking 'why did the blacks have to wait until 1978?', maybe we should be asking why did the whites and other races have to wait until 1829?" Any adult with integrity would have stood up and walked out of that chapel right there. What an arrogant, stupid thing to say.
Bo Turner, because people who were never the victims of discrimination and racism don't get to minimize the impact of discrimination and racism against others.
@@boturner8328 “racism towards whites” is almost always, in the case of America, Black People being put on an equal level with White People, and White People losing what used to be special privileges.
This video has only been up for a day, and it's already the most-watched video that has came out on this channel in the last 6 months (except for the Jessie Funk one, which it'll probably pass by the time I click on "Reply").
But wait, we're asking the wrong questions. We shouldn't asking about why death? But why life ends! /tongue in cheek. Why was Joseph most qualified to take everyone in this age up to heaven.
Everytime I hear about the tiers of Heaven that Mormon's aspire to I think....they are going to be sooo sad when they learn it is all BS on their death bed. So,I did all that for this nothing.....geeze.Give me a beer.
So far, this talk has been horrible, but this section takes the cake on being the most atrocious piece of this. I think this talk is going to end up backfiring in a big way. TikTok is going to show all these kids how full of crap Brad is here.
“You’re asking the wrong questions. Now, repeat after me kids. I am nothing without the church. I will stop asking questions. I will do as I’m told.” Sounds like a cult to me…
"I sat there in that protestant church as the preacher sealed them for time and all eternity." He's like wait... that's our scam! You can't use that! That's how we make our money!
Brother Wilcox. You messed this one up. Very bad talk. "Why did the whites and other races have to wait till 1820"? Wow. I love you Brother Brad. This was in a very bad taste. This talk sounded like he was just venting out of anger.
I get the anger vibe too. What’s he got to be so angry about? Some say anger is a response to fear. So what’s he got to be so afraid of? He says empty pews don’t bother him and inactivity/resignations haven’t increased so what’s the problem? Could be the YM presidency is tasked with slowing the flood of losses and to convince young men to spend two years and $10k on a mission. That ship has sailed.
@@DancingQueenie anger is a secondary emotion. Which means some other emotion had to come first to make him so angry. Not that anger isn’t a valid emotion. But this douche seems to have taken his anger out on this random congregation lol. Not the best outlet for venting bro.
Yikes, this talk was a train wreck. I love the classic redirection from answering if Brigham Young was a prejudiced jerk. Yes! He was! Just acknowledge that fact instead of telling black members they should be grateful they got the priesthood at all! He also insinuates they don't have faith in "the Lord's timing" if they feel anything other than gratitude when they were kept from the priesthood over a century after others because it was taught (as doctrine) that they were descendents of Cain and that the only was they would make it to the celestial kingdom would be as servants. Joseph Smith even had a black man sealed to him as a servant. Don't put that racist doctrine on God and His timing. Own it. Say they were flawed men and they were wrong. I taught Seminary for 4 years and never learned most of this back then. Relying on church sources alone will only leave you with an incomplete, rose-colored perspective. Do your research from a variety of reliable sources and come to your own conclusions rather than taking these men at their words.
That wedding story sounds like pure BS. I don't believe it for a second, but it would hardly be the first time a mormon leader would make up a story to try to prove some lame point.
These kinds of attitudes are what pushed me away from the church. It wasn’t the draw to “sin,” it wasn’t laziness, or lack of desire. It was an increased awareness that the church is mostly made up of leaders who are power hungry and have no understanding of the real world, who get let off the hook for things that push regular members to the outskirts of their Mormon societies. The church ended up being against my personal moral code. So sad, and so hard, but it’s pretty clear I’m not the only one.
And honestly I personally feel like there’s nothing wrong with the choice you made. One thing I hate about church culture is how much stigma revolves around nonmembers and in-actives. I had a professor at BYU tell the class that as an LDS psychologist she has helped people actually step outside the church in order to relieve them from the soul crushing guilt and trauma that comes from being forced to stay in a place that is so toxic and abusive. Leaving the church is thought of as such a grievous “sin” but at the end of the day I think it’s a load of BS and God would want his children to do what they need to in order to be comfortable. I seriously hate church culture. It’s absolutely disgusting. Good for you for doing what’s best for you!!!
I wish there was a way to verify all these guys ‘ stories. I doubt that happened at the University of Wyoming. I doubt a woman came up and yelled at him not knowing what the priesthood was. But it makes for good lessons
One of the question someone should have asked: When did you met that women? Where did she stand exactly when she yell ed? How was the weather? What hair color? What age? How tall was she? Did she wear earrings? If yes what kind of earrings, how did her voice sound like, did she speak with an accent, was she there with friends, are there any additional witnesses? ....
I have enjoyed some of Bro. Wilcox's insights about some things in the past, but he seems too comfortable here, as if he might be speaking to an audience of fellow affluent white people. Very flippant and frankly insulting.
Oh come on... Having the Priesthood IS just like having Malaria. You just don't know that you've had it until it's gone. Haven't you learned anything from this speech?
Can’t say “You don’t have the *gift* of the Holy Ghost, so you are missing out” AND say “Girls you have *access* to the priesthood, be happy and keep quiet.”
Is it possible for a single woman to be an ordinance worker? I thought they had to be married so they could officiate by virtue (on the coattails) of the priesthood of their husbands.
There have been some great talks given in the last few years concerning this. The Pruesthood has nothing to do with their husband's. The priesthood isn't gender specific. Yes you can without being married or having been married.
Holy crap...this is so cringeworthy. There's nothing that keeps me from going back to church like a talk trying to explain away all the really bad stuff that made me leave the church in the 1st place. #stillnogoodanswers
He jokes about his daughter pretending to bless the sacrament. He's a little arrogant, quite frankly. How tragic that he didn't see outside his own point of view- in literally ANY of the experiences he shared.
Your way of thinking of the blacks and the priesthood ban is atrocious. The argument to think of it instead as “How come the whites and other races had to wait to 1829” is baffling and actually brings tears to my eyes hearing someone with a position of “authority” to say it so casually. The church tries hard to makes steps away from this, you just took big step backwards.
P. P stands for Pathetic. This is a pathetic attempt to divert questions away from some core issues. Perhaps a better question is Given that JS gave black men with the priesthood, why did Brigham then prohibit black men from holding the priesthood?
This talk made me physically nauseous and I'm embarrassed to be a part of this organization where it's leaders treat marginalized groups and their ally's with this much dismissiveness and blatant bigotry.
Everybody has to make their own decisions, but you don't have to give this organization the power it claims to have. I hope you eventually come to a place where you feel you can walk away.
What do women miss out on by not being allowed to hold the priesthood? The ability to EVER be in a position of authority over a man. Regardless of skill and ability.
@@yosemite735 the Bible also states that slaves should be obedient to their masters. If that is a problem, Christianity is not for you. If that’s NOT a problem for you, then maybe this century isn’t for you.
This is where i’m going to exercise my personal AUTHORITY given to me by God and say “Nah”. There is nothing wrong with asking these questions. Raise critical thinkers, not “lazy learners” 🙄🙄
Lmao “Maybe we are asking the WRONG questions!” Is a great way to not answer the actual question while making it seem like you definitely answered the question.
Yeah it really reflects poorly on you that you don’t completely and utterly defer to the men in your church. You’re entitled to your feelings and personal authourity (unless it makes your leaders uncomfortable of course in which case you are surely doing something wrong)
This is the most appalling talk I’ve ever heard! So gross! Please educate yourself on whataboutism, religious bypassing, proper terminology… it is not appropriate to refer to a group of people as “the blacks”, the tone is appalling and the fact that you are speaking these words in Utah which has recently made headlines for the racism problems they are having in schools makes this even worse! Jesus Christ preached empathy, this is NOT empathy in the least or even remotely close. So we had to wait for the Oreos this to be restored, why did black people have the priesthood taken away after waiting the same time frame and having received it? What had the church disavowed the racist theories preached as reasons for the priesthood and temple ban? This is so unacceptable, I withdraw my sustaining of you as a general authority. I have three young men and would not approve of them listening to this talk.
With BIPOC members in the US low in numbers it is not a surprise with things like this. Seriously I can’t stop thinking about this and it is making me physically I’ll.
What’s the appropriate SJW buzzword to refer to folks of elevated melanin then? It was Negro, then black, then Afro American, then African American. Oh yeah colored people too, but then that was racist, well except for that National Association for the advancement of said colored people. That’s ok apparently.
@@yosemite735 bruhhhhh she really just said “educate yourself” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that’s a hallmark of someone who can’t defend their opinion so they just throw out the ad hominem that you’re just stupid so I’m not gonna waste my time explaining it to you. 🤣🤣🤣
Brother Wilcox. Your famous talk on the atonement changed my life in so many ways. Those are the type of messages our youth need to hear at this critical time in history. Sometimes I wish the prophets and apostles would simply apologize for these sensitive subjects like race, women and priesthood, church history, etc and focus on how we can move forward as a church united instead of divided. My heart aches as I’m starting my own family now. I want my children to know that they never should feel shame at church. If they do, they don’t have to sit and take an emotional beating for the sake of an imperfect church leader. I hope we can all do better, it has been a long 2 years.
Why would they apologize when the prophet is supposed to be God's mouthpiece? Follow the prophet, never question. If God is the same today, yesterday, forever how could these prophets get it so wrong to where you need to apologize. Either God was wrong and the prophet was following God or the prophet was wrong and not following God. If the prophet was wrong and no God's mouthpiece you have nothing but a very problematic religion. But go apologize. You'll keep doing that according to social pressure of societies new norms.
Are you expecting LDS Church Leadership to be perfect and never make a mistake? The only person on the earth that was perfect and that was Jesus Christ. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. Just pick yourself up and keep trying. That is all that is expected.
This entire talk is disgusting and harmful. Our poor babies are sitting through this. Our 12-18 year old. Being literally told you are stupid if you don’t believe in Joseph smith but believe in God and Jesus. It’s no wonder Mormon kids and teens are some of the highest depressed and anxious kids in the world
He thinks he’s being funny. It’s actually pretty immature & super cringy. Leaders should be testifying of Christ & teaching gospel principles, not spewing personal opinion & ignorance. Also, people can ask any question they want , saying some questions are ok or not ok, is not ok & pretty manipulative. His intent might have been good, but his execution was painful.
Every single thing he said about the gal who was getting married was soooo terribly. He tells her maybe she shouldn’t marry her fiancé. (Uh why would that be any of his business?) And then she says she is mad at the preacher. “Why are you mad at the preacher? Their nice!” (Totally discrediting her feelings and decisions yet again.) Like Eeeewww! Toxic man!!
Watch the lady behind him. She gets visibly uncomfortable fidgeting at about 5:35 when he mentions "the whites" having to wait for the priesthood, then again at about 6:32 when he talks about girls not having the priesthood. Very interesting to watch.
This is some of the most cringe crap I’ve ever seen. If you think this man is being inclusive and progressive think again. You don’t choose your convictions. I am just thankful Mine are right 😂🍻
In the New Testament; Luke talks about women not being married after death! He also references the prophetess, Anna! When you think of all the contradictions with christ and Joseph Smith, (the WoW, the sabath, being non judgmental) how can they call themselves the church of Jesus christ??
Brad Wilcox is so righteous that his kids played “church” when they were young? Unlikely. And why did he get nervous when his daughter tried to bless the sacrament? Priesthood authority is one thing, priesthood power is another. There was no priesthood power in this talk. There was no trace of the Holy Ghost in this talk. There was no love of Christ in this talk. That’s why that girl didn’t want to meet the missionaries. You’re not doing God’s work Brad. The Spirit is not with you. Authority doesn’t automatically bring power. Power comes through humbly seeking God’s will. It’s clear you’re not doing that. It’s clear the stake leader who kept grabbing his head during talk felt that too. You don’t speak for God unless you speak by the power of the Holy Ghost.
You have questions? No no. Let’s just change the question. He’s just soooo awful. Can’t wait to see what they do with this on TikTok. Gotta love the guy in the blue mask holding his head.
It surely discourages youth to ask questions, ever. Like saying, "Oh your question is wrong" completely invalidating someone's logic and feelings. Here's the thing, in a true church, there would be no wrong questions because they could all be answered.
As someone who has had personal conversations with Brad Wilcox, this talk was truly surprising and seemingly out of character. I'd be more embarrassed if I had not made the decision to distance myself from the day to day buzz of the church and abandon any minuscule notion that leaders are somehow 'more inspired' than others. They are people, just like everyone else. They make stupid decisions, just like everyone else. I just wish we as a church would stopped trying to justify or explain away terrible things of the past. If the BOM is true and God himself can tell us that, it doesn't matter what JS or BY or any man did. GOD can literally tell us if it is true or not. I don't know how anyone stays in the church without coming to the realization that church leaders can sometimes be assholes and nepotism, favoritism, ego, etc can affect church callings just like anything else.
My still active siblings completely bought the LDS’s gaslighting of both JS and BY. It’s like it never happened and now doesn’t matter what they said or did. Granted, this is typical behavior out in the rest of the world but I’d have thought god might put an end to it in his church. Lol (edit: you might be too young to remember that speaking “against” what JS and BY said or did was heresy. Really heresy)
When I say American / Utah Mormons are a different breed…this is what I mean. Never in my life as an Aussie Mormon have I heard such toxic and demeaning rhetoric spewed on the pulpit. When I meet some American missionaries with their extreme views I question why they are the way they are - but if this man is giving a talk to the youth - and this is what he’s “inspired” to say - no wonder - the youth are in trouble. I hope this situation helped him to step back and realise how wrong he is and I hope he is truly humbled by God. Remember, the Gospel of Christ is perfect - it’s people are not. But that doesn’t make it any easier when you know men like this have a lot of power in the church. Makes you pray a lot harder at night.
Those Utah 'mormons' (and I know this is a generalisation) are something else again. I have spent quite a lot of time over there and, good as they are, they are also globally unaware and culturally stunted. It's a terrible shame that this awful video might be considered to speak to and for us all.
I agree. Men and women make up this church. They are fallible humans at all positions held. The gospel IS perfect & CHRIST IS perfect so we have to always remember that when judging what we call the “church”. Ppl always say I left bc so and so or I didn’t like what so and so does but that’s ppl and not the gospel. Yes ppl make up the church but you have to remember the principles and foundation to hold onto the truth of the gospel. 💜
if you continue to give your time, effort and ESPECIALLY money to the LDS church, he does speak for you. You employ him, through your tithing, to speak for you.
This is sad 😔. I've always had respect for my LDS neighbors and admired the family oriented aspects of their faith. After watching this, my prospective has changed... 👎.
I am LDS and a lot of what he says here is not what we actually believe. This talk was way out of line and there are so many members of our church who are outraged by this. Don't let this one talk change your perspective of your neighbors. They are still good people!
What’s malaria? I don’t know but the women should have it! What the F*CKKKKK!!! The priesthood is like malaria?? Yeah I guess. Oh my gosh just this whole talk makes me SO angry!!
His sarcasm and making fun of and making light of other religions, women and Black people in the church is SO horrible! His attitude and the doctrine of the church is hurting many people. I'm sorry for everyone who is affected, both those who are being taught this and know no other way and those who hurt from it.
Liar liar liar, I am not surrounded by Priestood. I've been alone for over 30 years. I'm ignored by my Priestood leaders because I refuse to pay tithing and fast offering. It's all based money, money, money!!!!!
"Girls" you will go to a temple and swear obedience to your husband while bowing your head. You don't need the priesthood because you will be his priestess.
@@kristyo1645 right! My parents pantomime their own suicide/murders while swearing those oaths in a mormon temple. Now Satan just threatens you in the video. They still conceptually demand and teach obedience to your husband and that you are worthy of death for breaking those promises.
The speaker has that alcoholic tendency to place great emphasis on words or expressions, and we are not sure why. He has that weird sort of theatrical voice that is sometimes very soft, almost as if he is sharing a secret, and then is suddenly threatening and shouting as he bangs the pulpit. He gives the audience that very uncomfortable feeling of not knowing whether to laugh ( politely) or not. The whole thing is very oppressive, and those sitting behind him seem crumpled in despair. The wedding story is fake: He needs to be asked in which church the wedding took place, who the Pastor was, if he really did charge for changing the words of the ceremony etc. The words he attributes to the young woman also sound made up. Under closer examination his stories would crumble like those of Paul Dunn. He may need help. His behaviour maybe the result of unreleased traumas or deep repression, which he is trying to release through alcohol and melodrama.

@4:05 Brad may have objected to the use of Mormon terminology in a Protestant setting, which he has a right to. However, his own beliefs should prevent him from calling this "wrong" as the 11th Article of Faith says:
“We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.”
Isn't Brad's entire career built on mormons needing him to explain what the preachers are "trying" to say? I mean reinforcing the teachings making the leaders wealthy.
Yeah… the “additional fee” is very hard to swallow. In fact… 🤮
Because they do make money.

It's one of the most glorious things we have in the church, and yet people want to sit and fight about it and get uptight about it. 'What's up with that brother wilcox? What, Brigham Young was a jerk? Members of the church were prejudiced?' Maybe we're asking the wrong question. Maybe instead of saying 'Why did the blacks have to wait until 1978', maybe we should be asking why did the whites, and other races have to wait until 1829?" That the men are here trying to learn what we've got. Well, then, why the heck isn't there a bunch of prophetesses in the church's history. Riddle me that, Brad.
More importantly: If we're so spiritual we don't need the priesthood then why does every necessary ordinance in the church require priesthood power?
Joanna Brooks lays out the history of the gross error sand perpetuation of the priesthood ban in “Mormonism and White Supremacy”
Instead of having compassion toward a woman who needs more info about the priesthood, Brother Wilcox served up snide remarks and recounts the story here with sarcasm.

That woman nor the woman who confronted him about the priesthood exists. All preachers, and this guy is a preacher by another name, lie at the pulpit with these generic stories.

While the race remarks were the most egregious, let's not forget he invalidated every other faith in the world by comparing it to "playing house."
He isn't wrong.

Girls, (and everyone else) listen closely: RUN!
You can really tell the sister in the background got really uncomfortable when he started talking about Women and the Priesthood lol.
This is some of the most cringe crap I’ve ever seen. If you think this man is being inclusive and progressive think again. You don’t choose your convictions. I am just thankful Mine are right 😂🍻
The guy on the right looked STRESSED during that
Has this church ever had a black leader/minister?
How did they get away with not letting black people join their church for so long?
In the New Testament; Luke talks about women not being married after death! He also references the prophetess, Anna! When you think of all the contradictions with christ and Joseph Smith, (the WoW, the sabath, being non judgmental) how can they call themselves the church of Jesus christ??
Don't forget the prophetess Deborah in the Old Testament who led Barack. Maybe thats the real reason Mormons don't like Obama lol.
Why does it go black after 12:30? Where's the rest of the video?
It's been split up to avoid copyright violations.
He said "What the heck!" In sacrament!!!! 😂😂😂😂 I can't! This guy is out of control!
🤣
Bingo, you are correct
My still active siblings completely bought the LDS’s gaslighting of both JS and BY. It’s like it never happened and now doesn’t matter what they said or did. Granted, this is typical behavior out in the rest of the world but I’d have thought god might put an end to it in his church. Lol
(edit: you might be too young to remember that speaking “against” what JS and BY said or did was heresy. Really heresy)
“ We have to have the Priesthood” But we don’t have it in the church, according to D&C the church lost it back in 1841. D&C 124
Not even a little bit true
This is sad 😔. I've always had respect for my LDS neighbors and admired the family oriented aspects of their faith. After watching this, my prospective has changed... 👎.
I am sorry you were fooled by their fake appearance. That's what Mormons are good at: creating a mirage while hiding all the dirty secrets.
@@eastcoastguy_0803 It's all just a mask. "Fake it til you make it."
Prospective. 😂
I am LDS and a lot of what he says here is not what we actually believe. This talk was way out of line and there are so many members of our church who are outraged by this. Don't let this one talk change your perspective of your neighbors. They are still good people!
Your neighbors are probably good people trying to live good lives who have been lied to and deceived and don’t know it. 🤷♂️
What’s malaria? I don’t know but the women should have it! What the F*CKKKKK!!! The priesthood is like malaria?? Yeah I guess.
Oh my gosh just this whole talk makes me SO angry!!
Given the option of the two, I think I'd take Malaria!
His tone and demeanor are giving me Kenneth Copeland vibes.
Exactly!!!
So real!
"I got a little worried when my daughter started blessing the sacrament" Wow a little dig at equality for Women?
"Girls" you will go to a temple and swear obedience to your husband while bowing your head. You don't need the priesthood because you will be his priestess.
ah old fashion sexism
@@theservicedragon I believe it was old fashioned even for the 1800s when they kept getting kicked out of town for being sexual deviants.
They changed the wording.
The next generation won't know it used to say that.
Just like my generation didn't know the changes made in the 1970s.
@@kristyo1645 right! My parents pantomime their own suicide/murders while swearing those oaths in a mormon temple. Now Satan just threatens you in the video. They still conceptually demand and teach obedience to your husband and that you are worthy of death for breaking those promises.
Man some good anti-LDS stuff there. Sounds like you found a good opportunity to share some of your bigotry. No offense taken.
What a pompous, prideful man.
No...not just because she's loud. Because she stands for equality over patriarchy.
Members give ten percent of their income and can’t even watch an ad free video 🤣🤣
And they pop up at the worst times too! 🤣💀😭😭😭
This isn't published by the church. You have eyes right?
This man has a PHD?? Who the hell gave that to him?
