      Godhead
The first article of faith of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints states, “We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.” These three beings make up the Godhead. They preside over this world and all other creations of our Father in Heaven. Latter-day Saints view the members of the Godhead in a manner that corresponds in a number of ways with the views of others in the Christian world, but with significant differences. Latter-day Saints pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. They acknowledge the Father as the ultimate object of their worship, the Son as Lord and Redeemer, and the Holy Spirit as the messenger and revealer of the Father and the Son. But where Latter-day Saints differ from other Christian religions is in their belief that God and Jesus Christ are glorified, physical beings and that each member of the Godhead is a separate being. The true doctrine of the Godhead was lost in the apostasy that followed the Savior’s mortal ministry and the deaths of His Apostles. This doctrine began to be restored when 14-year-old Joseph Smith received his First Vision (see Joseph Smith-History 1:17). From the Prophet’s account of the First Vision and from his other teachings, we know that the members of the Godhead are three separate beings. The Father and the Son have tangible bodies of flesh and bones, and the Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit (see Doctrine and Covenants 130:22). Although the members of the Godhead are distinct beings with distinct roles, they are one in purpose and doctrine. They are perfectly united in bringing to pass Heavenly Father’s divine plan of salvation.

My grandfather was a physicist who didn’t believe in God. He seemingly had a rational scientific explanation for everything. As he got older he shared with me that the more he tried to disprove the existence of God the more evident it became to him that God exists. In his final days he took solace in the fact that through his younger years of trying to disprove or explain away the devine God he actually proved his existence. Once he retired sometimes I would see him sitting for hours upon hours reading and studying the Bible when I would go visit him and my grandmother. He wanted to learn all he could about his creator. He would try to read anything he could get his hands on pertaining to Jesus Christ. His prayers were very important to him.
He was always a kind and funny person, but I noticed over the years after he found God he had this spark of life in him and he appreciated the nuances of life more. The man went to his grave baptized and a firm believer in God and his only begotten son. His life's journey had taken him home back to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All praise be to God the Almighty, through him all things are possible.

It is amazing how many people cannot think clearly. How does a god cope
with a constantly changing world from one second to the next? He must have
many people processing the information. It is all hogwash, even educated
persons can have strange views. The human brain is much too complicated
to fully understand what some people are claiming.

    • @marcosolo6491
      @marcosolo6491 4 дня назад

*"He makes a strong case for God"*
Nobody made ANY remotely valid case for gods/magic in the history of humanity. The problem is, even the biggest expert on ANY real field of study has no more information than any drooling idjot about what they call the "supernatural", the magical kingdoms, the imaginary krap they claim to know that is beyond what they know. Lemminging to some ancient tale or another just gives some people, especially those who grew up in that particular culture of superstition, some kind of warm and fuzzy feeling of belonging. That's it.
There has yet to be a mathematical or scientific paper that ends with the sentence "therefore there must exist a god that demands you that you buy your slaves from neighboring nations, and demands slaves to obey their masters, even the cruel ones. QED"
All the cults and religions that various groups of peoples believe, or at least pretend to believe, today will be extinct at some point in the future. ALL. WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Just like all the other cults and religions that came and went before them. Because none of the cults and religions are founded on anything tethered to truth or reality, they are all "someone said so". Sure, humans may keep making up new cults and religions, but my personal guess is that that process of making up cults will keep slowing down, and cults will find it harder and harder to attract critical numbers of members. Monotheism will probably end up being another phase in how humanity dealt with ignorance, such as animism and polytheism. Only fools believe they live at the end of time and at the center of the universe. Christians, muslims, ...etc find it hard to comprehend that their cherished cults follow the same cycle of birth, growth, stagnation, decline and death as any other meme/fashion in history. Christianity is already on the decline. Islam is younger and in the early stages of stagnation. In 2000 years, humans will look back onto them just as we look back onto Greek or Roman gods; as historical mythology.
As has been said, if you destroy all science books and knowledge today, future generations would, although not necessarily at the same speed or order, rediscover everything exactly, as science is grounded on external reality. However, if you destroy all religious books and beliefs, NONE of them would emerge the same way, as all of them are fiction. Even today, there are thousands of versions/denominations of the fiction of christianity.
Lennox believes in magic sky daddies, Nikolai Tesla believed a pigeon was in love with him, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was fooled into believing in fairies after having seen photographs of a couple of kids holding magazine cutout fairy drawings as they posed in a garden. Otherwise smart people in their own fields can fall for all kinds of BS. Does Lennox have a paper that proves the disgusting fictional god of the bible, or any magicians for that matter? No. End of story.

This is a faulty conclusion, choosing only between atheism and Christianity - as a non-spiritual or spiritual reality.
There have been virgin births and resurrections of gods BEFORE Christianity was developed and the bible was constructed. Just because the bible is the furthest spread story doesn't make the birth or death or resurrection of Jesus any more special than previous, miraculous stories.
One can absolutely believe in "the Divine / a higher entity" our human mind can never fully grasp WITHOUT believing in Christianity. ALL spiritual scriptures across the planet are mere attempts to grasp this "Divinity", without ever fully reaching the absolute truth.
Certainly, holy scriptures around the globe have an inspired, deeply insightful, conscious component to them.
The bible is only one such attempt, a fascinating, well constructed library of stories, nothing more, nothing less. Heaven? Hell? Afterlife? Rebirth? What does it matter? Find FAITH in the Divine that reigns in our universe by accepting that you simply won't know it all - ever... Find your peace and freedom from your suffering by acknowledging simply that.

The first part of Aquinas’ statement would imply that believers who do that measure the validity of their religion by the standards of non-believers. The fact that non-believers do not believe in a deity simply should not matter to believers. Period.
And if you think the second part of the statement is true, recurrent attempts by believers to convince non-believers to abandon their world view is even more confounding…

I suppose the contentiousness is derived from people living side by sude evrry day fundementally disagreeing on how the universe came into being. Further disagreements include those of what laws should apply. I, quite honestly, aleays fail to take true believers seriously as the notion that God should have come into being spontaniously is no more likely than that the universe did. Furthermore that His principles have not stood the test of time (gender roles for example) must surely disproves his omnipitence, as he must surely have been aware those millenia ago that the world wood change. But the bible does not account for this.
Equally, you might argue this to be a point of contwntion with the church not God, to which i would reply that, if everyone is worshiping god wrong for fault of the church's misinterperetation, then even devoted christians must be doomed for hell.

I was an atheist before I hit a car with a motorcycle on September 11, 2002. There was no logical reason I am currently alive today. They called me a miracle. I went into a six week coma as one person and awoke as someone totally different. In the last 22 years I have experienced God in so many different ways. To keep this short, I will tell of the most significant experience. I had been on a long drive, and about 20 miles from home, I had a deep feeling someone else was in the truck I was driving. The feeling cannot be described using the American language as it was far too intense to do so. It was so pure and yet so raw, a love which permeated every cell of my body. I cried as one would expect, and I never wanted this drive to end. If I could bottle this feeling and just give you a small sample, there would be no such thing as an atheist. I am now a speaker on this subject and would love to share my story. If ever you wonder what heaven will feel like, I know. Give God a chance.

Humanity is degrading not by chance , but because most of us have forgotten the wonderful relationship we can have with the One Who created us and everything. It is the only way to find peace, joy, love and fullfillment. To live by God, to walk with Him as good as we can. There has never been, there isn't and there will never be another way.

Also, the thing about being a Christian is that we get to experience God, not only discuss Him as an academic topic, so it's comprehensible that she'll want to watch videos of fellow Christians that probably have been through the same doubts that she's going through.

the arguments in the video, from what i remember, aren't good at all. they are sophistically presented in a way which can only be convincing to a religious person. there's literally not a single thing he says which wasn't just... assumptions or his opinions. this is why a lot of arguments for god include unfalsifiable assumptions about things science hasn't explained yet or things all humans take for granted

The vast majority of them will be of people who are also atheists, agreeing with the content.
The key point and the difference with John Lennox's lecture is that the possibility of God's existence in the scientific field is not very discussed, because in the academic realm, people that are believers are usually automatically considered to have their thoughts invalidated. So yes, it is important for a Christian to see the other side of the coin, which is: SCIENTISTS do believe and talk about God and yes, His existence is not invalidated by arguments simply regarding what is in front of our eyes or not.
Also, the entire discussion regarding God's existence will become invalid if you take Popper's approach to Scientific discussion. It is unfalsifiable to say that there's no life that can emerge from nothing, but it is also unfalsifiable to say that YES, at some point the universe emerged out of nowhere. It is rather a philosophical discussion. Can you falsify the claim that "there's no God"?
I suggest you to try to bring another view to the claims that Lennox stated in this video and see where you can get. It is a good exercise to take notes and think about it! Do you think this mathematician would be up there giving his lecture at Oxford if his ideas weren't worth listening to?

My late father was an atheist and astronomer. He studied the Bible to prove it was a bunch of crap. At the same time, he also conducted astronomical observations at Palomar, California. There was then, in the 1960s, the largest optical telescope in the world. The effect was that he came to the conclusion that not only does the Bible make sense, not only that the universe could not have come into existence by itself, but also that there is no contradiction between religion and science, both fields complement each other.

I have absolutely no doubts of the existence of God. I do not have faith, I have certainty. I see the Light within me: indestructible, eternal, invincible, personal, blissful, loving, rapturous, marvelous, transforming, omnipresent, all Knowing, all giving, absolutely incredible. God is within me.
Took me all my life to get here. Actually I had nothing to do with it. If it had been by my own efforts, I would still be debating. Nothing like that. The light found me. There is no other way. It lead me to It.
I have no need for more books, no need for more teachers, no need for more gurus. The light within me suffices.
It was incredibly painful at times. The spiritual path is fraught with obstacles. That rose surely has thorns. But the light found me and I am a witness of its existence. I feel the Light is writing this.
In my case, the Light comes with christian symbols. It is a cross of Light, it is also a dove with its wings fully extended forming a cross of light with its whole body. I can see Jesus surrounded by Light. Light comes out of his stretched hands and has an aura of light all around his body.
The light has no form or shape of its own. Different people from different cultures would give the light different forms. But the Light’s essential qualities remain across the cultures: perfection, beauty, bliss, love, compassion, independence, indestructibility, goodness, the Truth, etc.
I have studied many religions through the years. I have had different visions of the light with different symbols. The christian light is to me the most beautiful and the one I prefer. When I say, “christian light” I refer to the fact that it comes through Jesus and the Holy Spirit. That is just my personal choice. The christian light to me is like no other.
Thank you for giving me a chance to talk about my experience on this forum. Be well.

Imagine an experienced homicide Detective seeing multiple dead bodies face down, bound, and gagged, and there is a man standing with a smoking gun in his hand, yet this Detective concludes that these people died from suicide. Any rational thinking person would immediately recognize the absurdity of such a conclusion. Yet, atheists are just like this "experienced" Detective so-called. In fact, atheists deny, and ignore, far more compelling evidence than this Detective. Bottom line is this: "Whose report will you believe?" John Lennox sees and proclaims the truth of God based on material evidence while using logic, and scientific reasoning. Where is the evidence that NOTHING ever produced ANYTHING, much less the cosmos, and everything in it?

@@Panagiotis_Vlachosthe study of the Bible is called theology, and it is a science. People asked questions about the Bible and its accuracy, so it was studied to get answers. Answers found to be facts can be questioned, but that doesn’t change if they’re true or not. The Bible is a historical document that covers real events that actually happened, and it is studied as such by many Bible scholars who read the oldest found versions of the Bible in Hebrew and Greek to understand the original meaning. The Bible can be studied as a science, and it is, because people take the faith seriously. The whole “answers that can’t be questioned” thing is invalid in my opinion. If I ask the color of the sky and you say blue, I can question if it’s actually blue all day long but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s blue. Science gives us answers that can’t be questioned, like how it’s just objectively true that the circumference of a circle is 2pir. I can question that all day long but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s real. With God, what He says is true because He says it. He created the world with His words, if He said the sky is purple, it would be purple. His word can be questioned, but nothing comes of it. What He says is just what reality becomes, His promises are woven into creation. They can be questioned, as you are clearly questioning them, but you don’t gain anything. You act as though questions that can’t be answered are better, but it isn’t just black and white. That’s like saying, if you saw someone get resurrected instantly before your eyes, that “well just cause I can’t explain what happened doesn’t mean God is real. Id rather have questions that can’t be answered than answers that can’t be questioned!” Would you watch the laws of physics be broken right in front of you and still say there’s nothing supernatural and no creator? Normally you hear “well if God showed himself to me I would believe him” but you admit that you don’t know how the universe created itself from nothing, then you’ve seen his miracle with your own eyes. What’s more unbelievable, the whole world being created on its own with perfect conditions for life and conscious beings, or one man rising from the dead? The creation of the universe breaks the laws of conservation of energy and the of conservation of mass, so I’d say the universe being created is more unbelievable, but I’m sure if you saw a dead man walk you would believe in God. You see the result of a much bigger miracle every day. You are living in a bigger miracle than the one you’re looking for.

The biggest question all atheists typically ask is this: who created God? The simple answer is: God was not created, simply because God is the Creator not the creation and he is out of time-space continuum. It is like looking for Leonardo da Vinci in the Mona Lisa painting. You can admire his painting and understand his genius through his painting strokes but cannot look for the painter in the painting itself. So is with God. He created the Universe to perfection. We can admire it, study it through sciences but we cannot look for God in the Universe. All we can see is his strokes. He is out of it and out of time and space dimensions and the laws of Universe which he created in order for the Universe to run in equilibrium. @@machammer7454

Don’t believe the lie that we are capable to struggle with our sinful nature and prevail.
We need Christ because by his righteousness we are granted access to God’s presence once more but also it is his victory on the cross that destroys the sinful nature in our life.
Our faith in Christ doesn’t mean we wont struggle with sin as we still live in a world corrupted by sin, but because of our new nature in Christ we can be empowered by the presence of God (Holy Spirit) to overcome, we must find peace in him.
We remain on this earth after coming to know the truth by the very same mercy of God.
It is by his mercy that he withholds judgement of the world to give all an opportunity to come to Him.
He is unwilling that any would be lost.
As Paul says it is our honor to suffer for the glory of God that in following the command of Christ we as the body can do our part in bringing the lost to know hope in him.

I have always said it is crazy to try and separate God and science...God is science. The greatest scientist, mathematician, physicist, astronomer and biologist in the universe. He IS the universe. Knowing this gives one the ability to look at science like a wide eyed child at a butterfly. Incredible. God bless to all.

Science has never found a supernatural answer. Not once. Because of that, religions have to move their goal posts and ignore parts of their books.

Free will and material reductionist "clockwork" universes are contradictions...
The Universe APPEARS to run like clockwork. But actually it doesn't...
Free Will can BEND the laws of physics....
And I have done this on more than one occasion.
Note, I am not an atheist. God is real..
Im simply saying the ontological premise of Lennoxes argument is weak..
Miracles DO exist. Therefore no "rules" or "laws" are followed .
Laws and Rules are merely "mental habbits"...
      But whos "mental habbit"?...
Thats where it gets confusing........if God is truly God...God must=THE ALL...
And this means OUR thoughts are simultaneously GODS thoughts..
Our own THOUGHTS and repetition compulsions SLOW and CONDENSE matter to a slow vibration of material CLOCKWORK laws..
Test the BOUNDARIES of your own thoughts, habbits and compulsions......and miracles begin to happen...
Carl Jung discovered this with "SYNCHRONICITY" and "catalytic exteriorisation phenomenon"

@@hereweare9096 Zeus and Thor weren’t the answer to lightning. After understanding how the weather works, god never made another flood. Every single explanation believed to be done by god has been proven to be natural by science. So the religious goal posts have moved all the way to the origin of the universe, which science hasn’t answered yet. Which means science would never conclude that “something came from nothing”. So the man in the video is lying. Neat.

ThankYou. This is the most amazingly beautiful detailed picture of what I believe with all my heart. It be easy to be angry at God but if it weren’t for His presence in my life I would have no hope. My only 2 children have passed away. My youngest daughter was 7 when she passed away from leukemia. My oldest daughter passed away from complications of being a premie in 1967 and needing open heart surgery. My belief has promised that I will be with my Daughters again. Praise to the Lord Jesus Christ my savior.
