Thank you for the wonderful marriage advice: "If you are concerned with your spouse's comfort and well being thing things work fine. "That reminds me of something Gordon B. Hinckley said: “I am satisfied that happiness in marriage is not so much a matter of romance as it is an anxious concern for the comfort and well-being of one’s companion."

I feel it is important to understand that the LDS people are not perfect, and we know that. We all have our problems and issues to deal with. If only perfect people attended church, then there would be no one there. That is one of the reasons to go to church is to learn to become better as we follow the Savior, Jesus Christ. To me, it is wonderful to know that I can be with my family forever if I am sealed in the temple and keep my promises. Most participating members strive every day to become better individuals, to better our families and the community. Moreover, as a people we strive to lift the burdens of those that are around us. I would hope that any open-minded person would be able to see the good that comes from the members of this church. Thank you, CBS, for airing this interview.

Creating a falsified narrative does not fall under the category of "not perfect" as far as the leadership goes. Their level of gaslighting and misrepresentations are entirely unworthy of those presenting themselves as speaking for God. In the age of the internet, they can no longer control the narrative, and former adherents have had the fortitude to venture outside the bubble.

@@williamcharles2117This is a wonderful church with wonderful people. We invite all to come and learn more about the teachings of the church. If they sincerely seek answers to their prayers, they will receive witnesses from God that this is the Saviors true church on the earth today. As far as I know,, God is the ultimate witness of truth and no one else. It is by the Holy Ghost that we may know the truth of all things. I recognize that some will receive that witness, but their spiritual foundation is no longer built on stone. Sometimes they will leave the church, and that is their right. Ultimately, each of us is responsible for what we do during our precious time on earth. Eventually each of us will be brought before the judgement of God to answer for those things we did and didn't do. To me it is awesome that Jesus Christ will be the judge. Thanks for the comment.

@@nrlondon7959 - the niceness of individuals has no bearing on the truthfulness of your faith. And to pray for confirmation (Moroni's challenge) but not get it is merely dismissed as the individual did not do it right, or was not sincere, or whatever. The church says people can gain discernment from the Holy Ghost, but only if it doesn't contradict what the prophets have said, whereas prophets can contradict the revelations of previous prophets. I agree with the exmos who maintain that so much of their belief was only possible because the church did not practice full disclosure. If the church truly had integrity, they would refund the tithes of those who no longer believe. Instead, they often smear those who broke free of their programming. I grew up with Mormon neighbors (I'm mid '60s). They were indeed wonderful people, but even then it felt wrong for a six year old to stand up in the meeting our family was invited to and say, "I know the church is true and that Joseph Smith is its prophet." That is an abuse of the word "know" and there is no doubt that little boy was coached to say that. I'm glad I wasn't raised in a high demand religion (ex-Catholic atheist/agnostic now) but have also seen the damage high demand religions can inflict. I mostly became active seeing how religious groups tried to assert their godviews through politics. They helped fund Prop 8 in my state and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland lied about it ("Not one red cent... "). I'm glad to show the colors for humanism and freethought here. And I'm grateful to exmos that show other exmos support and provide them a sense of community. Peace to you. You believe that you have the ultimate truth of the universe via "revealed knowledge." That is quite a claim indeed.

The Mormon church has more than $150 billion hoarded in its Ensign Peak Fund.
Mormons give 10% of their income to the church yet the church spends less than 0.5% of its income for charitable causes.
The Sikh Golden Temple in Amritsar, India feeds 100,000 hungry people daily. Literally anyone can show up and get a meal, any time of day.
Worldwide, the Catholics have 18,000 healthcare clinics, 16,000 homes for the elderly and those with special needs, and 5,500 hospitals, with 65 percent of them located in developing countries.
The Salvation Army (a Methodist sect) only has 1.7 million members and yet they serve the poor, hungry, needy, and imprisoned in 132 countries on a fraction of the financial resources this church has.

Hmm. He should talk about how if his wife dies (or they get divorced), he can get sealed again to another woman, forcing his wife to have a polygamous heavenly marriage.
She could ask to be unsealed if they get divorced but she would then need to be sealed to another man if she hopes to make it to the top tier of heaven, no getting there on your own if you’re a woman. (Amd I wonder why he didn’t mention that there are multiple levels of heaven? 🤔)

"Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children...fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners" (The Family: A Proclamation to the World).
I should mention that the notion that "fathers and mothers are...equal partners" is extensively taught, expounded, and expanded upon frequently by church leaders. These include Apostles* like Elder Bednar, local leaders, and authorized and educated missionaries who deftly and accurately teach the doctrines of the Church.

The older you are the more difficult it is to admit to yourself that the church and gospel you valued so dearly is false. Who wouldn’t want the promise of eternal life with your family. Sadly, as you exert even a particle of effort into looking behind the facade you realize the church in its entirety is unequivocally false. Review the CES letters, challenge the doctrine. The church says to stay away from non-church approved materials or resources, to doubt your doubts and to avoid those who speak negatively of the church. So don’t read from anything other than what we give you or talk to anyone we don’t approve. What does that sound like people? The truth has no reason to fear scrutiny. In addition they teach the value eternal family but disallow discussions about Heavenly mother under the guise it’s speculation. However they allow speculation on virtually every subject except heavenly mother, why?? Because women hold a lesser value in their eyes. What kind of eternity do you have sisters, one where you can make spiritual children but never speak with them and they can’t speak to you, or know about you, love you, talk about you? What kind of eternal existence is that. Meanwhile Heavenly Father is spoken to, about, with. All credit goes to him, women are nothing in the church. It’s hard, but you deserve the truth, and the LDS church does not contain it.

It sounds like some interaction has given you a bad taste in your mouth, and I am sorry for that. There are a few misstatements and misconstructions in your statement that maybe should be corrected.
Women are not worthless in the church. The first state senator (not national, but state) was a Utah woman who beat her husband in primary elections. The church celebrates Eve rather than condemns her. The authoritative doctrine on families (known in shorthand as the proclamation to the world) clearly indicates men and women are equal partners. Is this put into practice? Not all the time…we have a generally male dominant society and leadership styles are influenced by that. Those are incorrect, but most assuredly happen.
There is just not much know about heavenly mother so they discourage talks/lessons about it in order to prevent falsehoods from parading as official doctrine. Personal speculation is not disallowed formally by the church as a whole (local leaders may at times try to overstep their authority or misunderstand directions. People are people).
As for discouraging certain sources of information, the chief aim is to discourage people from going to sources that are flagrantly against the church. It would be like trying to learn about black history from a white supremacist group…the picture is going to be skewed, alarmist, and geared toward innacuracies. This is often shortened to “stick to church approved material” because (unless you are a skilled researcher) it can be difficult to sift through a group’s motives, source accuracy, skew, etc. and most people are not dedicated researchers…so a clear line is easier to follow and suggest. There is no reprimand or punishment for any source you choose to mire fully explore.

@@jiaswan22 it may come as a surprise but I didn't have any bad interactions while I was a member for 35 years. I really enjoyed the people I met in the church, still have many friends and family whom are still active members. So no, no big blowup or hurt feelings caused by another member. My departure from this church was strictly based on the doctrine and my unbiased/objective research into truth. I appreciate your comment because you identify a few really good things to note. You mention the fact that we have a male dominated society and that it influences leadership. Would you not expect that in the decades of church leadership, a loving Heavenly Father and the organization of his people would transcend social norms? If we are to believe he's in constant communication with the prophet, wouldn't he work to promote equality between his son's and daughter's? Additionally, I'm not sure it's fair comparing those who have differing views from the church to white supremacist . I would argue that those who have left were some of the most faithful members who wanted more than anything for the church to be true? When members (and I was one for 35 yrs) leave, they assume it was because they didn't do enough, or have enough faith, or wanted to sin. They fail to realize the incredible amount of sadness and hurt felt when one realizes the belief they held so dear unravels. You mention that the other sources are flagrantly against the church. Is your definition of "flagrantly against" anything inconsistent with the teachings of the LDS church? If people are too inept to read the information outside of the church, what makes you think they have the intellect to understand the sources within. I think that children of a loving God are very intelligent, but for some reason it really bothers members when they seek outside information. Members are taught that if what they read or learn is in anyway inconsistent with the teachings of the church, it is false. If they receive personal revelation that is inconsistent they need to pray again until they receive an answer consistent with the teachings. Can you see how that kind of direction is harmful? We're taught to never trust your own instinct. So people are people I agree. But if God is actively speaking with the prophet you would expect social norms to have little to no involvement, why should they? At the very least, if you look objectively at the timing of many revelations, they all coincide with changes in the social norms or pressure from outside.

Just want to share something’s I’ve learned From Alonzo Gaskill - author on temple symbolism. 🤗🤗
He covers the practice you mentioned in His book and how Anciently, this was done symbolically.
In the Adam and Eve story, there are times when Eve could symbolize “The people” or the spirit children of God on Earth. And Adam could symbolize Christ.
Example: Eve partakes of the fruit and is forever separated from Gods presence (Eve could = Gods Children) , Adam/(Christ) chooses to partake of the fruit, seeing that if he/(Christ) didn’t , Eve(the people) would be forever alone.
In the The temple Sealing we represent Adam and Eve.
Husbands and Wife’s or Eve/Gods Children/, Covent through Christ or “Adam” to return to Gods Presence. ✨🙏🏼.
My personal belief is that this symbolism was not being understood (that through Christ we make eternal convents) due to our modern culture or lack of education, So they simplified the wording of the sealing.
The author Alonzo Gaskill has been a HUGE blessing in my life! Has opened my eyes to how EVERYTHING in the temple truly does point to Christ 🤍🤍.
Wishing you all the best 🤗 Happy Easter!

Eternal marriage has always been an opportunity, not a guarantee, as Elder Bernard stated, and depends on keeping of sacred covenants/promises by both the man and woman. Nothing has changed here doctrinally.
