This made my day. I saw both these guys in Los Angeles way back when I was a piano student in college. In a very depressing world, this certainly brightened my day!

By far my favorite performance that I've seen to date of this incredible concerto. Excellent chemistry between Barenboim, Mehta and the Staatskapelle Berlin. None of them get "in the way" of the others, but instead play/conduct beautifully, harmoniously and seamlessly together. Not rushed. Space to breath/show the true power behind the music. Thank God for the immense gift of music and talented musicians who share their talents with others.
I found this spellbinding. A very lyrical, less bombastic take on this piece, full of nuance. Got something genuinely new out of this performance - which surprised me, given how well-trodden this piece is. Wonderful.

This is the music making by master👏 I enjoyed every details maestro Barenboim presented to us. It was recomposed interpretation, not athletic playing which was overwhelming during mid-2010s. It was like listening to Barenboim′s reading aloud. I hoped Mehta being more flexible to how Barenboim letting music flow sometimes, but again thank you DW for this opportunity.

Thia was a very different interpretation from what I've otherwise heard. Brilliant, but not overly bravado. All around great performance, both solo and orchestra.
Mehta and Barenboim had been old friends since their youthful days. One can see them play in Schubert's Trout Quintet on RUclips. The former played the double bass and the latter played the piano, of course. Even in a more advanced age, the maestro did not need the music in front of him. I first went to his concert in Montreal in the '60s in Place des Arts in Montreal.
I'm a lifelong pianist, classical musician...I know the protocol for concerts...but I really wanted to applaud after that first movement. Thank you, maestro, God-speed, I wish you all the best with your health challenges.
