The Waltons family and guests wore some wonderful hats over the seasons. In this Behind the Scenes I share some highlights from over the seasons. From the Baldwin Sisters (Helen Kleeb, Mary Jackson) to Corabeth (Ronnie Claire Edwards), Olivia (Michael Learned), Grandma (Ellen Corby) and many more. Come see the parade of hats - even John Boy (Richard Thomas) and John (Ralph Waite)

The Baldwin sisters always wore beautiful hats
Totally agree with you!!! They worn really beautiful hats x
I agree!
I loved the hat that Olivia bought grandma when she was going out with Mr.Dane after Grandpa passed away.
Thanks for the reminder.
How could you not mention Jim Bob;s Flight cap? Love reading your memories 🙂
OH no!! How did I miss that???? My bad.
I was three years old, when The Walton's first aired in 1972. Our family watched it. My maternal grandparents were alive. My parents were alive. I'm the old man of the family at 54. The Walton's brings back memories of family, faith, and religion. It was a wonderful show. They can't duplicate it now. I wish I could go back to 1972. My grandparents grew up in the 1900s and 1910s. I loved old things. I guess I love myself.
Thanks Judy! I love hats,
@@arlenejohnstone7649 My mother and grandmother had hats. My grandmother donated dozens to the acting department at Loyola in the 1930, that belonged to her grandmother, born in 1855 in Philadelphia.
Thanks for sharing your wonder thoughts with us!
@@alicemcleod6149 It was a good time in my life, when all my loved one came together to watch The Walton's. Thanks.
I'm thinking women kept and used SAME hat for YEARS just Freshened them up with New ribbons ,flowers or a brooch or netting ....VOILA !!! ... a "NEW HAT "
Everyone wore hats back in the 20s 30s and 40s. I enjoy hats of all kinds. Thanks for this look!
Also in the 50s and early 60s, a man wasn't considered properly dressed without a hat
Glad you enjoyed this.
And can’t forget that the Baldwin sisters were first introduced on “The Homecoming,” trying on hats at Ike’s. 👒
Good point!
You look great in a hat Judy. Hats were very important in those days and a lot of people still wear them and look great in them. Hats off too those who still do…👏🏻
Well said :)
I recall when Ben got a job working at the used car dealership, he bought himself a straw hat. At one point when John got his job working in an office, he bought a new hat. But, he left it behind when he quit the job due to what we would call a "toxic" environment. In those days ladies were more likely to wear a hat, especially to church.
This was truly a fun video.
So glad you enjoyed it.
The Baldwin Sisters and Cora Beth wore great hats but loved their costumes. My favorite that Olivia just wore for a moment was her going away hat but the outfit also was lovely !
Definitely some great hats.
Pray for a lady I met today at my job who came in the senior center today just to drink coffee and have fellowship with us, she just lost her husband recently. She was married with him for 55 years.
🙏
Judy, the green hat you wore was my favorite. I even loved the green outfit.
Cool. Thanks.
I'm not a clothes person so I tend not to notice what people wear. Saying that a few hats, stand out - the over the top hats the Baldwin wore, of a day gone by. Olivia's and Grandma's hat stand out, even with money tight, they were ladies and hats were etiquette. But I think it is Grandpa's hat that represents his character the best-when I think of Grandpa it is with his hat, worn with time and wisdom. And Mary Ellen's wearing a tomboy type hat which is the hat I would have worn. Thanks again for taking the time to bring The Walton's back to life.
I love that perspective about how the hats represented the characters. As did Jim Bob’s aviator hat which I forgot to mention.
Thanks for a covering very interesting topic. It was an age when a lady, especially the Baldwin sisters, would never go out in public without being fully dressed and wearing a hat. Also, upscale women like the Baldwin sisters would still wear gloves during the day to make their outfits even more elegant.
Great point!
With the up most respect, you look stunning! You can rock a hat... Im miss the old days on the mountain.
Thank you :)
Hi Judy, I loved the clothes and hats that people wore on the show. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
The Cat In the Hat and you are the 2 best people ever who wore the greatest hats ever
I definitely felt that Cora Beth and Olivia looked the best in their hats. And you also look great in hats as did Erin❤
Thank you.
Wow, Judy! I love your hat! Looks like it's almost springtime! 👒👒👒👒⚘⚘⚘⚘
Wow! What a lot of research and editing you did to create this light-hearted review of Walton's hats! Thank you, Judy! I became obsessed with cloche hats in particular because of The Walton's! Every cast member sure knew how best to look great in whatever hat they were assigned! That Peter Pan Green hat and suit may well be the saving grace of that controversial episode ☺️💚!
Verdi absolutely rocks her turbans as does JB his newsboy cap! You look terrific as always in the hat you're wearing today! I like hats now, but as a child absolutely hated wearing a hat to church ~ I was born toward the tail end of mandatory hat wearing whenever leaving the house. It's nice people can wear whatever they want these days! Hope all Walton's in the winter storm regions are staying safe and warm! Bless you, Judy and Walton's everywhere! ❤
Holly, I love your comments! Plus, they’re so like what I think, they save me a lot of writing ;).
I was going to say the same about Judy’s present hat (which looks so good w/Judy’s shirt, too) & the research & editing this video required. Though I laughed as this one’s like what I suggested recently, featuring an aspect w/various examples through different episodes. I even hesitated then due to the research & editing required. ~You pulled it off anyway, Judy, and made it fun!
I loved that John’s typical hat was so beaten up ~ that realism. Just as I love that the house woodwork, walls, floors, furniture… were smudged with dirt, peeling paint & wallpaper, tattered edges of upholstery, etc. There was so much excellent commitment to detail by teams of artists throughout all aspects, the series is a treasure and the detail elevated the stories to resonate about so much more than plot!
Thanks, Judy! & Thanks, Holly :)
@@peaceshepherding529 Wonderful observations yourself, too!
I wish there was a bit more style to the average clothing these days. Hats were a great touch. And yes - this was a long time in the making as I tried to compiled a good selection - knowing I was missing so much anyway :).
@@judynorton2598 ❤️
I always liked hats. At what age did girls or women start wearing hats? I know they were around much in the 60’s.
I always had a fascination for hats, especially vintage hats.
Me too :)
Olivia’s small brown hat was a Cloche hat. I loved Miss Emily’s hats. “Hats off” to you Judy for continuing to come up with new ideas. You look great in your hat! I went through my own hat phase in my early 20’s and now realize I looked absolutely ridiculous.
So glad you enjoyed this.
I love using old hat boxes for storage! I think women's hats are very beautiful to display. That is very interesting about the history behind hats. I remember many Easter AMs wearing my Easter hat to church, but I rarely wore hats. I love them, but it takes the right one to flatter my round face.
I’ve done that too! Used hat boxes for decorating and storage being a bonus!
As usual, I was cap-tivated. Thanks, Judy.
So glad!
The hat looked great! 😊 Fun to see all the hats in the show!
Thank you! 😁
Great segment on hats Judy. The Kentucky Derby brings out a lot of hats on derby day here in Kentucky. 🐎 👒
Absolutely
Thank you for being gracious to share with us.
My pleasure.
What a fun episode this is! I never really thought about all the hats and didn’t realize there were so many. Cora Beth seems to have had the best selection. I always wanted to be a hat person but can’t pull it off! Thanks, Judy.
So glad you enjoyed this one.
I really love hats and have worn newsboy caps and also straw hats with pretty dresses. When I was a teenager in the 1980's, I went on a shopping trip alone to Chicago, which was a big deal. I bought a straw hat at Marshall Fields and they give me a very large round green hat box for it, which was really awkward to carry around. As I was walking down the sidewalk to the next store, I saw a little boy excitedly say to his mom "Look, that lady is carrying a drum!" It was a really cute moment and my favorite hat memory of all time.
How sweet :)
What a fun episode, thank you Judy! And a big "tip of the hat" to you and whoever edits your videos for putting together all of those clips!
Thank you so much.
Thank you for sharing. I hope you are well. The hat you wore in “The Hunt” is my favorite.
Thank you! One of my favorites!
That was a great episode as well! Of course, I saw it the first time around….😊
All the hats worn on the show looked great on whoever was wearing them. I wish we all still wore hats more today, great fashion accessories and almost everyone looks good in a hat.
That would be fun.
Judy I want to thank you and the cast for giving us a gift. The gift being the Waltons.
Thank you so much. It was our pleasure and privilege.
The Baldwin sisters had some great hats. Have a good day
Absolutely.
Judy, you look terrific in that hat. I lived in Europe for years, and fell in love with hats there, and still love them. Thanks for this fun hat episode.
So glad you enjoyed it.
I liked seeing the hats and caps that they wore for the time period
that the show was set in as well as how the small towns looked like
being from a small town in Oklahoma Thanks Judy.🇺🇲📺📻📺📻🇺🇲
Glad you enjoyed it!
My Grandma born in 1904 Always wore. hat! Love Your Show s!
Awesome!
Lovely ladies and handsome men! Stylish hats worn well by all! 👒🎩
Yay!
My 71 year old Dad is absolutely delighted when we watch shows or movies that have women wearing hats. He says it's better than make up to draw a man's gaze to a ladies eyes. Which is where all gentlemen should be looking when they are talking to a lady.
He definitely misses the days when hats were more common.
Thanks for sharing about the hats.
That’s so sweet to hear. Thank you for sharing.
I absolutely love wearing hats to Church. Or even just a fascinator. Watching The Walton's through the years, I have enjoyed seeing many of the hats worn by the women in that day. I think many are timeless.
Happy to hear that.
I’ve always been partial to the newsboy hats on gentlemen. And I think the straw hats are adorable.👒
They did rock them :)
Judy you are awesome looking today I am sorry you are awesome looking all the time Ps Gods blessings for you and your family keep up the good shows. Thank you very much I watch the Waltons every morning in South Georgia. It comes on Monday trough Friday I still love the shows
Thank you so much.
Hands down, the Baldwin sisters hats were my favorite. Thanks Judy. Mary
Makes perfect sense :)
I loved the Baldwin's hats so fancy looking Olivia and grandma had good looking hats all the hats were great that you all wore all fancy when dressed up love your hat judy
Thank you!
Your very welcome
I loved the hats that the Baldwins wore. You Judy has some really nice ones.
Happy to hear that.
and the winner for the best hat that was worn on "The Waltons" goes to Mary Ellen and her large straw hat!👏👏
Yay! Thanks!!
Agreed
Although Ralph Waite did look raikish and sexy in the way he wore hats!
Thank you, Judy! 👒
🥰
Love the hat that has some very delicate black net which drops down slightly over the eyes. Very elegant
Yes, stylish indeed.
I’ve always liked the hats Mary Ellen wore once they got into the 1940s. She always looked so stylish.
Thank you. I had fun with the hats.
❤ I love seeing all of the hat's of the past.😊
Glad you enjoyed this.
HATS 👒 🎩 OFF to you for a well-done well-researched BTS episode, Judy!! Next time I go to watch The Waltons I am going to be keenly aware of everyone's hat apparel! 😊
Awesome! Thanks!
Enjoyed the "hats" segment. It bought back memories of playing in grandmother's attic. She and Grandpa had stored their older clothes and hats (in boxes) in the attic. After the grandparents had pasted away the boxes of hats were given to me. Love the fashion from that time era.
What fun it must have been to play in that attic :)
So great seeing all the different styles of hats. I remember as a kid my Grandmother and all the female members of our family would buy a new hat and dress for Easter church services and proudly wear them as it was only done once every Spring. I miss those times and people. I actually saved some of the old hat boxes as they were sometimes just as elaborat as the hats. Wonderful having those memories brought back ✌
Sounds like some wonderful memories.
Judy, THANK YOU for this video. I loved it ❤ My sisters & I, all wear hats 👒. Our Grandma (born February 1913) always wore hats. She also gave us girls so many. We all still look into vintage shops & have been able to add to our collections. Each of us wear these hats. We feel beyond fortunate. OH! My Grandma didn't store her hats in boxes. She kept them in barrels. Our Papa always put those little metal wheels on the barrels🎉🎉
Oh wow. How cool. Thanks for sharing.
I always enjoyed seeing the different hats the ladies wore
Some were elegant and I wished I had them
Glad you enjoyed this.
My hats off to Judy❤️🌹❤️👍
😊
I just love the look of all those grand hats for back in the day. And Judy your hat is sure grand!
Thank you so much.
Love this (and all your) shows! You still rock the hats. Thanks, Judy!
Thank you!
Hats, Hats, Hats, Fun segment Judy. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Love the hats, especially Corabeth’s and the Baldwin Sisters. I’ve always loved hats, including fedoras and Olivia’s hat in The Test. It looked really good on her. I like your hat you’re wearing right now Judy!!!❤️
Thanks for sharing!!
What a fun trip! Thank you for gathering all of the pictures. Enjoyed seeing the parade of each with their hats/caps. My childhood & teens were in the '50s & x 60s & women were never without a hat. We got a new one each Easter with our new outfits. I looked terrible in any style. My cousin looked great in any style. I still loved her!😁 So no hats for me as an adult. Head cold = earmuffs. Thanks for taking us back to the joy of hats!😊
Thank you so watching and sharing your own experience.
Thankyou Judy for sharing behind the scenes hats of Walton's epsodes.I always love the Baldwin sisters' style hats they wore in those days.
Happy to hear that.
Thank you for sharing about the hats. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it.
You look lovely in your hat , 👒 gives me the vibe of a folk singer .
Cool :)
Wow! I love this episode! I didn’t realize the cast wore so many hats over the years. The Baldwin’s are my favorite hats. Thank you Judy for making these videos and sharing your stories with us.
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.
Thank You for yet another wonderful Behind the Scenes episode Judy ! Such a fun topic and there was so much variety with everyone's hats in The Walton's. I have always loved John Boy's hat and have tried to find one very similar but to no avail ! Lots of special Thanks to you for all you do for us lifetime fans ❤️, from Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you so much!
I REALLY liked this “Behind the Scenes”. It was delightful!
I just love hats- especially retro ones because they make one step back in time just as pictured here in all these shows. I especially liked the ones that Stella wore. And some of yours too honestly.
I am glad they are coming back into style! I just wore one to church last week myself.😊
Awesome!
"Hats Off" for an interesting episode, Judy!
Thank you 😊
Always excellent videos judy love all the older hats keep the videos going I watch the Waltons every day on me TV here in Port oregon
Glad you like them!
Judy, I have to confess this was the first time I've ever taken special notice of the hats. Nice presentation.
Happy you enjoyed it.
Fabulous hats!! Thanks for highlighting them for us. I remember all the hats. Of course the Baldwin sisters had my favorites in the show... second only to Mary Ellen's junk dealing hat as she called sis Erin "Miss Dainty Drawers". LOL😂😂😂 the best!!!
Thanks! I loved that straw hat.
@@judynorton2598Loved it all❤
Ike and Ben wore hats for their USO act in "The Obstacle". Corabeth started a millinery shop in "The Beau" where Olivia bought Esther a hat for her date.
Cousin Cora in "The Dust Bowl Cousins" wore a very 1930s hat as did Eva Mann in "The Ceremony."
Yancy always wore hunter type hats..
Those are some more fabulous examples! Thanks for the reminders!
Great video! I always loved the hats on the Waltons
So glad!
As a hat lover I did take notice of all the hats both less and more flattering ones! You rocked the straw hat with overalls, looking really pretty but I bet you were not excited to have to wear a brown velvet turban. No one could wear that and feel glamorous, especially a teenager!! The Baldwins and Cora had the best hats for sure!!! ❤ Thank you for sharing the hats, maybe Jim Bobs flying helmet should have it's own segment!
Yep - I could have done without the turban in The Spoilers. Verdie could rock the turbans, but not me.
Hats are fun, nice to see them on the Waltons.
Thanks 😊
Thanks Judy. 👒
Thanks for watching.
Interesting, that hats in that era we're magnificent. I remember my grandmother or mother would make a comment about how beautiful this hat is or that hat looks like mine. Another outstanding behind the scene with Judy Norton. ❤😊
As always, thank you. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it.
Hats were part of the fashion back in the 30s, 40s and 50s. A delightful episode Ms Judy. Thank you. The worst hats were worn by Ike and Jim Bob.
So glad you enjoyed this.
Wow, Judy! How did you do all of this hat research? Did you fast forward through dozens of episodes sharply scanning the screen for hats? This must’ve been a lot of work! It was a lot of fun to watch and I thank you very much.
Yes and yes. 😊
Hey Judy! Really cool hat! You're looking great! I think it was awesome that they stuck with the times because most people back then did wear hat and they were such a beautiful addition to all the lovely outfits the women wore. Thank you so MUCH for this deep dive into the hat's on the Waltons. Have a great weekend! 🥰
Thank you!
You have always been one of my favorite actresses. The show itself brought back a wonderful time in my life. Living on a farm, we were poor but well loved and happy. My best times was watching the Walton's and watching the characters grow through everything that came there way.
Thank you for your kind comments.
Hats!! How hilarious to spotlight hats but what an awesome idea!! I loved grandmas and grandpas hats!!!
Glad you had fun with this one.
Till this day I still watch the waltons you all done such a wonderful job
Thank you so much.
I used to love the stylish hats of the Baldwin Sisters!! Corabeth's hats were always over the top but those hats matched her persnickety, exuberant personality! Another lovely episode, thank you!
Good point :)
I remember one of Cora Beth's ventures was a hat emporium in the store, Olivia bought one for Grandma while the rest just gathered dust on the shelves.
Forgot that one. Thanks for the reminder.
Every aspect of the series is fascinating from hats to vehicles and food. I’m looking forward to many more videos about the show or any subject you share with us. Thank you Judy
Thank you so much.
Hi Judy. I feel like I have been watching The Walton's my entire life. I was a young adult in the 70's, but I had an old soul. I love this show so much. My favorite hat is Grandma's straw hat she got at Ike's store. I have been on a quest to find a hat like that for myself. I just live that simple hat.
Thank you so much.
This was great, Judy!
Yay! 😊
Love the hats and clothes. Thank you, Judy.
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.
Great idea!!! HATS!!!
Glad you like them!
Enjoyed, as usual, always interesting, thank you. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
❤thank you so much ❤
Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for sharing Judy.
You are so welcome
Great episode as usual Judy. The hats worn on the show fit into the episodes so well, I never realized so many different hats were used until you highlighted it in this segment. Very interesting!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Hurray for Hats! Love hats!
Yay!
Thank you for this fun and informative video. Learning about different aspects of The Waltons from your videos has helped further enhance my appreciation for and enjoyment of the show.
Yay. So happy to hear that.
Great episode - Love all the hats specially the Baldwin ladies!
So glad.
Thank you for sharing this video on hats! It was fun to see the different styles! I really enjoy your videos!
So happy to hear that. Thank you.
Thanks Judy! I'll check that out! So enjoy your sharing with us!🥰
Thanks for watching.
Here in Louisville we pay attention to hat's because of the Kentucky Derby. I'm surprised you did not use the scene where Ralph announced he got a new hat to go with his new job. He looked really good in that hat and I love his smile, especially in that scene.
Yep - another moment I forgot.
This kind of vlog from you is what makes your channel so much fun! I love these tidbits and small details about the Waltons behind the scenes! Love this! Thank you soooo very much!
So glad. Thank you for watching!
