Such a shame and so sad. The were really THE powercouple . Dont get this Brooke / Ridge destiny thing when Brooke has been in love and involved with countless men. And now with Thorsten Kaye in the role that " destiny" thing doesnt really add up any better when its not even the same actor, the writers doesnt really " need " tp stick with it
How Brooke didn't lose absolutely everything is something I will never understand. She deserved for the whole Forrester family including Rick and Bridget to banish and dishone her permanently.
To me the Breacon storyline was the point where the show just jumped the shark completely- first by having Brooke treated as the victim and some sort of tragic heroine throughout, and then by having Bridget forgive her so soon after.
Brooke had done so much bad things. It started with Caroline, than Stephanie, Taylor and now Bridget. Every single of those things have been worst, worst and worst. Brooke only comes full cycle.
As I understand it, she also betrays her with Nick later on as well. This may have been Brooke's worst act, but everything that comes after it is almost equally as despicable.
I had this episode on VHS and never recorded over it. I had to keep it to rewatch because the baby monitor reveal was just so damn good!! Jennifer Finnigan really showed up with this arc! Phenomenal
Brooke and her constant lies "You are very special to me and always will be." Yes, definitely. I remember a time when she completely cut him out of her and Hope's lives. He was like the plague to her. So very special. 😂
i thought ridge was her destiny? she said she never loved anyone the way she loved ridge. such a liar. i guess ridge has deeper pockets so he's her destiny, doesn't she tell ridge when he finds out that deacon is hope's dad that deacon never meant anything. brooke's is so disgusting.
Megan to Whip: “You’ll be using that baby monitor to get up and change the baby just as much as she will, mister” - and probably a lot more if we’re being honest.
I’m going to comment as I go along so apologies if this looks like spamming 😂. Deacon telling Brooke that her marrying Whip “was just saying pretty words in front of a minister, it doesn’t mean anything” was certainly him telling on himself, wasn’t it? Deacon married Bridget twice, and to him, indeed, both vow recitations meant less than nothing.
Here we have Ridge not surprised that Stephanie was at Brooke's baby shower. 🤣Ridge: _That's just like mother. She keeps her friends close and her enemies even closer_
*Deacon is on the Wrong End of a Listening Device* Bridget listening to Deacon and Brooke on the baby monitor continues a theme involving Deacon and listening/recording devices. Recall that there were a pair of times when the Forresters tried to record Deacon to use his words against him - when he tried to sell Little Eric and when he was married to Bridget but really in love with Amber. Both of those times Deacon discovered the ruse and destroyed the recording device. Then there was the time Deacon used a telephone to make Bridget’s family listen in while he de-flowered her. This was Deacon getting revenge for the recording ruse and using a similar device against the Forresters. And now finally we have Deacon being unwittingly exposed by a listening device with Bridget now hearing the truth about his affair with Brooke. This is almost a perfect inversion of the obscene phone call Deacon made on his wedding night. Just as Brooke had to listen to their lovemaking and picture Deacon and Bridget in bed, now Bridget is on the listening end and she’s forced to imagine Deacon and Brooke in bed. This preponderance of these devices is fitting for a character like Deacon who arrived on the show as a vulgar character who was willing to say anything. Deacon’s word meant nothing, he could be loose and lie freely. But the trajectory of how these devices operate indicate the devolution of Deacon’s character. When he first arrived on the show he was a charming street-smart rogue who couldn’t be easily tricked by the Forresters hence his foiling of their attempts to record him. And his own phone prank on his wedding night indicated that he was a trickster who could take control of the plot. But now his character has been denuded of all that hustle and flow, he’s been reduced to Brooke’s love-simp and he lacks the charm and cleverness he used to have. As a result he’s now on the losing end of a listening device - his secrets and lies easily exposed by a careless mistake that it’s hard to imagine the Deacon we first met ever making.
I _love_ this! You are so right about recorded or transmitted sound being a recurring theme with Deacon's character, and how his loss of plot controI is mirrored by how he no longer controIs the sound (a theme which, incidentally, connects his character to his future wife Macy who has a long history of using tape recordings to controI the plot). I had another take on the baby monitor scene as an inversion of the "intercepted letter" trope (in episode 3819) in the context of Fate vs Design. And to me it's a significant detail that the baby monitor was a gift to Brooke _from Bridget._ It is the first sign that she is about to get some agency in a storyline where up until this point she has had none.
Brooke presents herself as a hero again because Bridget is so important to her and she "sacrifices" Deacon for her. That might be the case if she had been with him before. As it was, she should have just kept her damn hands off him and not jumped into bed with him. But it's so typical of Brooke to portray herself as a hero even in such disgusting situations. 🤮🤮🤮
At least Taylor can still surprise Ridge. Ridge expected Taylor ti think that Ridge currently is a jerk,, but instead Taylor is turned on by Ridge competing with Forrester Creations.
The Taylor/Ridge office coitus scene made no real sense - Taylor has been in goody-two-shoes mode for a while, especially re Amber and Rick, so she wouldn’t approve of Ridge’s revenge plan. That being said, they were so hot together that I can let it go. I did find the “dirty talk” cringe beyond belief - I literally don’t think I could say that even for money - but HT and RM went kind of meta with it and made fun of it even as they were saying the lines, so it worked.
RM smiled a lot during her speech and HT was funny for me. That's why the scene worked and fun is a Tridge's feature also in se x scenes. And for the revenge part, as Ridge said expecting a lecture, she was out of character. But she is not "Taylor" anymore.
I was saying the same thing - it seemed OOC that Taylor would find Ridge in revenge mode attractive. She would probably find him a bit siIIy, if anything.
I never liked Brooke and Deacon together . No mother should slept with her Daughter husband and get pregnant from him. Brooke always was a trrible mother and sekfish
I know it was annoying how much she kept saying how great of a mom brooke was towards her but she also just really loved her mom for her to do her like this she became even worse with the thorne stuff and putting macy through hell but to do this to your daughter who loves and adore you like was the worst you could have ever done why couldn’t you just get it together stay out of town like Stephanie and massimo wanted you to and deacon such a damn scumbag to Bridget using her to get to amber then her mom when all she did was love you both so much is so foul
Wow i just joined in again on BB, nice to read you guys again.. i must say the actress playing Bridget did a reaaaallly good job! Brilliant acting there. But what a horrible storyline, that must be killing a daughter totally, not nly it was an affair, but the mother pregnant with child of her husband?? Thats really really awful. Poor Bridget. What we learn bout this? Bar tenders are trouble. Why the hell did Bridget marry just a jerk.
Taylor being tur ned on by this new version of Ridge just doesn't ring true. It would be more in character for her to keep him grounded and get him to make peace with his family than to encourage his personal revenge plot. The writers clearly just thought they needed an excuse, any excuse, for a scene of married bliss between Ridge and Taylor before things begin to take a tragic turn.
One of the best things about the Tridge relationship was how Taylor would call Ridge out on his ****. It gave the relationship some sort of substance and honesty. What we see here is more of a replica of his relationship with Brooke.
Despite this being very close to the point where the show jumps the shark, this conclusion to the Brooke/Deacon trainwreck is actually reasonably good soap writing. The build-up to the big revelation in this episode is well handled and suspenseful.
While Tridge christen the Marone office and talk about how power is a potent aphrodisiac, we have Brooke and Deacon talking about the most incredible night, when Brooke needed a friend and bonded with Deacon and they ended up in bed. Deacon and Brooke have someone listening to them, while Taylor seems to have a little issue with Ridge's portrait facing them.
Bridget has more class and restraint than I would of had I would be charging up the stairs topspeed with a lit fire poker and let my imagination go wild
There are a few episodes with Ridge and Taylor, in the early beginning of B & B. The scenes are very hot and steamy. The Chemistry betweem Taylor and Ridge was always the strongest of all the woman. That passion he never had with Brooke.
I’m a true Caroline sr. and Ridge fan ( I think she will always be Ridge’s love of his life!) and I think they had the best and most magical chemistry! But I always loved Tridge too and their passion and chemistry was fantastic! I never saw the supposed to be chemistry with boring Bridge either!

I feel bad for Bridget. This is devastating. Stephanie had every right to be angry with Brooke. Now, it’s Bridget’s turn.
