Lance, time to learn the most important lesson in life - you can blackmail your friends, even your family, but you never blackmail Sheila Carter without facing the consequences.
Another example of how they've dum bed down Sheila's schemes. She ties two doors with rope in the middle of an apartment complex and isn't worried that another tenant might walk by and find that strange?
And she's not even looking around or moving quickly... She is standing there in the hallway for a good 5/10 mins _talking_ to herself😐😐 Also, she is lucky Lance was at home. Otherwise she'd have to wait all night with that door tied if he'd gone out clubbing. And finally.. Nobody is hearing Sheila talking outside Lance's window? Those are apts, not condos... They are very close together and someone should have heard her
@Nick it would have actually been kind of funny if a tenant had walked by Lance's door while Sheila was outside siphoning the bees in, and just untied the whole contraption 😂
@@TriniT21 😂 I wish the show had that kind of humor. Also would've been funny if another tenant was looking out their window thinking, "Oh Ziggy finally got someone to take care of that bee hive." 🤣
They used tequila shots back,; they did in 2021, too. Erica sounded like Hope when she was trying to gas light Rick. Lance is allergic to bees, and he is eating honey? So, Sheila opened a part of the window to put the bees in, and yet, nobody heard anything? It's always someone else's fault, except for Sheila
*To Bee Or Not To Bee* In a way, Sheila's method (unalivement by dangerous animal) is very much in character - it's the same one that she tried with Mike and the Doberman. The difference is that this time, Lance actually _dies._ We have mentioned earlier that until this point, the writers always stopped short of having Sheila deliberately and successfully kiII anyone. This is the first time we see Sheila actually plan and carry out a real mu r d er. And it's not that _Sheila_ is doing anything different from all those other times when she either tried to unalive someone but they survived, or she unintentionally kiIIed someone, it's just that this time the _writers_ set the story up so that Sheila actually has no other option but to kiII Lance. He literally gives her a deadIine, at which time her whole life will be destroyed unless she makes Lance disappear. Yes, the writers could solve the problem by having Lance _accidentally_ stung by bees and making Sheila's part a less active one (not helping him, and letting him die), but then that would create another fIaw in the writing by having Sheila saved by chance alone (a deus ex machina), which is an unsatisfying solution. So here, the writers have clearly painted Sheila into a corner that she can't get out of without com mi tting mu r d er. And by doing so, they have crossed a threshold with Sheila that can't be undone.
Yes exactly. Prior to this, the show would always walk this line of having very few people actually die at Sheila's hands and never as a result of her intent. Both the meter man at the farmhouse and Jay Garvin were accidents whereas all the times Sheila tried to k ill someone (sic c ing the doberman on Mike/shooting Stephanie etc) she failed. In this way the show was drawing a clear line that it would not have Sheila cross which prevented her from being an irredeemable cardboard soap villain. But now the show has crossed that line and for such an unnecessary reason. Lance was a peripheral character who we barely knew and his threat to Sheila could've been easily dealt with by having him leave town. Think of when Sheila scared and threatened Judy the nanny early on and got her to leave LA. Judy had found out all about Sheila's past in Genoa City so the show was able to mine that drama but ultimately, they didn't want Sheila to cross the line by k ill ing Judy, especially so early in her B&B tenure and for such an insignificant character, so they had Judy skip town instead. That could've easily been done with Lance as well.
@annieo6527 Lance was a "B" character at best, they didn't have her actually kill a main cast member. And the bees took care of Lance, a non-allergic person could've ran into the restroom, showered off, then called the police. 🙄
@@NewYorkNick0607true! The problem is that they _already_ had Sheila use the Judy strategy on Ziggy, so it would have been less effective to do it a second time so soon after the first. And it wouldn't change the fact that Sheila getting Lance involved at all was a weakness in her scheme. She should have used Ziggy instead, and done it more subtly with no kldnapping.
@@annieo6527 That's a good point. They unnecessarily created an extra character when Ziggy could've been used for everything. And I agree it would've been better if they'd done it more subtly - like if Ziggy was encouraging Amber's addiction or if he wanted her for himself.

B&B’s visual gags don’t always work, but Lance spreading honey on his sandwich was a nice, ironic touch. The way the camera focused on it and bathed it in a somewhat sinister light reminded me of the camera work on the glass of milk in the classic Hitchcock film “Suspicion.” Side note - as someone who is suuuppper allergic to bees, I was really triggered by this episode. No way Lance wouldn’t have had an Epi-Pen, health insurance or no (they weren’t expensive back then).

As much as I love the character of Sheila as a villain, in the present day she isn't needed and is just used up by this point. I enjoyed her return in 2017 which was very unexpected. That saying... Too much of a good thing... Is true when it comes to Sheila. She's def one of my fave villains (esp due to KB playing her so fantastically), but I feel like they brought her back too much and as a result of not having the writers skilled enough to sustain the character, they made Sheila too much into a cartoon villain.
