Once again we see Sheila and Taylor vying for control of the plot. While Sheila is instructing Erica on how to break up Rick's family, Taylor is literally putting the family back together with Rick and Amber on her couch and her ushering Little Eric over to complete the portrait.
Yes! It seems as if lately, the writers have realized how to structure this storyline around themes that actually work, as opposed to the slow and directionless "first act".

Same here.I actually started watching this show during this storyline and couldn’t help but fall in love with Rick Amber. I find it touching that inspite of all their troubles they were trying to hold on to their relationship and family.Always felt they belonged together.Guess I am the one off lol.

Sheila mentioned her in 2017 when she was faking her injury after her fight with Quinn. She said she talked to her on occasion, and Mary let it slip that James had developed a dependency on pills that he was prescribing himself. Sheila then used that to try to blackmail him into telling Eric that Sheila was injured. Since then, she has said her children no longer speak to her.
In 2003, Deacon gets involved with Macy, and (in some way I can’t remember) she helps him gain custody of Little Eric. After Macy dies (again) later that year, the boy gets shipped off to Deacon’s relatives and is never heard of again. Needless to say, 2003 is the year the show really falls apart, killing off that long-running umbrella storyline being just one of the many bad creative decisions.
