I remember playing East Side Story constantly -fantastic album. Recommend Women's World, Someone Else's Bell, Someone Else's Heart, Mumbo Jumbo from that album. Also Points of View, Elephant Ride, His House Her Home from the next album. I can clearly see the lineage from the Kinks in the 60s to Squeeze and the Jam in the late 70s/early 80s to Pulp and Blur in the 90s. To that I recommend Common People, Live Bed Show, The Fear, Happy Endings, Pencil Skirt.

Squeeze are great for delivering that 3 minute pop classic, this one is very Beatlesesque. They achieved a fair bit of success over the years, but if you want to check out a band that didn't , but should have , have a listen to Any Trouble. Second Choice would be good place to start,
I was going to suggest this, but went for one I now know you've already done! Squeeze had the 3 minute pop down to an art. Regarding the pitch, I took on " labelled with love" at a Karaoke in Copenhagen, jan 2005. - I couldn't get in the key. I'm my head yes. In my mouth no!
I think this is one of the greatest pop tunes ever written. Difford and Tilbrook were brilliant.
No finer example of power pop.
I love it when Tilbrook sings the melody and Difford takes the same line an octave below - classic Squeeze sound.

I like the way you think. 👍 I played those two albums a ton of times back in the day. And I'm a fan of Pulp as well although to a lesser extent.
