      GJJS hey bro, i see you having the same problem as me, did you change your O2 sensors or the catalytic converter? my mechanic is saying i have to change the catalytic converter and it will cost around $400. i feel they robbing me

    • @Black_Sniper2587

      Emran Ali i changed all that but a mechanic told me there may be a clog somewhere in the intake manifold.

      @@emranali1705 if the change is for a complete exhaust manifold that have one catalytic conveter cartdrige inside, $400 its probably a big deal. If your mechanics just gonna put a new catalytic converter into your manifold it should cost just $200 but i dont know if it is legal into your country

    Upstream smooths out acceleration hesitation, downstream smooths out backpressure when decelerating. Noted that when I replaced mine. Good video!

    Well done young man ( well u may be old now due to when this vid was made ). Im an older home mechanic and you went through the diagnosis steps very quickly and clearly. Ticking each negative result off as you went, this was very helpful to me and comfirmed component parts I needed to check and possible results. Thanks for the Video work and succinct commentry ; Your still helping people yrs after.

    Hi there.
    1.Check if you have bad inner & outer tie rods.
    2.If you have good or changed inner/outer tie rods and still feel vibration, try doing the alignment or check if your front wheels are good.
    The main cause of the vibration is the bad wheels/tires.
    Suggestion: you can try replace your front wheels with rear wheels to see if that will do it.
    good luck

    Hi. He was just showing how to disassemble/reassemble the IAC so that you can clean the inside or you can change the parts that need to be changed.
    .
    If you don't wanna mess with it, I would say clean it like I did at 2:19
    .
    Or you can buy a cheap non-OEM one on eBay.com for $40, but I don't know if it's any good.

    Can you clean the down/up sensors with carb cleaner

  • @DarkDragonWing
    @DarkDragonWing  11 лет назад

    No problem. Oh, I believe I have showed you in the video how I took it out. I basically cut the wires and use a wrench, the ring wrench with another wrench to kind of give it a torque or a lever. So I can turn it easier. I thought I was gonna bring it to the mechanic, but I figured, I should ruin it before I pay some money. However, I got it out myself.

      DEFINE COLD....... the temp gauge is registering ABOVE the cold line,, and as long as the valves and rings have oil and condensation (if cold outside) is off the cylinder walls, rev it all you want.. But a first start after 8 hours straight to a redline..yeah thats just dumb.....

    Interesting video but.....why would you just start changing/cleaning random things? That is a complete waste of time and you seem way too smart to just do random stuff. Also buying your own "code scanner" seems like it would be well worth the $100 or so seeing how you do all your own work on these cars

    To change upstream sensor was easy for me . Downstream sensor for someone who never did it it's little challenging . Downstream sensor it's between driver and passenger side under the car "next to the catalyst converter" . When I was changing both sensors I just cut wire and removed it " so you don't need some special socket ".But to find out where to plug in new one 'downstream sensor :_) O my good > That took me a while to find out , because I didn't want to cut wires on new one . If you take carpet out on passenger side in the left corner close to the shifting gear is plug in .It took me 2 hours to change both sensors , but I'm glad I did it and for next time I can easily do this job in 1 hour .Anyway I have to thanks this guy

    I looked on Google images for the location of both sensors. So I think you should do the same, just search for IAC EVO 3 location or IAC EVO 3 replacing.

    Hi, if you can go to Ebay and search, these will be the ones I would buy:
    NEW DIRECT FIT O2 OXYGEN SENSOR REPLACEMENT - AIR FUEL RATIO PRE CAT UPSTREAM
    NEW DENSO 4W OXYGEN SENSOR MITSUBISHI VEHICLES VARIOUS
    First one is the upstream, and the second one is the downstream(it's universal and you'll have to wire it). The part numbers are varied due to different companies that make them.
    Here is another downstream that you don't have to wire anything:
    Bosch 15360 Oxygen Sensor

    Hey man! I got to say great job!! i got the same car and started following your tutorials to fix it up. I got to ask how much have you spent approx on repairing that car, considering only functional repairs like this one, axles, suspensión...

    • @DarkDragonWing
      @DarkDragonWing  9 лет назад

      mkl757 About $500 max. But it should be about $300 in the middle. Though, as you can see, I changed some parts that I didn't need to, so just for the function it should be $200 for stuff like tie-rods, spark plugs, heater gears, brake pads, and oxygen sensors.

      What code did this give you with the rough idle

    • @pinkyhotmessx69
      @pinkyhotmessx69 4 года назад

      Instead of removing the plug from the bottom why didn't you just cut the wires install then reattach the wires

  • @DarkDragonWing
    @DarkDragonWing  11 лет назад

    Did you unplug the battery before you did all that? If you think everything is good and in place and if you just want it to start it up, what I would do is lose the tube from the air filter to the intake, so that you can see the throttle hole, and spray some gasoline or engine starter spray in there. Not too much though, just enough to get the engine started. Good Luck!

  • @DarkDragonWing
    @DarkDragonWing  11 лет назад

    No, only one small piece of plastic there that you have to remove. So that you can lift up the carpet.
    And the reason why I cut the wires is because I want to fit the wrench ring on the censor. I couldn't take it out with the socket.

  • @DarkDragonWing
    @DarkDragonWing  11 лет назад

    I don't know the specific way for that, but the general ways to reset the car's electric system without a high-tech-code-reader are:
    1. Take off one of the battery cable for a couple of minutes. Then put it back.
    or
    2. Take both battery cables off, then touch them together and wait for like a couple of minutes. Then put them back.

    O2 sensors' rough idle: unstable idling, feel like a flood in the cylinders which gives no power when you try to accelerate it, seems to be fine once it's running for a while, happens every time when you start it up especially when it's cold...
    I would if the engine light says so. I also would even If the engine light isn't on or doesn't say if it doesn't cost much and I can do it myself. Otherwise, it could be a vacuum leak which I have no experience on that part.
    Hope that helps!

    • @MarcGyverIt
      @MarcGyverIt 9 лет назад

      A K There are some spots on the cylinder head where you should apply some liquid gasket when reapplying the valve cover with it's rubber gasket. You will see them when cleaning oil off the cylinder head, there will be a sort of line or bump where two piece of metal come together. If you ONLY use the valve cover gasket, and no liquid gasket, expect a leak soon.

    i have a 2003 lancer , starts no problem but when foot taken off accelerator it stalls and the motor does not idle. this video helps when after putting into the garage and them doing all other things and the car coming back with things not tightened up the air flow thingi and the problem still happening I can go back to them at least knowing what they should be doing. Me being a 77 yr old female would have tried myself years ago but I think I am past it now and have to rely on the garage

    • @DarkDragonWing
      @DarkDragonWing  2 года назад

      Hi. Yes, I would replace both upstream and downstream oxygen sensors with DENSO brand ones. This will fix hesitation, idling too high or too low, and stalls when stopping or accelerating. It is for sure if the engine code is P0421, P0171, P0134, or P0135.

    So was this fixed by changing the sensors? Or was the other things you did help?

    You mean the brand of the O2 sensors? The OEM brand for that is Denso.

    Nice! And just cut those sucker wires off and put a ring wrench on it and torque it with another wrench. :D And um I would suggest you to stay with Denso brand because that's the OEM for Lancer.
    Cheers!
