  • Today we'll going over a number of steps regarding the dreaded misfire code. It may seem a little intimidating, but simply checking each component, one by one, simplifies the job. We'll check the coil pack, spark plugs, fuel injector, harness connectors, relays and perform a compression test.

      Can you explain the compression test? Did he crank the engine 4 times rapidly? Why did the pressure increase in discrete steps? He seemed to gloss over that 🫤

      @@sciteceng2hedz358 He just held it cranking until the reading peaked...the pressure builds, it's not instantly at max.

      Why would my mechanic replace spark plug but not my ignition coil. My dodge calibe has a p2311 and now I’m fixing it as I watch him. Money down the damn drain. My light wasn’t flickering til he worked on it it was lit but not flickering

    Absolutely brilliant. I'd had an old school go. Then I saw your video. I have exactly that engine and a misfire. Pulled the covers off and did all your diagnostics . I swapped coil packs while engine running. The misfire followed the coil pack. So off to get one tomorrow. Many thanks.

    This is an excellent tutorial! I appreciate the overview style of instruction about the topic. Other instructional videos tend to troubleshoot active problems; this approach is fine if I happen to be fixing the exact same problem. Unfortunately, because my problem is usually slightly different than what’s presented in the video, I have to rely heavily on background knowledge and / or piecing together information from multiple other videos. In this video, he outlines the fundamentals and then briefly explains how to troubleshoot and fix the multitude of possible issues. It’s a well rounded and succinct way to explain a topic. I’m working on a dodge v6 engine while he’s working on a Honda 4 cylinder and it’s still the video I prefer. 😅

    Brilliant video even more briliant explaining how everything can be tested made me want to go out and check mine out just for fun. I am sure getting tired of all the shady mechanics and stealerships we have in this world. Guys like this guy explaining everything in the video is proof that people are still nice in the world and want to help you out instead of stealng you blind which is hard to find. Thanks for such an awesome video from start to finish i felt like i was not lied to one bit and also felt like i learned alot and now feel comfortable to try stuff more on my own then to be ripped off by the stealership or a shady mechanic. Once again thank you for all you do.

    Great video mate. One suggestion for coil/spark plug testing...say code is for Cyl 1, swap coils between 1 and 2 and plugs between 1 and 3, if the fault goes to 2 or 3 you have the answer. If the fault stays on 1 you have ruled out coil and plug in one go.

    We had these codes pop up for 2000 tacoma v6 shortly after changing sparkplugs after purchasing used. Turns out we had broken the tabs on ignition coils that led to bad connection. Connector plug wasnt sitting right causing misfires. We replaced coilpack and connectors too so might as well. Sparkplug wires is next because one tab is broken too and its held on by zipties. Thanks for breaking it down for us!

    Question if I just got the plugs and the ignition coils replaced and I get the same p303 code?

  • @thelostshadowofhanzo
    @thelostshadowofhanzo Год назад +1

    Just a couple comments, for one in my many years experience most vehicles have the relays and fuses for the engine in the engine compartment. Normally the fuse box for the cabin electrics like the lights, windows, door locks, dash, HVAC, entertainment, etc, is in the cabin. Two while doing an OHMs test can tell you if an injector has either a complete open or shorted circuit on the primary windings inside, it will not test if the pintal is moving or if there is a partial break that is causing the injector to not generate a good magnetic field to move the pintal. An injector being mechanically stuck is more common then an electronic fault, which your resistance test with a multimeter will not show. Also you dis not mention the fact of the signal wires or testing the ground connection on either one of those circuits, which could also have a fault. I know what dealers say to test, but true diagnostic technicians know those are often poor testing methods the dealer has in their flow charts. Also you did not do a voltage drop test on either one of those circuits when testing your power feed, which is a superior test to testing for resistance which a wire that is almost completely cut will show up as ok when testing resistance. If you are going to show stuff like this, please show good testing methods instead of the bs that has been standard in the automotive community for too long.
