      @@GillyBikes I had this one - Lambretta 150 Li with same mudguard - dated first half of 60ties , There was at time awailable beutifull suprstructure to assmeble on top of hood pressed with chormium steel .Would be nice if it could be availabe today for RA. After I had lambretta TV 175 and both had all in own style -but they are not to be mixed.

    It’s styled on the S2 li TV Lambretta, that’s why the front mudguard is the way it is. I have the Lambretta S2 with a nannucci mudguard on it. I hope someone does one for the TG

    Love my TG. I have the ivory burgundy combo. As already said the front guard is to match the style of the time. I like the key is colour coded and matched to the side panel design 😉
    I swapped out to bar ends. Indicators are designed to match the rear panel handles.

    Great review. I noticed a mechanic ranting about it saying the engine is garbage... but that's only one person's viewpoint. Overall what is the general consensus, good, bad etc? Here in Australia I'm only seeing great reviews and have been considering selling my Vespa GTS300 to get one of the Royal Alloys....

    • @GillyBikes
      @GillyBikes  4 месяца назад

      Personally I wouldn’t change from the Vespa. The 300gts is a great bike. The RA’s are nice bikes but putting them side by side with the Vespa they are not as good. Still good. Just not as good. The Vespa is more comfortable and the engine has a bit more zip to it. The RA’s look great but in my opinion you swapping would be a downgrade.

    I like it. I just don't like all the 'chrome' I would rather have those bits in black. Vespa do a 'trim pack' that allows you to 'darken' your bike, um, scooter if you want. I don't know if RA or an aftermarket accessories company offer similar. I like the TG in bold single colours. They offer a deep red metallic that looks lovely. RA need to find those two extra ponies to take it up to the limit.

    • @GillyBikes
      @GillyBikes  Год назад +1

      I’m the same about the chrome. I think it looks nice when it’s all clean but I would never clean it so for me I would need less of it.

    • @clangerbasher
      @clangerbasher Год назад +1

      @@GillyBikes Yes that's me too. Even though the technology has improved when it comes to applying chrome (and all paints) if you don't look after it it becomes tatty even if it doesn't rust. I think both RA and Vespa would gain some sales with a 'street model'; something designed to help the rider keep it clean. Who knows? The new Lambrettas are offered in less shiny finishes and are supposedly dynamically better than RAs. Too much choice really.

    I'm a motorcycle mechanic, and I was recently asked to repair a blown base gasket on one of these machines. It was only just over 2 years old with 7,000 miles on it. The owner told me that he took it to his main dealers where he originally bought the machine, and they didn't want to repair it. They just wanted him to buy a new engine and get them to fit that for £2,000. Absolutely ridiculous. I said I would replace the gasket for him. I've not worked on one of these machines before, and thought I might have to take the engine out to get the head and cylinder off to get to the base gasket. It's fitted with a double overhead camshaft liquid cooled single cylinder Sym engine. I managed to get access to the topend without taking the engine out by removing the seat, tank and bodywork and subframe to get good access to the engine. It took 3 hours in total to complete the job. I wasn't impressed with the build quality of this machine compared to a Japanese scooter. This fault shouldn't have happened with such low mileage on a scooter that was regularly serviced by the dealer. The same dealer that tried to rip their customer off. Not good. I personally wouldn't recommend one of these scooters to a customer if asked about them.

      Not a SYM engine, nor is it derived from a SYM engine.

    • @GillyBikes
      @GillyBikes  7 месяцев назад

      Yes I think you’re right. The lambretta uses a sym engine. To be fair the sym engine in the Lambretta performs really well.
