Fun fact Addie! When Rocky gets Rocky Marciano’s cufflink from Mickey and asks what happened to the other one. Mickey says “he gave it to some bum.” Apollo has the other one! You see it around his neck in Rocky 2
Awesome, I had no idea
The reaction to the 'Redhead in the front row' line might be my favorite Addie moment yet!
There are moments in the Rocky series that I wanted to see how Addie reacts. That was one of them, and I'm waiting for the emotions of future installments.
Burgess Meredith (Mickey) didn't die until 1997. So this was actually him acting in Rocky 5, through flashbacks. If you really like his acting, go check out Grumpy Old Men, and it's sequel. He is hilarious 😅
Hey, don't forget his performances as the Penguin in the campy 1960s "Batman" TV series. Or his dramatic side on those various "Twilight Zone" episodes - my favorite was the bookworm episode.
@@hippusmaximus9319 The Twilight Zone episodes are: "Time Enough at Last," "Mr. Dingle, the Strong," "The Obsolete Man" and "Printer's Devil."
@@hippusmaximus9319 He was also in the original Clash of the Titans movie, he played Ammon, a playwright. And a young Maggie Smith was in it too (Professor McGonigal)
He was funny in that movie
"I ain't hear no bell"
"1 more round"
I know a lot of people didn't like it but I thought it was a natural progression. I enjoy it.
great line. and i think it is better all these years later because it is important to the story of the rest of them. ive always liked it, but as the "end' as it was in 92 or whenever it wouldnt hold up as much i think
Sad Fact 01: Rocky's son in this movie was played by his real life son Sage Stallone, he sadly died in 2012 of heart disease
“So who’s gonna die next?” Rocky’s bank account.💀
Rocky's line "You was the angel" always brings a tear to my eye. I'm kinda glad it wasn't shown in the reaction. LOL
“I didn’t hear no bell! ‘Cause Mickey loves ya.” Love it 🥰
Rocky and Adrian are the kind of love we should all want, they're the example.
The kid that plays Rocky’s son is his real son Sage Stallone. Sage was also in the movie Daylight with Sylvester. Too back Sage passed away in 2012
That's was Stallone's real life son in this movie. He happened to pass away in real life around 10 years ago.
“Yeah, well, I love almost everybody.” Is such a great line to end on. It really is true about Rocky 🥲
Between the first one and this one, it was 14 years. We had to wait SIXTEEN years to get another one after this. #IMAGINE
Nobody was waiting. We all assumed this was the last movie.
@@TheDrag0nSlayer I was. Nobody I knew thought they would end it on that weak entry.
This movie was supposed to be the final Rocky movie. Sylvester Stallone hated it so much that he vowed to write and star in "Rocky Balboa'. He put his own money on the line, and the result was, imo, one of the best Rocky movies ever. Then the Creed movies start. Stallone plays the character Rocky in both Creed 1 & 2. Without giving spoilers these 3 are Stallone at his peak. One word of advice, have plenty of Kleenex when you watch these last 3 Rocky/Creed movies.
It was dissapointing because it was bad timing.
@@lexkanyima2195 It was disappointing because Stallone was forced to do what the studio wanted. In an interview Stallone said, "I owe it to the fans that made Rocky the success it was to end the franchise "MY" way."
@@bobkupi9905 so why he has no plans back then in 1990 if he had timing right ?
He didn't put his own money up. The studio gave him a low 25 million dollar budget and it exploded to almost 100 million in sales. He was involved legal action because they kept preventing him from making it. He didn't hold the rights so even with his own money he couldn't make it. Another studio got the rights and that's how he got the greenlight. He wasn't in Creed 3 because of a feud with the original Rocky producer over the rights.
The irony of Paulie showing Rocky Jr. how to box is that Burt Young irl was a pretty good boxer in the marines.
Interesting note, this was supposed to be the final film. But as I’m sure you know, there came a sixth film called Rocky Balboa, and of course the Creed movies.
Should have been the final film.
@@MyBlackandRedCZno it honestly shouldn't have been.. Considering this is considered the worst film in the franchise it's not a great ending. Rocky Balboa and Creed films Are a much better way to remember this great franchise than Rocky 5
@@MyBlackandRedCZ nope. Rocky Balboa was a better ending! Even Stallone admits that it was an “apology” for Rocky V.
@@CrazeeAdam yep. I would’ve been cool if his storyline would’ve ended with Rocky Balboa.
On a sidenote, I’ve heard argument about he should not have been in the Creed movies. Only partially agree with that. You could make the argument that in the first movie, you could’ve done it without Rocky Balboa. But that second film? Hell no! Rocky had to be involved in that one. I personally would’ve waited to have them meet in the second Creed film.
What's sad is that both Sage Stallone (Rocky Jr) and Tommy Morrison (Tommy Gunn) have passed away. Morrison's death was really sad as he died of AIDS and kept trying to say he didn't have them, before he died his mugshot was taken and he looked like a 60 year homeless man.
And lived in denial until his death. Even his widow says he didn't have the disease. Sad because with treatment he could be around look at Magic Johnson who tried to mentor him but he wouldn't listen.
Rocky needs to sue the Dr's for telling his private medical issues
And also say he never box again
Why would he ?
That, and for saying his brain damage was “irreversible”. Because is Rocky Balboa, he passes his tests for a boxing license with flying colors.
8:04 Mickey's "Motivization To Stay Alive" speech makes me cry every time because after watching Creed, the speech has much more meaning than it does the first time watching Rocky V, because soon, Rocky will be in Mickey's shoes and he will understand how it feels to lose the motivation to stay alive when you lose everything and everyone, then someone unexpectedly comes along and inspires you to keep going. That scene and Creed 1 reminds me that though Rocky V isn't one of the best Rocky films, it is STILL RELEVANT. Remember, nature is smarter than people think.
The bartender in these films, in this bar, is played by a comedian called Don Sherman, who went way back, working with the likes of Lenny Bruce. His daughter, Amy Sherman-Palladino is the writer of the Marvellous Mrs Maisel, set in the comedy scene her dad worked in, and featuring Lenny Bruce as a character.
Also, Addie's reaction to 'the redhead in the front row' was everything bar a 'how dare you?!'.
I bet if they had known they were gonna make 6 Rocky movies, they probably would've downplayed his injuries a little more. In part 2, they were worried he might lose vision in one eye, but that seemed to miraculously go away in parts 3 and 4.
Hi Addie, just in case you missed it, in this movie, Robert Jr is interpreted by Sage Stallone, Sylvester's elder son, which sadly passed away in 2012. He has also starred with his father in Daylight (1996), which I suggest you put on your watch list. There isn't actually many reactions to it, now I think of it (at least amongst the v-tubers I follow), and it's a shame as I consider it one of my favorite disaster movies.
I love your passion for the Rocky series, Mickey and Apollo. I feel the same way.
Rest in peace
Burgess Meredith(Mickey)
Tommy Morrison(Tommy Gunn)
Sage Stallone(Robert Balboa)
the actor who played Duke
Burt Young(Paulie)
Carl Weathers(Apollo Creed)
the woman who played Apollo Creed's wife in Rocky IV
Apollo's wife was played by Sylvia Meals and she was also in Rocky II
Brain injuries in boxers are called "punch drink" a derogatory term is Punchy. Pay attention in a later movie when someone used the term "Punchy"
Best thing about five, is that six comes right after it and its awesome.
The other Rocky movies are so good it's hard to keep up the streak and while this is the weakest, I still enjoy it and it definitely has some great moments...
RIP Sage Stallone aka Rocky's son.
I am ROCKY'S fan number one, i watch every rocky reaction on youtube and i love almost everybody, but yours was really great, you almost done keep it going, and thank you for talking so much to us after that movie, that is great!
Same here .... 47 years old and started watching Rocky when I was maybe 3 years old 😂
Looking forward to seeing your reaction to rocky balboa. Feels like it has the vibes of the first 2
Tommy Gun (Morrison) actually won the heavy weight title from George Foreman ( yes that George Foreman) in real life.
A great reaction. I tell you why I like this movie because for a couple reasons one the kid is played by his real son in real life. That’s a nice touch too. It shows that rocket didn’t care about the money keep down they’re still the same rocking Adrian, where they have a nice house, lots of money or they’re back to the old neighborhood so even though we knew she loved him, there’s no doubt now at all family comes first especially when Polly lost all their money and he still kept him like there’s nothing because he’s all just a mistake to the fact that was pushing him to fight until they hit Polly and hurt him badly that’s what made Rocky fight hurt. His family hurt his family, that’s it. It’s out of war if Tommy had done the right way he would’ve been loved by the people just like Rocky was they weren’t calling him Rocky cologne it’s the guy that was doing the motor he put out in paper so descension people would’ve loved to have seen rocket protégé, become a champion And I love the most the people behind Rocky even in the bar help and they watched him fight and they loved it. Thanks for the fun until next time.
Mickey was actually smarter than most gave him credit for. I briefly lived in Pennsylvania in the 1980's and found out that if a piece of property (Mickey's Gym) is willed to a minor (Rocky Jr.), it's not subject to state and inheritance taxes. Mickey was looking out for Rocky by looking out for all of them.
The classic scene with Burgess Meredith was almost word for word from a Cus Damato interview talking about a young Kid Dynamite ❤😂
I genuinely like this movie. It gets a bad rap, but it's got some really great moments.
This part hurts even more because Stallone's real son Sage played in this movie but died at the age of 36
Fun fact the kid bullying Rocky's son is E from HBO's Entourage aka Kevin Connelly.
Addie idk if you've already seen the animated Avatar: The Last Airbender series, but watching you react to that story/show would be lovely I think. Seems right up your alley.
True YT needs more reactors watching ATLA series in general
Wouldn't be surprised if she's already seen it.
When you watch Rocky Balboa remember it's been a 16 years since Rocky 5
Tommy Gunn was John Wayne's Nephew or great nephew. He was a real pro boxer and was making a name for himself until it was discovered that he had Aids. He lost his license to fight after that and it wasn't too long before Aids took his life.
Ivan Drago literally broke Rocky.. Inside. And gave him some sort of PTSD IMO with the flashes he gets after that fight. :( hard to see Rocky struggle so much.
The last Rocky Balboa or Rocky 6 in some countries. Thats the one that hits deep.
The next 4 movies are absolutely amazing... can't wait for your reactions!
3:14 Introducing the late Sage Stallone
Waiting patiently for your reaction to the next one, Rocky Balboa
Rocky was supposed to die in this movie. In the ambulance on the way to the hospital with Adrian by his side. We liked this ending more. Tommy Morrison was a professional boxer and former heavyweight champion. He was John Wayne's grandnephew. He was nibbled on by the acting bug. This is the only movie of his I ever watched. Sad. Like Tommy Gunn, he had troubles outside the ring. He passed away way too soon. Sage Stallone, Rocky Jr, died the year before Tommy. That was really sad. Most of what we know Sly from happened at a greater age than Sage ever attained. Who knows what we might have missed? Thanks for feeling the love.
I can't remember what movie it was, maybe back to the future, but there was a movie poster for Rocky 25, lol
Airplane II: The Sequel there is a poster for Rocky 25 with an old man in boxing gloves....
And in Spaceballs, Pongo reviews Rocky 5...Thousand.
Back To The Future Part II has a 3-D hologram of Jaws 19 that tried to eat Marty....but "the shark still looks fake".
Been waiting and waiting and waiting while you slog through 2 - 5 for you to get to Rocky Balboa. I can't wait!
Mickey telling Rocky he was only living because of him is literally what Mike Tyson's trainer Cus said about Mike, and Tommy Gunn was actually Tommy Morrison a pro boxer who campaigned to fight Mike back in the day
Happy Birthday!
Originally Rocky IV was supposed to be the last movie in the series. I'm glad they did not end it there because I really like Rocky Balboa a lot. Can't wait for you to watch that one Addie.
All of them were supposed to be "the last one" ever since "Rocky III." Stallone has been saying it since 1982. The only reason he made "Rocky IV" is because "Rhinestone" hurt his career so badly that he had to follow it up with both a Rambo and Rocky movie the next year.
@ConstantineFurman Possibly, but none of the ones before or since had a montage of the other movies at the end. Also, didn't Stallone plan on killing Rocky in this one too?
"Get up you son of a bitch! 'Cause Mickey loves you!"😢and "Yo Tommy! I didn't hear no bell!" 🤗
This is the first time I've seen Paulie in any Rocky films since Burt Young died. :(
Merry Christmas 🎅 Yo yo yo. 😂😂. Paulie.
You can tune a piano but you can’t tuna fish! Yes it’s a dad joke but it’s also the name of an REO Speed Wagon album. I recommend everyone listen to it.
I think its fair to say Rocky 5 is the least liked of the saga. But Rocky Balboa is a perfect love letter to the fans, and a must watch. Plus or minus a short break to give the story sometime to breath. You have to remember some 20 years passed between films. So it really is a reunion with old friends.
I consider Addie and all her subs & patrons to be quite the Home Team, too.
17:32 Don’t worry. I don’t think I put that together until watching your reactions to these movies I’ve seen a hundred times 😅
23:20 I have ALWAYS loved this slo-mo close up of Rocky.
Great reaction Addie to a classic rocky movie
This happens to be my FAVORITE of the ROCKY Series! So unfortunate how Tommy Morrison lived his Life, being so powerful, and yet so delicate...
Why the F did I cry? I have seen this movie several times since the first time in the cinema.
I always assumed we would see a Rocky 2,486 but instead we are witnessing Fast & Furious 12 coming out.
Honestly, if a movie franchise has more than four movies they are mostly crap after the first two.
Jaws is a great example of that.
Of course there are some out there that shatter that but we all know that the two movie thing is pretty much standard.
Loving the reviews can’t wait for the wrap up after Rocky Balboa movie
Back when I was younger I really hate this movie, but the more I watch it, the more I appreciate it, my main problem with this movie were the poor music choices, and some cringey lines in some scenes, but this movie also have the best line from adrian when she was talking to rocky in the streets.
I think its because back then it was the last one, but now it adds more to the entire Rocky saga since it ended up continuing.
Agree, the music dates it more than the earlier movies, and don't hate buy I think Talia shire's performance was her weakest in the series, still I'll always love her as Adrian, which was also my uncle's name and I grew up watching these movies with him before he passed 10 years ago...
@@iad77how can she be weak in Rocky V ?
@@lexkanyima2195 I meant her acting
@@iad77 in Rocky V ?Hell no
Can't wait until you see Rocky Balboa.
Fists to the face are actually much safer, especially for Rocky. The gloves are to keep your hands from breaking and allowing you to keep punching since you are hurting your hands, but the damage is worse because it doesnt cut the face as much and the damage is all internal to the head. when you use the fists, you usually bleed much more and also you dont hurt your own hands so you can keep punching that much more
Great Reaction
You still have another ROCKY to go.
awesome reaction! hope u continue through the creed series!
Can't wait for the next Rocky movie reaction!
Its wild the 5 year difference. Is supposed to be right after and the son is much older. Lol
10:26 Introducing the late Tommy Morrison, nephew of Marion Morrison (A.K.A. John Wayne)
This one gets slated a lot. But I liked that it went back to the dramatic roots of the original and tried to be a drama instead of an action film like the previous two sequels. There are some really good emotional moments in it, too. Good reaction!
I always had the suspicion that George Washington Duke had something to do with Rocky's financial troubles in this film as another means of getting him to fight.
There's something about them redheads on the front row!! LOL
Hello Addie, the boxer he fights in this fight is a Professional fighter. 🥊🥊
boxing gloves were created to protect the hands not the head, they actually cause more damage to the brain then bare knuckles. bare knuckles or smaller gloves like in MMA will cause more cuts but dont jar the brain the way gloves do. i think thats how they rationalized rocky fighting in this movie.
Another great reaction! I feel the same way you do about this one. I wish they could’ve focused on setting up a boxing match instead of a street brawl. It’s like they forgot about Rocky’s health towards the end because a street fight would worsen his health. And they arrested Tommy because he’s a bad guy even though they both were fighting each other in the streets broadcasted on tv smh.
Rocky is from the streets, so he had no choice
His son Sage Stallone plays his son on here. Sage died in 2012.
You got some good ones coming up. Rocky Balboa and then the 3 Creed movies. They come back strong
I can't wait for your Rocky Balboa reaction.
" U knocked him down u try knocking me down now!"
I remember hearing this line when i saw it in the theater and remember thinking, ah oh, Tommys about to get beat down
@@bobapjok4241 😂
Rocky had a memorable line in every film
Rocky : WHAT ABOUT MY PRIME MICK LEAST U HAD A PRIME!
Rocky 2: I was wondering if u wouldn't mind marrying me very much
Rocky 3: IF A MAN DOESNT BELIEVE IN HIMSELF ITS OVER ITS FINISHED
Rocky 4: I guess 2 men killing each other in the ring is better than 20 million......
Great line
This one gets alot of hate but i love the mickey speech and love the streetfight so much
Just know that the rest are all great again!
You’ll revisit Apollo in the Creed series and get closure for ALL the fighters from Rocky 4
When there are 6 films in a franchise, there always has to be a worst one. That said, Rocky Balboa is top form. Looking forward to your reaction to that one :)
Sylvester Stallone originally wrote Rocky to die at the end, he even went so far as to film it, but focus groups preferred this ending so he kept it. Compared to how well received Rocky 4 was, he knew the follow up would never live up to the predecessor.
This is not true. Rocky's death was never filmed. Focus groups never saw it because it doesn't exist on film. They began shooting the movie with the belief that Rocky would die at the end, but a week into shooting, the studio stepped in and said, "No, Rocky's not going to die."
@@ConstantineFurmanthey almost
Nice react. Now, let's go to the 6 and...The Creed Saga, I think you gonna love it. A hello from Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Tommy Gunn, played by Tommy Morrison was a real fighter. He died in 2013 from multible organ failer caused by his HIV positive diagnosis.
Yeah this one is a little rough 😅Anyways so excited for Rocky Balboa and Creed 1&2
thay only get better now, Please see the Balboa deleted sceene after,
Dont feel bad, ive been seeing thesw movies since the 90's and never knew he was robert
This one is a mere speed bump. After this, it gets back on track. What Stallone was trying to accomplish in this one he accomplishes later on, he just wasn't old enough yet. Just keep punching Addie.
This is a love story with boxing in it.
they show the end credit. because this is suppose to the end of rocky franchise. then theres rocky balboa
Rocky 5 was considered a poor LAST film of the series... kind of depressing. But years later when Stallone makes Part 6 (Rocky Balboa) Part 5 and 6 really fit together as a longer story. While I never hated it, after 6, I respect 5 a lot more as one bigger story
Your will LOVE the Creed movies. Keep going.
This has always been my least favorite of the Rocky films. Not a terrible movie, but not quite the heart of the other films. But I also think it has some great moments which makes it required viewing for the series as a whole. I can't wait for you to watch Rocky Balboa. Definitely grab a box of tissues though! As much as you are in love with these characters and the story that it has been telling, you can't watch that one without a flood of emotions! It was the perfect ending to one of the greatest film series ever made! And then they made the Creed films which totally surprised me. I never thought I'd see Rocky again and he showed up. Continue the journey and go the distance!
Whoaaaaa, I've just realised, you look like Captain Janeway!!
