    A little trick id recommend to all new viewers is updating your volume settings, limiting the "max volume" (avoids someone cranking up your system to dangerous levels) and setting an "initial volume" level so your system will always be set at a safe volume level when turning on your receiver. This way you can avoid blowing out your system.

    FYI - The higher you set the crossover subwoofer the "more" it will work and kick in. If you don't want it to work as much as you stated in your video, set it lower at 80hz or below instead of the 100hz like you have yours set at. In my home system I have my subwoofer crossover set at in the 80 - 60hz range depending what music I'm playing.

    • @Turtleback8024
      @Turtleback8024 10 месяцев назад

      How do you cross a subwoofer over on the V6A? I could cross my L+R, C, SR, SL over to their respective crossover points. But the subwoofer doesn't have a crossover setting at least on my V6A? In regards to having to crossover your speakers higher to get the subwoofer output (I guess you're referring to 2ch stereo listening?🤔), I've heard that to get the subwoofer output in 2ch stereo , you'd have to configure your speakers differently from the YPAO settings, i.e FRONT: Large, with EXTRA BASS turned to "ON", meaning you'd have to run your FRONTS "Full range" and EXTRA BASS will bring the subwoofer on. Terrible bass management by Yamaha!!! Now there's extra demand on the Receiver, and added load on the speakers, risking the Receiver's possibility to run hot! This is just weird!!!

    I have a Yamaha RX-V473. I just hooked up some new NS-51 speakers. Before that I was running two 30yo stereo speakers and ran the amp at pretty much full volume just to watch tv at a volume that could be heard.
    I thought the new speakers would be better but I’m still cranking the amp to -16 to watch a a movie and thought it would be blowing the window out the lounge by now. My 30yo speakers sounded better.
    This is the start of the rabbit hole of set up so thanks for the details.
    I think I’m probably going to call the guy as I’ve ran out of menu options and none of this makes sense. 😂 I love music, but even my JBL speaker the size of a clock radio is louder and easier to setup. 😂

  • @GSP-76
    @GSP-76 3 года назад +7

    All your speakers in a home theater setup should be set to "small" in the receiver. Use auto calibration as a starting point to begin fine tuning. If you have crossover frequency knob on your subwoofer, turn it to the max. Do all your calibration on the receiver. If you don't want to go through a long calibration process, set all your crossover frequency to 80hz.

      mostly true unless you have some large floor standing units with large woofers already in there.... then you could set those to large and prob get away with no sub(s)
      My preferred method is large bookshelf spkrs,, a center and rear bookshelf surrounds and 2 subs; all of the speakers are set to SMALL just like you are saying; and that’s for the crossover freqs going to them properly

      @toxin7883 True. The problem I have with that is the FRONTS are now FULL RANGE with no ability to set the crossover points as they are bypassed and greyed out on the menu. Doesn't this demand more power from the Receiver and more load on the speakers? What about the possibility of bass frequency overlap between the MAINS and the subwoofer? This is strange bass management by Yamaha. With my Onkyo NR686 I could easily set my 2ch stereo to "MAINS + LFE." And that setting doesn't exist on the yamahas. Weird!

    • @GSP-76
      @GSP-76 10 месяцев назад

      @@Turtleback8024 Are you running just two speakers or a full 5.1/7.1 setup? If it's just a two speaker setup, you would want them running full range..if a sub is present, then you could set a crossover... check the menu where it defines the system first. That has to match what you have before you start tuning... meaning make sure the receiver doesn't think you're running a 5.1 system if it's 2.1.

    I have a Yamaha TSR-700 with a 7.1 speaker setup. Sound works great when on my Bluray 4k Player, decoding 7.1 ch sound track and all speakers work as they should. When I switch to my NVIDIA Shield and stream 5.1 ch encoded content, the rear speakers get disabled and the left and right presence speakers become the rear speakers. It is absolutely driving me insane on how to fix this. Is there a setting that I need to use ... there many other people that are struggling with this.

    Thanks so much SUGAREY! This helped a lot! One quick question. I am setting the levels on my TSR-700. What volume level should I set the receiver at, when using the test tone to read the tone with a decibel meter? I am only able to achieve 57dB, and not the recommended reference level of 75dB. I am using Klipsch Reference speakers, which should easily be able to handle the load.

    • @sugarey

      What I do is start with the YPAO/RSC configuration. Which then I believe the sweet spot for my TSR-700+Jamo speakers is ~56-60 volume (I change from db). From there I use the test tone and distant to tweak to my personal preference. Hope this helps.

Paired with Klipsch reference speakers, larger center channel, and front bookshelf speakers, the TSR-700 is a sweet machine!

    • @sugarey

      Yes you can use the “zone 2”. If you look at the speaker terminals it’s labeled “extra sp1” or “zone”. Then turn on “party mode” for all the speakers to work. You could try to wire the speakers in parallel like daisy chaining two of them for left and right. Hope this helps.

      Do you get the message "CHECK SP WIRE" when you turn your receiver back on? If so you might be having some exposed speaker wire strands touching or a stray wire causing the receiver to auto shut off as a safeguard against short circuiting. I had this issue when I set my receiver up, it kept shutting off during the YPAO calibration when it would get to the surround speakers, turns our there were exposed wires, once I cut the wires and restriped the system worked just fine.

And finally, when I select say radio, that always works with the headsets.
