Hi Guys! Novice question: Does this AVR have enough power for my Klipsch 5.1 system: • (2) RP8000F Towers 600w [Front] • (1) SPL-120 12” 300W [Subwoofer] • (1) RP 404C [Center] • (2) RP 600M [Bookshelf rears] • AVR: Yamaha - RX-V6A 7.2-channel AV Receiver (RX-V6A) *100 watts per channel into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.06% THD, with 2 channels driven. I have two questions: Is this enough power for my setup or am I risking damaging my speakers? If this is insufficient power for my setup which amp do you recommend? I watched your Dyno test but I've also heard that I should have at least 150w for these RP 8000F speakers. The Spec sheet says "POWER HANDLING (CONT/PEAK) 150/600" So I am a bit confused.
Honestly it would power your set up just fine, the speakers are drawing the power so there's no chance of damaging them unless you play at 115 plus dbs. For your particular set up though we would actually recommend you go with the RX-A2, stay tuned for that video. Aventage is the way to go with that much reference premiere in the room. We also have plenty in stock so consider us when it comes to your purchase, we offer the best pricing and nationwide free shipping!
As for the max output the reciever easily pushed those towers upward of 180 watts RMS. Cleaner power from the aventage A2 with a bit more wattage would be a better choice. Also bare in mind that 150/600 is absolute maximum output which would blow out your ears. Realistically you'll only ever access about 60-70 of your speaker and recievers capabilities at the max volume that your ears could take.
I have the same exact speaker setup as you, I’m pushing everything (subs have own power, speakers set to small) with a cheap Denon 5.1 @80 watt x2 right now, (Onkyo receiver bit the dust on me and couldn’t afford a good unit at the time). My room is around 350 sq ft, and even the cheap Denon gets the job done. Can’t wait to get the Yamaha. Those Klipsch reference premiers are very easy to drive, thinking about getting an 8watt tube amp just to experiment with for music.
Hello sir recently I bought a Yamaha v6a in India … there was a another option of onkyo th 6100 and denon 1700h .. can u tell me, out of these which is better.. So that I can change
Better tuning capabilities on the Yamaha. A little bit more power on the 1700h. I would stick with the Yamaha. It’s quite good. Just go into the parametric EQ and make the manual changes if you want to change the sound
Be nice to see ive got lx59 it awesome other then no dolby vision or hdr 10+ pass through but I just about get around it.but I am thinking of getting a qsc power amp to run front speakers thats video has convinced me more with how much power front 3 run and rest hardly any.
I take this beauty can't power 7.X.2, correct? As in, you either go 7.X or 5.X.2, but not both despite the nine speaker terminals, as it's just 7 channels at once, right?
You got it, the new aventage recievers coming soon will for sure do 9. The higher end Aventage should hopefully do up to 13 but we'll just have to wait and see. No leaks out there yet.
Yes but it can power all the terminals; i.e. you can connect Side, Rear and Height speakers simultaneously. In Atmos content the height speakers play instead of rears but if no height channel content is present (no Atmos or DTS:X) then other channels can play in 7.1
I love your video but have a comment. The RX-V6A is actually rated at 100 watts per channel * 2 under the following condition (20Hz-20kHz, 2ch driven at 0.06% Total Harmonic Distortion). So that's 200 watts in stereo or with 2 channels driven. You can verify the same from the owner's manual. The specs on the website can be a little confusing. I presume that the reason you didn't achieve that power was perhaps because the volume was set to 0 and not cranked up further (On some Yamahas, there is the option of changing the scale from the default db scale to the more old-school 0-99). The volume control is logarithmic rather than linear and it gets much more sensitive as you crank up the volume. I have a lot of Yamaha equipment, including an Aventage RX-A850 and the more humble, RX-V683 and swear by their build quality and long-term reliability.
Thanks for watching buddy and we appreciate your comment. This wasn’t a two channel driven test. This was a surround test showing how the power is moved around during an actual movie. The numbers that we hit were fantastic. Mind you the Ohm load was a bit lower on these particular units. We other AVR tests coming soon! We look forward to your comments on future videos!
Layout, I have a PC and PS5 plugged into this avr, and avr to lg cx tv. All high speed hdmi. I have the LG magic remote set with arc to power and control volume on my avr. Question, 1) Does anyone know how to get the LG magic remote to go thought my avr source? I would love to easily switch between my inputs. 2) Everytime I power on my avr with my lg magic remote, it automatically uses the tv source on my avr. I would like it to use the hdmi 1 source instead. Does anyone know how to set this up?
You are testing the peak power aren't you? Shouldn't you be getting at least 200 watts on those tests (I think peak wattage is usually at least double RMS) can you test the RMS ACD?
It has hdmi 2.1, but, due to a hardware bug, if you plug the PS5 directly into the receiver, you won’t get 4K 120. Yamaha will be doing a free hdmi board replacement sometime in the fall to fix that problem. Otherwise this is a great unit that punches well above it’s price point.
Hi guys, i love your review and am looking forward to buy mine. can anybody tell me where is can buy a good test dvd for sound like the one used in the video?
You can Download them online. Google Dolby sample trailers or Dolby Atmos samples. Once Downloaded, you can either burn them to Disc or store them on NAS or put them in Flash Drive. As you like. Hope this helps.
@@trufnk the receiver is 6 ohm stable which means you need to use 6 ohm or 8 ohm Tower speakers or in wall speakers. The receiver does however have the ability to power a couple of strong front Tower speakers for the left and right channel only at 4 Ohms. Every speaker on the market has an OHM rating and you'll find it listed on the back of the speaker itself. If you go below the stable ohm rating on the receiver, you'll burn up the receiver
@@DivineAV Thanks was looking at Emotivas which are 4 ohm and I believe you can only amp the first two front channels with this receiver, so either this is a no go or I need to look at other speakers...bummer.
How do you get the "Dolby Atmos" words show up on the display of the receiver? I have this receiver and I only use Apple TV 4K. I can never get Dolby Atmos to show on the display.
The readout will say atmos when its producing atmos. If you are watching Atmos content on an atmos enabled device and not seeing that then you don't have your TV or streaming device settings correct. The TV or Apple TV device is probably decoding the audio. You want the receiver to do it instead.
I had this same issue via Xbox One. Had to change settings on Xbox to bitstream out and installed a Dolby app on Xbox too that fixed it, found RUclips videos on it too. Also make sure Direct mode on Yamaha is off.
Thank you Gents for the Common Man's explanation of what AVRs will do regarding power/ performance. This little Yammy is quite impressive isn't it? Do you think ATMOS [for background/atmospheric sound] runs any more constant than does main layer background surround sound ?
Yeah this thing can put out some power. It's a great receiver. During our Atmos testing, we see basically the same result but the power gets moved around a bit differently. We noticed how much greater balance between how much power was sent to the front stage versus how much power get sent to the surround and overhead
The Xbox Series S does not play nice in CEC with my Onkyo receiver at all, in fact, when it's active, it straight up breaks CEC functionality with all other devices connected to it. It's really frustrating.
The meter shows the RMS wattage per speaker during the scene. It's not an exact constant RMS wattage because it's not something like a test tone, the wattage varies during the film
audiovision de tested also Yamaha RX-V6A: 7 channels driven continuosly at 1khz into 6 ohm speakers shows 22 watts only and 5 channels 44 watts only ... but somehow you measured 119 Watts 7 channels driven ... in reality you need something like Marantz SR8015 to get such high RMS power on 7 channels at the same time!
If you watch the video again, you will see that during a movie, the power is utilized entirely differently. The speakers are never playing the same thing at the same time. They are playing all different sounds at various points in the movie. Having the exact same output from every channel is not a real world use. Any standard AVR above about $500 can do a pretty decent job for anyone with a mid range budget. We were showing a live Dyno test with actual speakers. It’s literally what the gauge was reading so audiovision should probably do more realistic testing so people can get a good idea of what they actually need. Thanks for your comment
They're just shy of 4 feet and there a very very few speakers anywhere near 6 feet on the market. Actually more like none short of actual movie theater speakers(which we've installed) and those aren't even called "towers". Its industry standard to call floorstanding speakers towers. Also reiterate your question, what do you mean by, "what are the speakers crossed at?" The terminology is off there, that can mean a multitude of things.
I wanted to give all the thumbs up for this test but you are repeating the "Like Subscribe support us" almost every 3minutes of the video. At the end i decided to dislike just for that. How about the new Yamaha RX-A2A? Got one yet? It is supposed to fix all the problems relating to some of the Gaming inputs.
;) it's in route
denon avr-x2700h vs yamaha rx-v6a better is ?????
Hi Guys! Novice question:
Does this AVR have enough power for my Klipsch 5.1 system:
• (2) RP8000F Towers 600w [Front]
• (1) SPL-120 12” 300W [Subwoofer]
• (1) RP 404C [Center]
• (2) RP 600M [Bookshelf rears]
• AVR: Yamaha - RX-V6A 7.2-channel AV Receiver (RX-V6A)
*100 watts per channel into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.06% THD, with 2 channels driven.
I have two questions:
Is this enough power for my setup or am I risking damaging my speakers?
@@DivineAV Thank you for the feedback and recommendation.
È possibile utilizzare jack a banana dietro all' RX v6a ???? Quale jack quali dimensioni ????
Hello sir recently I bought a Yamaha v6a in India … there was a another option of onkyo th 6100 and denon 1700h .. can u tell me, out of these which is better.. So that I can change
Better tuning capabilities on the Yamaha. A little bit more power on the 1700h. I would stick with the Yamaha. It’s quite good. Just go into the parametric EQ and make the manual changes if you want to change the sound
Good afternoon, can you tell me why when I turn on spotify in zone 2, the sound is turned on in the main zone as well? Party mode is disabled.
Would be nice if yall could test Pioneer sc lx series. I want to see if the class d3 is the real deal of power
We may get our hands on one of those after the holiday and have some fun
Be nice to see ive got lx59 it awesome other then no dolby vision or hdr 10+ pass through but I just about get around it.but I am thinking of getting a qsc power amp to run front speakers thats video has convinced me more with how much power front 3 run and rest hardly any.
whats the actual rms rating in 2 stereo direct in 8ohms ang 4ohm load?
So does this amplifier go above what the power supply is rated for? 360watts.
Where did you guys get the dolby test disc? Can i buy it as well, is it consumer sale?
The Denon AVRs display the audio codecs like DD, DTS, DTS HD MA, DOLBY TRUE HD, does Yamaha RX-V6A depicts this info on its display panel ?
Yes
Thanks
Keep it up guys.
Any chance of a 7 channel driven test on a Denon AVR-X4700H or the Denon AVR-X6700H?
Denon x2600h 7 channels driven rating please
We may give that a shot pretty soon. A lot goes into the production. Takes over 10 hours total with editing
Can you ship to Australia?? I mean speakers not powered audio
So is this yamaha a2a worth buying with a 2 ch emotiva. For L&R
It will definitely do the job but I would recommend saving up and going with something that has Dirac Live.
Also how did d receiver compare to denon x2700
Anyone know when the HDR firmware update is coming ?
Layout,
I have a PC and PS5 plugged into this avr, and avr to lg cx tv. All high speed hdmi. I have the LG magic remote set with arc to power and control volume on my avr.
Question,
1) Does anyone know how to get the LG magic remote to go thought my avr source? I would love to easily switch between my inputs.
2) Everytime I power on my avr with my lg magic remote, it automatically uses the tv source on my avr. I would like it to use the hdmi 1 source instead. Does anyone know how to set this up?
You are testing the peak power aren't you? Shouldn't you be getting at least 200 watts on those tests (I think peak wattage is usually at least double RMS) can you test the RMS ACD?
What volume u had the reciver at? When testing
Set at 0
Hi great show👍👍, does this amp work with the PS5 ?, keep up the good work👍👍.
Yes it has HDMI 2.1
@@felixr6307 Thanks bro👍👍.
Thanks Can this drive 4 ohm speakers?
Yes, front left and right only
@Divine AV Home Theater Can you explain what this means?
Hi guys, what will be the difference between the RX-V6 and RX-A2A
We will be doing a comparison video very soon.
Yamaha the best!
Curious to see what the new Marantz SR5015 would manage too pull off
Great video you guys btw. Had a old school Yamaha amp. Built very tough. Could handle some very demanding speakers.
Thanks buddy, yeah Yamaha makes good products for sure
mine has 0.005 of distortion now they dont have
What was that Dolby Atmos test thing on? A disk?
It's just a standard amp dyno. We had to film multiple times. Difficult video to make
Great video
what song are you playing??? cant find NCS??? what song? Name , artis???
NCS Lune

Thank you Gents for the Common Man's explanation of what AVRs will do regarding power/ performance.
This little Yammy is quite impressive isn't it?
Do you think ATMOS [for background/atmospheric sound] runs any more constant than does main layer background surround sound ?
Yeah this thing can put out some power. It's a great receiver. During our Atmos testing, we see basically the same result but the power gets moved around a bit differently. We noticed how much greater balance between how much power was sent to the front stage versus how much power get sent to the surround and overhead
Thanks for watching buddy
Unreal
Hi do you know how to get this receiver to turn on automatically when my xbox series x turns on
Turn on Hdmi control in the Yamaha. Check CEC settings if any in xbox. May issues with this right now in the community
The Xbox Series S does not play nice in CEC with my Onkyo receiver at all, in fact, when it's active, it straight up breaks CEC functionality with all other devices connected to it. It's really frustrating.
what is the main difference between TSR-700 vs RX-V6A?
Same unit. Just a Costco exclusive
So each speaker was getting 119 Watts RMS?
The meter shows the RMS wattage per speaker during the scene. It's not an exact constant RMS wattage because it's not something like a test tone, the wattage varies during the film
Legends
audiovision de tested also Yamaha RX-V6A:
7 channels driven continuosly at 1khz into 6 ohm speakers shows 22 watts only and 5 channels 44 watts only ... but somehow you measured 119 Watts 7 channels driven ... in reality you need something like Marantz SR8015 to get such high RMS power on 7 channels at the same time!
You do know that almost no one uses these receivers in multi channel stereo mode, correct?
If you watch the video again, you will see that during a movie, the power is utilized entirely differently. The speakers are never playing the same thing at the same time. They are playing all different sounds at various points in the movie. Having the exact same output from every channel is not a real world use. Any standard AVR above about $500 can do a pretty decent job for anyone with a mid range budget. We were showing a live Dyno test with actual speakers. It’s literally what the gauge was reading so audiovision should probably do more realistic testing so people can get a good idea of what they actually need. Thanks for your comment
Cool
What are the channels crossed at? Also stop the annoying misnomer of calling 3' tall speakers as towers. Towers would be 6' tall speakers.
They're just shy of 4 feet and there a very very few speakers anywhere near 6 feet on the market. Actually more like none short of actual movie theater speakers(which we've installed) and those aren't even called "towers". Its industry standard to call floorstanding speakers towers. Also reiterate your question, what do you mean by, "what are the speakers crossed at?"
The terminology is off there, that can mean a multitude of things.
Do you mean what are the cross over settings for the "towers" in the Yamaha?
You should start accepting Dogecoin, so you all can really go to the Moon.
i dont like those yams models i prefer older ones
I wanted to give all the thumbs up for this test but you are repeating the "Like Subscribe support us" almost every 3minutes of the video. At the end i decided to dislike just for that. I felt it was exhausting. You do not need to "beg" for support. If the video is good people will do it even if you do not say so. It is 2021.
